SQLSERVER SERVICE NOT RUNNING ON LOCALHOST! CAN'T START IT!

Jun 24, 2007

When I try to give myself administrative rights SQL presents me with the following error message:

TITLE: .Net SqlClient Data Provider------------------------------An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)For help, click: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink?ProdName=Microsoft+SQL+Server&EvtSrc=MSSQLServer&EvtID=2&LinkId=20476------------------------------BUTTONS:OK------------------------------

This isn't just only a problem with the administrative rights. This happens in many different places such as when I try and add a new data source in VB Express 2005 it gives approximately the same error message.

My MSSQLSERVER service is running nicely but my SQLSERVER isn't and on top of that I can't get it to start!

If anybody can help me out here I would really grateful.

Thanks.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

OK. I fixed that with the help of another thread that was similar except now this message is coming to haunt me:

TITLE: System.Data------------------------------Instance failure.------------------------------BUTTONS:OK------------------------------

I'm purely guessing this is related my SQLSERVER service not running but that is purely a guess. Getting back to the problem I have no clue how to fix it!

Please help!

After Restoring MASTER Database, Can't Start SQLServer Service: Configuration Block Version 0 Is Not A Valid Version Number

Jul 16, 2007

Now, I checked and verified that my backup version of SQL Server is the same as the version installed on the computer I'm restoring too.

I have SQL Server on a production machine that I backed up and want to test a full restore on a dev machine to make sure it will work when I need it to.

Now that I've run the restore command on my tape backup and go to restart the SQL server service I receive:

Configuration block version 0 is not a valid version number. SQL Server is exiting. Restore the master database or reinstall.

I'm afraid I don't understand why this is happening. If the builds are the same, then shouldn't restoring the MASTER database have worked normally and I'd be able to restart the service now?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

An Error 1069 - )The Service Did Not Start Due To Logon Failure) Occurred While Performing This Service Operation ...

Oct 10, 2007

Hi All,

We seem to be being plagued by the error below by our SQL Server agent. This happens almost everytime we restart the server that has been running for a day or two.

Our SQL Server Agent uses a none expiring domain credential. I understand that this problem only happens when the profile being used by the SQL Servr Agent has changed (password change). What puzzles me is that the login is A ok and no changes has been made to it's password.

We always resolve this problem by changing the login used in the SQL Server Agent to local and after that, returning it back to it's original domain login. Unfortunately, we cant always do this everytime something goes wrong.

Can anyone please help us shed a light on this? We're using SQL2k with SP3a. Thanks!

Error:

An error 1069 - )The service did not start due to logon failure) occurred while performing this service operation on the SQLServerAgent service.

Regards,
Joseph

Application On Start And Database Connection

Nov 24, 2003

Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me answer this question.

If I had a site like Yahoo, that constantly had users accessing it. Would it be a good or bad idea to automatically open a database connection to SQL Server on Application Start? What would you recommend? Would opening and closing the DB connection on every page save alot of overhead and bottleneck? Thank You.

Steps Before Start Developping Application That Use Sql Expr.

Mar 27, 2007

Hi All,

What are the points needed to be taken care of before starting develop an application that uses sql express as a local database. For example is there a need for an early configuration to make all end users (after the installing app from a cd to their own machines) of the application to connect to the database that I am designing. I saw many posts related to this issue but none of them describes the process step by step. So if an experienced guy/girl outlines the steps I would be delightful.

Thanks in advance.

DB Engine :: Identifying Start Time For Application Hitting?

Jun 12, 2015

We have an issue where servers goes slow from morning 2 AM EST to 10 AM EST.

Using SP_WhoIsActive we somehow found that there is netbackup from Symantec which runs during that time phrase.

As per Symantec team there backup should get over by 5 AM EST, per their testing for almost 100 Dbs on the server( not big in size , all of them in total would be 60 GB).

Using SP_whoisactive we only see, start time of that virtual backup occurring on tape, for one database at time.

So is there a way we actually determine when does the above backup kicks and stops? Also, could SQL server be the problem in making these backups run slow or there is something else i need to monitor?

Hello,
Fairly new to asp.net developers community. Can't believe I havent took interest in this before!

I already have a sqldatabase and tables created with data. (This database is reading from another system every 15 mins)The problem is not the database, its working fine, I even have a MS Access frontend that I use.
I want to take the query functionality on the web. ( par number look up to display description, price and unit of measure
I need to have a box for the user to enter a number (1-xxx)..Populate 4 columns with xxx rows.In column one enter 'partnbr"...that looks up the "partnbr' in the "partlist_table" and send back "description" "price" "unit of measure"
Once the info remains on the , I can create masterpages to resemble a quote.

SQL Service Won't Start!

Oct 11, 2001

Something very weird happened this morning... I booted my computer as usual, but for some reason SQL service stopped by itself. I tried to start it again, but it just doesn't respond. I open up Service Manager, clicked on refresh services, but still no response. The "start service" button is available for me to press, but when I press it it doesn't seem to do anything.

Note that sql service was running last night as I switched off computer. I haven't changed anything since.

Any clues, guys?

SSIS Service Won't Start

Jan 3, 2006

I've been completely unsuccessful so far in getting the SSIS service to start under normal circumstances.

I've got the SQL 2005 RTM DVD and a clean, brand-new installation of
Windows 2000 Server (Service Pack 4). All system requirements have been
met according to the SQL installer. I choose to install just the
Database Engine, SSIS and the Workstation components, all other
installation options are defaults except Services, which are set to use
a Domain User account.

The install completes without problems and the SQL Server & SS
Agent services start suceessfully, but the SSIS service refuses to
start (timeout). If I change the service to use LocalSystem, the same
happens. If I make the Domain User (DOMAINMisterSQL) account a member
of Local Admins on the server, the service still won't start.

If, however, I use a Domain Admin account, the service does start, so it appears to be a security issue, but how can I configure the service to start with fewer privileges?

This problem has appeared on each machine I've tried this on, four to
date, so it's not related to the particular setup of this server. I've
searched the web for weeks for a solution with no success; any help
would be greatly appreciated.
