Using TFS Build To Auto-deploy Reporting Services Reports
Has anybody used Team Build to deploy reporting services reports to a test server? We currently use an RSS script that gets the current files from VSS and then deploys them to the RS server, but we would like to migrate the code to TFS.

Auto-deploy Reports To Sharepoint 3.0 Site --URGENT
Hi! I need your help for something I've been trying to do: I use VS2005 to create reports, which are then uploaded to a WSS 3.0 site's document library. Next I manually connect these .rdl files to a shared data source file (.rsds) that I have created in that document library. Everything works fine! So, what I would like to do is to have a way to automate the process of uploading the .rdl files and then connecting them to the shared data source. I'm aware of the WS Upload Service, but this does not do the connection of the .rdl to the data source. Any ideas? Thanx a lot! Stefanos

Deploy Failed In SharePoint Add-in For Reporting Services
Hi all, I am a newbie for SSRS 2005 and have a problem about deployment step. First, I have already configured the reporting services and have also tried to create the report by SSRS. Everything is fine until the deployment of my project. The error is shown as followings: The path of the item '/DS/DSSS2' is not valid. The full path must be less than 260 characters long; other restrictions apply. If the report server is in native mode, the path must start with slash. Deploy failed And, these bellows are my details Full name path : c:mossdata eport eportml eportmlDRPSS2.smdl TargetDatasource : DS Data Source Name : DSSS2 Then, I have come back to the SharePoint portal and found that the data source folder and data model folder are created as my earlier steps (before deployment step). I, therefore, build the report by using Microsoft report builder and adding the built report into my port through the SQL Server Reporting service report viewer. It is fine and shows the result as my design. But I wonder the error warning in deployment step and would like to solve that. I think my full path name is not longer than the 260 characters as above. How To Do Post-build Events In Reporting Services 2005
Does anyone know if it is possible to do Post-Build Events in Reporting Services? I am using Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition and creating Reports under the Business Intelligence Projects. When creating C# projects, when you right click on the solution and go to properties there is a tab for Build Events at which point you can create Pre-build and Post-build events; however I am not finding this option available within a Reports project. Does anyone know if this is possible to do in Reporting Services? Basically what I am trying to accomplish is, I am having to create multiple template files and there are multiple developers going to be working on this project and I would like to create a batch file of some sort that copies the template files that are created into the IDEPrivateAssembliesProjectItemsReportProject directory each time the project is built. Vista IIS7 And Asp.net Reporting Services Wont Deploy
I am using vista, iis7 sql server 2005 sp2, vs 2005. i first noticed that i could not deploy to the localhost server after upgrading to vista. i installed sql server sp2 and configured the iis7 using the control panel. Everything i needed to check off got loaded exept the asp.net check box in the ApplicationDevelopmentFeatures subcategory under the iis configuration section. It errored out when i clicked apply. there was no specific error just that it did not get added. Controlpanel> Programs>T urnWindowsFeaturesOnAndOff> InternetInformationServices> WorldWideWebServices> ApplicationDevelopmentFeatures> Asp.net (check box) When i click OK, afte a few minutes, i get a message: "An error has occurred. Not all the features were successfully changed." what good is iis7 if it cannot support asp.net? I assume something is wrong. It is not permissions. Reporting Services Login Box Appears When Trying To Deploy In SSRS 2005
Hi All, I installed SQL Server 2005 SP2 recently. After that when I try to deploy a solution in SSRS 2005, I get a dialog box with title: "Reporting Services Login". It has my server listed as the first row: "http://localhost/reportserver" and then it has two text boxes asking for Username and Password. I checked my IIS settings and only Integrated Security is checked for the Reports Server folder (and for the entire website). I tried to change that to Allow Anonymous Access = Checked, but still the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks! GB

Auto Filter In 2005 Reporting Services
Hello Experts, I have been playing around with RS 2005 and like it so far. I am in the process of replcating some excel reports in RS. I was wondering if there is any way to replicate the Auto Filter Functionality of Excels sheets where column is a dropdown with disticnt values of that specific column and also has Top 10 and Custom filters attached to it. So when selected from dropdown the report filters for these records. I understand we can use parameters for this kinda report but my client has 15 columns in the report and it will be cool to give them auto filter functionality as in Excel as they are used to it. Any help will be appreciated.

MS Reporting Services And Crystal Reports
Can anyone tell me if MS Reporting Services can import/read a Crystal Reports file as it can an Access report file? I've seen a few posts out on other boards that there are some companies charging fees for converting Crystal Reports over to MS Reporting Services. Is there any easier way? C# With Reporting Services To Email Reports
I currently have a report on our Reporting Services 2005 server that takes a CompanyID as its only parameter. Also, in our database, we have a list of contacts that are linked to the CompanyID that is used in the report. What I would like to do is email a pdf or each company's report to every contact for that company in our database daily. However I am stuck on how to do that. My project is using C#, but if there is a way to do this directly through Reporting Services I could do that as well. If anyone could help me out I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

How To Hide URL When Display Reports In Reporting Services
Hi , How can I hide the URL information when I open a report, some with parameters and some do not have parameters. Is there anyway or properties in RS that I can set to have it hide all the important information, like datasource, credentials, parameters, and display the report like a aspx page instead? Reporting Services Error When Cycling Reports
Hi all, I was wondering if there's anyone out there who can help with a problem I'm having. I'm using SSRS to display reports via a web browswer session on large display screens in our office, to show stats and information etc. The reports are set to cycle every 2 mins using a Powershell script, which references URLs stored in a text file (example below): http://myservername/reportserver?%2fDisplay+Reports%2fTop+10+Countries&rs:clearsession=true&rs:Command=Render&rs:Format=HTML4.0&rcarameters=false The reports display fine for a while, but then after a certain amout of time they no longer seem to be able to connect to the database, and I get a Reporting Service Error come up on the screen. I have also noticed that, even while it is working, the data does not always get refreshed, i.e. it seems to use cached information. Now, I have tried using rs:clearsession=true in the URL but with no joy. The other strange thing is that the problem only occurs if I use the reportserver URLs; if I use the report viewer URL it works fine, but obviously isn't suitable for display reports as it includes all the banner stuff at the top of the screen. However, this would seem to eliminate the use of the Powershell script from being the potential cause of the issue. Has anyone come across this, or anything similar to do with timeout issues or connection refreshing. I've search the forums and the online help but nothing mentioned there seems to help with the problem. Thanks Matt

I have a requirement to create dynamic reports for my client. once i create these reports then the user will choose columns of there choice. so the columns may belong to multiple tables. Now the report should get generated with the layout etc. is it possible. since our project is totally on the webserver(webbased.) please if you can provide me with any links with dynamic report creation wizards. and also we only use Stored procedures via database. which is best is writing the entire queries right behind the layouit or calling the entire logic via Stored procedure. i am a bit confused. this is my first project working on reports itself. Hi everyone, I'm very new to SQL and SQL Reporting Services. However I've been given a task. How do I save multiple reporting services reports onto a predetermined location on a users local pc? Moving Deployed Reporting Services Reports
We will making a change to our Reporting Services deployment next month. We will be moving from our SQL 2000 server to a new SQL 2005 server. In addition, we will moving from a Local Catalog Deployment to a Remote Catalog Deployment. My question is this: Is there a way I can prevent my team from having to manually redeploy our reports in the new system? They have not been diligent about saving the Visual Studio solution or project files, so they will have to pull the most up-to-date RDL's off the server and deploy them on the new server one by one. I suppose I can install SQL 2000 on the new server first, then move the Reporting Services databases to the new server, then upgrade the server to 2005, but installing 2000 and upgrading to 2005 does not sound like a best practice. Sql 2000 Reporting Services - Reports Will Not Render Online
Hi all, i got through the installation of the Sql Server 2000 Reporting services evaluation and managed to deploy a couple reports and a shared data source to my reporting server on my DEV box. Now im trying to view the reports i made online and they never render, all i get is the animated gif that always says "Report is being generated". This goes on and on with apparently no end in sight. I CAN preview the reports in VS 2003 and they render almost instantly. there are no differences that may affect the connection to the database between my development computer (with VS 2003) and the server that the reporting server is on. Anyone have any ideas as to why this may be happening ? thanks, mcm

Migrating PIVOT TABLE Reports In REPORTING SERVICES
HI, We currently have a report generated weekly running script which creates an excel file and pivot tables. Using pivot tables we can drag and drop the various required fields and the report changes instantly. But i was told there is a limitation of size while using pivot tables. Can this report be easily created with almost all the flexibility in reporting services, if so could you please guide me with some sample report or tutorials. currently there is a some store procedures thats run every week using a DTS manually, is there a way of automating this. Cube, Build, Deploy, Process
Dear all, I'd like to get simple and clear explanation of the cube in data mining, and 3 notions we encounter a lot : Build, Deploy, and Process. (1) What is the cube that is created when we deploy a mining solution/project? I wonder what type of cubes they are because although the dialog on deploy/process show that cube, after successful deployment we still don't see the cube in Cubes folder of the project. (2) Why the SQL Server created that cube? Even though we process only one table and only use case-table (without nested table) (3) Can someone explain these 3 concepts with CLEAR differences between them? (A) Build (B) Deploy (C) Process As far as I know, the stages are like that : build, then deploy, then process. Also, it seems to me that those operations do not create objects inside 'Relational' database, but create objects (binary and text, with text files usually in XMLA programming language) in the related project's folders and subfolders. Deploying Reports And Setting Up Reporting Services On A Clustered Server
Hi I have two questions: 1) I need to deploy reports to a server in Spain, which I do not have direct access to. Is there any way that I can simply deploy the reports to a server here, that I have access to, and then copy the reports to the server in Spain??? Or is there any other way? I cannot expect the customers in Spain to be able to use Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 themselves to deploy reports (they do not even have access to the tool). 2) How do I set up reporting services on a clustered server? I have configured reporting services on both clusters, but somehow I cannot initialize both of them. Only on will be initialized at a time. Does anyone have experience with this? Thanx :-)

Reports Cannot Be Deployed From VS 2005 To Reporting Services In WSS Integration Mode
I tried to deploy reports from VS 2005 on Dev to Prod (different domain, in WSS integration mode) , but VS keeps showing the login window ... I set up TargetDataSourceFolder, TargetReportFolder and TargetServerURL in VS 2005 on my Dev machine as mentioned in MSDN article "Deploying Reports, Models, and Shared Data Sources to a SharePoint Site" and tried to deploy reports to Prod machine. But VS 2005 keeps showing "Report Services Login" window to me, even when I used Administrator account of that Prod machine. The WSS log file on the Prod machine shows this error: "The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators." Any ideas? SQL Reporting Services: Cannot Browse Http://localhost/Reports [Unique Issue]
Hi, It has been one week I am researching this issue on internet and trying everything I find. But no luck. What I am trying to do is to install SRS on SQL 2005 Enterprise Edition. The reporting services configuration tool has "All Green" check marks. When I browse either of http://localhost/Reports and http://localhost/ReportServer it prompts for password. I am logged on to domain administrator account, I have tried all users' passwords it gives 401.1 error. I have tried accessing it from another machine or by using loopback ip or machine name; it doesnt work. Would somebody have any clue to it ? Thanks, Fahad
