Birth Date 1900-01-01 00:00:00.000

How to check the default value set up for datetime field? The reason I am asking is my database

field "birthday" is datetime(8), the default value I set to '' already. Everytime my asp program
have empty birthday or invalid birthdate for this field, the system automaticaly set it to

1900-01-01 00:00:00.000

Do you know what happened?

Date Of Birth Conversion
Can someone help please?
I'm using SQL Server 7 and trying to update a table containing over 250,000 records. I have a character(8) (CHARDOB) field representing dates of birth in the form YYYYMMDD and would like to update my datetime field (DOB) using a simple update command like:-

5, 2) + '/' + LEFT(CHARDOB, 4)

but get the message:-

Server: Msg 242, Level 16, State 3, Line 1
The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value.
The statement has been terminated.

The strange thing is that this works on a small dataset but crashes and burns on larger ones. I have tried different CAST and CONVERT options to transform the data into the correct format. I have tried a stored procedure, DTS transformations and execute SQL task in my DTS package without success.

Any help will be appreciated.

Formatting For A Birth Date Field??
Hello, I'm new to SQL Server, working for a non-profit computerizing alot of its data.I imported a table of people's names, birth dates, etc. into SS2005from Access, and the birth_date was imported as an Access date/timefield, giving it the datetime datatype in SQL.The column values look like:10/14/1964 12:00:00 AMWhere and how do I learn to specify that all fields like this should bein ISO format of yyyy-mm-dd??Do I have to create a new column and put all the dates into it??Should I just convert the data in queries/views??Use a constraint to format the data??I can redo the Access table if necessary, it is only 300-some rows.I tried BOL but it was not helpful...The end users will likely enter mm/dd/yy or mm/dd/yyyy and it will haveto be stored properly in the database table as column/fieldbirth_date...Thank you, Tom

Trigger To Calculate Age From Date Of Birth
Here's the problem. I want to insert age in years to a table of children, using a MS SQL trigger to calculate age from Date of Birth (DOB). DOB format is mm/dd/yyyy. The DOB input comes from an ASP Insert statement. I've tried to use DateDiff and a user-defined function to calculate age without any success. Also the trigger needs to account for children of less than 1 year old, could be a 0. Age is integer in the children table. Any help is greatly appreciated. The sooner the better. Even a kick start is better than nothing.

Updating Database Date Field Results In Date Value Of &"01/01/1900&"
Brand new to this, so please bear with me.I'm using the following code fragment to update a datetime field on a SQL Server 2005 database table:cmd.CommandText = "Update Projects Set EntryDate = " & Convert.ToDateTime(txtEntryDate.Text)cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()The result of the update operation is the the database field contains the value "1900-01-01 00:00:00:000".  This probably means that I passed nulls to SQL; however, I see a valid date in the txtEntryDate field on my web form (i.e., "06/18/2007").  I also did a "Response.write" to display the txtEntryDate and it looks Okay. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? Thanks!Using Visual Web Developer 2005 Express.

SQL Server Automatically Changing Date 1900-01-01 To 2001-01-01
I have a SSIS data flow task that downloads data from an Oracle source which has some real dates and some date values of0001-01-01 which I am trying to convert to '1900-01-01' using adecode(Date1,'0001-01-01','1900-01-01',Date1). The problem I am having is that when I run the package in Business Intelligence Development Studio on my local machinethe date value is stored correctly in the SQL table in a datetime field as 1/1/1900 12:00:00 AM, however when I run the package from the server the field gets saved as 1/1/2001 12:00:00 AM.

I have tried a bunch of ways to work around this issue and the only solution I have found that works it to download into a temp table and then load into the live table. Does anyone have any idea of what might be causing this issue when I run the package from the server?

Matrix Report, Date: 1900-01-01 Wrong!! Suppose To Be Empty, How?
I am making a report in Visual Studio. Im making a matrix report. I have made a UNION of 2 tables. One of them has a field called Date and the other one does not. But to make a UNION of these 2 tables so that the results are printed in a Matrix I have to have the same fields aliases at least. So what I did is that in the second table is:

Now, in the report the first table gives me the dates in a format:
=Format(Fields!Estimated_Close_Date.Value, "yyyy-MM-dd")

But, the second table is it doesnt have a date in that field when I run the report it gives me:

Something I dont want.

So, how do I make it understand that the second tables date field is suppose to be empty?

Flat File Text Date Conversion To SQL Server Date Comments And Suggestions
Basically the above is a very common requirement, please comment on my solution which I've arrived at by searching through the web; -

In summary I have used 3 SSIS components these are "Flat File Source", "Derived Column" and "SQL Server Destination".

1) File Connections Manager Editor
1.1) Within File Connections Manager Editor; -
Name the data type e.g. "INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE_SRC"
and assign a type to the data type e.g. string[DT_STR]

1.2) Click on the Preview button to ensure the expected text is assigned to the expected data type.

2) Derived Column Transformation Editor
2.1) Assign Derived Column Name, e.g.

2.2) Select <add as new column> within Derived Column.

2.3) Enter the conversion Expression, e.g. ; -

Since the above conversion is such a common task I suggest that Service Pack 3 of SQL Server 2005 delivers the following functionality; -

2.4) Select "database timestamp [DT_DBTIMESTAMP] " as Data Type.

2.5) Within the Mappings tab of the SQL Destination Editor have; -
Destination Column as INTERCHANGE_NET_APP_DATE.

Please comment on the above, I will then pass on my suggestion to Microsoft.

Thanks in advance,

Help Needed Little Urgent---how To Convert The String Date To Standard Date Format In SQL Table
Using DTS package in 2000 version, I am dumping TXT file contents into SQL Table,

I have one column having date in format YYYYMMDD(20070929) and corresponding column in SQL is datetime, but it fails on data type mismatch.

I have no choice of making date column in SQL to string or Varchar etc,

is there any way to make that date column in SQL to convert the value upon transformation from format (YYYYMMDD) to M/DD/YYYY (9/29/2007).

How Do I Convert A Unix Date/Time Field To A Date When The The SQL DB Stores That Data As Char 11?
Hi there.
I'm trying to extract data from my SQL server & everything in the script I've got is working (extracting correct data) except for one field - which is for the most part it's off by +2 days (on a few occasions - I see it off by just +1 day or even +3, but it's usually the +2 days).

I'm told that it's due to the conversion formula - but - since SQL is not my native language, I'm at a bit of a loss.

The DB table has the date field stored as a type: CHAR (as opposed to 'DATE')
Can anyone out there help?

Please advise. Thanks.

How To Select All Dates Upto Todays Date And Include The First Next Future Date
how can i select all dates upto todays date and include the first next future date in a given data base

say todays date was the 01/06/2006 (MM,DD,YYYY)

below is a mock data base
id date (MM,DD,YYYY)
1 01/02/2006
2 01/04/2006
3 01/06/2006
4 01/09/2006

i want to select all dates equal or less that 01/06/2006 and include the first next future date .. and in this case it would be 01/09/2006

Import Flat Text File String Date To Database Date
I asked this question below, but the answer was that the conversion will take place automatically, but I can't get that to happen. I have a flat file with an 8 position field that I identify as string (and I also tried date) that is yyyymmdd and it needs to go into the database field that is datetime format. IS there something I am doing wrong with the definition of it, or do I need to add some kind of conversion, and if so, what and how would that be done. I'm a dts Sql2000 expert, but the SSIS thing is driving me crazy. I have a ton of dts' to convert and the migration tool doesn't work because there are a lot of active X scripts in them. thanks for your help. Boston Rose

Sharepoint Integration With Erroneous Date Format In Date Time Picker
Dear Expert!

A server with SQL 2005 sp2, Reporting Services and Sharepoint services (ver 3.0)(in integrated mode) gives an odd error. When viewing a Reporting Services report with a Date Time Picker, the date chosen is wrong. The preferred setting is Danish with the date format dd-mm-yyyy. The date picker shows the months in Danish but when selecting a date, and clicking on the Apply-button, the date reformats to US (mm-dd-yyyy).

When choosing 5th of September 2007 and clicking apply, it shows in the picker, 9th of May 2007.
When choosing 26th of September 2007 and clicking apply, it shows, again in US format, the RIGHT date but adds a timestamp 12:00 AM? in the end, making further enquiries to fail.

The report itself receives the right date and shows correctly. The only case it fails is, when the time stamp appears.

The server is a 32-bit one with 4 GB RAM. A testserver with identical collation on the Reportserver database cannot recreate the error. The site containing the reports has been set to Danish in the regional settings. To Reinstall is not an option.

The test report has no database connection whatsoever.

When setting the site to US, the timestamp wont appear at all.

The server has been restarted and the installation procedure was of the simple kind. No special tweaks at all.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Johan Rastenberger

Problem Inserting Integers And Date In A Sql Server 2005 Datatable Row And Selecting It Afterwards Based On The Date
I have soma code that inserts 7 parameters in a database ( a date, 6  integers).
I also use a self incrementing ID but the date is set as primary key because for each series of 6 numbers of a certain date there may only be 1 entry.  Moreover only 1 entry of 6 integers is possible for 2 days of the week, (tue and fr).
I manage to insert a row of data in the database, where the date is set as smalldatetime and displays as follows:  1/05/2007 0:00:00 in the table.
I want to retrieve the series of numbers for a certain date that has been entered (without taking in account the hours and seconds).
A where clause seems to be needed but I don’t know the syntax or don’t find the right function
I use the following code to insert the row :
command.Parameters.Add(new SqlParameter("@Date", SqlDbType.DateTime, 40, "LDate"));
command.Parameters[6].Value = DateTime.Today.ToString();
and the following code to get the row back (to put in arraylist):
“SELECT C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C6 FROM Series WHERE (LDate = Today())?
 WHERE LDate =  '" + DateTime.Today.ToString() + "'"
Which is the correct syntax?  Is there a better way to insert and select based on the date?
I don’t get any error messages and the code executes fine but I only get an empty datatable in my dataset (the table isn’t looped for rows I noticed while debugging).
Today’s date is in the database but isn’t found by my tsql code I think.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

SSRS - Matrix Report (Reference Date And Main Date)
Dear Friends,
I have a doubt related with a report parameter in matrix control.
I have this interface:

Valor da Carteira (VC)

Valor Carteira
EBIT (Ytd)
Valor Carteira
EBIT (Ytd)

Warrants Equity

Traded and OTC Options

Other Derivatives

Money Market

The MDX statment:

Code Block
[Measures].[CM_EBIT] } ON COLUMNS,
[DimTime].[Hierarquia].[Dias].ALLMEMBERS *
[DimStructure].[Entidade_ID].[Entidade_ID].ALLMEMBERS *
[DimStructure].[Carteira_ID].[Carteira_ID].ALLMEMBERS *
[InstrumentoTipo].[InstArea].[InstArea].ALLMEMBERS *
[InstrumentoTipo].[InstTipo].[InstTipo].ALLMEMBERS ) }
SELECT ( { [DimTime].[Dia].&[8878],[DimTime].[Dia].&[9092] } ) ON COLUMNS FROM (
SELECT ( { [DimStructure].[Carteira_ID].&[LIS_CPR] } ) ON COLUMNS
FROM ( SELECT ( { [DimStructure].[Entidade_ID].&[LIS] } ) ON COLUMNS
FROM [cbRentabilidade])))
WHERE ( [DimTime].[Dia].CurrentMember )

I have 2 dates as input. The main date and reference date (Last date of previous year)of the main date.
At the moment I manually insert the values for main date and reference date, but I only one to select the main date and automatically insert in the first column of the matrix report the reference date.

Date Picker In Web Browser Shows Incorrect Date Format

I am using reporting services, when I go to view my report in Report Manager (web browser is IE7), I choose a date from a date picker control, and the date that populates the date field is in US format mm/dd/yyyy, however in my regional settings, although I have English(United States) I have altered my short date format to be dd/mm/yyyy.

Currently my report will display an error saying the date is an invalid format if I pick a date that violates the mm/dd/yyyy format. I want it to display the date format that I have defined in my regional settings, without modifying the 'Language Preference' settings for IE.

The report properties has =User!Language for the 'Language' property.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

How To Get Todays Date In Format YY/MM/DD And To Compare It To Another Date Passed Into The Sql
I need to do the following and am hoping someone can help me out.
I have C#( app) that will call a stored procedure. The C# will pass in a date to thestored procedure. The date is in the format YY/MM/DD. Once inside of the stored procedure, the datepassed into the stored proc needs to be compared to todays date. Todays date must be determined inthe SQL.
So basically here is my pseudo code for what I am trying to accomplish. Basically I just am afterthe comparison of the two values:
If @BeginDate < TodaysDate
The difficult part is how to obtain the value for "TodaysDate"
Taking into consideration that "TodaysDate" should probably be in the format of YY/MM/DD considering that is how the date it is to be compared with is being passed in.
Can someone please code this out for me in Microsoft SQL. I would be forever grateful.

Converting C++ Unix Time_t Julian Date To SQL Date
I've just been trying to do this. I looked on Google and it seems tobe a common problem with no obvious solution. I've seen varioussolutions which don't seem exactly elegant, so I figured I'd post thesolution I came up with. It's effectively a single line solution, albeit with various embedded calls. It makes an adjustment for thelocal timezone too!DECLARE @time_t INTSET @time_t = 1090834321/* 10:32am, July 26th 2004 BST */DECLARE @timestamp DATETIMESET @timestamp = dateadd (ss, datediff (ss, GetUTCDate(), GetDate()),dateadd (ss, @time_t, '19700101'))PRINT @timestampHope that helps. If there's a problem with it, let me know!andyt

Default Date(current Date) Function W/ Update?
I have a reference table that currently has no web front-end. It's a small table(<10 rows) that's not going to change very often (maybe once every few months).

We manually update rows on the table via the GUI table interface in Enterprise Mgr., not in T-SQL.

What I'd like to do is have SQL Server automatically update the "Last_Modified" column with the current timestamp. I can do it on an Insert using the GetDate() function, but if I update a row, this doesn't work.

Is there a function I can use that can auto-populate for both insert and updates?
