Sdf File Edited In SQL Server Managment Studio Crashes My Pocket Pc Application.
I have a sql server ce db file that I use in my pocket pc application. It seems to be working until I try to edit my .sdf file in SQL Server (2005) Managment Studio. After this I cannot open modified file in my application.
I receive native exception error when I call Open method for Connection object:

When I edit .sdf file in another pc it's all working.
My config is:
windows vista business
.net compact framework 2.0 sp2
sql server 2005

Vista, Varbinary(max) And SQL Server Managment Studio
I'm running into an issue that only occurs on Vista machines against a SQL Server 2005. We have a table with a varbinary(MAX) column in which we store a csv/xls/xml file. When I perform a 'select * from my_table' within Management Studio the column data returned is sporadic...some rows are filled out and some are not. When performed on an XP machine all of the data is returned (every row's column is filled out). Is this a known issue? I tried searching for it but didn't find anything. Thanks, Nellie

SQL Server Managment Studio Repeated Logins
Presumably an easy question but every time I open a query file the SSMS requires me to login. Very frustrating. Cannot find a configuration option, properties attribute or other to turn this off. Can anyone adivse how I can set up SMSS to require a login at the beginning of the session and then not again for each saved query I open? Thanks.

SQL Server 2005 Managment Studio Newbie: Can't See Stored Procedure
I just created a stored procedure in SQL Server 2005 management studio. I went to my db and expanded the programmability folder then right clicked the stored procedures folder and created a stored procedure. I saved the procedure as sp_getDistance in the default folder SQL managment studio picked. Now when I went back to that stored procedure folder I did not see my stored procedure sp_getDistance, all that was there was the system stored procedure folder. Did I save the stored procedure in the wrong place, or what did I do wrong. I can't find the procedure anywhere, its just sitting in my My DocumentsSQL Server Management StudioProjectssp_getDistance.sql folder. Thanks,Kyle Spitzer

SQL Server Managment Studio Express 2005 Import/Export Wizard
I've created a new database and restored the database from a backup. I'm wanting to import raw data from an excel spreadsheet into the tables of the new database. When I right click on the database, and hover over tasks the import/ export data menu options are not in the menu.The menu items ends at 'Generate Scripts'. I'm connected on a local instance to a registered server. Can anyone advise?

Hello, i have made some Data Mining Model Examples in Excel 2007 (not temporarily!). They where there after leaving an re-opening Excel. I have used them several times. Then I want to look, if I can see them also via SQL Server Managment Studio in the Analysis Services. There where nothing in the DMAddInDB in Analysis Services. And after this, in Excel my DataMining Models have disappeared and all Models i have made since this disappeared also. Perhaps I have destroyed the database. But will this happen every time? Pocket PC Application Cannot Push Data
I have a Pocket PC application (VS2005, SQLCE 2005, Windows Moblile 5.0, SQL Server 2000) that can pull data with no problem but produces an error when an RDA push is attempted. The error message is: Error Code: 80072EE4 Minor Err: 28037. The information in TechNet has description of : A request to send data to the computer running IIS has failed. For more information, see HRESULT. It does produce a log in the folder for SQLCE 3.0 and has the following message: Hr=80070585 ERR:REQUEST NOT QUEUED for ulRSCBId = -1. Not sure if this means anything because I can't find much information on it. Anyone have any ideas on what this could be? Do I display the HRESULT the message mentions in Visual Studio debug? We have this working on our development server so I am not sure what is different here.

How To Setup Linked Servers With SQL Managment Studio
Hi Everyone, I am using SQL Server 2005 with SQL Management Studio. What I am trying to do is move tables and stored procedures from one database on one server to another database which is on a different server. Essentially, I am trying to move tables and stored procedures from a database on my local computer to a database on our staging server I was told the best way to do this would be to use a linked server. I have been trying to set one up using managment studio but right clicking on server-object and choosing 'new ---> Linked Server' but I have not been able to successfully create the connection. Modifying Triggers In Managment Studio Express
I have a database with an update trigger, which shows up under the Triggers object in the database tree. When I modify the item and try to save it it prompts me for a disk location to save the query. I then reopen the item on the db tree, and it shows the old code. What am I doing wrong? Mike

Management Studio Crashes
I can open a single connection to the database engine successfully but if I try to open another connection ('New Query' or 'query with current connection') Management Studio just goes away without any errors. I am utilizing a remote desktop connection to the server but if I open a connection from my desktop through Management Studio I can establish multiple connections (database engine, query, etc...) with no problems. There are no errors in the sql logs, event viewer or windows log. Has anyone seen this? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

On my HTC Touch with Windows Mobile 6.1 installed the application crashes, without any error message, if I try to open a connection. But...On the Windows Mobile 6 Pro emulator the connection opens normaly. The whole application runs perfect. On both "devices" are the same dll's, of version 3.5.0.0. Visual Studio 2005 Crashes During Report Deployment
Has anybody ever had VS2005 sometimes crash when deploying reports? It only happens once and awhile, but it is annoying. I was hoping this would go away with service pack 1, but it didn't. Another problem that I thought would be fixed is when you try to close VS2005 after working on reports and it states "Cannot close because an active modal is active" occasionally. BJ

Visual Studio Crashes While Generating Report Model
Wasted a lot of time figuring out the possible cause of this. I was working in connected mode (with VSS), and when it tried to create a Report Model (after doing all its validations/checks), it had to check-out the project file, which is normal. But before doing so, it tries to check-out the .dsv file as well (data source view file from which report model is being generated). While attempting this, the visual studio crashes. I could never guess that this could be an issue. All the time I was trying to figure out if there was anything wrong with the data in my tables. So, for me, a simple solution worked - check-out the .dsv file before you start creating data model. I hope this may save time for others...

(.Net SqlClient Data Provider) I would expect this as the DNS has not been advised to encrypt the conection. This is much better than the : Login failed for user 'COX10289'. (.Net SqlClient Data Provider) that I get, irrespective of whether I enter a password or not. This is on a XP machine trying to connect to the remote webhosting company via the internet. I can ping the server I have enabled shared memory and tcp/ip in protocols, named pipes and via are disabled I do not have any aliases set up No I do not force encryption I wonder if you have any further suggestions to this problem?

I have two similar packages that are both experiencing this issue. I need to add a script step to generate an incrementing id for the packages. Once I add the script step, and then save the package, next time I open the package I get a "Microsoft Visual Studio has encountered a problem and needs to close" error which kills off Visual Studio. Business Intelligence Studio Crashes At The Point Of Completing Production Of A Model
Is there some memory limit on the size of models that can be successfully created as when I try to generate a model on a specific database I get the horrible Windows exception error in Visual Studio and it restarts leaving me without a model. I have .99Gb of Ram, but a colleague has 1.99Gb of Ram and he appears to be able to generate the model successfully. I can create models against older versions of the database successfully. Surely there must be a friendlier way of trapping for insufficient memory problems rather than virtually completing a model and then robbing me of the model????

I have a database in my "App_Data" folder of my visual studio project. I can view it fine in Visual Studio's built-in tools for managing a database attached to a solution. However i recently started playing around with the SQL Server Management Studio Express program. When i attach my database to Management Studio, and try to run my program it crashes. Merge Join Crashes Visual Studio With Win32 Exception For Client Tools Installations Only
I have a package that includes a Merge Join. It runs fine on a machine with SQL Developer installed and also on a server with SQL Enterprise. However on multiple machines with SQL Enterprise client tools installed, it crashes Visual Studio. All environments are SQL Server 2005 SP1. On one of the SQL Enterprise client tools machines, I have completely uninstalled SQL and VS, deleted their Program Files remmants and reinstalled with the same result. The machine have been used reliably for several months for fulltime SSIS development and testing without any issues. If the Merge Join object is deleted from that package, it can be run without error. Merge Joins have been used successfully in other packages. The error message caught by the VS JIT debugger is: An unhandled win32 exception occurred in devenv.exe [756]. Sometimes the number at the end is 1220. The crash occurs immediately after the Information message appears in the output window for "DTS.Pipeline Validation phase is beginning". Data Viewer windows have already been loaded. Removing them from the package does not avoid the crash. I'm kinda stuck - this looks like a bug in Visual Studio? Anyone out there seen this? I'd appreciate some help. Thanks - Mike

SQLCe Errors When Doing Developing A SQL Mobile Application With Visual Studio 2005 And SQL Server 2005 Tutorial
I'm attempting to use RDA to synchronize a pocket pc emulator with SQL Server 2005 database by following tutorial http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa454892.aspx, which uses AdvWorksMobile database that comes with SQL Server 2005. When get to testing of "To test application features " ( step 4 of the merge replication setup lab ), I am receiving SQLCe Exception errors. ORIGINALLY, I was able to deploy an application and view the local database on the emulator, but once I clicked "InitSinc" button, I received an error. "Failure to connect to SQL Server with provided connection information. SQL Server does not" exist, access is denied because the SQL user is not a valid user on the SQL Server, or the password is incorrect. Found this error listed in Server Agent Errors log http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172357.aspx, but it wasn't very helpful since it doesn't provide any suggestions on fixing the problems. I am brand new to SQL CE Server , mobile programming and .NET framework in general so please bare with me All the connections / security settings, etc that were set up were taken from a tutorial so I am not sure what SQLCeServer is complaining about. Reading up on the error on the web didn't help, it all pointed to making sure that the snapshot folder had correct permissions set up. I verified that MACHINENAMEUISR_MACHINENAME guest user had Read rights to the database so I don't think that piece is the problem. Otherwise ,Merge publication has been setup in Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio by following the tutorial. I am trying to run this sync on my home pc so there should be no issues with any user permissions I have IIS installed I did NOT have SQL Server Agent running in management studio at this time I am trying to run this tutorial on an XP machine, which is my regular home PC so I dont think there are any special networking settings to consider I am able to hit http://localhost/AdvWorksMobile/sqlcesa30.dll from my pc OK, but when I try to hit it from a cradled emulator ( after replacing "localhost" with "MACHINE_NAME" ), Internet Explorer on the emulator gives me a "Cannot Connect With Current Settings" error message. This part wasn't part of tutorial but decided so not sure if I am supposed to be able to hit it from my emulator..so I am not sure if the fact that I can't hit it is related to the problem. AFTER STARTING SQL SERVER AGENTin Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, I killed the application, and after relaunching it, it hits "The Specified table does not exist [Vendor]" error. This time it doesn't even launch first - that is I dont even get to pressing "InitSinc" button. Debugger is showing that this error is hit on the following line in AdvWorksMobile.AddWorksDataSetTableAdapters int returnValue = this.Adapter.Fill(dataTable); I am not sure why the errors changed on me after starting SQL Server Agent. Pocket PC Remote Sql Server App
Hello- I am interested in developing a remote Pocket PC database application with wireless connection to the database via the internet. Does anyone have experience in this? However, when I try to import my .bak files created in SQL Server Management Studio Express I get the following error:"The backed-up database has on-disk structure version 611. The server supports version 539 and cannot restore or upgrade this database. RESTORE FILELIST is terminating abnormally."I have Googled this error and learnt that 2005 .bak files are not compatible with 2000 .bak files. I'm just wondering if there are any work arounds to this or alternative tools that I can create 2000 compatible .bak files from from 2000/2005 .mdf files.Thanks in advance.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio - Opening SQL-File From Explorer Does Not Connect Automaticly To Server/database
hello, I have a question about opening files in the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio. In the old Query Analyzer from SQL 2000 I can open SQL Files via drag & drop (from explorer to QA) or open it with a double click in the explorer. Then the Files opened, if I had actual a connection to a server / database (QA is stared with one file and has a connection to Server/Datebase), with this connection. Now in Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Management Studio I'll be asked everytime for Server and have to get the database from the database list - it does not connect automaticly to server/database, that is actual connected (I have opened a file with the connection and a connected database in the object explorer). Someone do not have this problem - but we found no option to set it up. Any ideas? thanks & best regards, Christian Kiedels
