Import Large Size CSV File Into Table
I need to import a large size CSV file, around 1 million records into a table, I found that the speed is very slow, it takes 1 minute to import 1400 records. If I import the whole file, it will takes more than 10 hours.

Import Large Excel File
I have a large excel file, and some of the contents of it contain commas. I was wondering how I can import this information into mysql. I was thinking of using csv formant, but think the excess commas in the populated information will cause issues with this.
Large File Stuck In Table
One of our developers has a large problem. He managed to get a 17M file into the db by looping thru and chunking and appending the data into a blob field. Now he can't get it out. :-( Tried PHP 4 ASP / myODBC environs: mysql 4.016 php 4.3.7 iis myodbc 3.51 error is : exceeded max_allowed_packet yet both php and mysql have been configged to handle 32M files.
Reducing File Size (optimize Table)
I have had a DB where I added a huge amount of test data. Now, after having it processed, the DB contains only the date it will normally need. The point is that I can free up more than 1 GB, which will never be used again... I was told that "Optimize table my_table" should do the trick. I know that it orders tables etc... and should be able to free up unused space. Well, if it does, then it does not work for me. How can I reclaim my 1 GB of disk space?
Import Into A Table With A File
Our Database server has moved off of the local machine and is by itself. When I try to run: load data local infile '/Users/test/Documents/CC.txt' into table bi_kinkead.new_macbook; test.reseller_cc I get an error because the file is not located locally. It is locaed on a server called Pluto. What is the formating to use so I can get this file imported?
Size Of Indexes Versus Data File Size
I am adding indexes to a table with about 200,000 records. Every field indexed adds about 2MB to the index file (*.MYI). The index file is around 8MB and the data file is around 10MB. Is there some optimum ratio I need to know about? (I have examined the queries and am indexing field used in WHERE, ORDER BY and GROUP BY clauses.)
Import Data From .txt File Into MySQL Table
i have text files which are generated daily and stored in a folder on the C: drive. I was wondering what would the mySQL command be to import that data into a mySQL table. The text file does not have a header with the field names so would i have to make that table first with the desired columns?? Also, does the file have to be in the databse directory or can it be anywhere on the machine??
Command To Import Tabulated Txt File Into A Table
some of my clients are asking me to do a "import system" in my program, to they import xls data into their database... So i know that there is a code to import tabulated txt files to a sql table.. but i didn’t know the command... can someone help me? just say me the query command that I need to use pls -=^.^=-
Alter Table Based On Comment Header In Import File
I have a text file which is the output of a Perl script that parses Windows Media Log files into a media analytics table. There are some additional columns which are defined by the customer so the actual table format can and does change. The engineer who provides this table has created a comment header with revision information as well as column names. Is there anything I can do to have MySQL look at the comment header and alter my table to include the newly added columns without destroying any data in the table? The column names would always be in the same line in the import file and when a new field is added, it would be appended to the field list, not added anywhere in between existing fields. Example: # FIELDS: client_ip,date_YYYY-MM-DD, time_HH:MM:SS,http_method,c_url,status_code, total_bytes,transfer_time,"referrer",referrer_host,"user_agent", total_object_size,byte_range_start,byte_range_end,last_byte_served_flag, first_byte_served_flag,all_bytes_served_flag, akm_c_ip_country, akm_c_ip_dma, akm_c_ip_lat, akm_c_ip_long,CPROG,MARKET,NG_FORMAT,SITE_ID,STATION_ID,PCAST_TITLE,PCAST_AUTHOR, PCAST_CAT
A Large *.sql Import
I am trying to import a very large .sql file of about 165mb. When i try to import the file i use "source C:DB.sql" and it runs for a bit and then stops. When i try to query on this table it crashes. But when i do "show columns from DB;" is show me the information correctly. I did update my my.ini config file with: innodb_data_file_path = cseibdata1:10M:autoextend still not working.
Import Large Database
I saved my website databgase to my home computer. I am setting up a local version of the site, and need to import the database. I have mysql and everything set up. But when I try to run the sql script that I exported from my site's control panel, I get an out of memory error. What is the proper way to import this database? Do I need to increase some memory setting?
Import Large Amounts
My client has a large database in MS Access. I need to put a section of this (approximately 900 rows) into MySQL to be displayed on a website. The thing is, every month I will be resupplied with updated data, which will need to replace the data that is currently in the SQL database. I am operating on a Mac and they've given it to me as an EXCEL spreadsheet, which I am trying to import into MYSQL using phpMyADmin with no luck. I've tried exporting from EXCEL to various formats, such as CSV, but I can't seem to get it to import into the MySQL database Does anyone know what I can do? I need it to be relatively simple so that every month I can simply reimport the new data. Is there some trick to importing the data from EXCEL, or should I ask the client to supply the data from MS Access in a different format.
Large Phpmyadmin Import And Exports
I have now managed to develop a rather good site that's proving very sucessful. Resting back on my laurels I wasn't being thorough in my testing of the routines I'd put in place for backing up and restoring the databases. Initially all was well and the export routine in PHPMyAdmin was working wonderfully, all databases were being backed up and to reinstall them simply paste them into a SQL Query and it would create everything again. Anyway cutting to the chase, a couple of days ago I was creating a mirror site and I exported the databases and to my surprise the file was truncating half way through the export. Actually it was more to my horror, as we'd been backing up the site's 11,000 members using this method and as we'd received no error messages we just assumed all was working well. Any failure and we'd be up the creek without a backup and a rather important business venture could have gone down the pan. Code:
Key File Size
We have loaded a very large dataset and received an error message stating that the key file is full. How do you go about increasing the allowable size of the key file? I assume by the key file the error message is referring to the .MYI file. Is this correct?
Bin Log File Size
My bin log files get huge and the only time it creates a new one is when the server restarts. Is there a way to make it create a new bin file every week or when it reaches a certain size?
Large .sql File
My ex-host recently gave me a backup of my ftp and database. The database consists of one massive .sql file. I've tried uploading the .sql as an SQL query via PhpMyAdmin, but the limit for files in PhpMyAdmin is set at 12mgb. The database is 32mb. Is there any way I can get the database up?
Large .sql File
i have an oscommerce installation that generates a 200mb sql backup file. i want to try and rebuild the installation on my local pc (localhost) to emulate and play with, unfortunately the 200mb file is difficult to handle. phpymadmin seems to crash. i have console access on the host however. is there a way i can break down the sql file into smaller increments for easier uploading?
Database File Size
I running MySQL locally and have the following dir setup C:wampmysqldatamike - This is where the tables for the database mike are stored C:wampmysqldata - This is where I think the database data is stored. Basically the file in the data dir. (ibdata1) is 10,240kb in size. When I update a table in the mike database the file size of ibdata1 doesn't increase and I don't know why?
202 File Size Limit Exceeded
I am setting up a huge database in mysql, and I get the above error in Linux. I believe it is related to the size of one of my tables, which is 4,294,966,772 bytes in size.
Estimate Size Of Index File
I have designed some tables and need to estimate how much space they will need as they grow. I can estimate how many rows each table will likely grow to, per day and per month, and can predict the size of the MYD file. But I can't seem to find any information on how to estimate the size of the index files (MYI)? I am using MyISAM.
Blob Cutting File Size
I am trying to upload a binary file into mySQL However, when I upload the file, only 28 bytes get into the dB. does anyone know what's happening here? The file just contains raw binary data. I tried uploading a zip file too.. and out of 7 KB only 421 bytes got uploaded.. Perl Code:PHP Code: my $sth= $dbh->prepare( "INSERT INTO blobtest(fileType,fileName,fileSize,fileData)". " VALUES ( ?,?,?,?) ");
Size Of Ibdata1 File Keep Increasing And Never Decrease
I have a strange problem with innodb tables. I have about 10 innodb tables, a few of which can have tens of thousands of entries. These huge tables are clean up regularly. But the size of ibdata1 remained same even after the tables were dropped. Funny thing is that as new entries are added into the newly created tables, the size of ibdata1 increases. And eventually exhausts the disk space. I don't do any strange things with MySQL. Will indexing cause this kind of problem?
Changing Innodb Log File Size - Errors?
I am using MySQL version 5.0 on Linux Fedora Core 4. I recently got this error message: 060609 11:06:29 InnoDB: ERROR: the age of the last checkpoint is 9433557, InnoDB: which exceeds the log group capacity 9433498. InnoDB: If you are using big BLOB or TEXT rows, you must set the InnoDB: combined size of log files at least 10 times bigger than the InnoDB: largest such row. which I interpreted as my log files at /var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile0 and /var/lib/mysql/ib_logfile1 being too small (still at default at 5M). I looked up some resources and they recommended setting the log file size to about 25% of my buffer size, which I had set to 256MB. So I added the line in /etc/my.cnf : innodb_log_file_size=50M But on restart i get the error: InnoDB: Error: log file ./ib_logfile0 is of different size 0 5242880 bytes InnoDB: than specified in the .cnf file 0 52428800 bytes! and my queries started failing too: 060609 12:05:39 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Incorrect information in file: './db/available.frm' 060609 12:05:39 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Incorrect information in file: './db/available.frm' 060609 12:05:39 [ERROR] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Incorrect information in file: './db/site_info.frm' I reverted my config back to a default log file size, and everything went back to normal. Is there a proper procedure that I should follow for changing the log file size?

How Do I Get Around PhpMyAdmin File Size Upload Limit?
I use phpMyAdmin to upload data into my database tables. However, there is a 2MB file size limit on the files to be uploaded. I have over 100 MB of database content to upload. How can I get around the file size limit and upload larger files into my database tables?
Importing Data Via Text File. Size Limit!
I am running mysql/php on my local machine (xp-pro). I am trying to import a lot of data into the database. I have about 50 thousand records. Here is a example of a recordset. "13-01-103-007","32835 BRUGGEMAN","Warren Consolidated","95380","95380","94160","100.000","60.000","120.000","0.165","0","0","Apartment ","0","1.00","1307","C ","Brick ","1626","399","2","1626","1.00","0","1","1 Story","1980","A " The fields are seperated by "," and enclosed by " "" ". When I use phpmyadmin and limit the insert to about 30 records every thing works fine. But when I try to do the entire batch (50,000) it times out or I get a generic error "page can not be found" . I noticed in phpmyadmin that the limit of file size is 2048kb. Could this be the problem? If so can I increase the size of the file? Mines is 14.9 MB. Or not have it timed out.

Method For Importing Large Database File To Mysql
I use phpMyAdmin on my shared hosting accounts. On my development computer I have a large mysql table (270MB) that I want to import into the website database. I believe LOAD DATA won't work for this size and I don't think copying/pasting 600,000 INSERT statements into the SQL query box makes sense (maybe it does?). Has anyone been successful getting importing a large file into mysql?
Importing Large Dump File Into Mysql On Windows
I have a 80 meg dump file created with mysqldump. I need to import it into a mysql db on Windows. On linux, I say "shell>mysql dbname < dumpfilename" But that does not work on Windows. Importing via phpmyadmin is not possible either since we are limited to 2 Meg file size.

Import CSV File
I should import a csv file into mysql table, so i write: load data local infile <file name> into table <Table name> fields terminated by ',' enclosed by '"' lines terminated by ' '; However, I find that it is time consuming for writing the query "fields terminated..............by ' '" since I should import the csv many time. So can I modify the default value of "fields terminated by" so that I could omit that part when I import the file?
Import .sql File
I am working with mysql for the first time. I figured I would try to learn a little about it by creating a Cacti SNMP monitoring server. I have created a database in mysql called cacti. The root password is also cacti. I have been fighting with importing the included cacti.sql file for days. I have tried multiple syntaxes and get the same error everytime. Here is what I have done: mysql> mysql -u root -p cacti cacti < c:inetpubwwwrootcacticacti.sql; ERROR: Unknown command 'i'. Show warnings disabled. ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near 'acti. sql' at line 1 I am sure this is a stupid mistake because everything I read makes it sound like importing .sql files is easy.

Import CSV From String, Not A File
does anyone know if it's possible to import "geek@geeksupport.com,test@example.com,abc@example.com" into a temporary table with 1 field into mysql? This will be coming from a webpage, not a file. I know I can chop it in php and do an insert on each email address, but hoping if there's some kind of built-in mysql to do this.

Text File Import
I'm importing a large text file (8 million lines) into a mysql table via the heidisql front end. Each line has 42 fields (tab separated) so there's a lot of data to bring in. I tested the import with a truncated version of the text file (10,000 lines) and the import worked fine. It took about a minute (i think) to import. Now though, the full version (which is 800x as long) has been importing for nearly 48 hours. Heidisql seems to be still working - it hasn't frozen, it's busy. Is it normal for a file of this size to take so long to import?
Import Txt-file To Mysql DB

I need the "headline" from the txt-file in my "headline" field and so on.. The uid-field has the attribute auto-increment, so i think i must not care about it, right? I tried some things but they didn't work.

Import Excel CSV File Into MySQL
I have used MySQL for little while now but I have never had to import directly from a csv file. I went to MySQL docs and thought I found the solution but it gives me an error. The csv file is in Excel format and has the first line with headings. Here is the SQL statement that I tried but doesn't work: LOAD DATA INFILE './List.csv' INTO TABLE lsi_mailer (ListDate, ExpDate, Company, Address, City, State, Zip, DPBC, CR, County, Phone, Salutation, LName, FName, Title, Gender, Worksite, BType, SIC, SICDesc, BranchCode, ProdDate, MailDate) FIELDS TERMINATED BY ',' LINES TERMINATED BY ' ' ; The files List.csv is in the MySQL data directory. If I take out everything after the fields it seems to work but the data does not seem to import.
MySQL Import Text File Too Big?
Our production database in an exported textfil runs about 60 MB. Compressed that's about 9 MB. I'm trying to import the export into another machine running FC3 and mySQL 11.18, and it appears as though the file may be too big! When I try to do it via command line: mysql -u root --host=localhost printing < ./printing.txt It eventually errors out with a "syntax error on line X" and only about half the tables get imported, and MyPHPAdmin GUI interface says it has a 2MB file limit on importing. This concerns me. If something were to happen to our production database, how am I going to restore it? I tried to do a search on mysql.com, but that's a less than helpful site for support. A newsgroup search on the topic didn't come up with much, so maybe I'm just bad at using keywords.
