MySQL Config
I have installed MySQL on Windows98se twice under different paths, and then
deleted the second installation. When i run MySQL as usual using the line
"C:Program Files
uspheremysqlinmysqld-opt.exe" , i get the following
error msg:

C:Program Files
uspheremysqlinmysqld-opt.exe: Fatal error: Can't find
messagefile 'C:Program Files
usphere2mysqlshareenglisherrmsg.sys'

notice that it runs from "nusphere" but tries to find the errmsg.sys file
under the other folder "nuspehere2" which i have deleted.

I tried looking for a config file so that i can force MySQL to look in the
proper "nusphere" path, but i could not find any. I have also tried to look
for an entry in the registry but came out with nothing aswell.

Have I missed something? Any ideas on how to solve this?

MySQL Config Error
I have been tasked to create a CMS for a website, however first I must install it locally to my laptop.

I have chosen Joomla! as my CMS, and I understand that in order to run that I must first install Apache, MySQL, and PHP (in that order).

Apache installed fine, as did MySQL (the most recent version), however, it will not let me configure it or run the config tool at the end of the installation, citing the message:
"the side-by-side configuration is incorrect."

Does anybody have any idea why this keeps happening and what I can do to resolve it?

MySQL Config Not Running
i'm trying to set up MySQL with IIS 7.0 on Windows Vista Home Premium. After you install MySQL, there's a check box to launch the config app.

if i leave it checked, the app does not load. if i try to run the app by double-clicking its icon it gives me an error saying, "The application has failed to start because its side-by-side configuration is incorrect. Please see the application event log for more detail." I cannot find the application event log, though.

MySQL Config File
I see that there are several MySQL configuration files on my machine:
Quote:
/usr/share/mysql/my-large.cnf
/usr/share/mysql/my-huge.cnf
/usr/share/mysql/my-innodb-heavy-4G.cnf
/usr/share/mysql/my-medium.cnf
/usr/share/mysql/my-small.cnf

How do I know which one my install is using?

Server Instance Config
After installing MySQL 4.1.13a, Server Instance Config Wizard runs. At the end of the wizard it wants to execute, to finalize the configuration. Though once it gets to the point of executing the Service. It fails.

Problems Running With Instance Config Wizard
I can't seem to run the Instance Config Wizard for MySQL 5.0 on my computer. I am running windows Vista and each time I attempt to run the Wizard it responds with a dialog box:

Help With MySQL Installation
I was wondering if any one out there could help me. I'm new at MySQL and just beginning with Kevin Yank's book. I have downloaded and installed MySQL as instructed, everything seems to run perfect until I change the password for the root user. From there on when I try to run Mysqladmin I'm requested my new password but when I enter it I get the following error message.
MySQLAdmin: connect to server at local host failed. Error: 'Host 'localhost' is not allowed to conect to this MySQL server'

I also tried to open mysql command line and I get this error message:
error 1130 (HY000) Host 'localhost' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server.

What am I doing wrong?

MySQL Installation
After downloading the following are on my programs list:

- Remove Instance - Removes configuration file and uninstalls Windows service

MySQL Installation

I clicked on SETUP.EXE. I hit "next>" after reading everything and then finished.
It said it placed a folder called "mysql" in C:mysql.
I opened that...and there are a lot of different items in it.
Do you think you can tell me what to do now?

MySQL Installation
I'm really new on MySQL; I installed it on Win XP.The first problem is that I can't open the manual, the system gives me this error"unable to open file mk:@MSITStore:<MySQLdir>manual.chm".How to fix it?

Trying to test the installation I typed in the shell "mysqlshow" and it gives me the error "Access denied for user 'ODBC'@'localhost'(using password NO)". In the reference manual I found that I "should create a file named windowshosts containing the following information:

127.0.0.1 localhost".Which extension? The name of the file is "windowshosts"?Where have I to put it?

Mysql Db Installation
I installed mysql server and i dont understand what i have to do from this point in order to have mysql database. Do i need to run script for create database Code:

PHP-BB And MYSQL? Installation?
I've got my own web server in my office which i use to run my business web site from. It already has Perl, and I installed PHP last night. I installed it because i want to make forums for my site. I'm pretty new to php, but i'm a fast learner, and decided to have a go. I also installed PHP-BB to make my forums with.

The problem is, it's asking me for a database something? Now i don't know what on earth to do from here. I've tried selected all of them to see if they'd work, but they didn't. I think i need to install some kind of database thing to my server so i can set my forums up. has anyone any suggestions, and if they have, how do i go about it?

MySql Installation
I downloaded the Aardvarkind Topsites (http://www.aardvarkind.com) into my site, and I am currently following their Manual (http://www.aardvarkind.com/manual/install.php) but I am having a little trouble with getting past the installation stage.

I've never really tried using MySql before.
As I've been told, I filled up the inputs with the information I use on my FTP account.

My server/host is pixelbee.net and that is what I put under the "Database" input. I didn't change the one that says "localhost", and for the username, I put in my log-in username that I use for my site, and for the password, my FTP password.

[below is a screenshot of the installation panel]
http://tinypic.com/ebdcn6.gif

anyway, somehow, everytime I click "Install", it doesn't work and some error comes up:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user: 'lovefabillar@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/httpd/vhosts/cute-spot.com/httpdocs/topsite/sources/sql/mysql.php on line 27

Warning: mysql_select_db(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL-Link resource in /home/httpd/vhosts/cute-spot.com/httpdocs/topsite/sources/sql/mysql.php on line 28

and i have absolutely zero idea to what I could be doing wrong..

I've tried putting "http://pixelbee.net" and "pixelbee" under Database, but it still doesn't work.

Mysql Installation
I'm trying to install mysql and when I run the command /scripts/mysql_install_db --user=mysql I receive the following message:-

./mysql_install_db: my_print_defaults: not found
Didn't find ./binmysqld
You should do a 'make install' before executing this script.

MYSql 5 Installation
Downloaded MySql 5 and installed OK. However when I try to set up a MySql instance, using all the defaults and InnoDB tables, the service will not start. I checked Admin->Services and the MYSQL service is there and is set to start automatically but is marked stopped. When I try to start it I get error 1067.

Mysql Installation
I have php and apache set up on my desktop , for my testing server. since port 80 was not accessible, I had to configure my apache server to use port 8080. i have tested these settings and both apache and PHP are working fine. the problem starts with mysql. i have installed mysql to the default C:MySQL . i can not start mysql.i always get the error "cannot connect to localhost (10061)" . i searched for solutions to this error, but most solutions on the forum didnt work for my particular problem. would this have anything to do with my localhost being localhost:8080, instead of the default localhost on port 80. is there any way of pointing mysql to localhost:8080

Mysql Installation
When I am installing mysql database using scripts/mysql_install_db --user=mysql I am getting below error.

060526 [ERROR] ./bin/mysqld: can't find file: './mysql/help_relation.frm' (error no: 13)

when I start server using bin/mysqld_safe --user=mysql & I am getting below error.

MySQL Installation
I am a MySQL newbee and have run into problems straight. I installed MySQL 4.1 on Win XP with the help of Installer. Everything worked fine and I made a database and some tables also.
When I was trying to connect with the database through JDBC program, It shows exception that it can't connect to server.
I tried to reconfigure the instance. There is MySQL Database configuration wizard. I used this thing.
I set up a root password and enabled TCP/IP networking. In the final stage it showed a error message, (I am not recalling the entire message properly.)
could not allow root@localhost(Using password:Yes). It seems there is a personal firewall running in your computer. Disable it and press retry.
There is no firewall on my comp. When i start command line client it asks the password and when I enter it and press enter it exits without any message.

MySQL Installation
I downloaded the tarball that has the source code of MySQL, decompressed it without any problems and configured it. But when I ran:

[root@lae4 mysql]# scripts/mysql_install_db --user=mysql
Installing all prepared tables
./bin/mysqld: Can't read dir of '/root/tmp/' (Errcode: 13)
Fill help tables
./bin/mysqld: Can't read dir of '/root/tmp/' (Errcode: 13)

I changed the permissions of that directory in order to make possible the mysql user to read, write and execute. But there is no difference

Mysql Installation
I'm a nysql newbie. I installed version 4.0 with no problems and was running as a Windows service etc. I was running queries against a test database and everything worked fine. While I was on leave someone removed 4.0 and installed version 4.1 but the new installation refuses to run as a Windows service and I can no longer access the database. Does anyone have an idea of what has happened here. Is there an uninstall process that has not been followed properly etc. I uninstalled 4.1 using the Add/Remove programs option and reinstalled 4.0 but this also will no longer run as a Windows service and I can't connect to it.

New Mysql Installation
I just installed MySQL and the appropriate ODBC driver on IIS 5, and can't make it work. The db server itself is running as a service just fine. Here's the error I get when trying to connect from a PHP script:
Warning: mysql_connect(): Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
I get a similar error trying to connect from a command line.
I feel sure I must have skipped some necessary step in setting this stuff up.

MySQL Installation
I have just started working with Apache, PHP, and MySQL. I had installed MySQL and was working with with marginal success.
I tried installing Apache today and everything went crazy. I am running the Apache in a localhost configuration and MySQL as well. After the installation, I could not log into MySql root. I began to think I had forgotten my password so I attempted to reinstall MySQL. I uninstalled it and rebooted my computer but evertime I attempt to install it stops on the step before setting the security, I think it is when MySql is configuring the host. I do not have Apache running as a service. So with Apache running or not, the MYSql install fails.

Installation Of MySQL On MacOS
I had installed mysql version for MACOS but whenever i am trying to create a database using terminal(command prompt) window it says command not found.

Can any one tell me that this problem is related to installation of sql on mac or why i am getting this problem?

Mysql Installation Problem
I am trying to install myql on redhat.
mysql package used: mysql-3.23.52-unknown-freebsdelf4.6-i386.tar.gz

While following the instructions in install document..when i run the
follwing command..

following errors appear:

This probably means that your libc libraries are not 100 % compatible
with this binary MySQL version. The MySQL deamon, mysqld, should work
normally with the exception that host name resolving will not work.
This means that you should use IP addresses instead of hostnames
when specifying MySQL privileges !

Installation of grant tables failed!

Examine the logs in ./data for more information.
You can also try to start the mysqld daemon with:
../bin/mysqld --skip-grant &
You can use the command line tool
../bin/mysql to connect to the mysql
database and look at the grant tables:

shell> ./bin/mysql -u root mysql

Try 'mysqld --help' if you have problems with paths. Using --log
gives you a log in ./data that may be helpful.

MySql Installation On Solaris10
I installed Solaris 10 on a Pentium machine. Then i
came to know that MySql comes bundled with Solaris 10. So i installed
MySql which came with the Solaris 10. Then i checked the version of the
MySql i installed using mysqlcheck -V and the version shown was 4.0.24.
I wanted the latest version of MySql (5.0) to be installed in the
Pentium machine.

So i downloaded the
mysql-max-5.0.21-solaris10-i386.pkg.gz and installed it as before and
started the MySql server. Again i checked the version and it is still
4.0.24 instead of showing 5.0.21. I dont know what went wrong. The
reason i wanted the latest version of MySql is to use the MySql
cluster.

MySQL Localize Installation
In MySQL features, it is mentioned that it supports
localization/internationalization. I tried MySQL setup installation
but doesn't prompt me for language selection for setup. Does mysql
supports installation in local languages. I want mysql setup
instructions/messages (GUI) to be displayed in local languages. Can
"mysql Administrator" setup also be configured in different languages?

Mysql Devel Installation
I need to install the MySQL development files (headers and libraries) mysql-devel, however I don't know where I can find it, I try the downloads on this page but no luck, anyone can post me the link or procedure how to install it?

MySQL Installation Documentation
EVERY SINGLE WINDOWS XP user who ever installs MySQL has to open port 3306 in the firewall, and make an exception for the binary mysql.exe to allow connections to be made to it. Yet this not mentioned in the installation process.

For another example, the documentation sometimes asks you to enter commands like "mysqladmin version" that actually have to be entered as "mysqladmin -u root -p version".

For another example, the "detailed configuration" sometimes fails at the last step, and the only solution is to uninstall MySQL, re-install, then run the configuration wizard later. This bug is not documented. It is then too late to move the InnoDB tables to where you want them, though; the documented way to move the InnoDB tables doesn't work.

For another example, it is almost impossible to get MySQL to work with localhost pipe connections on Windows. Supposedly you could to this by starting the service with the "--enable-named-pipe" parameter. But Windows XP has a horrible bug, in that parameters given to services entered in the "Start parameters" window of a service are not saved and not used. Most people give up and use TCP/IP, thus slowing the server down and creating a security hole.

This is related to the error "Cannot connect to mySQL server on localhost <10061>", which almost everyone who has ever installed MySQL on Windows gets. Put a friggin' section in the installation documentation about it, already.

Installation Of Mysql++ On SuSE 9.3
I try to install mysql++ for SuSE 9.3, but I cannot compile any C++ program. Does anybody have any experience on this?

Installation Of Mysql 4.0.14 On Windows Xp
I am new to mysql server and trying to install the mysql server on my
windows xp home edition. I have downloaded 4.0.14 zip file on my computer.
I can unzip the file and it generates 10-15 files. When I do double click on
the setup.exe it loads for 5 seconds and then stops. No window is displayed.
No error message is generated.

I thought may be I should try some other version. I downloaded older version
4.0.13 and same thing here. I downloaded 3.23.57 and same thing here.
I am logged in as administrator. I can install other softwares without any
problem. Can you please suggest any thing I should try to install the mysql
server.

MySQL Installation Problem
We are having some trouble installing a MySQL database onto one of our
servers and would appreciate some assistance, details are below.

Installing MySQL v4.0.14 on a Solaris 8 (Sparc) system on a Netra X1.

We have downloaded the source files from your website and have had a go at
trying to install the software following the instructions on the user
manual. We get to the point of configure and we get the following output:

root@stats1 > ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql
NOTE: This is a MySQL binary distribution. It's ready to run, you don't
need to configure it!

To help you a bit, I am now going to create the needed MySQL databases
and start the MySQL server for you. If you run into any trouble, please
consult the MySQL manual, that you can find in the Docs directory.

Installing all prepared tables

To start mysqld at boot time you have to copy support-files/mysql.server
to the right place for your system Code:

Installation Of Mysql++ With SuSE 9.3
I am using SuSE 9.3 with the gcc 3.3.5 and have compiled and installed
the newest mysql++ version 2.0.5 from the Internet.

I can compile my programs, but getting a lot of link errors like
"undefined reference to
`mysqlpp::mysql_time::compare(mysqlpp::mysql_time const*) const'"

My makefile is looking as follows:

CXXFLAGS= -pipe -Wall -W -O2 -I/usr/local/include
-I/usr/local/include/mysql++ -I/usr/include
LIBS = $(SUBLIBS) /usr/local/lib/libmysqlpp.so
OBJECTS = testprogram.o

What is wrong? With my old SuSE 7.2 and mysql++ 1.7.9 everything was
working fine.

Single MySql Installation
I have a novell 6.0 server running MySql v 4.1. We installed mysql to support a program called Orchard per the vendor's instruction.

We have received another piece of software that requires mySQl. This vendor knows very little about mySql. Can I use the same installation of mySql to support both database programs?

Installation Steps For MySQL 5.0

And what is this Open GL required for MySQL Workbench ?

MySQL Troubleshooting After Installation
is what I badly need. I've spent quite enough time trying to figure out what's wrong by myself. Enough of it. Maybe someone can give me a clue what's wrong.
After installation (MySQL) everything runs smoothely (MyAdmin GUI works, passwords are set etc) but when I try to create a database (from DOS console) i'm always denied (Access denied for user) to do that. If I use mysqladmin -p processlist what I get is that I have no privilige set.

In MyAdminGUI at Databases tab I can't create a database. Moreover, in the list of databases I have only the TEST database and nothing else (presumably there should be at least one more as I can see it in explorer). To make it short, I have no right to do whatsover with the programm, everywhere I'm denied (and it's installed on my PC and i'm the admin). The my.ini file looks like in the book and I have not done much wrong with the configuration.

After Installation, Mysql Has No Activity.
I installed Apache, PHP, and Mysql for a local PHP scripting environment. Apache works great, PHP works great. Then I added this bit of code to sort of "Test" Mysql.

<?php
echo '<p>Hello</p>';
echo mysql_connect ('localhost', 'mongoose', 'mongoose');
?>

and I put the echo tag in so that it would print the status of the mysql connection, but it just didn't print, but the Hello was parsed. It seems as if there is just no mysql activity whatsoever.
