Remote Access Not Working: Error 1251 Client Does Not Support Authentication Protocol Requested By Server
I'm trying to set up my MySQL database for remote access. I've never been a DB admin so this is all mostly new to me. I am binding to my public IP address, and I have created a new user with the following grant commands run from the mysql command line on the server:
mysql> grant all privileges on prs_data.* to 'username'@'%' identified by 'change'; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.00 sec) mysql> grant all privileges on prs_data.* to 'username'@'localhost' identified by 'change'; Query OK, 0 rows affected (0.01 sec)
When I try to connect remotely from another host, here's what happens:

#1251 - Client Does Not Support Authentication Protocol Requested By Server; ...
I am trying to get phpmyadmin working with mysql but I get the below errors... Why is this?? "phpMyAdmin tried to connect to the MySQL server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username and password in config.inc.php and make sure that they correspond to the information given by the administrator of the MySQL server." and... " #1251 - Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client " changes in config.inc.php file: $cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = 'http://localhost/phpmyadmin/' $cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'config' $cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'root' $cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = 'pword' Any ideas if I am missing something?
ERROR 1251: Client Does Not Support Authentication Protocol Requested
I have a problem with a MySQL environment. - One server (Windows) - Two instances of mysql (4.0.27 & 5.x.x) - Each instance are running as a service with a different port number (tcp 3307/3306) - Both services are set up with their own parameter files, so they point to the correct binary and data directory When I try to log on through the console against the MySQL 5 database by starting c:program filesmysql5inmysql, then everything is working as it should. If I try to do the same against the Mysql 4 database, it returns an error that the client does not support the authentication protocol requested.

Mysql_connect(): Client Does Not Support Authentication Protocol Requested By Server; Consider Upgrading MySQL Client
I am having an awkward problem with my MySQL installation. I have a number of scripts that access the database from a few different web hosting sites. I have no problem accessing the database from the scripts that I host locally. The scripts that are on an outside server accessing the database gives me a mysql_connect() error. Locally I use MySQL 5.0 and PHP 5.0. I am assuming that the 3rd party web host uses an older version of PHP and thinking that may be the problem. Is this the possible problem and if so is there a way to fix it without ruining the scripts that are currently working?
1251 Client Does Not Support Authentication Protocol ....
I just installed MySQL 4.1 on my computer! While i was working with a Dreamwaver I tried to connect to MySql but i coldn't! The following massage appeared: 1251 Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client.
Client Does Not Support Authentication Protocol
If I create a user, say 'dbadmin' with full access on hosts 'All' and 'localhost' I cannot connect using PHP. I get the error: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client. If I make the connection with root on any of the local IP addresses the connection is fine and the database updates correctly. Any thoughts? I suspect a problem with the use of the socket, but phpinfo() correctly returns the mysql settings.

I am running winXP, mysql, vb 6.0/vbscript. when i connect through odbc it gave me the following error. I recently had a crash with MySQL-Max 4.0.5beta in the Windows 2000 Server inviroment. I uninstalled it completely and salvaged the DATA directories. So i decided to go ahead and upgrade the MySQL to Server 4.1.7. But now I get an error message from all my scripts that tell me the following. Warning: mysql_connect(): Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL Can some one please assist me in fixing this matter. I am very limited in MySQL and have done hours of research trying to fix this matter.
Authentication Protocol
I am having trouble with my MySQL database, so when I run a script I receive the following error: 'Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client in c:wwwdcdjpaneldatabasedb.php on line 27 Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client' I understand that it has something to do with old db access libraries. I really don't understand the instructions to be done, so if I could be provided with a full-detail list of instructions on fixing this error, I'd appreciate it. By-the-way, I looked into the documentation of the MySQL software and looked at the website for support, which was a little pricy for one needed solution.

A problem with MYSQL Front 3.1 that will not connect. I understand that there is a problem with MySQL changing the password hasing functions in ver 4. One solution is to start the server with the --old-passwords flag, how do i add the flag??
ODBC Driver Does Not Support The Requested Properties
I'm trying to log data to a certain schema on MySQL 5 server via DSN. MySQL connector/ODBC driver version is 3.51., running in Win XP. *Sometimes* I receive the following error: --- An error occurred calling 'LogResults' in 'DBLog' of 'DBLog 1.0 Type Library' An error occurred executing a statement. Schema: My Recordset. Statement: My_Table. ODBC driver does not support the requested properties. Description: ODBC driver does not support the requested properties. Number: -2147217887 NativeError: 0 SQLState: Reported by: Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers Source: DBLog --- The worst thing is that sometimes everything seem to be ok but no data is logged to database! This case is very confusing, the logging has been successfull before and I've not been able to trace this. I've checked the basics (SQL syntax, schema priviledges, ...).
Remote Access To My Mysql Server
I ran grant all privileges on *.* to 'root'@'%'; I've got two questions... firstly, when I try to get to it from another machine on the local network it tells me access denied... secondly, I'm on a soho network with a NAT router... what port/ports do I set up to access the mysql server from the outside?
How Do I Setup The Server On A Network Drive For Client Software To Access?
I'm building a database system for our department at work and have successfully installed the MySQL Server 5.0 to my local machine and developed my user interface to access it read/write/update, etc. just fine through VB6 and the ODBC driver. My problem now is how do I get the database files and server functions moved/transplanted/installed on a network share drive (Windows 2000) that my peers and I have access to, so that I can deploy me client user interface onto their machines so we can all access the database across the network and I can get the files off my local hard drive?
Remote Access To MYSQL Server Host
I am trying to access a mysql database on my old host (I'm doing a CMS migration to something on a different server.) My hosting company doesn't have a CLUE what I'm talking about when I say MYSQL server host (I'm not even sure I do). They keep telling me it's 'localhost'. I can access both dbs through their prospective phpmyadmins. Is there any way I can find out what the host server is? I would just export the db and then import it into the other one, but all attempts at that have failed.

Remote Connection To MySQL DB Server From Client With No MySQL DB
I have MySQL server running on a Solaris machine. I have a Perl tool that is run on multiple operating systems (Linux, Solaris, MKS on windows, CYGWIN on windows). I would like to post to the MySQL database on the Solaris machine from this script when it is run on the different local clients. All these clients share a single network share (available via Samba on windows). Is there a Perl module that I can install in the network share that I can use to connect remotely to the server DB?

MySQL Remote Backups - No Access To FTP Or Remote Command Line
I have a mySQL database located on a remote host's server. I would like to schedule a task on my local Windows computer to retrieve a backup/dump of this remote database. I have contacted my host, and they indicated that the server is only open to the Internet via mySQL. Therefore, even if I did have access to that server's command line (which I don't) to create dumps via mysqldump, I would not be able to retrieve via FTP. Does anybody have any ideas as to how I can generate backup files from my local computer through a local command-line interface? I have done it through a GUI (DBTools), but I would like to have it done via DOS batch, so that I can schedule it. Does anyone know of any mysql backup GUIs with command line switches? Or can somebody recommend an alternate means of getting a local backup?
Error Message - 1251
I've recently upgraded MySQL to 4.1 and am tryingto get an old PHP based website to work and I'm receiving the message: Login Validation Failed: 1251: Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client - Make sure your Username, password and hostname are correct. " Searching this site for information on how to solve my problem a reference indicates that I should - "Upgrade all client programs to use a 4.1.1 or newer client library. When connecting to the server with a pre-4.1 client program" What does "pre-4.1 client program" mean? Is this referring to PHP?
Remote MySQL Connections, Still Not Working
I've read, and done all the tutorials, forum posts, and comments I could find regarding setting up a mysql server access for remote connections, but I still seem to have problems. I have a LAMP server running behind a closed router connection. A dynamic DNS is masking the connection, and I have the appropriate ports open for HTTP, SSH, VNC, FTP, and I thought MySQL (3306). But for some reason I still cannot get MySQL to connect from a foreign host. The I have port forwarding (3306) to the correct system behind the router, and I can access the server just fine via http/ftp. The MySQL server is happily running PHP MyAdmin with the localhost connection too. I've set a (actually a couple now) user to have the ip access of "%", and granted all permissions to that user, flushed the permissions, even restarted the server. I still can't get the remote connection to work.
How To Connect Directly To Mysql Server Port (3306) Using TCP/IP Protocol
I want to develop an application in LabWindows/CVI (ANSI C developpment software for instrumentation) from which I could connect directly to mysql server port (3306) using TCP/IP protocol. This developpment environment allows me to use functions to connect, read and write to a certain port using TCP/IP protocol. I must say I'm new to using MySQL and I searched the manual without any response to my question.
How To Connect To A Remote Host Using MySQL Command Line Client
I can't establish a connection with a remote host using MySQL Command Line Client. ODBC conn setup successfully. Databases on this remote host can be reached using Crystal Reports. I open MySQL Command Line Client > prompted to enter a password > done successfully so I can connect to local databases. The following is entered to connect to remote host: mysql -h hostname -u myuserid -p but once I hit enter nothing happens.
Connection String Authentication To My Server
I'm having a tough time figuring out the proper connection string to connect to my existing database. Using: * MySQL server 4.0 on a remote Linux Server. * Developing in VS 2005 (VB) on a PC that is apart of our corporate MS domain. * Downloaded and installed Connector/Net 2.0 Problem: I'm using the connection string: ("server={0}; user id={1}; password={2}; database=test; pooling=false", server.Text, userid.Text, password.Text) When executed with userid="sam" the error message that is returned is "Access denied for user: "sam@<mypc>.<corporatedomain>.com" When executed with the userid="sam@<remotehost> the error message returned is "Access denied for user "sam@<remotehost>@<mypc>.<corporatedomain>.com". No matter what I do, the connector keeps appending my current domain id to the end of the user string. "sam" is a authorized user for the MySQL on the remote linux host (been using it for years).
My Client Needs Access
i am brand new at this. just built my first oscommerce store for a client. the customers upload up to 50 photos on this site and my client needs to be able to get into the database and retreive her files. she has a username/pass but i cannot figure out how to set her permissions! everything is hosted through godaddy and they are not really big on help.
Client Access
I need to run client programs which access a database over the internet (or . Has anyone any experience with this. In particular I'm interested in the performance as compared with access within the local network.
Authentication Trouble About Mysqldump: Error 1045
I got a quite strange problem when I tried to setup a database backup shell. I put it this way: "bin/mysqldump --opt --user=xxx --password=xxx DB > DB.bak" However, error 1045 came to me to say "Access denied for user 'xxx'@'localhost' (using password: YES) when trying to connect". None the less, I'm absolutely full of confidence on my correct username and password, simply because if I do it this way: "bin/mysqldump --opt --user=xxx DB > DB.bak",and input the same password, everything goes well. Could you please give me some suggestion concerning the issue?
PDA Client Or Access Sync Tool
I have a software application with an Access front end and an Access backend to house the data. Recently I converted the backend to MySQL. The Access frontend works fine connecting to the MySQL backend. The issue I have now is that I also have a syncronized database on a PDA. I was using ActiveSync and Pocket Access to create the database on the PDA and keep it syncronized with my PC (backend) database. I'm using eVB programs to retrieve and update the data on the PDA, then all I have to do is sync the PDA with ActiveSync and it will update my Access Backend database accordingly and vise-versa. If that is not an option, on the PC side, I could keep a replicated/synchronized Access database using a third party app (like Access2MySQL Sync). I would still keep the MySQL backend, but also have a replicated/syncronized Access database strictly for use with my PDA. This would allow me to keep my ActiveSync & Pocket Access synchronization process. My problem is I can't find a third party app that actually works well enough to put into a production environment.

Client To Access An SQL Database By Visual C++
I have several problems. I am trying to communicate with a sql database(local) by Visual C++ 6.0 (MFC based aplication). Well i think i am able now to connect to the local sql-server, but i cannot send commands to the sql-server, as create table... or things like that. I searched the Internet but only found source code for C. Well, but i need some for C++ .
Remote Access
I have a MySQL server running on my iMAC and am able to access my databases locally. What steps do I have to do to allow access from a remote PC thru TCP/IP ? The manuals say it can be done but don't specify what is involved.
Remote Access
I've set up a User account called 'test' for my MySQL database (for use from my Uni). The host value for 'test' is '%' but for some reason I can't connect when accessing the Database from a dynamic dns name. Test can connect when the JDBC is run using 'localhost' but the connection attempt simply times out when I change the URL to 'bailz.dyndns.org'. The PC is running behind a router but I can access the web server no problem from outside... it's just MySQL via JDBC that I'm having trouble with.
Remote Access
I have: Computer A, my computer, through which I can pretty much install anything I'd like. Computer B, my webserver, a computer on the network that I installed mySQL, and that uses IIS for its server. It also uses Windows, and not UNIX/Linux. Anyways. I'm trying to setup MySQL so that I can use it remotely from Computer A, either using it directly with something like SSH or Dreamweaver/PHP. However... I'm completely new at this.
Remote Access
I am facing problem when i try to connect to a remote mysql server using mysql_connect command. It give error " Can't connect to MySQL server on {IP} (10061) in" I have even added one user and gave it permission to connect from any host (%) and allowed DB rights too. I have checked that mysql variable -skip_networking is also off. There was fire wall installed on mysql server but that has been removed but still problem is not solved.

Remote Access Through SSH Tunnel
I've got a MySQL database being hosted by a company. The site has phpMyAdmin for external administration, but I'd like to use a program like EMS MySQL manager, or maybe even an OBDC connection for certain things. But I can't get the SSH tunnel to work. I can access the account using an SSH logon through putty, and once in, I can access MySQL using the terminal. But I can't get port forwarding to work. If MySQL is working with phpMyAdmin, shouldn't it be able to work with an SSH tunnel? Code:
Using MS Access With Remote MySQL
I'm trying to use MS Access in order to list, edit, and add data to a MySQL database located on a remote server. I can get the tables to link (via ODBC), and display OK in an MS Access form. However, I can't seem to edit/change any of the fields. Suggestions?
