SQL Server 2000 To MySQL Server
I'm trying to do an export from an SQL Server 2000 Database to and ODBC driver pointed to a mySQL Server Database. The export works if there is at least one record in the mySQL table. If the mySQL table is empty it gives an error that looks like this:
Insert error, column 1 ('field1', DBTYPE_STR), status 6: Data overflow.
The strange part is that the export works perfectly fine as long as there is one record in the mySQL table, if there are no records in the table, I get the error above.

How Much Is MYSQL? Does It Run On Win 2000 Server?
How much is MYSQL? Does it run on Win 2000 server? Does it have reliable ODBC drivers? Has anyone reliably used it with a Powerbuilder application? I tried looking for a FAQ (didnt see one) and doing a keyword search.. a lot of hits - to many threads to digest.

App In Server 2000 Connect To MySQL - MAC
I am absolutely new to MySQL. I came across the need to look at MySQL from an application I was developing using REALbasic. Here is the system: An MS 2000 Server with an application that needs to connect to a SQL database. A MAC OSX 10.4.7 PPC G4 running MySQL mysql-max-5.0.24a-osx10.4-powerpc.pkg. What I can do: I can connect to the MySQL table using the data app in REALbasic on the MAC and make changes etc. What I need to do: I need to create a DSN to allow the App on the 2000 server to connect to the MySQL server table on the MAC to make changes etc. How can I accomplish this?
Communication Between MySQL And SQL Server 2000.
Is there an established (third party software for instance) means to allow communication between MySQL and SQL Server? For instance, SQL Server has a replication service that allows a database to be kept in sync with another one (SQL Server to SQL Server). Does anyone know if such a thing exists for SQL Server to MySQL and MySQL to SQL Server?
MySQL On Windows 2000 Server
I want to install MySQL on to a Windows 2000 Server, I also want to remotely manage it using MySQL administrator, so connecting to the server using its IP Adderss, On windows workstations if you try and connect to the MySQL database from a remote mechine it does not allow you to do it (I have disabled all firewall's etc.). Do you have to install a server version and not LOCAL version of the MySQL server?

Probs With MSSQL Server 2000
Well i have installed MSSQL server 2000 on my PC(OS:XP Prof). And the server does run as well as the agent. I know how to use the registration wizard of SQL server 2000, cause untill i sucessfully complete the registration process i woun't be able to create a database OR use the query analyser. I know how to access the registration wizard, but i at last it gives me an error saying"access not granted, unsucessfull registration" **** like that. And i am using the same PC as the server as well as client.
Lost Connection To MySQL Server During Query / Server Has Gone Away
All of a sudden the server stopped working. When trying to execute a simple INSERT both from PHP and Query Browser, the server crashes and I get either "Lost connection to MySQL server during query" or "Server has gone away" errors. The problem started on 5.0.18, and upgrading to 5.0.41 didn't help. I'm using Windows XP SP2. I've seen quite a few posts on similar problems, but no real solutions though. Is that a bug?
Connect From Unix Mysql Server To Ms Access Server
Im wondering is it possible to connect through my mysql db (running on fedora core 4) and access the ms access tables on the ms access server? I have a connection setup the other way around using an odbc bridge, is it possible to do this the other way around enabling me to view / edit the access tables through mysql.
Mysql Server And Regular Server
I recently decided to get another server to do just mysql, however, I ran into a few problems. As soon as I switch the script to pull from the other server it creates a huge lag between the two and eventually starts timing out the sites. in my.cnf i did do skip-name-resolve but still the same thing. Are there any programs or anything that are maybe bottlenecking it because the site will load in the first 10 secs after i switch the mysql (with a lag) but that lag gets bigger and bigger. The mysql error log doesn't show anything weird either. To further complicate things, another server that was pulling off it worked for the first few hours, then when traffic started to increase, it started doing the exact same thing. (both server loads were low and max connections was not getting even close). Roughly 600 qps, half to HEAP tables.
Linux Server V/s Windows Server ( WebServer - LAMP V/s WAMP)
My client wants to use WAMP ( Windows + apache + MySQL + PHP ). But the site performance is very slow on windows. I dont know the exact reasons. I have seen some benchmark details on internet. But still they are not having concrete facts to support LAMP as a better alternative to WAMP. Allmost all the search done on google melts down to IIS vs Apache, My main concern is "Apache on LINUX" v/s "Apache on Windows" and similarly for PHP/MySQL.
Copy Data From Database On Server A To One On Server B
In an older version of MySQL that defaulted to MyISAM table types I could simply copy the contents of the MySQL/Data/DbName folder to a similar folder on another server and the MySQL on that server would, following a reboot, see the entire database. Using the 4.1.12 version of MySQL the default is InnoDB tables ( and I do want to move to transaction save tables anyway ) - which do not respond to the same treatment. How can I copy and entire database from one server to another ( this new server is at a different site, connected over the VPN ) Both servers are running MySQL 4.1.12 on a Windoz operating system.
How Do You Manage Changes From Development Server To Production Server?
What started out as a simple test of mysql has turned into what is quickly becoming a replacement for our entire business system and web site The bad news is that we are now wrestling with how to we continue working on development the system without risking down time for users. If we work on a development server, how can we log the changes to table structure and then apply them to the live database on the production server when we are done testing? Is there some sort of tool or log that would just let us apply table structure changes to another copy of the database?
Ugrading Win2k Server To Win2k3 Server
I would like to know if there is anything I should watch out for or do before I upgrade my Win2k server to Win2k3 server. I am running MYSQL version 5.0.27 and PHP 4. Which I must admit was a bit of a challenge finding the right combinations of the 2 that work together very well for my setup.
Server To Server Root Prob
Not to sure if this is the correct forum for my problem, but here it is. I have a site running mySQL and the hosting I would like to keep but is in another country, not UK where I am based. I have a domain hosted on another server which I would like to use as the main site domain and is a .co.uk which I belive has to be hosted in the UK. Now when I use the UK domain and link to my overseas SQL data base it changes the path eg /home/www.myurl.com/index.html/..... the /home/ is the problem which causes errors when the database is called..etc.

MySQL -> XML -> Different Server -> PHP
I have mysql server on my ipowerweb host and have a database there. I do not have mysql on my sbc host. I want to take data (3 fields) from the table in the database and display 2 fields on the other web server. Right now I have an iframe that works with everything but IE, but I think XML is the way to go. I'm just wondering how I can get the MySQL data onto an xml file and then take the data from the xml file and use it on my other server on the other site.
MySQL Server
when I execute this command as a su: mysql --user=root --password resourcedb I encounter this problem ERROR 2002: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/ mysql/mysql.sock' (111) I wanted to use my home directory as the repository for my database, so I created a link between /var/lib/mysql/ with my /home/mysql/data file with: ln -s /var/lib/mysql /home/edward/mysql/data preceded by: chown -Rf mysql:mysql data And in my /home/mysql/data directory contain these file links_db/ localhost.err mysql.sock= links_db2/ localhost.pid /resourcedb mysql@ And I am using Linux-Mandrake

SQL Server Db To A MySQL Db
I've been looking around for days and I haven't found anything but I'm sure this must be a common requirement. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms. I need to link a few SQL server databases to our MySQL databases. The choices are, sych them manually using a sql script and a cron job, or somehow set up a link between the 2 and sync them in real time. The former approach may not be feasible in the long run as we will soon need to keep some massive dbs in sync. We also can't link directly to the target db as our system needs to be available even when theirs isn't.
Two Mysql On Same Server
I working in linux CentOS release 4.4 ,i have installed two versions mysql for many application. mysql 4.1 (package) /usr mysql 4.0.27 (compilation) /usr/local/mysql-4.0.27 I can't start the two mysql on same time with the boot of server, because they triying to read /etc/my.cnf and forcing it do not contain same information for the two bases. I have two scripts of different starting and two different repertories of installation my only problem it is that the two versions of mysql will read the same file of /etc/my.cnf configuration.
MySQL Server
I'm trying to restore a MySQL backup to a newly configured Windows 2K Server. The backup was created with mysqldump on a Windows 2K Server, running MySQL 4.0.20. I'm trying to restore the backup to the new box, which is running MySQL 4.1.7. But I keep getting "ERROR 2006 (HY000) at line 1253: MySQL server has gone away". Line 1253 is a fairly large INPUT statement. The backup will restore to other servers without error. Any idea what could be causing this?

Mysql Server
I just finished setting up my linux box to run as a server for web design and as a mysql server. Since I'll be accessing this by domain name...whatever.com...I need to know how to set up my router for this...does mysql need to run through a specific port to work properly, or can I just assign a port to it?
MYSQL And MS SQL SERVER

ive had a PHP script running fine for a number of weeks now, no problems, but today, WHAM, it stopped.I keep getting 'MySQL server has gone away'I have not touched the script, nor that table for a week now, and it did work a few moments before it died. I have tried other scripts from the same server, and it works ok. i've tried the restart option, still happens, i have even tried the script from a different client, but that works, which is confusing me even more...

Server Using For MySQL
I know this matter does not really fit in here but itīs the best section I could find that it would fit: I plan on using a server for mySQL only, that my other servers can access and host their mySQL databases on, but basically I donīt know what changes to do. I guess I should dedicate all the RAM to mySQL in my.cnf file and other stuff? But I donīt know how to do all that. Does anyone probably know about a tutorial on how to do that or could give me some step by step info?
MySQL Server
I can not find how to start MySQL Server or find it. Can sombody please help. I have already downloaded & installed.
MySQL Server Has Gone Away
I backed up my mySQL database before dumping my entire phpbb site and starting all over. And now when I try to import my large backed up sql file that I dumped before the overhaul, I get this message: MySQL said: Documentation #2006 - MySQL server has gone away Which is weird, because MySQL is still there with all the tables (the new blank ones that I want to reaplace) there and working fine. So, what did I break? Any ideas on how to fix this?
Get MySql Server Name Or Ip
I have been searching a query syntax or a mysql variable to get the name or the IP of the MySQL -server to which my ODBC-client is connected to. Most probaply the solution is very simple and obvious but please help - I can not find it!
SQL Server To MySQL
I would like to know how easy or difficult it is to migrate from SQL Server 2000 to MySQL 5.0? In the current SQL Server database I have around 15 tables, and around 40 stored procedures. Will it be enough if I just convert all the tables and stored procedures to mysql? (I am assuming I should be able to convert everything without compromising on any functionality) Is there anything in ADO.Net that supports only SQL Server and not MySQL? Will I need to make major changes in the front end too?
MySQL Server?
I have started developing a software for administrating dental clinics. Since I would use PHP and since I always used mySQL as a db, I was interested in knowing how much a server would cost me. To my surprzie I found out that the mySQL homepage only offers the newest version of mySQL (5) and that it s only sold attached to a servece package, which I guess I will not be needing. The price is also impressive - about 500 which actually killed my enthusiasm because I plan to offer my software for an attractive price. do any know if there are other methods of buying mySQL. Are there other offers that don't include the servevice package? It is possible to buy older versions of mySQL? I don't think I will be needing the functionality in mySQL 5 so if I can save costs there
MySQL And SQL Server
I'm new here and never really use MySQL before but can anyone tell me if there is any problems or conflicts installing both MySQL and SQLServer at the same box. Note: My company already have SQLServer running and we try to add MySQL to it, just wondering if it will crash or cause any problem?
MYSQL Server
I got the following error when trying to connect to MYSQL on host 10.1.25.52 on port 3306 [glgps@bmslpscdev22 ~]$ telnet 10.1.25.52 3306 Trying 10.1.25.52... Connected to 10.1.25.52. MySQL 5 Server
I just installed MySQL 5 on an SME Server 7 (based on RH Linux), over a previous MySQL 4 installation. Starting the server with the "mysqld_safe --user=root &" command works just fine, but the server doesn't start automatically after reboot with the /etc/rc.d/init.d/mysql script. It seems like this script was never updated after installation. I would really appreciate any help in getting this solved so that I can have MySQL start automatically.
Mysql Server
I'm new of mysql database, I'm just trying to learn something, i know this is sound like stupid question because is very basic question, and for me I could not get right answer. I'm trying to find out what is mysql server name is! how do i can find out from my computer! IS that mysql server is name of my computer!
MySQL Server
I am using version 5.0.4. I noticed that suddenly my queries were becoming too slow. I have data in three tables, with 40,000 rows, 50,000 rows and 70,000 rows respectively. I was able to run queries that joined the three tables together and get the results in less than 5 seconds. I tried updating the tables through a program that used a stored procedure to delete the tables but I had some other problems. Since the I restored the data in the tables from backup databases. Now I can't run any queries that join the three tables together, it waits for a long time and then times out. The data in the tables look good. Now I can't get the results from any of the other backup databases either. It look like the entire MySQL server has slowed down greatly. I tried rebooting the server to no avail.
Converting MS SQL Server DB To MySQL
I have acquired a database that is in Microsoft SQL Server format. I don't have access to Microsoft SQL Server, and I need to convert the database to MySQL format. Size is about 250 megs. Any ideas on how to do this? Does anyone know if there is a reliable, reputable commercial service that does this?
