Software Rollout: Configuring Mysql Driver

When rolling out software that uses a mysql backend, how is it possible to configure the odbc driver for mysql during the installation process of the software?

Is there anyway to do this via command line, installshield, batch files..? What would one do if individuals were not "computer literate", and would not how to go about setting up the driver themselves or to make it easier, the software would automatically do it for them?

Configuring MySQL On Mac OS X
I recently tried to install MySQL on Mac OS X box using these instructions on the Mac site (http://developer.apple.com/internet/macosx/osdb.html). All was working fine until I got to this part here:

./configure --prefix=/usr/local/mysql --with-unix-socket-path=/usr/local/mysql/run/mysql_socket --with-mysqld-user=mysql --with-comment --with-debug

I got a bunch of "file not found" errors so I wanna trash whatever I did and start from scratch, but I don't know what exactly to delete? Does anyone have an idea about this?

Installing And Configuring MySQL
System: MAC 10.3.2 G4 workstation

For the past three weeks I am trying to do the "simple" install. But of course it never works the way it reads. I have followed the FAQ and install descriptions that came with the package <http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Mac_OS_X_installation.html>
but i am stuck. At the moment I need to create a database and set the root password. i have no idea why it is not working. the following is the command line and error I am getting. Can someone please help me to install this properly?

Error Configuring Mysql?
I have installed MySQL CE 5.0, but during the configuration wizard I get an error.

It has frozen up during the final step (MySQL Server Instance
Configuration). I'm installing it on Windows XP, and I used all the
default settings, except that I changed "Detailed Configuration" to
"Standard Configuration". At the "Start Service" item in the checklist,
I got a 1045 error message saying to allow TCP port 3306. I tried
creating a rule for this in Norton, but it didn't seem to work.

So then I turned off Norton completely, restarted, tried the wizard, and
now it puts a red 'x' in the "Start service" checklist and says "The
service could not be stopped. Error: 0".

So I don't know if this is really a Norton/firewall issue or not. I
can't seem to get around this final step.

Configuring MySQL For JDBC ?
I'm having a MySQL DB running on one machine and a Java-Tool which accesses this DB via JDBC. With this tool, I can add a second DB data source in form of a mySQL DB and I've installed one more MySQL DB on a third machine, which runs perfect, but the access from the java-tool via JDBC-connection doesn't work.

Command line "mysql" tool work perfect from the machine where the java tool is running. The company which coded the java-tool told me that I have to install a package for the mysql db which enables jdbc. Is that right and what do I have to configure ?

Configuring/Setting Up MySQL 5

Configuring MySQL With Tomcat
I'm trying to configure Tomcat 4.0.1 with mySQL 1.3. I have copied the mySQL driver (mm.mysql-2.0.8-bin.jar) into tomcat/common/lib but I can't get a connection with the database. I can see the database and tables when I use the GUI for mySQL (winmysqladmin.exe). I'm running Win2K and java 2sdk1.4.1_06.

Configuring MYSQL Enterprise Monitor
I was given the setup files for configuring the MYSQL Enterprise Monitor with dashboard for testing in Local.

1. I have installed MYSQL Server to my localhost [Windows].
MYSQL SERVER Version: 5.0.50sp1a-enterprise-gpl-nt.

2. I have installed the MYSQL Network Monitor to my local system [Windows]
With all options like admin login, agent and other details.

But my doubt is how to set my MYSQL DB Server for regular monitoring using the MYSQL Enterprise Monitor.

I.e I just want to know about the Server setting like how to add my localhost server to the Mysql Enterprise Monitor.

We have a Enterprise Subscription but as iam just a developer i dont have the login id so can i get help from here?

MySQL Software
I need some software where i can paste some sql dump of some tables and then define some relations i.e.

table1.id = table3.cid

and it'll draw lines in between those fields to show the relationships.

Access has something like that, but i'm loathed if i'm recreateing my tables in access

Were Can I Get A MySQL Server Software
i can get a MySQL server software that has a MySQL command prompt and a visual thing so i can see how many tables in a database i have! sorta like this...

+-------------+
Database
+-------------+
table1
table2
+--------+

MySQL Datamodel Software
Running mysql 5.0.26

In MSSQL 2000 you can import the tables in a database and click create datamodel and it will draw a diagram for you based on the relationships between those tables. Does such a tool exist for mysql??

MySQL Desktop Software
Is there any type of desktop software for managing a mysql database.Something more similar to mssql enterprise manager?

Mysql Server Software Won't Start
Don't worry about this - I got Vertrigo working but don't ask me how. I've turned off ports and stopped services and done all sorts of things that are a mystery to me but the point is that all the components in Vertrigo are now working.

I have just started using Kevin Yank's Database Driven ......

Following set up instructions has been fine.

When I try to run mysql.exe the dos window pops up and then quickly disappears after a beep. This happens wherever I run it from. There is an error in it but it disappears SO quickly I can't read it.

I searched this forum and as a result installed VetrigoServ. Same thing - when I try to run MySql from there - window pops up, loud beep, window disappears.

I am running as a Computer Administrator on WinXP Pro.
MySql is version 5. I am not at all familar with security settings and ports etc etc in WinXP Pro. I only upgraded to WinXP Pro from WinXP Home last week so that I would have the IIS capability.

Linking MySQL & Private Inventory Mgmt Software
I created my own MySQL database to manage my inventory, and am now hosting other organizations' inventory on my site as well.

Has anyone ever heard of someone linking up a private inventory management software package with an active MySQL database, such that changes in the private package can by uploaded into MySQL as well?

MySql Driver?

I would like to know what kind of problem could trigger this error:

Quote:

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Zend_Db_Adapter_Exception' with message 'The mysql driver is not currently installed' in C:wampwww estlibraryendDbAdapterPdoAbstract.php:79

I am using the Zend Framework and I am simply trying to insert data in a table.

How could I install a mysql driver? phpmyadmin works fine.

Org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
I'm using some 3rd-party JSP tag libraries and Java classes in my JSP, and get the following error when I run it:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.gjt.mm.mysql.Driver
Does any one know where this class sits, so that I can include it in the CLASSPATH.

Mac OS X: How Do I Identify A MySQL DB Driver?
My environment: Mac OS X (10.3.8) "Panther"

This is a very simple question from a neophyte slamming into brick walls.

I'm trying to connect Qt C++ (and XCode/Obj-C) to mysql database.

I'm assuming that the necessary DB driver comes with the standard mysql instillation (like via DarwinPorts on the Mac OS X (10.3.8).

I'm also assuming that the driver is a dynamic library.

1) How do I know that I have it?
2) What does it look like? I'm guessing 'libmysql3.dynlib' or something like this.
3) Is there an env variable to assign its path (for Darwin 7.8 --- BSD Unix)?
4) Or need I just hard link it during the make.

MySQL ODBC Driver 3.51
The table it is selecting on contains 64 rows.
here is an example piece of code:

strSQL = SELECT DISTINCT id from table where id = 10
set conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
conn.Open "Driver={MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}; Server=as3;Database=name","user","password"
set rs = conn.execute(strSQL)
'next line of code'

It takes 5 seconds plus to get the the next line of code from "set rs = conn.exec......."

MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver
I have just installed the MySQL ODBC driver 3.51 on an XP machine
which is behind a proxy.When I configure my DSN, I can't access the MySQL server which is in the "outside" world.I get this error:

[MySQL] [ODBC 3.51 Driver] Unknown MySQL Server Host 'mysqlserver.com'
(11004)

When I click the [Configure] button in my DSN configuration, I cannot
see any field to define a proxy.

Mysql Jdbc Driver Problem
I am trying to connect to mysql database using connector/J jdbc driver
this is my code

import java.sql.Connection;
import java.sql.DriverManager;
import java.sql.SQLException;

import java.util.*;

class JdbcTest1 {

public static void main(String[] args) {
// Connection conn = null;
// Statement st = null;
//R........................

ASP - MySQL Driver Connection Failure
I've installed MySQL, and set up a database (TestDB).

I'm using the following ASP code to connect to it:
set objConnVar=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
set objRSVar=Server.CreateObject("ADODB.RecordSet")
objConnTempVar="DRIVER={MySQL};"
objConnTempVar=objConnTempVar & "SERVER=localhost;"
objConnTempVar=objConnTempVar & "DATABASE=TestDB;"
objConnTempVar=objConnTempVar & "UID=root;" (I know I shouldn't use root, but it's for testing purposes)
objConnTempVar=objConnTempVar & "PASSWORD=12345;"
objConnVar.Open objConnTempVar

When I attempt to access the database, I get the following error:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified
/Routines/DatabaseRoutines.asp, line 94

I don't know how to determine the name of my driver. Most examples use either "{MySQL}" or "{MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver}", neither of which work for me.

I prefer to use the ADO connection, rather than DSN, as I understand ADO is faster. I did install the MySQL Connector, and verified it's connection in the ODBC panel.

MySQL ODBC Driver Error
I am using C# to edit and view a MySQL database. I have added the ODBC driver for MySQL to my computer and I can add the database to my project in Visual Studio. At first it gives me an error and I have looked in other forums and found that there are two periods were their should only be one and I have since corrected this by editing the statementment in the designview with...

SELECT * FROM `mu`.`environment`

instead of

SELECT * FROM `mu`..`environment`

At this point when I click finish, VS2005 says there were errors generated with the tableadapter configuration, specifically the SELECT statement.

ERROR [HY010][MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.26-community-nt]

If I continue anyways I can preview the data just fine, however if I add a datagridview to my form it is blank. In the design view, it is not displaying any of columns. It is like the columns don't exist. What am I doing wrong? Also, I see there is a ADO.NET driver for MySQL, would that work better and if so how can I add the database to my project.

MySQL / MS Access Connection/driver
I'm trying to allow users to connect to my mysql database that is stored on a shared drive through MS Access. I've set up the user with a username and pw and set up a "file" odbc connection in the database. I can connnect using this, the driver prompts me for username and pw. no problem.

But other users on the same network can't use this. They don't get the prompt for the driver/login. Could this be because they don't have the driver installed? Is there a way to run the driver from the server?

Handheld And Mysql Connector/j Driver
can i use mysql connector /j driver in hanheld devices for connecting my handheld database through java application to the mySQl server database which is residing on desktop. Code:

File System Driver For Mysql
Has anyone ever heard of a Windows file system driver that can connect
to MySQL? This would be useful to mount a table in the database as a
drive, and then treat the records as if they were files. Then one
could open and edit the 'files' with a text editor, image viewer, etc.
Of course, the table would have to follow certain semantics, like
having a file name field, time stamp, data field, etc.

MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver Very Slow!
I am using the MySQL ODBC 3.51 driver to link three relatively small MySQL
tables to a Microsoft Access 2003 database. I am finding that the data from
the MySQL tables takes a hell of a long time to load making any kind linkage
with my Access data virtually useless.

I have the MySQL driver setup in as a USER DSN. The MySQL data is sitting
out on a server and the Access database is running locally.

MySQL ODBC Driver In DataLink
I'm trying to use the Windows DataLink (udl) to set up a connection to a
MySQL database.

I've installed the 3.51 ODBC driver from the MySQL website - however, using
a DataLink, it doesn't show up as a DataSource -

How can I get it recognized there?

Is There Any Way To Destroy The Driver Connection In Mysql..
we are developing a project using mysql. we need to kniw how to destroy a driver connection in mysql. is there any method for that.

Configure MySQL ODBC Driver
I'm working on a MFC application and I need to be able to prompt the window "MySQL ODBC 3.51 Driver - DSN Configuration" for the user to configure a dsn connection...

This is like selecting the "ODBC Data Source Administrator", selecting the File DSN tab, clicking one of the dsn links and then pressing configure...

Is there a way to prompt this precise window programmatically?

Can I Use Asp And ODBC Driver To Connect To MySql Database
I just migrated my access db to mysql and I'm trying to figure out how change my connections and code for mysql, I was told that I would have to use php, but I also read that it can be done with asp using an ODBC driver which I have installed on my server. If I use the ODBC driver would I be able use the same SQL that I used to connect to the access DB? what other issues would there be?

SQLColumns Function And MySQL ODBC Driver
The MySQL ODBC driver returns an error when calling SQLColumns function with an empty Table parameter:

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-4.0.18-nt]Can't use wildcards in table name

Is there a newer version which supports wildcards in table name? Actually I don't really need wildcards, but I need to get the list of all columns in all tables.

How To Configure MySQL ODBC Driver To Connect To A Mysql Server On My Own Side Of The Router?
Using MS Access, I have attached to MySQL servers in other states
and other countries on the other side of my router. But when I use the
MySQL ODBC driver 3.51 to connect to a MySQL server on my own LAN,
the driver tells me it cannot make the connection. Here are the ODBC
driver connection parms:

Data Source Name: (free field - name my "my linux box" will do nicely)
Host/Server Name (or IP) - something like MSQLUserName@ServerName.net
has worked fine for me in the past. Now I'm trying 192.168.1.106
Database Name - whatever, mysqldb works fine, any valid db

User - root
Password - myrootpass

Port - 3306 has worked fine 4 me N the past. Dunno whether 2 use now
SQL Command On Connect - haven't ever put anything here

Perhaps there is some configuration in mysql user privilege for the
mysqluser "root" that would prevent him from logging from a remote PC
to the mysql server?

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.19-log]MySQL Server Has Gone Away
My site is hosted on Windows IIS, and I use ASP, and connect to MySQL 5.0.19 via an ODBC 3.51 driver.

MySQL is I think hosted on a Linux machine.

My problem is this:

My site keeps getting lots of these errors messages each day:

[MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver][mysqld-5.0.19-log]MySQL server has gone away

I mean hundreds - e.g. for Feb alone, so far, these errors have been logged in my error table:

Using MySQL 3.23 Driver With MySQL 4 (and Borland DbExpress Drivers)
I've been playing with the Borland dbExpress Drivers, and it would appear
that Borland only have beta drivers for MySQL 4.x.x

However it would also appear to be possible to access a MySQL v 4.x.x
database using the 3.23 client libraries (i.e just get libmysql.dll from
3.23) can here see any problems in doing this?

The only ones I can see is we'll loose some features such as the ability to
use encrypted SSL connections.

URGENT: Error 1316 On Install Of MySQL Connector/ODBC Driver 3.51
I have my Vice President's laptop and trying to install the ODBC drivers for reporting that he needs.. and am facing a time crunch. I'm getting the following error, which I've never run into before. I thought the setup file was corrupt, so I re-downloaded her from another mirror, but I get the same error.

ERROR 1316. A network error occurred while attempting to read from the file

Configuring MyODBC
I am using MyODBC 3.51 with Borland BDE, and was having a problem whereby Blob result fields were being restricted to a maximum size of 32k. Now, in the BDE control panel, I can set configuration variables for the MyODBC driver, and I was able to change the value of BLOB SIZE from 32 to 128, which solved the problem. However, there are many other configuration variables there (TRACE MODE, BATCH COUNT, BLOBS TO CACHE, ENABLE SCHEMA CACHE, ROWSET SIZE, etc.) for which I have not been able to find any documentation. Does anybody know where I can find documentation for these settings?

I'm stuck as what to do next.
cd'ed to mysql....in and ran mysql.exe and gives me the error,
cant connect to mysql server on localhost 10061.

Configuring The Service In Each Start Up?
A couple of weeks ago I posted several questions in one post, and I think I overwhelmed people, so I'm breaking it into individual questions this time.

I don't know why but everytime I use MySQL I need to reconfigure the server using the wizard(I go to start>programs>mysql>MySQL server 4.1>MySQL service instance config wizard) everytime I turn my computer on. If I don't, I get a "ERROR 2003 (HY000): Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)" error when trying to connect to the server in any account. I don't have to change anything when I run the wizard, I just click next all the way, and when its done I can connect normally.

I've noticed that at the end of the configuration when its running through all the tasks, the last one says "Sart service". I'm guessing that I'm not starting the mysql service when I turn my computer on, and that reconfiguring the service solves the problem because it starts the service for me. Do I have to reconfigure the service everytime I want to use it? Is there another way or maybe start the service automatically?

Configuring XAMPP In The Domain
I am installing my XAMPP in my pc.

It works fine. Everything works. My question is, is it possible to install XAMPP inside in my domain e.g., www.mydomain.com/xampp. Please help me to configure it using the domain, not in the localhost.

Configuring Database Server
tell me a way to increase the productivity of a database server. It has nothing else installed other than the newest production version of mysql and the default packages from FreeBSD.

Is there a toaster than can bring me up to speed.

Error Configuring PhpMyAdmin
I'm trying to install phpMyAdmin on a test server. I am using the GUI to create the configuration script.I would like to use HTTP mothod for authentication. As the guide says, I need to create a user and grant some privileges to the user. Here is the problem.
mysql -u root -p
INSERT INTO `user` (Host, User, Password) VALUES('localhost','pma',PASSWORD('something'));
Next I try to grant privileges, but receive an error:

GRANT USAGE ON mysql.* TO 'pma'@'localhost' IDENTIFIED BY 'something';

Error 1133 (42000) Can't find any matching row in the user table.
Now I know the user is there...If I do

SELECT * FROM `user` WHERE User='pma';

I get results, 1 row in set. The password is encrypted, but I did double check with the original user creation line and it is the same and typed in correctly. localhost is also there.So why is it not finding any user when I want to grant privileges?

Configuring Script For Mbstring And Pconnect
i was told i need to "configure your script to use pconnect (persistent connections) to the mysql database.". because "Your site is creating too many concurrent connections (20 is a reasonable limit).".

as well i need to figure out how to add the mbstring function on mysql, so that my pages with special characters (french characters), will load up properly.

Configuring A Database On A Remote Server
i have an aplication on .net for web, with mysql db, in my local server i have no problems, but recently i upload the aplication into a bougt host; when i open the page on the internet explorer or firefox, the page loads well, except for one simple grid. in another part of the aplication i try to insert a record, the app gave the me no error message, but when i check the table, there's nothing new.

i don't if i configuring something wrone, on the web.config. and the worse of all if that i dont get any error?
