Trouble Moving My Msql Database....
Ok, now i've really done this so many times and it's never worked. Basically my current host is really really bad, and i fear it's soon going to close down. My site is a clan, and we really need our forums to be up 24/7.
So basically i wanted to move host.
I found a good host, and so i downloaded a msql backup in cpanel.
And tried to transfer it through "backup" uploads in cpanel in the new host, and my computer freezes. What happens is, it keeps on saying "transfering from 1.127 etc. or transfering from {host url}" and does this for ages. And so i have to close it down and restart computer.
Now when i go to php admin, i can only see 100 tables, when there should be 127, on TWO occasions it's been the same...
And i got IPS errors in my ipb forums when i try to go to link.
So then i try doing it from phpmyadmin, and what happens:
"this {username} does not have correct permission for this database" or something like this. all i want to do is move my database across without any problems. i kno i might have gone wrong somewhere?

Msql Database Set Up
I have created a php site with a mysql database on my win XP pro machine. I used Myphpadmin to create the database locally. I have added about 150 records to the database. Now, everything is working perfect. How do I export that to my host site with out having to do go to myphpadmin on the host site and re create the database manualy? Meaning is there a way I can create a file that i can just import from my host server? Are there any tools that I can use to do this?
MSQL Used As Oscommerce Database
I have installed MYSQL server 5.0.45 to use as a database for a Konakart, oscommerce shopping cart application. Will I need to load all my product/price and descriptions in the MYSQL database tables? A database and tables are configured in MYSQL during the Konakart installation process. Specific product names are not included during the install process only a generic database and the tables, e.g. product name, product description etc. However the ability to specify my products, descriptions, prices etc. are provided for in a Konankart admin application,(TomCat server)separate from the shopping cart itself. Will this also load this info into the MYsql database? I have an existing web site with a java script shopping cart presently. I want to utilize the Konakart oscommerce cart on my existing web site after configuration with product info on my present site. Is there a way to transfer this product info i.e. description, price, shipping costs to the MYSQL database or to the oscommerce program?
Get Trouble With Restore Database
I truly get trouble with my database. I transfer from a shared hosting to another one. Thus, I make a backup file called svduhoc.sql. My database is so large over 160MB. Of course we can not restore database by phpMyAdmin. Therefore, I use another way. Although I have tried many times, I couldnt restore. I even asked for the help from techincal support of my new shared hosting. However they told me that there could be a problem and recommended me to come over here to get your help. Both of us: technical support and me got the same error at line 11923. Whenever we restor, it quits at the same the line 11923. So what should I have to do now? I really get mad and stress because I couldn not lose this database. It is very important to me. If anyone can fix this problem and successfully restore my database, I will pay $50 bucks even though I am poor student now. Because it is very important then I need all your help. You guys can contact me here or pm or email "tony_hai@hotmail.com"
Trouble With Accessing Database -- Too Many Rows?
The database is used for an online game. One of the tables keeps track of all the lands in the game. There are 7 continents, each with a different set number of regions (239 in total). Each region has 625 sectors, and each sector contains 25 lands. The total number of rows in the database is 3,734,375. I recently populated the table with the necessary rows. The table comes out to over 93MB. I've already modified the structure of the table to maximize the space usage. I had no problems accesses my database before populating the world. However, now that I have, I can't access the database as a whole. I can send queries to select certain tables (such as the user table), and even check out the individual table structures in phpMyAdmin. But it locks up every time I try to connect to the database directly (ie selecting the database using phpMyAdmin or connecting through the game). I suspect it's because of the huge amount of data in the database. I tried to send a query to delete all the records in the land table, but it doesn't go through and just locks up.
Trouble Updating Mysql Database
I am trying to update my Mysql database with a dataset. The dataset is created and filled on a handheld device running the SqlCE server. I then call the dataset from the handheld via a web service. Running the mysql data adapter and executing the Update method does not seem to work, (I think its because the dataset does not recognise any changes made to it). Can anybody please help me in this regard, or just send me some links with GOOD examples of where somebody is getting it to work.
Moving Database
what is the simple way to move and restore my database from 1 pc to another pc (in my case : notebook) ? I already setup my new notebook with same configuration with my old pc, and now I would like to migrate my existing database from old pc to new one (new fresh mysql is already in there). The db size is quite small and can be contained within a usb.
Moving Database
I have about a 2 GB Innodb database in MySQL 4.0.12 that I need to move over to a maching that has 5.0.37 installed. Both are WinXP Pro SP2, and on the same subnet LAN. When I use the MySQLAdmin GUI tool and back up the database on the first machine, it backs up the database and the mysql database fine. When I go to the second machine and run MySQLAdmin GUI tool, it connects to the second machine fine, but when I try to run Restore, and it starts to analyse the backup file, it goes for about 204000 bytes and then says Please tell me, step-by-step the easiest and best way to move the 4.1.12 database, along with its users and permissions from that machine to the machine running 5.0.37
Moving Database
I am currently in the process of moving a mysql database on my old server to a new host. But I am running into a problem. The old host I had was using mysql 4.1 on their server and the new host has 4.0. It didnt seem like a problem at first but now when I try to import the database even in 4.0 compatibility mode when I exported it, it wont work. Is it not backwards compatible or something?
Moving Database To New Server
One of my clients is moving to a new server. The site has a MySQL database, so I need to export it from the current server and then import it to the new server, correct? The current server has PHP Admin for a utility tool, but offers a bunch of settings I have no clue about. What are the appropriate settings to make the trasition to the new server as quickly and easily as possible? See attached image.
Moving Database To A New Sever
I am trying to move my database to a new dedicated server. But when I try to upload it to my server I get this [root@ root]# mysql -uroot -p quad4 </home/josh/mysql/01.08.2006.sql Enter password: ERROR at line 6304: how can I edit the file to see what the error is? When I try to open the file it maxes out my system resources. What would you suggest to edit this?
Moving A My SQL Database To A Different Host
I have a number of databases and 3 hosts I am currenlty using. One of the hosts has too much down time and I would like to migrate the database before I address issues with him. I want to get the full structure and content across to my new host which had a much better time on line. I am using cpanel for access on the new one and Myadmin on the other both have my SQL and php running the interfaces look virtually identical from this persepctive. If I download from one and upload to the other should I just do a simple download upload operation or do I need to install the database in some way first. The help I've seen talks about command line access but the interface on each is a bit more WYSIWIG than command line so using the tutorial is proving to be interesting.
Autonumber And Moving A Database
I am going to be moving a database to a new remote server. Are my autonumber fields going to be affected? Many records have been deleted so the autonumbers are no longer sequential in the tables. My concern is that when I insert them into the new server that he autonumbers will be redone and break my relationships. Is there a setting I should change or procedure I should follow to avoid this? -Pete Do you get a little guilty pleasure when a celebrity has a bad day? Code:

Moving Database To New Machine
I'm trying to relocate my site to a new host and I'm having a lot of trouble moving the database. I did the export for the old host/database with phpmyadmin. It saved to a txt/sql file with no problems. When I try to import it into the new host/database I get all kinds of syntax errors. Then I realized, after purchasing the new host that: Old host/db = MySQL version 5.0.24a New host/db = 4.0.27 Is there any way to convert a 5.0 db to 4.0?
Moving Database From One Computer To Another
I glad to be part of this community. The problems I am having is that I need to move the information from a database that I have created on my portable computer to a desktop computer. I zipped the files and then unzipped them in my other pc but the infomarmation was not recognized. I then tried a back up restore and still the same. Is there a way that you can transfer the information without having to recreate the database.
Moving Forum That Uses Database
AOn my website that I am busy rebuilding, I have a forum that uses the MySQL database. The current path of the forum is this: ingwaz.nl/main/ingwaz.nl/berichtenbord/mercuryboard/index.php Which is obviously way too long, blame it to inexperience when it comes to designing websites  I want the path to become this: ingwaz.nl/main/berichtenbord/index.php The question is, can I move the forum from one folder to another without problems or is this going to mess up the linking with the tables in the database?
Moving MySQl Database
I've tried moving the database from one partition to another and now I'm = getting the following error: # Starting mysqld daemon with databases from /data/mysql 030820 23:48:08 mysqld ended When I issue #/ /usr/share/mysql/mysql.server start Anyone have any idea what's gone wrong. I changed the datadir in both = /etc/my.cnf and /usr/share/mysql/mysql.server. This is on a MySQL-3.23.55-1 server.
Moving Database Queries
I have development server at home which i use to develop my PHP - MySQL code. Recently I finished the database and some pages and I wanted to move it to dedicated server at my provider. I exported whole database using MySQL-Front and imported in on the server without problems using mysql -u root -p < database.sql. Everything seems to be OK but queries that take 2seconds on my machine takes forever on my dedicated server.Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem? I'm using 5.0.24a-log at home and 5.0.27-log at dedicated server.
Moving A MySQL Database
I know that you can export the sql to a file, which I have done already. But to make it work on the new server what do I do? Do I just upload it and run the file? Or do I need to SSH it? Or can I write a PHP script to create the database and subsequently insert all the data?
Restoring / Copying / Moving Database
I am trying to move a datbase from one machine to another. I have tried two different methods and neither are working. First I tried using : >> mysqldump dbName > backup_file.sql >> mysql dbName < backup_file.sql as the manual outlines, but I have a number of foreign keys resulting in errno=150 because the second command above is trying to restore data which is supposed to be linked to data in other tables that don't exist until that table is reached. So then I tried : >> mysqldump --disable-keys dbName > backup_file.sql >> mysql dbName < backup_file.sql But that did not work either. The most obvious choice at this point is to create a script to restore the tables in the proper order, but this seems kind of tedious and a maintenance headache if tables are added / changed in the future. Next, I tried to simply copy the entire folder for the database. This folder contains *.frm files only (we have created all InnoDB tables). I created the database first then copied the files over to the appropriate folder. When I try to look at the table using the MySQL Control Center I get the error "Error 1016 : Can't open file 'filename.InnoDB' (errno : 1)" I even moved the entire mysql installation folder, but received the same error?
Md5 Problem After Moving Database To Another Machine
I moved my MySQL database to my own web server (Windows NT4 server, Apache 2.0.55, PHP v4.4.0, and MySQL v4.0.26). I used "mysqldump" and "mysql -u root -p ccs < sqldumpfile" to backup and reload the tables. Some PHP scripts that work fine on my ISP (MySQL v3.23.58) do not work on my local PC (MySQL v4.0.26). The part of the select statement where the problem lies is: and password='".md5($MD5_PREFIX.$_POST["password"])."' I did some testing via the mysql command line interface and it appears that the md5 function is generating a different value. If I set the password to '123' with no encryption and remove the md5 stuff from the PHP script it works (the $MD5_PREFIX has not been changed and I even did some testing in mysql by hardcoding the value) -- so I'm pretty sure the problem lies with the md5 function. Is there a difference in md5 between different versions of MySQL? If not, can someone point me in the direction of a solution?
Moving Database To Alternative Machine.
Have installed version 4.1 on 2 machines. I am trying to copy a database that i created on one machine by simple going to the data folder and copying the database folder pasting it to a removable device. I then copied the folder into the data folder on my second machine. However, when i attempt to do a select * on any of the tables on the second machine, I am told that the table is corrupted or does not exist.

Moving An Existing MySQL Database From
I have an existing database already created on 4.0.25-standard. It is too large to import to my new server via phpmyadmin, so I'm using mysqldump. The new server has MySQL 4.1.12 instead of 4.0.25. I am running this command: mysqldump -u root -p starfall < smf1 --create-options --compatible=mysql40 but I get this: Code:
Moving Mysql Database From MAC To Windows
I have to move a database from a MAC with MYSQL to Windows. The MAC has MYSQL 4.0.18 loaded. The phpmyadmin is not working on MAC machine so I tried to just copy the database files to the Windows machine mysql 4.0.21 After this mysql crashes when I try to open the databases with phpmyadmin. A popup window appears and called DBUG Test signal Confirming this message causes mysql to fail. In my phpmyadmin it get the message server not responding. I also tried to recreate the empty tables on the Windows machine and just copy the .MYD and .MYI files into the Windows machine, leaving the .frm files. This worked on some tables but on others I have corrupted data in it and some tables are shown as in use. The MAC mysql database does have 2 files that the Windows doesn't. ._.DS_Store and ._DS_Store. Are the MYSQL files for those 2 system not compatible? If not How can I convert the database files? The database is still working on the MAC so I do not think the database is corrupt.

Problem Moving Files From The Database To A Folder
I have install an upload script on my website. The mp3 files are stored in a mysql database. I like to move the files to another folder. I have read about the string "move_uploaded_file" but I don't know where to place it. On the upload script or on the mysql database?
Moving Mysql Database From Linux To Windows
I have to move my mysql 5 database from linux to windwos system. Can this be done by moving files from data folder or do I have to dump the data then import it back to new system?
Moving MySql Database To Hosting Server
I'm having a MySql database running fine on my local machine (WinXp Pro), where Apache2 is running as a local server. My database application (PHP) is doing everything it needs to do on my local server. The next step is to move my database to my hosting site. I see that my hosting site (siteflip.com) is using cPanel as an interface to my web space. I can create new MySql databases and via phpMyAdmin I can create new tables and content. However, I'm looking for a way to get rid of these things. I would like to put my MySql files (so, tables and records, the whole content of my database), which are on my local PC (in the 'datadir' directory), directly on the site. Does anyone know if this is possible and so, how it can be done?
Populate My Msql

Running 2 Msql Servers
I want to run two mysql server on the same win xp machine independent of each other: one on 3306 and one on 3309. How and what files do I have to modify to set the second server port to 3309 permanently.
Msql SET Type Column
If I have created a table including a set type field and I am using a multiple checkbox type form to load data how do I do this? nothing I do seems to work the elements in SET have been predefined, however only one option wll load into the database when I should be getting two or more, can anybody assist,
Msql Update Query
I am trying to tie a mySQL UPDATE query to a variable in php to determine whether or not the query updated any rows or not. All it returns is whether or not the query was successfully executed. I have tried using the mysql_affected_rows() command, but as there are multiple users performing the same action this could lead to ambiguous results.
Msql Table Structure
I'm planning(and just started) to set up a webshop. To use this webshop everyone has to register themself first with personal information, like address, where they live, phone number, birthdate, username, password, email etc. Also I'd like to store some information on what they have bought, referance number of products they have bought, personal statistics and so forth. I'm all new to mysql, so I'm sorry if this may sound like a stupid question. How should the table be set up? Is all this info I mentioned above too many cells for one mysql table? Should I use many tables or would it work good with just one? If I should have many tables, how do I interconnect with them? like if I had one table for logon info, and another table for products/shoppingcart, and another for personal information.
Trouble With MAX
I can't seem the get the MAX to work. I'm not getting any errors, but it doesn't show any results. I want to show the last Samples order ID that was used for putting in new sample sales, so that we know which number is next. All sample order ids begin with S. Here is the query: Code:
Having Trouble With An SQL Statement
I have the following tables (only relevant fields are shown): competitions id = competition ID portfolios id = portfolio ID comp_id = competition ID actions port_id = portfolio ID What I want to do is put together an SQL statement that, when given the competition ID, will delete all portfolios that have that comp_id and all actions have the port_id of one the deleted portfolios. That is, there is many portfolios for each competition. There is many actions for each portfolio (and therefore with each competition). I want to delete everything that has to do with the specified competition.
Trouble With Exists
This query looks perfectly fine but I keep getting an error. MySQL SELECT jobId FROM jobs WHERE EXISTS ( SELECT jobId FROM workOrders WHERE workOrders.jobId=jobs.jobId AND workOrders.status <> 7 AND workOrders.status <> 6 ) Here is the error #1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax near 'EXISTS ( SELECT jobId FROM workOrders WHERE workOrders.jobId=jobs.jobId ' at line 3 Does anyone see anything wrong with this? I'm starting to think I'm brain dead.
Trouble With Insert Last ID
I have a form that is completed and some data is put into a table called workorder, the images uploaded go into a table called images and the parts go in a table called parts. I need to be able to retrieve these items so I have created tables that will tie the parts and images into the workorder table. (workorder_parts and workorder_images) The problem is that when I try to get it to use the last_insert_id() it is only putting a 0 in the field. The other issue is that I am not sure how to tie in multiple rows from each workorder together. By this, I mean that their could be up to 4 images or 7 parts inserted into the table for each workorder. This is how I have it setup right now, but it isn't working. The initial data is going into the workorder, parts and images tables, but no data (only zeros) is going into the table that ties them together. mysql_query("INSERT INTO workorder (work, name, sched, site, serial, hours, starts, issue, severity, resolution, assistance, safety) VALUES ('$work', '$name', '$sched', '$site', '$serial', '$hours', '$starts', '$issue', '$severity', '$resolution', '$assistance', '$safety')") or die(mysql_error()); //mysql_query("INSERT INTO workorder_parts (number, workorder_work_id) VALUES ('number[]', 'last_insert_id')")or die(mysql_error()); mysql_query("INSERT INTO workorder_image(image_image_id,workorder_work_id) VALUES ('$image_id', 'last_insert_id()')")or die(mysql_error()); mysql_query("INSERT INTO `image` (Upload) VALUES ('$file_name')")or die(mysql_error()); $query = "INSERT IGNORE INTO parts (description,number) VALUES ('" . $description[$key] . "', '" . $val . "')"; mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error().$query);
Trouble After Going To New Server
Our website has recently been moved to another server. Since then I've noticed that my MySql queries look like this: WHERE `firstname` LIKE CONVERT( _utf8 'john' USING latin1 ) Instead of this: WHERE `firstname` LIKE 'john' I'm not sure what is happening or why. Everything seems to be working fine, but I'm wondering if this is a problem I need to fix to avoid issues down the road.
Trouble With A Date
I used 'Date' for the date field in a database. I try to date_format it, but it will only let me have the date with the year first etc. Is this the way it is with the Date property? Each of the tutors I'm using seems to have a different preference - Date, Timestamp etc. Is there a best property to use for dates, please, experts?
Trouble Assigning Value
in my code i have the following: tableName!Date = "2006/12/07", where "Date" is the name of the column in the mysql table and it is defined/has a type of datetime.. When i get to this line of code however, the value of date stays null. Ive managed to assign other fields in the table similarly (e.g. tableName!fname = "Frank".) I believe it may also be a keyword and thats my problem, but I'm uncertain. Does any one have any suggestions as to why this wont work for the date field?? If its due to the fact its a keyword, how can i still pass the value without changing the column name in the table?
Trouble With 'insert'
I'm trying to insert multiple names in a table and it doesn't want to work... I am a complete noob, sorry. this is the code that doesn't work, i get an unspecified error. insert into delegates (delname) VALUES (“Watkins M Abbitt Jr”, “David B Albo”, “Kenneth C Alexander”)
Connection Trouble
Im having trouble connecting to a database on a remote server, i didnt have problems before and cant understand why im suddenly having problems now. The error message i get is "Cant connect to MySQL server on (name of server here) " Im using a program called MySQL-Front as ive not got phpmyadmin installed on the remote host.
Trouble With A Query
Im dealing with two tables student(columns are sno, sname, address, and sex) and results(columns are cno, sno, and score). I need a query of he snames of femal (sex = 'f') students who take every course taken by J. Brown (sname). So far I have: Code: SELECT student.sname FROM student, result WHERE student.sno = result.sno AND student.sex = 'F'; Now what I am having trouble with is finding the females who are in every course with J. Brown. Now cno from the result table is the course number I need to do something with that but I'm not sure what. Do I need to use a GROUP BY or something along those lines?
Mysql Import Trouble
I'm using the following code to import a .sql file. mysqlimport --local -u root -pCENSORED teraspot_db /home/default/teraspot_db.sql and I get this error mysqlimport: Error: Table 'teraspot.teraspot_db' doesn't exist, when using table: teraspot_db I got the .sql file from exporting the database in phpmyadmin on the old server. What am I doing wrong?
