Uninstall MySQL 5 On Mac OS X
I have installed mysql 5 on my mac and now I can't uninstall it or at least I don't know how to. The reason for the uninstall is I want to use MySQL 4 (which is already on my Mac...I forgot about it when I installed MySQL 5).
How To Uninstall MySQL 5.0
-- I downloaded MySQL 5.0 thinking it would only make things smoother for me, since updated versions include bug fixes, and smoother operation. I quickly found out that I shot my self in the foot by doing this. The book teaches you as if your only using the previous version, this isn't that big of a deal, but when I'm just starting out, I need to follow the book exactly word for word for *me* to learn it properly. -- So far, I've tried the following to remove MySQL 5.0 so I can go back and install MySQL 4.0.20. 1. I moved my MySQL folder from C:Program filesMysqlMysql 5.0 serverin to C:MySQL (I had some DOS problems and had to move it in order to fix that problem). 2. It was after fixing this DOS problem that I realized I needed to remove 5.0 and get 4.0.20. I tried to do an add/remove programs, and it simply removed MySQL server 5.0 from my "add or remove programs" list, but all my MySQL files were still there (Most likely because I changed directories without knowing it would effect uninstallation). 3. Next, as more or less an experiment, I installed MySQL 5.0 again in the original directory (C:Program filesMysqlMysql 5.0 serverin). Then I went back to add/remove programs and removed it again. After a reboot, it removed all the files except for "data" folder, which leads to a "mysql" folder with a bunch of files, titled host, columns, tables, proc, time zones, e.t.c. 4. I've checked multiple tutorials on MySQL, including this site, and all I can get is how to *update* an already existing MySQL to a better version. Or how to remove MySQL as a service. All I want here is to completely remove MySQL 5.0 from my computer, so I can start fresh with MySQL 4.0.20. -- So now for my question =P. I simply need to know how to completely remove MySQL 5.0 from my computer, thats it. The catch is, I kinda have two installed now. One with all the files, and one with only the "MySQL --> data folder --> MySQL folder" (Which I described earlier). If anyone can add some insight on this I would greatly appreciate it, I should have just installed the previous version from the start.
Uninstall MySQL On OS X
I have installed two different version of MySQL - MySQL 4.0.24 - MySQL 4.1.11 After that I decided to uninstall them to perform a new clean install of 4.1.11 I have deleted both - MySQL 4.0.24 - MySQL 4.1.11 in /usr/local/ But after a reboot ( and nothing in the Startupitems folder) MSQL.prefPane still says "The MySQL Server Instance is running" and I cannot use the "Stop MySQL server" buton as only the "Start MySQL server" is available... And if I use it, I have this message "Could not startup MySQL Server. Reason: Internal error". Code:

Uninstall Old Mysql Completely Red Hat 9
I have been running phpbb for a couple years on this machine I have. It has run flawlessly until just recently. We were unablbe to access the webpage and all, though other services were still being hosted fine. It seemed like a good time to upgrade apache/mysql/php. I am running red hat 9 on the box and I just downloaded the source files for each and compiled and installed. For whatever reason we can't seem to get the mysql to integrate back in correctly. What I would like to do is COMPLETELY remove every trace of the older mysql install and then reinstall.
Uninstall In Order To Restart
I installed mySQL on my Mac and it worked fine. But when I went to start up the mySQL monitor through the mySQL preferences pane it did not work. Then I installed it again which completely messed it up. I then proceeded to delete all of the files located at /usr/local/ and tried to reinstall it. This did not help because when I tried to start up mySQL in system preferences I still got a message saying "You cannot open mySQL preferences pane on this computer. Contact the developer of this software for a newer version." I was hoping to simply completely uninstall mySQL and start from scratch or if anyone has another idea I am open to suggestions.
Can't Install / Uninstall MySQL
we have a server on which someone blew away the MySQL 4 progs directory before installing MySQL 5. How To Uninstall The Mysql Sevice?
First I installed mysql 4.0.20d on my winXP SP1 laptop. And then I wanted to install a new version and forgot to uninstall it in normal way. While the binaries of mysql was deleted, the mysql service still stayed there. I installed the mysql 4.1.12a, but its sevice couldn't be launched by the Config Wizard. I supposed that the old version service caused it, but I don't know how to delete it.
Totally Uninstall MySQL
I have forgotten my password(s) for MySQL. I have uninstalled MySQL Server 5.0 and removed the directory. Upon reinstall, I gave it a root password. If I try to access via Query Browser or MySQL Admin it still defaults to my old user name. I have tried the command line prompt with the new root password but access is denied. I am just starting and I have no usefull data so I can wipe it clean and reinstall from scratch if anyone can tell me how to eliminate all traces of the prior installation.
