WAMP Upgrade - Now MYSql Not Working

I have been running WAMP on my local server for sometime but I needed to upgrade so I downloaded the latest version, stopped WAMP and installed the new version. The Php is working ok but the MySQL service won't start and I even tried starting it in the Services. When I browse to MyPhpAdmin I get this error:

No Response From MySQL From PHP With WAMP On XP
I am new to PHP/MYSQL and am setting up/running Apache 2 as a development platform on my Win XP pc.

I have succeeded in running php scripts on Apache but when I attempt to connect to mySQL I don't receive any response whatsoever, not even a helpful error message.

I have attempted binding the address in my.ini to 127.0.0.1, and have moved the mysql_connect script various places within my "www" structure.

I understand that certain firewall applications on XP can be problematic.  I feel that there is probably a simple fix that I'm overlooking; I'd like to find it before I start tampering with my protection software.

Here's what I'm running into.  Running the following script produces only "point 3", which makes me believe that the script is bailing out around the _connect command:

Code:

MySQL Import On WAMP
I installed WAMP on XP to use a test server and can't figure out this silly windoze command line thing for MySQL. It seems my linux commands are Klingon to Windows.
I try this..

mysql> username -p database < c:wampwwwfile.sql

and I get a bunch of syntax errors. I tried dual slash and everything and it's not working. The file is 80MB so it has to be done at the command prompt.
Is there anyone out there? Is there anyone listening?
I've searched low and hi and there doesn't seem to be a page with how to do this. I've seen LOAD but that's just for a table.

WAMP Issue Please Help!
I installed wamp onto my laptop (it's new) and everything went fine except that when I try and access the phpmyadmin from the control panel I get the error message 'php tried to connect to the mysql server, and the server rejected the connection. You should check the host, username password in
config.inc.php

then it tells me

#1045 - access denied for user 'gokeeffe' '@' 'localhost' (using password YES)

This is not the password that I set and I checked the config file and everthing seems to be inorder. Does anyone know what is wrong.

Why is mysql + phpadmin so difficult to install?

Phpmyadmin After WAMP
I cannot get into phpmyadmin after a WAMP reinstall - here's the error:
#1045 - Access denied for user 'root'@'localhost' (using password: NO)
What do I need to fiddle with to get this to work?

Uploading Tables From Wamp
i have been working on a test project in wamp.
and now i am trying to run it online.
i already uploaded all the html and php files and its now up and running except the databases.

my question is, how do i upload my mysql databases or tables?
on what directory should i put the mysql files?

WAMP Server Solution
I have been working as a LAMP Solution Developer where my technical specifications for the LAMP solutions are:

Database backend server is MY SQL running in HP-UX (Hewlett Packard UniX) where I database composed of 9GB.

My web server is running on WAMP’s version of Apache HTTP Web Server and my application server is running on WAMP’s PHP version and the platform running on the Web Server is Windows XP on the staging or testing environment.

References I use is the wampserver.org

The problem is when the client processes some reports from the Database by the PHP Web Page and generates reports through the Php, after 1 hour of validating it expires.

Is there a script or an accelerator where I can use to increase the speed of the Php Page without having a page expire or the mysql table itself must be reduced so it can be easily accessed by a Php?

Connecting To A Database Using WAMP
I'm currently using WAMP to work on existing website and database material. I downloaded the required website, but it didn't run without the database online, so I dumped a copy of the database to my hard drive and imported into phpMyAdmin, but the website still doesn't connect to the database with the address 'localhost'. What would I use? Where do I connect to the database I imported in phpMyAdmin. Here's the code for connecting as well as the error message.

// CODE
<?php
# FileName="Connection_php_mysql.htm"
# Type="MYSQL"
# HTTP="true"

$hostname_systemDB = "localhost";
$database_systemDB = "myDatabase";
$username_systemDB = "user";
$password_systemDB = "pass";

$systemDB = mysql_pconnect($hostname_systemDB, $username_systemDB, $password_systemDB) or trigger_error(mysql_error(),E_USER_ERROR);
?>

// ERROR MESSAGE
Warning: mysql_pconnect() [function.mysql-pconnect]: Access denied for user 'eid'@'localhost' (using password: YES)

How To Upgrade Mysql From 3.20 To 3.23
I want to upgrade my mysql ver 3.20.32a-3 on my Red Hat
linux 6.2 machine to mysql 3.23 version. Presently i have glib-1.2.6-3 and
libc-5.3.12-3.1. How can i upgrade to version 3.23.

How To Upgrade Mysql From 3.2 To 4
I am trying to upgrade from 3.2 to 4. What do I need to upgrade? should I do the fresh installation of 4 and then do the sqldump?

MySQL Upgrade From 3.23.49 To 4.0.16+
i am currently using MySQL 3.23.49 fro my website hosted on yahoo i need to upgrade it to atlest 4.0.16 or higher version how i need to do it and what it will cost me.

Mysql Upgrade
I have a mysql server running version 3.23 on Red Hat linux machine. And I have a newer mysql server running version 4.0 on SuSe linux machine. My goal is to move all the database on the older version server to the newer version server.

What should I do? I used mysqldump on the older version to get the dump file and then scp it to the newer version server and then import them through mysql client. However, whenever a database has a table that is deal with auto_increment in the create table command, the import will fail.

It complains that the SQL syntax is wrong. I know that version 4.0 have some index changes. But how is it different with the auto_increment?

MySql 4.0.22 Upgrade
I currently run MySQL 4.0.22-nt on Windows 2003 without a problem, it is running in a live configuration, I wish to upgrade the DB to 4.0.24 latest stable release, can I do this in place? Without backup and restoring each DB?

MySql Upgrade, 3.23.41 To 4.X
Sit: We're running a standalone server with applications/db's written
around 3.23.41. Linux R/H 7.2 with updates. This is an Apache
production server (currently in operation w/12 co domains) and we're
about to launch new apps using Mysql now that the s/w is complete.

Before we do this, there is a lingering q of whether or not to take
advantage of a 4.x upgrade at this time, before any further sw changes
are made, and our db starts populating with customer data.. etc.

Considering that some `things` take time to iron out from the bug
detector community, does anyone have any advice regarding the following:

1. Which latest version of MySql would be most prudent to download and
install, (least buggy w/o problems that would affect the most simplistic
of issues with our 3.23 designed s/w).

2. Has anyone done an upgrade from 3.23 to 4, and broken their server
or had issues that broke mysql?

3. What if any, headaches encountered doing an upgrade of this sort,
and how to avoid them at all costs.

This all sounds kind of lame to some, but I'm just trying to be careful
and don't want to sabotage my own system while it's working just great
under 3.23.

MySQL Rpm Upgrade
I am trying to install the new MySQL-4.0.18-0.src.rpm using the command
"rpm -Uv". I am getting the following warning.

warning: MySQL-4.0.18-0.src.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID

warning: user mysqldev does not exist - using root
warning: user mysqldev does not exist - using root

Does anyone know what I have to do?

Should I Upgrade To Mysql 5?
I'm trying to figure out if it's going painless to upgrade our oooold
mysql 3.23 to the latest MySQL 4 or 5.

Mysql Upgrade
i recently went thru a very complicated update on my webserver that also updated mysql from 3.23 to 4.1.15. like a newb i am i forgot to go into phpmyadmin and backup all my databases. by time i realised my mistake it was too late my complicate upgrade included mysql crashing. I backed up the table folders so i now have the raw tables on my home computer. What im wondering is is it possible for me to use the raw tables to rebuild my databases? As some of the sites these db's use have 2000+ members.

Upgrade MySQL
1. Does anyone have a good 'recipe' with steps to upgrade MySQL given my above environment.

2. Which rpm's do I need from this page of links on the MySQL site? There are pages of links and I do not know which one is the 'right' one for my box.

Upgrading From MySQL 3.23 To 4.1 - Need To Upgrade To 4.0 First, But Can't...
I just realised that MySQL on my local server is MySQL 3.23....whoops.

I'm looking to go to 4.1 for the time being. However the manual says that in order to get there I should upgrade to 4.0 first, and then on to 4.1.

But the 4.0 download has been discontinued! So where do I go from here. A completely fresh install (not sure what effect inserting my 3.23 database SQL backup in the 4.1 database will have...nothing?)

or do I just upgrade to 4.1 straight?

MySQL Upgrade Hiccup
Looking at upgrading php/mysql to 5..and am getting the following error now with a mysql query (which worked fine before upgrade).
Could someone please help, I am not a mysql-guru.

MySQL
SELECT pd.products_file_name, .., DATE_ADD(o.date_purchased, INTERVAL REPLACE(REPLACE(opa.products_options_values,'years',''),'year','') YEAR) as up_for_renewal_date FROM customer as c, orders as o, orders_products as op, products as p, products_description as pd, products_attributes as pa JOIN orders_products_attributes as opa on op.orders_products_id = opa.orders_products_id AND opa.products_options = 'Length' WHERE o.customers_id = " . $customer_id . " AND o.orders_id = op.orders_id AND op.products_id = p.products_id AND o.orders_status = 3 AND op.renewals_orders_products_id = 0 AND p.products_status = 1 AND p.products_id = pa.products_id AND p.products_id = pd.products_id AND o.customers_id = c.customers_id AND pa.options_values_id = 7

Edit: I forgot to mention the error received is Error: #1054 - Unknown column 'op.orders_products_id' in 'on clause'

Upgrade To Mysql Cluster
We run a php/mysql University Management System that is facing performance problems.

Currently the active components of the system runs on three servers, two dedicated for the application (dual Xeon 4G RAM) running behind a load balancer and one for the Mysql 4.1 database (dual Woodcrest 8G ram). The DB is about 300 MB, fields are generally small, but one table have 100 thousand records, but with a lot of processing (application and DB), and complicated joins.

The system runs good enough in non-registration periods, but has failed to handle the extra concurrent load generated during registration periods. During this period, the application performance decreased dramatically. The database server had a much severe problem, refusing connections and crashing.

Additional components and users are expected in the near future.

Proposed solution

Adding an additional application server to run behind the load balancer

Using a MySQL Database Cluster to run the system database

At a later stage, Optimize the system.

As we see it this will give us both performance, scalability and redundancy

Each of the three copies of the application will have an SQL node to connect to, the SQL node will connect over a 1gb network to 4 data nodes. Data will have two replica.

Each of the 7 machines will be dual core dual Xeon Woodcrest 2.0 machine with 4 GB of ram.

We have heard that a cluster may have bad performance, but we dont think this is the case with us.

There is libcrypto.so.0.9.7a and libssl.so.0.9.7a in my /lib directory.

MySQL 4.0.24 Upgrade Safely?
I have an old 4.0.24 installation that hosts a lot of UTF8 data (held in default collation).

I would like to know the method of bring this database up-to-speed to a more current versiont that better supports UTF8 and collations.

The data in the database is Japanese (occassional Shift-jis data, but mostly entered as UTF8). I have read horror stories of people who have updated and their data in other languages becomes unreadable.

Error Due To Mysql Upgrade
I wonder if someone can help me. Our host recently upgraded as below. Ever since, we have had some php scripts that give the following error. We tested one particular script and found the piece of code that " seemed " to cause the error . However, since this particular snippet is not present in all other scripts, how do we know what else could be causing a problem ?

I dont know if this is relevant but some other scripts where " list" has been " exploded" are showing the error. The code works (ie. the information gets exploded) but does not process the exploded information any further.

Infact, on the php forum i had posted a problem that was arising because of the list exploding - and i now wonder if the two problems are related ?

This is the problem that i am (still) struggling with:

Mysql Upgrade Issue
Recently i have upgraded from 4.1 to 5.0.27 and now expiriencing issues with my database.

I cant post topics/PMs/or login with Russian logins to the forum.
The forum simply doesnt recognize text in Russian.

Can anyone please advice whether if default 4.1 and 5.0.27 collation/chartsets are different and what collation/chartsets i should use in order for my forum to work correctly?

PHP4: How To Upgrade MySQL Client To V4?
Clean install of:
PHP 4.4.2
MySQL 4.1.21

Problem: phpinfo() shows the MySQL client to be 3.23.49.

I want my dev environment to match my hosts, so upgrading to PHP5 and/or MySQL5 is not an option.

So how do I upgrade the MySQL client in PHP to 4.x?

I tried the MySQL PHP connector page ( http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/php/ ) , but it only lists downloads for PHP5. (which I tried anyway, but can't get to work)

Upgrade To MySQL 5.1.7 To Use RENAME DATABASE
My host only allows me to create a database with the name of my username then my custom db name, i.e. "ayrshire_crmpiccomini".

My DB is called "crmpicco_mini" on my local machine and I found a command on the MySQL site called "RENAME DATABASE" which is what I am looking for as I need to rename my table to "ayrshire_crmpiccomini".

However, it does state the command has been added for 5.1.7 (which I believe is still beta - which is fine). I am running 5.0.41, but would like to upgrade to use this command to change my db name.

Upgrade Steps Or README For MySQL 4.0.12 To 5.0.45
I have backed up all of my MySQL databases from our 4.0.12 instance running on Windows.

I must upgrade to 5.0.45. I have downloaded and unzipped the 5.0.45 installation file from the MySQL website.

I have searched for, but cannot find, any "README" instructions that provide upgrade steps/instructions.

Can you either point me to the README file that I'm not finding, or can you post the steps I must follow for a successful 4.0.12-to-5.0.45 upgrade?

Can't Connect To Database After MySQL 4.1.10 Upgrade
I using Apache 1.3.31, PHP 4.3.8 and MySQL 4.1.10 on Win XP home edition. Prior to MySQL 4.1.10, I was using MySQL 4.0.18. The PHP scripts were able to connect to the database. After the upgrade, PHP scripts can't connect to the database.

Are there any specifications for MySQL 4.1.10 to work with PHP/Apache??? I would like to try to solve this before using the "System Restore" option.

Recent Mysql Upgrade, Ignores NOT NULL Declarations?
Can anyone tell me why CREATE TABLE and ALTER TABLE ignore the NOT NULL clause on my mysql 5.0.19 on windows xp?

This is problematic because I want to migrate some data to a older version who's NOT NULL fields are behaving as I would expect them to triggers errors when I try to import data with NULL fields. It can be fixed with a search and replace but I'd like to learn more about this problem. Any info?

Another JOIN Problem After MySQL 3 -> MySQL 5 Upgrade
I have inherited a query that works perfectly on MySQL 3/4 but not 5. I didn't write it and very little experience with joins.

So my first question is... what's it trying to do and the second question is... why isn't it working?

The exact error message is:

Quote:

Unknown column 'u.user_status' in 'on clause'

SELECT
u.user_id
,u.user_username
,u.user_status
,u.user_display_name

ON s.user_status_id = u.user_status
LEFT
JOIN

u.user_id = t.user_ticket_user
AND u.user_id > 0
AND t.user_ticket_ref=".$strTicketRef."

Working Of Mysql
can any one explain me in details how mysql engine works

PHP Not Working With MySQL
Just starting out and I have PHP, Mysql, and Apache installed. PHP and MYSQL dont seem to be working together. Everything seems to be running fine and I edited the httpd.conf in order to allow apache to process php requests.

This is what I am doing when I start mysql...
c:/net start mysql
c:/mysql/bin/mysql -u root -p
Then I log in and it accepts the log in.

When I create a sample php program like "Hello", it works.

But when I do a simple sql connect:

<?php
$conn = mysql_connect("localhost","root","tntboy");
echo $conn;
?>

I get nothing! Nothing at all comes up on the screen.
Any ideas? Why is it not connecting to the database?

Still Cannot Get MySQL Working
I have the MySQL server running. I have installed MyODBC. I cannot get either the Migration Toolkit or the MySQL Administrator to connect. I've turned off the Windows Firewall and put exclusions in Norton to allow port 3306 and MySQL.

With the MySQL Administrator I get an error message of Cannot Connect to MySQL Server on localhost. With the Migration Toolkit I get this error log: Code:

Mysql Not Working
im trying to install bugzilla (im on rh9) ive gotto the point where you run ./checksetup.PL.
Thing is its saying it cant connect to the database - but the database is there and the settings n the config files are right.

Linux Server V/s Windows Server ( WebServer - LAMP V/s WAMP)
My client wants to use WAMP ( Windows + apache + MySQL + PHP ). But the
site performance is very slow on windows. I dont know the exact
reasons.

I have seen some benchmark details on internet. But still they are not
having concrete facts to support LAMP as a better alternative to WAMP.
Allmost all the search done on google melts down to IIS vs Apache, My
main concern is "Apache on LINUX" v/s "Apache on Windows" and similarly
for PHP/MySQL.

Working With Images In MYSQL
How do I store and retrieve images in MYSQL database, and display this image on a web page, using PHP.

MySQL Not Working After Reboot
I just installed MySQL 4.0.18 on my Win2K computer. Once it installed, I
ran the WinMySQLAdmin program and everything worked fine. The little green
light was on, and I could connect to my databases.

However, as soon as I restarted my computer, the green light changed to a
red light, and since then I've been unable to connect to my databases. When
I open WinMySQLAdmin, the "Server" group box on the Environment page is
completely empty (it used to have lots of server information in it).

How can I remedy this situation??

Mysql Fulltext Key Not Working
i created a table that uses full text search and the full text field is: FULLTEXT KEY client_search (name, city, country)

in my mysql query i tried running this query but i got no results although there is a value in the field called "john" as the name for the client.

selet * from client where match (name, city, country) against ('john')

the above query returns 0 results set, although i have a client called john under name.

Code:

XAMPP / MySQL / Not Working
I installed XAMPP on my MAC Powerbook G4, running OS X 10.4. It all installed fine and I can see it in the applications menu. In there is also a script "mamppstart", when I click this I get the following message:

Starting XAMPP for MacOS X 0.5...
XAMPP: Starting Apache with SSL (and PHP4)...
XAMPP: Starting MySQL...
XAMPP: Starting ProFTPD...
XAMPP for MacOS X started.

I'm assuming that's good and means that everything has installed and running, however I try to locate MySQL in the Terminal and get nowhere. Also when I click my MySQL preference pane it says there is an error.

MySQL REGEXP Not Working
I have a PHP script that uses MySQL (v3.23.53-max-nt) REGEXPs,
and these seemed to be working fine until it needed to use the
condition:

msg_text REGEXP 'status: (failed)'

I knew there was a record containing this string. But the script
didn't return it, until I had reduced the condition to:

msg_text REGEXP '(failed)'

The problem seems to be caused by the colon, despite this not
being a reserved character (as far as I can tell from the MySQL
manual).

Also, the manual says that preceding special characters by ''
causes them to be treated as normal characters. So why in
that case does MySQL complain about 'unbalanced brackets'
when I tried running:

msg_text REGEXP '(fail'

Luckily, I was able to work round these problems by using
a LIKE clause instead.

MySQL 5: Working With Old Scripts
I installed the version 5, locally, on my computer Windows XP. The reason was to try some scripts using MySQL. Now, I have seen that no script is apparently working with this version 5. Not else phpMyAdmin, that returns to me the following: #1251 - Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server; consider upgrading MySQL client...

Where the error is? Something I didn't worked well, or something else?

Mysql Asp Delete Not Working
i have a script in asp connecting to mysql with a simple delete query:

DELETE * FROM table WHERE id = 48

the table exists, the row exists and it is an integer why doesn't it work?

error below. Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80040e14'

You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near '* FROM table WHERE id = 48' at line 1

PhpMyAdmin Not Working With MySQL 4.1.7?
It says authentication error.... client not support the current authentication requested by the server, please try upgrading the client. I used the latest version of phpMyAdmin but it doesn't work. MySQL works fine on command prompt and root (password set) account works fine.

MySQL To Excel Not Working
I am a frequent reader of these forums, but this is my first post, so bear with me.
The problem I'm having, in the nutshell, is that I have a PHP script that takes a MySQL query, and dumps it to a properly formatted Excel (xls) file. When the query is reasonably small, it works like a dream. However, when I do a SELECT * basically, the file is still created, but its empty. Any ideas of what could be causing this behavior?
P.S. I have made sure that php.ini has more than enough accessible memory to do this.
