MySQL Admin - Lost Thread On Specific Like Query?
mySQL win32 (4.0.22)
I am using mySQL Control Admin and seeing a lockup on a thread specific to a
like query.
select * from table1 where field1 like 'http://h%' limit 100
This request will sit (thread) forever and never return any records. (status
: sending...)
However : select * from table1 where field1 like 'http://h%' limit 100
returns records immediately, no problems...
I have already run : /mysql/bin/myisamchk --sort-recover dbtable1, no
errors, no problems...
How can I tell what this thread is really doing or if any additional
problems exist with this table using myisamchk?

MySQL GUI Tools Query Browser/Admin Login
I've just installed the GUI tools so I can get a little help with queries and table design, and I am not able to log into the administrator or the query browser. The login screens show up, I enter all the correct data, then the form grays out except for the cancel button and does nothing. Doesn't even eat up any system resources, so it doesn't even look like its trying. I've turned off all firewall settings in case that might have cause the issue and it still doesn't work.

After changing RAM and the ethernet card of my DB server, the problem of getting frequent: Database error (error code 102) Could not connect to database server (Lost connection to MySQL server during query) Still occurs ;/ I've tried to eliminate all factors (like multiple servers, load-balancers, replication etc) so I have wrote a php script that only does the following: - opens db connection - does a simple select - closes db connection If I refresh this page over and over, every 6-7 times I get the above error. Anyone have any further solutions, ?? I've tried the software (re-installing mysql, upgrading, etc....) and tried the hardware (RAM, ethernet card). Nothing seems to help. The DB server is Linux Redhat 7.3 with the 2.4.18-3smp kernel. I am running MySQL standard 4.0.13.

User-defined Function: ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost Connection To MySQL Server During Query
With mysql-4.1.1-alpha, using any User Defined Function ( UDF) at the query execution stage, on Linux 2.6, gave me the following error: "ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server during query" However, upgrading to mysql-4.1.2-alpha seemed to solve the problem. Both versions were configured exactly as follows ../configure --with-openssl --enable-thread-safe-client --with-mysqld-ldflags =-rdynamic The only way I could solve this was by upgrading to 4.1.2-alpha-log. Then, recompiling the functions, drop the old UDF functions, then, recreate. So far so good. Anyway, if you run into this problem, or just want more detail on the sample User Defined Functions that come with MySQL ( /sql/udf_example.cc), I've put my notes in the following link ( TIP 27 )

Question About A Specific Query
imagine I've got user that can have visual preference (enabled or disabled) saved on a table. Before a user make change of a preference, there is no row associate to that user and by default, the preference is enabled. Now, is it possible to do a query that will output user that have preference set to enabled (those who have update their preference) while also outputing those who have no row in the table preference? I know it may be not super clear, but I need to know before working on that script. So here a sample to make sure it is all clear: TABLE USER (id - name - email) 1 - NameA - a@a.com 2 - NameB - b@b.com 3 - NameC - c@c.com TABLE PREFERENCE (id - label) 1 - Show warning 2 - Show help TABLE USER_PREFERENCE (user_id - preference_id - status) 1 - 1 - Disable 2 - 1 - Enable So if I want to output user email that show warning, it should give me: b@b.com, c@c.com My problem so far is, how to retreive user that have a user_preference row enabled, and user that have no user_preference row in the same query!

MySQL 4.0.18 On Dual AMD64 Opteron Causing Thread Zombie Even When Timeout Is Set To 60 Seconds
We have a problem with Dual AMD64 Opteron/MySQL 4.0.18/Mandrake 10 for a very high volume site. We are evaluating the performance on our new server AMD64 and it seems it's slow compared to Dual Xeon/MySQL 4.0.15/RedHat8 and Dual Xeon/MySQL 4.0.18/Mandrake 10. And it seems there are zombie threads. 570 threads in 1 hour and we didn't even use JDBC connection pooling at all. These threads are supposed to be gone within 60 seconds, since we set that option in mysqld. Note that we run many SELECT queries (can be up to 150 queries/seconds), but the system does not indicate any slow query: it's 0! Our configuration is Apache 2.0.48 + Tomcat 5.0.27 + MySQL 4.0.18 with MySQL connector/J 3.0.14 (latest stable). The Redhat 8 runs on Apache 2 + Tomcat 4.0 + MySQL 4.0.15. The old Redhat 8 on Xeon was fine. We have another machine running Mandrake 10 on Xeon and they were fine under the same load. I have set the wait_timeout to 60 seconds, and it appears to be fine within 10 minutes, all the threads that are in "sleep" mode disappeared after 60 seconds. After a few minutes though, it's back like it was before. Is this Mandrake problem? MySQL problem? I read in here than Mandrake win hands down on AMD64 compared to FreeBSD. Code:

MySQL Admin Scheduled Backups
Two problems: 1.-- MySQL Administrator will do backups manually and for sometime it did scheduled backups, as well. Is there a way to get them back or at least start the recording again? The only thing that ever showed up in the logs was the shut down and start up of the MySQL service at the beginning and end of a flat file backup of the entire database. Still... it would nice to have the logs back.

Once the database is in the Backup Content list, you can un-check specific tables that you do not wish to back up. “ That sounds straight forward enough – it works like every other gui out there. MySQL Admin Program/Script
I'm looking for an application, or php script that makes entering and retrieving information out of a database automated. The process would like so: I enter in the mysql un/pass etc. and create tables and rows. Also defining what type of input each row should have. Whether it be a checkbox, a dropdown menu, plain text input. Also defining what options for things like the checkboxes and dropdowns. After that, you would be able to go to a simple front end that had the inputs you defined. You could create your entries and retrive them. Sorting them how you see fit. Given the obvious use for such a thing, there must be plenty. I must not be wording my searches correctly though. I would prefer something free/open source.
