Add Variables To Dropdown List
I have a list of variables:
$variable[0]
$variable[1]
$variable[2]
The amount of variables changes so i've used $total = count($variable) to find the amount there are.
How would i tell php to create a dropdown menu with the amount of options=$total and then fill the options with $variable[0] etc.
I know i can use a loop to increase the value of say $i by one each time to that i can use $variable[$i] each time, i'm just stuck with adding the whole thing to a dropdown menu with the right number of option...

Smarter Way Of Doing Dropdown List?
I've got a dropdown list that is acting as a filter on a table, so the user can select a value and the page is reloaded only showing the matching values from the database. Now when the page reloads the dropdown was set to 'all' as it was first in the list, even if I'd selected a different value, this was confusing for users, so I added an initial <option> field which pulled the correct value from $_GET (code below) - however this is a little odd as it means the value appears twice! Does anyone have a genius solution to this? Autopopulate Dropdown List From Database
An events-registration page with a form containing a dropdown list for upcoming events, the events will be pulled from a table which is updated by...? what i've gathered so far is that this can be done with PHP. I am a little unclear on the concept of how this is done. How does the updated information get input into the table? 1) can this be done (updating database) through a web interface by the client, or is it something i would have to do locally and then upload. If done by the client, can he delete/edit existing information--assuming he is not familiar with code. 2) what other things aside from html(good), sql(so-so), and php(newb) will i have to know? i've seen a lot of good tutorials here and will have access to the necessary software. I just want to know if there is anything else i should know before i dive in head first without testing the PHP water, which i assume is frigid.

Debugging - See A List Of All My Variables (without Specifying Them All By Name).
I have windows. I do all my coding on my local PC. I upload my files using FTP onto my Linux host. Remove From Mailing List Via Variables In URL
i have often joined other mailing lists and i notice that when emails are sent out there is usually an option to delete your email from the mailing list. i was wondering which is the best way to go about this. would it be a matter of sending a link in the email which is something like... http://wwwmysite.com/deletemail.php?somebody@somewhere.com deletemail.php being a simple script that takes that email addy and deletes it from the database? or is there a better way to do it?

List Of Users With Session Variables
I'm trying to generate a list of users that are logged in. I thought about using a lastlogin field and calculating time, but what if they stay logged in for more than that time? I thought about using a clicked field, but changing the time on that every time someone did something could get really expensive especially if there are a lot of users. I think that using session variables would be best because I can just destroy the session when they logout and it will get rid of itself if they don't do anything for a while. Can anyone give some advice as to where to go from here? Is there a way to return an array of usernames if I create a $_SESSION["user"] variable and set it when someone logs in? Or should I make some kind of associative db table with session ids and user ids? What would be the easiest way to do this and what would be a few skeleton steps to get started?

I have another table that has mailbox settings for each user that contains a field named "messagelist" to indicate if they want to be included on the message list or not. What I'm trying to create is a list of the most-recent messages with a lookup on the users table to indicate whether a message in the list should be included in the message list based on the user's mailbox settings. I want to create a form with a default image and a below it, dropdown box and a series of options in it. When the user clicks on the submit button after selecting their option, the default image above the box is replaced and a title or caption next to the new image would appear. The problem is I am using the name code when I goto the "Update" page, but i'm not sure how to add the "selected" field, that way what ever I saved in the database will load.
