PHP :: Change List View To Dropdown Menu

I've been using QuickForm for a few months now and I am now given a
new challenge:

I've got a search form with a dozen of dropdown menus, the first
dropdown menu being "Brand". If you select either Brand A, B, C, D...
Z, the second dropdown menu "Model" must be dynamically changed to
model AA, AB, AC, AD..., according to the models manufactured by the
brand selected in the first box.

I've seen that done on quite a few sites, but never found if QuickForm
had a quick & clean way of doing that.

I want to upload a feild values into a dropdownmenu. can anyone help me how to write in php code.

I need to populate a list box and/or a dropdown list on a form. I have all
the bits and pieces together, all bar the code which takes the result of a
query and creates a list box.

I want to populate a dropdown menu with countries that are in one column of my table. I know how to do that, but I can't find how to eliminate multiple items. Some countries appear several times in different rows, but I only want each available country to be shown once in my dropdown list.

what i am trying to do is to make a system with a few input pages and edit and read pages..

I'm working on a PHP script and it has a user login, and the variables (username, password, id number) are passed via the URL bar. Is it possible to somehow not allow the visited page show up in the dropdown list of URLs in the browser? The problem is that people can view the list and easily see people's usernames and passwords. Example:

http://www.somesite.com?username=john&password=12345 What I only want is:
http://www.somesite.com/

I know that Hotmail.com doesn't show all of the pages that have been visited, all it shows in the list is hotmail.com, so I think it is possible to do this, but I don't know how.

I have a dropdown menu which is supposed to filter a table to show results for professionals, students or all. But I don't really know what I'm doing. This is what I have so far. Code:

Initially, I was able to filter for students or professionals, but since trying to have an all option (students and professionals) it has gone to pot, and I keep getting errors. After I have selected one country and I hit the submit button it go back to the default value in the box, what I want is to show the selected value in box until I selected another value.

If the default value is Australia when I start this page, I then select USA and hit the submit button it reset to the default value "Australia", but I want it to show USA as long I not select anything else. I have tried to use session in selected="<?php echo $_SESSION['country']; ?>" but it didnt work.

i am trying to get two dropdown lists working on a page. How do i go about this. For example, I have 1 table which holds countries and cities. When a user selects a country in the first dropdown list, i'd like the second dropdownlist populate with a list of cities etc. from my database.

I've got a dropdown list that is acting as a filter on a table, so the user can select a value and the page is reloaded only showing the matching values from the database.

Now when the page reloads the dropdown was set to 'all' as it was first in the list, even if I'd selected a different value, this was confusing for users, so I added an initial <option> field which pulled the correct value from $_GET (code below) - however this is a little odd as it means the value appears twice!

Does anyone have a genius solution to this? I've seen a <select selected="yes"> sort of thing around, but I don't know how I can tell the php to add this value dynamically?

what i've gathered so far is that this can be done with PHP. I am a little unclear on the concept of how this is done. How does the updated information get input into the table?

1) can this be done (updating database) through a web interface by the client, or is it something i would have to do locally and then upload. If done by the client, can he delete/edit existing information--assuming he is not familiar with code.

2) what other things aside from html(good), sql(so-so), and php(newb) will i have to know?

i've seen a lot of good tutorials here and will have access to the necessary software. I just want to know if there is anything else i should know before i dive in head first without testing the PHP water, which i assume is frigid.

I am preparing a form that includes a drop-down list consisting of the names of files in a certain folder on the server.

I only need to trap the file name (jpg), not the path and I'm not trying to upload the files or anything - simply allow the user to select one of a number of different image files (they're actually location maps).

a system i am developing has both a user and an admin side. The user can add a record and then the status of this is initially set to a fixed value.

What I am wondering is, if i stick with a list of say 4 possible status', how can i get whatever status the admin changes the record to to be "sticky" on the menu the next time he looks at the call, as opposed to the menu showing the default value set in dreamweaver?

Say you have a left menu that stays the same on every page within in your site. Obviously you would make this menu a template or library item, so that when you edit one version, all the others are updated.

Let's say the left menu is the following:

Page_3

Now, when I am viewing Page_1, I want the "Page_1" text in the left menu to be red, so that the viewer knows what page they are on. When I click on the left menu link for "Page_2", then I want the "Page_1" text to go back to black and the "Page_2" text to be red.

A few words to describe:
-$row_AllCountries['country_ID'](get from MySQL) is a unique country ID number
-$row_AllCountries['countryname'](get from MySQL) is the name of the country
-$acountry is the country ID number that i want to be selected when the form loads

I have all the values and country names named OK...the only problem is that when the form loads it selects the last country.

I can get the current month to display in a text box by inserting

I have plenty of examples of dynamic dropdown choices but none of hardcoded dropdown choices. The ultimate goal is to have a job with various tasks and to track the status of those tasks for a given job. I've used one of the tutorials here to begin the process. Below is the code I have to add work on a given task. Perhaps I actually need to "Update" a job as opposed to "add".

So basically it creates a list of links with the contents in that directory,

I have two tables. One has a list of messages left by users using fields named mbxno for the mailbox and msgno for the message number. I have another table that has mailbox settings for each user that contains a field named "messagelist" to indicate if they want to be included on the message list or not.

What I'm trying to create is a list of the most-recent messages with a lookup on the users table to indicate whether a message in the list should be included in the message list based on the user's mailbox settings.

I think what's happening is that I'm using the wrong type of join and more rows are being created than necessary.

If I add "DISTINCT" to the query, I get a list of the most-recent messages as I expect, but the "messsagelist" value is sometimes wrong (again, probably because the data is getting jumbled). For example, the messagelist value for the second row (2214) should be 0, not 1.

I'm looking for a mailing list script (php) that has a function to let
users to reach out to all recipient on the list by simple send the
email to a specific maillist- address.

Mailman has this functionn but as a just got a webserver account I
can't use mailman nor install it.

Is there a way using php to check what php script the user is viewing? If so how is it done?

We are using MySQL 5.0+ because it now supports views. However it
appears that the PHP's(4.3) mysql_field_table() is returning a
temporary name table name rather than the actual table (view) name.

For instance we have a view defined as "open_meeetings_view", yet when
we do a mysql_field_table() the name retrieved is "#sql_7a3a_1". The
same call correctly retrieves all static tables and even aliases
correctly.

It does not appear that PHP has the ability to dig any deeper (maybe in
PHP 5.0?), but does anyone know how to query MySQL for this information
directly? A "show tables" does show the view names correctly. So we
just need a way to correlate the temporary table "#sql_7a3a_1" back to
the real view name "open_meeetings_view".

I was at amazon.com and clicked on View/Source, and I got a blank page. How did they do that?

I've programmed an access-control via header()-function. It
checks an username and password in database ... nothing special.

Currently, the control gives access to a download, but I would
like to allow special users to view the complete directory.

AFAIK this is only possibly through ".htaccess" (Apache webserver).
But then, I need to create an entry for each user in the database
in the file :-(

Would it be possible to allow this direclty through PHP?
Of course, I could write dynamically into htaccess, but if
several users would access the file at the same time ... URGHS :-)
