How To Restart Id Count From A Auto_increment Field When Deleting A Row
I have a table "services" with 8 fields:

serviceid (auto_increment)
technicianid
typeofserviceid
clientid
date
hour
hours
comments

Every time i add, say, 5 fields, the serviceid reaches 5. But if i erase one of them, or all of them, and then insert another row, the value of serviceid won´t replace the serviceid value for the old row. Instead of that, if i had 5 values, next row will be inserted with serviceid = 6. Is there any way to fix this?

Another problem i have is difficulty while trying to maintain integral reference. I established a composite key with the first four fields, but because serviceid changes automatically from row to row, its making incongruences with the rows inserted.

To make me clear, lets say i add this two fields ('','2','1','3','2007-12-26','9:37','58','no comment'). If i add another row with the same values, the DBMS wont throw any error and insert the row. They won´t be identical to the DB engine because they diferentiate in theirs id. But two rows with the same values is not correct in real life.

One technician can´t be doing the same type of service to the same client at the same day in the same hour of the day. I dont now how to fix this. Any ideas?

Save Date To Table Field Date Type
I have a calendar picker on a form that fills a text box with  XX/XX/XXXX  date format. If I run a insert statement  the date field in the database shows 0000-00-00. If i change the field type to varchar  the correct format displays.

What is the correct way to save a date to a mysql database?  Furthermore to query on the date  how about a select * from db_name where servicedate >= $startdate  and  servicedate >= $enddate  I supose this will not work
Any pointers?

Cell Colour Based On Field Data
I have a mysql database and i am using php to display some field data in a table cell on a page. The field data is either 'failed' or 'passed', how can i make the cell colour change depending on the field data result?

Repeat Form Field Based On $_POST Data
i have a script that sets up a second page with multiple select boxes. the first script has a hidden field for the ID number, and a text input field for quantity. the second part of the script has a foreach loop that gets the info that goes with the ID number and then creates the select box next to it. for the most part it's all working correctly, but i don't know how to get the submitted "quantity" to repeat that ID number (and everything else). here is the initial form: Code:

Formatting Date From MYSQL Date Field
i've got a date field in my table, but the default format is YYYY-MM-DD... is there any way i can pull the date out of the database and format it differently... like DD.MM.YYYY or like April 13, 2003?

Deleting A Cookie That Was Made Before A Certain Date
I have changed the login code for a forum but imagine a lot of the users has a cookie already set. Is there some way I can see when I cookie was made and delete it if it is older than a specific date?

Deleting Files In A Folder Modified Before Certain Date
I use a cache system that requires creation of files in a folder .

Now , what i need to know is how can i delete files created say 3 days ago.

So that the cache remains fresh.

The directory contains around 20,000 files , about 10,000 are generated each day (if they dont exist)

So getting info about the each file after using opendir will cause the server to slow down.

Get Date Based On Weekday?
I have this:

Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu, Fri, Sat, Sun created as links. What I would like to
do is to associate days with its current week dates, for example:

Mon (05.01.2004); Tue (06.01.2004); and so on.

Add To Date Based On User Selection
I have a form with Radio buttons that when selected should add "$howMuch" amount of hours to the current date and time and put the output into a field called "ExpireTime". The code I'm using for the hour adding: PHP Code:

Calculate Age Based On Date Of Birth
I am trying to validate whether or not a date of birth entered in dd/mm/yyyy format is between 16 and 69 years old.  Suppose we have todaysdate = 18/04/2007

The minimum allowed date of birth would be 18/04/1991 and the maximum allowed date of birth would be 18/04/1938.  I have looked at using strtotime but this only does dates from 1970 (I think)

Clause Based On Date/time
I have a database that returns a field with a date and time that looks like this:
12/04/2007 07:45:03

I need a simple clause that says if the time is before noon then A else if the time is after noon then B I could split the date from the time in a string then split the time by the : but there is a much easier way, right?

Displaying 'new' Icon Based On Date?
I'd like to display a little "new" icon next to all products in a directory which are, funnily enough, new! I've got a date (timestamp) for each product which is inserted on adding a new product and updating a product.

I'd like to do a conditional region using the timestamo but I'm not sure what to use - I could do === [current date] but that would only show the icon for that day and I'd like it to be there for about a week or so.

Generating Reports Based On Date/time Conditions
I need to generate reports in three ways:

I have a Date field in my database...

today
$query = 'SELECT * FROM 'table' WHERE Date = today';

Past seven days
$query = 'SELECT * FROM 'table' WHERE Date - 7';

Choose month( drop down preferably)

$query = 'SELECT * FROM 'table' WHERE Date = "'.$_POST['monthselected'].'"';

Get Most Recent Row On An Inner Join Mysql Query Based On Date
Here is my current query:

SELECT tbl1.id, tbl1.username, tbl1.status, tbl1.joined, tbl2.timeDate, tbl1.directory FROM tbl1, tbl2 WHERE tbl1.id = tbl2.users_id GROUP BY tbl1.id

This returns their oldest ie first login.  I use this for analytics on the backend to determine user activity.  So I would like a query that instead that returns the most recent tbl2.timeDate.

Auto Delete Date Based Calendar Events
Out of both wanting to improve my PHP skills and necessity, I created my own small CMS for a non-profit site I am involved with. One of the features I have is an event calendar where other users can submit  events, which then go into a "holding tank" until I can approve or deleted them. It's working great and everyone is loving it... but I have discovered one issue. When the date of the event passes, I have to log into the admin area and manually remove it. I am actually not deleting it from the database but changing a field variable and archiving it for our records.

I have been trying the past few days to come up with the necessary PHP to automatically check the current date (today's date) against all the calendar events and remove ones that have already happened. I could then hook this up to a CHRON action in my hosting CPanel and call it a day - at least that is how it all plays out in my head.

I imagine in order to point me in the right direction you will need some information about my database.

Put Today's Date Into A MySQL "date" Formated Field
My MySQL table has a field that is set as type "date." I need to get
today's date, and insert it into that field. The default for that MySQL
field is 2006-00-00.

I know about the date() function. I have tried date("Y-m-d") and
date("U"), neither worked. The date field was just filed with all
zeros.

Can anybody point me in the right direction?

Date Field
Im making a date field in mysql, but im not sure which data type to make it, like a number should be INT(xx), but what about a date?

Selecting Array Rows Based On An Array Of Field=>values
Here's the code i have:

$db = array(); //main array
$db['main'] = array(); //table `main`
$db['main'][] = array('id'=>0,
'username'=>'joshfrench','userpass'=>'password','userlevel'=>'admin');
//row
$db['main'][] = array('id'=>1,
'username'=>'bob_smith','userpass'=>'psswrd','userlevel'=>'user');
//row

function trim_value(&$value){
$value = strtolower(trim($value));
}
function fdb_select($fields = "*", $table, $where = false, $limit =
false){
global $db;
$retv = $db[$table];

//LIMIT RESULTS TO FIELDS
if(strrpos($fields, ",") === false){$field=array($fields);}else{$field
= explode(",", $fields);};
array_walk($field, "trim_value");
$all_fields = array_keys($retv[0]);
if($fields == '*'|| is_null($fields)){$field = $all_fields;};
$field = array_uintersect($all_fields, $field, "strcasecmp");
$retvi = array();
foreach($retv as $num =$row){
foreach($row as $fname =$fvalue){
$fname1 = strtolower($fname);
if(in_array($fname1, $field)){
$retvi[$num][$fname]=$fvalue;
};
};
};
//DONE LIMITING TO FIELDS
if($where != false){

//UP TO HERE IT WORKS FINE
//LIMIT TO WHERE CLAUSE
$retvj = array();
foreach($retvi as $num =$row){
//IN THE ROW
foreach($where as $k =$v){
//IF ROW MEETS ALL REQUIREMENTS
if($row[$k] == $v){
$retvj[] = $retvi[$num]; //Keep that row
};
};
};
//DONE LIMITING TO WHERE CLAUSE
};
$retvi = (isset($retvj)) ? $retvj:$retvi;
//SEND A FINAL ASSOCIATIVE ARRAY
return $retvi;
};
print_r(fdb_select("*", "main", array('id'=>"1",
"username"=>"joshfrench")));

the previous code outputs this:

Array
(
[0] =Array
(
[id] =0
[username] =joshfrench
[userpass] =password
[userlevel] =admin
)

[1] =Array
(
[id] =1
[username] =bob_smith
[userpass] =psswrd
[userlevel] =user
)

)

Date Field And Formats
I have been looign at and wonder...

what is the easiest way to check a date field and transfer it into:
dd.mm.yyyy ?

Eventually I would like to accept dd.mm then yyyy is present year (unless month < now, then yyyy++ ). The basic thing is to format the date as dd.mm.yyyy - how?

Sort By Field (date)
I would like to display my data but sorted by date. I have already had some postponed games, so now the results are not displaying in order of date. Code:

MySQL Date Field Help Needed
I have a Date type in my MySQL table - I'm trying to do a query on all
rows within the last 30 days based on that Date field - I'm having
trouble figuring out how to form the query?

$php_SQL = "SELECT * FROM basics WHERE creation_date =
DATE_ADD(creation_date, INTERVAL -30 DAY)";

Text Field As Date (MySQL)
I have a generic table used for many different generic
functions. the fields are mainly varchar's but one of these varchars
contains dates (in the format dd/mm/yyyy) for one reason or another.

My question is, can I perform a query on this table, using date
functions on this varchar field? I.e. search for the latest date?

Php How To Treat Mysql Field Like A Date?
I have a query that looks like this: (I insert the date created with the php
date function)

$status = "Active";

//(I cannot use the mysql timestamp function for other reason).
$curdate = date("m/j/Y H:i");
$owner = "not assigned";

@ $db_connect = mysql_connect("localhost", "$db_username", "$db_password");
if (!$db_connect)
{
echo "Unable to connect to the database;
exit;
}
mysql_select_db("$db");
$query = "insert into tickets (user, status, loannum, problem, description,
multiples, ticketnumber, ip, office, submissiontime, ticketowner) values
('$user1', '$status', '$loannum', '$problem', '$description', '$multiples',
'$ticketnumber', '$ip', '$office', '$curdate', '$owner')";
$result = mysql_query($query);

I need to pull out the last fifty records from the database, so I use this
query:

$order = $order;
if ($order ==""){
$order = "user";
}

mysql_select_db("$db");
$query = "select * from tickets ORDER by $order";
$result = mysql_query($query);
$num = mysql_num_rows($result);

if I order the tickets by submission time, it orders the items, but not
correctly. It looks like php treating the submissiontime like integer:
example:

12/1/2003 16:51

12/1/2003 16:58

12/10/2003 12:29

12/10/2003 12:36

12/11/2003 07:10

12/2/2003 09:16

Date Field Defaults To 01/01/1970...!!?
I'm having a problem with an SQL datetime field. The field is set to allow nulls and that it has no default value but when I submit the PHP form the datetime field gets updated to 01/01/1970 12:00:00:00 AM. Can anyone tell me whats going on!? I want to have the null values!

Converting Dates To Mysql Date Field
Is there a way to convert a date in this format:

8-7-2002 to fit into a MySQL date field format 2002-08-07.

the 8-7-2002 is a field in which users pick a date from a pop-up calendar in javascript. When I enter that date into the database, i want to convert it to the MySQL date format.....is there a way to convert it?

Phpmyadmin/MySQL - Dynamic Date Field?
I am a relative newbie for php/MySQL, and most of what
I am doing is based on being self-taught using someone else's
well-written code, and my own googling the answers to my questions.

I'm doing a php/MySQL page that reads data out of a MySQL database.
Longer term, I'll do a data-entry screen allowing me to modify the
database or add new records. For now, I'm just using phpmyadmin to data
enter stuff.

Is there a way to set up a date field, Last_Update, that would
automatically update to today's date any time a record was added or
changed using phpmyadmin?

Not sure if I'm asking the question clearly. What I want would be that,
let's say that I add a new record today, April 23. The Last_Update
field for the record would automatically be April 23. If I go in and
modify and part of that record on April 29, Last_Update automatically
changes to April 29 for that record.

If that's not possible, then how in php/MySQL would I display on a web
page "Information last updated on mm/dd/yyyy" based on the contents of
the database?

Stoping Auto Updates Of The Date Field
I have a table with a field using the "timestamp" type. When I update another field, the "timestamp" field also updates to the time the other field was updated. I don't want this.
I'm using this to update the table. PHP Code:

Split Title From Date In Field Using Preg_replace
I am building a CSV file but one of the fields for titles contains the title and a date at the end in the format of dd/mm/yy, such as

"summer manual 03/01/07".

I want to split this into two csv fields by doing this,

"summer manual,03/01/07".

What regex do you need to search for the dd/mm/yy part of the string? I am not very good at these myself.

Can't Update Date Field - Mysql Client Version 5.0.33
I am trying to update record and date field, but it fails although my timestamp echos perfectly.  I don't know what to do:  my sql client version is 5.0.33 and the model table has got date filed which is model_date. Code:

Batch File Deleting And Folder Deleting
I have a folder in my web site where I used php to create and copy in files. but now I can't delete them easily. The only way I know how that is possible is through php. I get an error the following ftp error:

550 th: Permission denied
I had the chmod() set to 0777 on every file and folder. But I still seem to loss control over the files when I try and do things with them through other means.

I think it is because the user I use to access the files via ftp a diffrent user. So I tryed to add a function with chown() for the new files I was posting and uploading. It didn't work on those new files. so it looks like the only thing I can do is use the unlink() function which deletes the files fine.

The only problem is now I have something like 100 sub directories all with files in them. I need to figure out a way to batch delete them. I can't find a script that goes through and finds all file contents including all sub directories and unlink those things.

I found some that will use a for loop to list out the contents of a folder but it is just files. No sub directories. Any body got any ideas on which functions I should use or know where a script is that I can base mine off of.

I am not sure how to approach this since what I tryed with chown and chmod has failed thus far. I currently have no code and am starting from scratch on this batch flushing of my directory.

Can A Field Communicate To A Server And Return Information To Another Field Without Retrieving The Whole Html Code Again?
I´ve got a sql table which has 3 fields.
Their relation to each other is like this example.

| CARS | YEAR | PRICE |
ford 2000
ford 2001
ford 2003
volkswagen 1999
volkswagen 2000

I am developing an ASP web page that modifies a specific registry.
So, it loads the information to some fields, but the user will be able
to change only the "PRICE" field.
I have to create two selects, one for "CARS" and other for "YEAR".
But the "YEAR" field will only contain the correspondent years for each
car the user selects. Example: selecting "ford" in the "CARS" <select>
box, only the years "2000", "2001", "2003" would be automatically
loaded in the "YEAR" <selec> box.
How could i implement it?

How To Update A Table's Field With Another Tables Field?
I need to take the state field from dt_profile table and update the dt_matchfinder with this state making sure the member_id field matches.

the problem is the dt_matchfinder table has null set for many of the state field but in the dt_profile each member ID has a specific state and I need the same to be true in the dt_matchfinder table.

Select Both Field Name And Field Value- Mysql ?
What function to use to select both field name and field value from a mysql table ?

Check Date From Input Must Greater Or Equal Today Date?
I have 3 select box. Code:

<select name="day">
<option value="1">1</option>
<option value="2">2</option>
.......
<option value="31">31</option>
</select>

<select name="month">
<option value="01"> Jan </option>
<option value="02"> Feb </option>
.....
</select>

<select name="year">
<option value="2002">2002 </option>
<option value="2003">2003</option>
</select>

When I select and click submit in form. I will have 3 variable :

$day, $month and $year

How can I check the day that I choose in form must equal or greater than today date? If it less than today date. I must print error message to user.

Date Is Not Being Pulled From MYSQL Database, Instead Current Date Is Displayed!
I am having trouble pulling a date from a database using PHP at the <a
href="http://www.mytuneslive.com/ameshkin69/"> following page.</a>

Here is the code. As you can see, it is just making the date the
current time. The values in the database are UNIX timestamp, and the
DATE() function is used to convert from UNIX to readable date. Can

<td width="55%" align="left" valign="top"><?php
$row_comment['timestamp'] = date("n d Y g:i A");.....

Deleting
how could i delete everything from a table in a mysql db except for the 10 latest things ?

Read Today's Date Print Tomorrow's Date
I've got a small script that writes a random number and the date to a text file. Then the script opens this text file and if date = date from this text file something must happen.
If something happened this script must open this text file again and replace it with a new random number and tomorrow's date.

<?php

$date = date("d-m-Y");
mt_srand((double)microtime()*10000000000);
$num=mt_rand(0, 20);
if ($num == $num && $date == "$tomorrowdate") { echo"$num -- $date";}
else
echo " ";?>

So if the script gets activated on the 05-05-2003 it must write tomorrow's date into the text file (06-05-2003). How will I get tomorrow's date today?

Help: Date Function Not Returning Correct Date & Time

PHP Date Question: How To Determine The Date Each Of The Past 3 Sundays
How can I determine what the date was (in YYYY-MM-DD format) last
Sunday, and the Sunday before that?

For example:

Today is Thursday, August 18, 2004 (2004-08-18). I would like to have
the following variables:

Need Help With Deleting Records
I'm trying to add a link on the display of a record to delete that record.

The main part of the record is stored in pw_event, then there are several rating fields for that record stored in pw_rate, and there is also several records for the first record stored in pw_whois.

I need to have a link that will deleted everything for that record in all three tables.

Here is my display script:

PHP Code:

Deleting Last Comma
The code below displays pet names like so:

Fido, Bowser, Kittycat, Spot,

and I want to delete only the last comma. I tried 'substr' and 'rtrim' and both of those delete the space and comma between each name, not just the last name as I'd like, so I end up with:
Fido,Bowser,Kittycat,Spot,

How would I delete only the last comma, so that it is this instead?
Fido, Bowser, Kittycat, Spot

Even with trim and substr, I end up with:

Deleting A Session
I want to be able to delete a session so that the next time there's a call to session_start, it creates a new session ID. I don't want to destroy the session variables specifically (though this will be a side-effect of what I'm doing) so I know that session_destroy isn't what I want to do.

I presume I should just delete the session cookie manually. Is there a neater way? And if not, how do I do this?

Deleting A Director
I'm using this code trying to make ato delete a file or folder under w2k, apache.

$filesys = eregi_replace("/","",$file);
$delete = @chmod ($filesys, 0775);
unlink("$delete");
header("Location:repadmin.php");
exit;

but return this warning:

Warning: unlink(1) [function.unlink]: No such file or directory in c:program filesapache groupapachehtdocsguonline epositorio epadmin.php on line 94

I checked the whole path and looks good.

Deleting Files

Deleting Files
I'm using different files to store some arrays to make administration of a very small job-logger very easy. I currently read the file, remove the element to be deleted, delete the whole file, and write the file again without that element. Is there a way to remove a single element out of that file without deleting the whole file?
