Displaying Data In Html Table.

I wondered if anyone could offer some guidance, I trying to write a
php script to connect to a database, and display the records in a
table.

I found the code here in a php4 text, and when I run this directly
through the php intrupeter, the line Successfully connected is display
and 4 as the number of rows.

The database table we connect to, has three field username, firstname,
surname.

When I tried a while loop, to display the data in a table. No values
were displayed.

Could anyone possibly demonstrate how to display the username,
firstname, surname values in a basic table?

<?php
function db_connect(){
global $MYSQL_ERRNO, $MYSQL_ERROR;

$link_id = mysql_connect("localhost","user04", "password04");

if(!$link_id){
$MYSQL_ERROR = "Connection failed";
return 0;
}
else if(empty($dbname) && !mysql_select_db("database04")){
$MYSQL_ERROR = mysql_error();
return 0;
}
else return $link_id;
}

!$link_id = db_connect();
if(!$link_id) die(error_message('Error connecting'));

$result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users");
if(!$result) error_message('Error in selection');
else echo "Successfully connected. ";

$query_data = mysql_fetch_row($result);
$total_records = $query_data[0];

if(!$total_records) error_message('No records');
else echo "$total_records.";
?>

Displaying A HTML Table With PHP
I'm new to PHP and I'm trying to get my head around databases at the moment. So far I have a page that kinda takes the mickey and takes a few details from you, it then creates a cookie that can be removed later. It also prompts you to add the data you gave to a database.

All this works perfectly, but when it comes to displaying the results of the database, all I can show is the first entry in the table. Can someone please tell me how I'm supposed to see all of them?

I've read other articles but they don't make much sense to me.

BTW, the database details are as follows:

Database name: visualanteorg
Table name: people
Fields: id, name, shoe_size, job

As you will see if you choose to look at the pages, getting the information out is not a problem, it's just formatting it how I want it, so each entry appears under the other in the table.

Grabbing Data From A Table And Displaying It
I'm grabbing data from a table and displaying it but I want to to spand out into multiple pages...I got it all setup but when I click on the next link nothing happens... I got it setup at "3" right now just for testing..I have 5 entries in the database.. anyways could someone help me out? here is the code:

<?php

// Get connection info
include "../connect.php";
// End connection info
if(!$rowstart) $rowstart=0;
// Start database select
$result = mysql_query(
"SELECT * FROM links WHERE notactive='$notactive' order by date desc limit $rowstart,3"); //Select Database

Combining Data From Two Fields, Displaying With Another Table
What I am trying to do is pull data from two tables and display it on one page. The code below doesn't display any errors, but all it prints is the results from the first query. Ideas? Thanks.

(I also need to somehow put a variable in for the warranty table data so it is tied to the product_status table data. You can see there is a WHERE in the first query of pid, but no WHERE in the second query. That is a seperate question, though. It would make this way too long, so I will post it separately). Displaying Data In Php - Like HTML?
How do I display data from MYSQL in PHP in an attractive and structured table(HTML) format? For example: I want my database to display all the reviews of a particular movie(like metacritic.com) like this: Code:

Converting Table Data From HTML To PHP
I have a problem converting data from a html file, to a 3 way split. (header.php index.php and footer.php, Reason being PHP won't parse the following line,
<table width="37%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" height="163">
I think it all revolves around the % sign, does anyone have any ideas about how to fix it without limiting the width to X amount of pixels?

HTML Table With Data From Two Recordsets
I have two MySQL tables, say one is author and one is books. Author contains a unique PK say author_id Books contains an author_id also which links across to the author table. Usual stuff. My problem is getting at the info.

If I wanted to display the info, in it's mnost basic format, I would set up a HTML table with the columns and repeat the row. PHP Code:

Extract Data From Table Html
I would like to extract data from the table attached.
Could someone help me to create the regular expression to grab that
informations?

Create A Data Entry HTML Form For Given Table
I am working on a simple web site updating utility for a web site. Rather than hard code the data entry forms, I would like to automactically generate them based upon the table a user selects to update or insert into. What is the best way to approach this?

for "insert" should I use the MySQL DESCRIBE table command and build a form element for each field according to its data type? for "update" should I use the DESCRIBE command to build the form as above and SELECT statement to populate each element with data, or should I just use a SELECT statement to retrieve the data and use php to determine the field type and choose an appropriate form element?

Grab Content From HTML Table And Place Into MySQL Table?
I am in the process of helping a co-worker upgrade some of his old static html pages into dynamic MySQL driven pages. He currently has a lot of pages with huge tables displaying data. Does anyone know if there is a script or class that can convert a table to a .sql file for upload?

Grab Data From A Table, Echo, Then Insert It Into A New Table...
I'm trying to do is count the number of times usernames shows up in a table. I then want to reinsert that information into a different table with the Username in column1 & the occurrences in column2 for every user that is echoed on the page. Code:

Using PHP To Sort Data In MySQL Table 1 By Values In Table 2
I have a MySQL database with 2 tables in it. products and prices.. Products has a field in it called 'prodno'. Prices has a field in it called 'prodid'.

There is one of each item in products and each product has it's own unique 'prodno'

There are multiple instances of each product's pricing in prices.. One for each price.. So if a product had multiple prices depending on quantity it would have an entry for each price.. Example:

id = 1
prodid = 7001
qty = 300
price = 12.5

id = 2
prodid = 7001
qty = 400
price = 15.5

I was wondering if I could query the database getting info from the products table but sort it according to the prices in the prices table.

Kinda like doing a "SELECT * FROM products" ordering it by the lowest price value from each item..

This is all very confusing to me, and I'm the one writing it. Let's try one last time..

Query the database selecting * from products (I plan on using all the info in products) and ordering them by the lowest price for each item in the prices table. I've tried sorting the results of just a basic SELECT * FROM products using Javascript and PHP but with pagination in the results it makes it a bit hard.

Displaying # Of Records In A Table
Can anyone throw me a link to some prefab code, or a tutorial on how I can get a page to display the number of records that meet a certain criteria.

example:
I have a page that stores information on audio FX. I'd like to include a feature that would let the users know how many items are in a particular section.

Player (10)
Items (5)
Weapons (0)
etc.

All help appreciated,

Displaying Table In Php Code
I have a PHP script that has a drop down to select a record, then it should display some text from a database and then display a table of information below it. But, the table is displaying at the top instead. Code:

Update Table While Insert Data To Another Table
it seem like mine coding din work.
[php]<?

$today = date("Y.m.d");
mysql_select_db('hms', $conn);

$ok = mysql_query("INSERT INTO check_in(ID,room_no,datein)values ('$ID','$room','$today')", $conn);

if( $ok ){

$up = mysql_query("UPDATE studtable SET checked = 'checkin' where [ID] = '%ID');

{
echo'Checked IN!'
}else { echo'No such student to check in' }}
else { echo'Check In FAILED, please check again'}?>[php]

Displaying Information In A 1 Row/2 Column Table
I'm very new to php scripting and haven't quite figured out what I need to do here.

I need to display information in a 1 row/2 column table. I have the MySQL query working fine, but the scripting part in php is killing me!

In the first column a graphic about 70x70 will be shown (plus some additional padding). In the second column will be the description information. The second column will be around 400 pixels wide.

How do I set this up in php? It's easy enough in HTML, but I've about killed myself trying to figure out how to properly lay this out in php!

Displaying A Table Using ID Number As Hyperlink
i am able to insert and display data to the end user, but i am trying to let the end user edit a row. I am unsure how this is usually done, but i am have the following code to display by data

 echo "<table border='1'><thead><tr>";
            for($i = 0;$i < mysql_num_fields($sql_result);$i++)
            {
             echo "<th>".mysql_field_name($sql_result,$i).
                  "</th>";
            }
     echo "</tr></thead>
           <tbody>";
     for ($i=0;$i < mysql_num_rows($sql_result);$i++)
     {
        echo "<tr>";
        $row = mysql_fetch_row($sql_result);
        foreach($row as $value)
        {
           echo "<td>".$value."</td>";
        }
        echo "</tr>";
     }
     echo "</tbody></table>";

The user have a jump menu (combo box) to pick the table they need to show information on, so the columns displayed are going to vary, but i have a column called ID which is the same in each tables which is the index (auto increment) field.

I was thinking about using this number comnbined with a hyperlink, so the user can click it to take them to a page to edit that row.... But i have no idea how to do this, or if there is an easier way which i just do not know; or how do most people achieve what i require...

Displaying SELECT Results In A Formatted Table
I was wondering how to show a table with a max limit of 20 results per page. I have various data being pulled and its putting it in a table, but its displayed all in one row. I want to format it so its a 4 column/5 row table. With that I then want the page to generate a numbered list at the bottom that calculates how many pages it takes to show 20 items on each. Code:

Displaying SQL Query Results In 3 Column Table
I would like to be able to display the results of an sql query in an html table, but the results need to be displayed in three columns, for example:

Column 1   Column 2   Column 3
Result 1     Result 2     Result 3
Result 4     Result 5     Result 6
Result 7     Result 8     Result 9

I've tried to find the answers on the internet but i can't find anything that suits my needs!

PHP Displaying Html
I have gotten quite a few small scripts to work so far but now that I'm trying bigger and bigger things I keep hitting a snag that I can't seem to find the answer to.

I will either use include() or simply write in the html code for the script to display, but all i get when the script runs is a blank white page. When i view the source of that page all it is is an html tag, head tags, and body tags with nothing between the opener and closer. I've tried everything i can think of to fix the problem and sometimes it pops up and sometimes it doesn't and I can't see the difference in my code that is making this happen.

Displaying Php In Html
I have a php search engine script, it works fine and gets results from a mysql database.

I was displaying the results in my html pages by way of server side parsing using php include. For some unknown reason after one year of faultless operation (I did not alter anything) it began to parse my results incorrectly. It would parse the wrong id number for data entries. For example it should have displayed id=3456, instead displayed id=17500 which did not exist.

I gave up trying to solve this problem and used an iframe to display the php search results. But I have been advised that many visitors could have disabled the display of iframes (iframes are being used to inject malware into visitors computers so more and more they will be blocked) into the browser.

Is there any other option to get my php script results to display in my html pages?, could I use javascript to display the results of my php script?

Displaying PHP In HTML
I have a login.php, members.php and members.html. Right now, if you login successfully you are taken to members.php. I want to display the users name upon successful login. I can do this in members.php, however I want to display it in members.html (because in HTML pages I can make layout tables/cells). I store the users first name (f_name) and last name (l_name) in session variables with the following code (from login.php):

Displaying Multiple Queries To Same Table Excluding Different Rows!
i've got a table with 224 town listings and their ID's in it from 6 counties, and I want it to displayin a 6 columned table, each county getting their own column. Anyway, here's what I've got and what's happening: PHP Code:

Displaying Text/html In Web POP Email
is it possible that message from web POP mail ( through sockets) appears as html (or text) if it is sent as html, not to appear like source file of the html document? I use web POP mail which is not mine and it displays without problem emails sent as text/plain but shows complete source with all tags if the email is sent as text/html, in other words, it´s useless and very hard to read for user.

Displaying Variables In Html Form
Below i have a form which i want to be filled with variables sent from the last page. can anyone tell me why the variables are not showing - I think its something to do with the syntax of the php inside the html form Code:

Displaying A Html Form With Php Echo
I a have a form for users to enter details. Before the form is shown the user enters a number of values they need to enter.

So the amount the user enters first is the anount of rows the user is given to enter there details. To do this iv used a while loop and a $count variable.

My problem is with echoing the form. I must be doing it in a completly non standard way as allthough firefox displays it perfectely ie doesnt display it at all. Code:

Displaying Data
Probably a really stupid question to ask, but if i have a number in mysql lets say 180000 and it represents a price is there a way to change that to 180,000 without saving it in the database like that?

Formated Email Displaying HTML Code
I'm sending formatted emails that normally work fine, using the following header:

MIME-Version: 1.0

Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1

From: John Cook <jfoc@sev.com.au>

However, one person I send it to (unfortunately, the client I'm actually designing this email for) sees it as HTML code, no formatting. She does use MailMarshal, an email content filter. And the header in the returned email contained these lines:

X-AntiAbuse: This header was added to track abuse, please include it with any abuse report
X-AntiAbuse: Primary Hostname - elaine.networkeleven.net
X-AntiAbuse: Original Domain - hartleyfamilylaw.com.au
X-AntiAbuse: Originator/Caller UID/GID - [99 99] / [0 0]
X-AntiAbuse: Sender Address Domain - elaine.networkeleven.net

My question - would an email filter block HTML formatting? Should I do my header differently?

Displaying Html Code On PHP Generated Page
I am trying to create a link page in my php application. this is a page that will display a block of html code that a visitor can copy and paste into their web site to create a link back to mine. My PHP page has a line in it like this:

define('TEXT_INFORMATION', '<html page code is here>');

I have added the html code to create the page as noted above. the page contains a same of the banner image file and the html code that goes alon with it. My problem is that I haven't been able to "quote" the html code so that ir will not be executed.

every time I try to run the application from my web server my page will display two copies of the banner iimage not on banner image and text block like it should. Any suggestions?

Displaying Wrong Data?
I have a PHP script that inserts data into a database: PHP Code:

Displaying Data From Array
I have a data stored in an array. Want to display it in Internet Explorer... However,could not display it.

Inputing And Displaying Data
i have a website that will list certain shops in my area. i want these shops to be displayed in a table with 4 columns on my website, the first being the name of the shop and when you click on the shop it links you to there website. the rest of the columns will be different images depending on what service they provide.

i thought i could create a form that allows me to input the name of the shop etc, but each time i submit the form it adds the information to my database and creates a new row each time i submit a new shop on the table on my website page.

im very new to php and sql so it would be helpful if you could link me to a tutorial that sort of tells you how to do this or add me on msn.

plus i was just wondering if it is worth buying a book about php and mysql or should i stick to online tutorials. if it is, please recommend me some.

Displaying Data Based On Variable
A Newbie to PHP so please forgive any ignorance of simple methods.

I am trying to develop a site that is driven by a MYSQL database. Dependant on which domain you have been redirected from I need to somehow pickup the domain redirected from and set a global constant to only pull from relative MySQL data e.g FOO = xyz.

This site will obviously have multiple users and I need a way to ensure that user A will be browsing xyz while user B will be browsing abc.

The way I can think of but not entirely sure how to get working in PHP is to assign a Value to the session (FOO) and then on database queries uses WHERE foo_ID = (FOO).

PHP MySQL Query Not Displaying Data
I am having some problems with a database query that I am trying to do.
I am trying to develop a way to search a database for an entry and
then edit the existing values. Upon submit, the new values are updated
in all corresponding tables (the function of the pages in question).
However, on the page that does the DB update, I also want to do some
checks on the data before performing the update.

Now, the problem that I am running into is that when I don't update the
primary key field (keyid) the page is running into the section where it
displays a message that the keyid already exists. This only happens
when the keyid on the previous page is not changed.

Upon troubleshooting the problem I found that the very first SELECT
statement does not seem to be returning any rows despite the fact that
the statement, when run on the SQL server, returns exactly one row. If
any could provide some assistance with this matter, I would be most
appreciative.

Code:
<?php
session_start();
header("Cache-control: private"); //IE 6 Fix

//continue if authenticated
if ($_SESSION['auth'] == 1)
{

//get variables from post
$keyid = $_POST['keyid'];
$username = $_POST['username'];
$corpid = $_POST['corpid'];
$usergroupname = $_POST['usergroupname'];
$oldkeyid = $_POST['oldkeyid'];
$oldcorpid = $_POST['oldcorpid'];
echo("Keyid: $keyid");

// Connect to MySQL
mysql_connect ("address.com", "user", "pass")
or die ('I cannot connect to the database because: ' .
mysql_error());
//select database on server
mysql_select_db ("seniorproject");

//SQL Statement
$sql = "SELECT keyid, corpid FROM users
WHERE keyid='".$keyid"'";

// Execute the query and put results in $result

$result = mysql_query( $sql )
or die ( 'Unable to execute query.' );
echo mysql_result($result,0);

// Count number of matches and print to screen
$numrows = mysql_numrows( $result );
if ($numrows == 1)
{echo(" SQL Query: $sql");
$result_ar = mysql_fetch_row($result);
$result_ar = mysql_fetch_row($result);
$dbkeyid = $result_ar['keyid'];
$dbcorpid = $result_ar['corpid'];
echo("<br> CorpID: $corpid <br>");
echo(" DBCorpid: $dbcorpid <br>");
echo(" DBKeyID: $dbkeyid <br>");
if($dbcorpid == $oldcorpid)
{
//If this condition is true, then KEYID has not changed. Execute

I have been doing this:
<display headers>
<while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { >
<display row 1 of result>
<display row 2... } >
<end table>

but I want to do this instead:
<col 1 header > <row 1 col 1> <row 2 col1> <row3 col1>
<col 2 header> <row 1 col 2> <row 2 col2> <row3 col2>
<col 3 header> <row 1 col 3> <row 2 col3> <row3 col3>

Question About Displaying MySQLl Data
Could someone point in the correct direction with regards to displaying my
data in "nicer" format. I have figured out ( with the tutorials on the web,
and the O'Reilly PHP & MySQL book) how to store, retrieve, manipulate, and
display my data using PHP. But when I do display, it is the block format.
I can't seem to find a tutorial that gets into a "prettier" type of display.

Is this a HTML issue?

I am a newbie to this stuff

Drop-down Displaying MySQL Data
I've got this dropdown trying to call the data in...basically, I only want it to show if it is an upcoming event. Past events are hidden away in the archives.

I can get it to work if I remove the if ($row['date'] etc, but not with it in. Can anyone spot any errors with my code? Code:
