Retrieve ID Of Newly Created Record
I have created a form to add a new record to my table. There is a field in the table however whose value will be generated using a given text string and the id number of the record. For example suppose the ID of the record is 1030 then the string generated value will be something like thisismystring1030 Does anyone know how I can retrieve the record ID as soon as I have created the record so that I can generate the value as mentioned above? Just out of curiosity my next step after this is to create a session variable which willl store the record ID however I have never used these before. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Compare Record With Session Variable And Update Record If Different
I'm trying to figure out how to create a session variable from a recordset field value in a mySQL database and compare this with subsequent values from the same field each time the page reloads. When the value of the field changes (as a result of a user update) I want to trigger an event (redirecting to another page). It's probably a very basic PHP function but I am a newbie with this language.

How Do I Retrieve $Variable From URL?
How Do I Retrieve $Variable From URL? I am designing a user registration section for a web site. Cannot Retrieve Data In Utf-8 From Php
I have a IIS server with php3 installed. I have SQL server database and data stored in unicode format (nvarchar fields). In header of my php I have the meta: <meta HTTP-EQUIV="content-type" CONTENT="text/html; charset=UTF-8">. I have the following problem: - I trie to do a query using ODBC (version 3.525.1022.0) and SQL Server odbc driver (version 200.85.1022.00). The query doesn't retrieve information in utf format and accents and extra characters aren't showed correctly. - I trie to di the query usin native OLE DB. I use mssql funtions and the problem is the same. If I install php4 and I use "new COM("ADODB.Connection",NULL,CP_UTF8);", then it works correctly. Anybody knows if its posible to retrieve data from sql-server in utf-8 format using php3? I see in other postings that odbc driver only accept utf-8 in version 3.7 or higher? Is it true? If is true, where I can download odbc driver 3.7?

Retrieve Remote XML Before Transformation?
I need to scrape some data from a particular website, and had myself geared up for some regular expression magic--when I realized the site was serving straight XML files, transformed client side with XSLT. "Lovely" I thought, "This will make my life easy!" Alas, no matter what method I try to retrieve the xml I can only manage to fetch the rendered HTML output. file_get_contents returns rendered html. curl_exec returns the rendered html. a socket connection returns rendered html. The most frustrating part is I can "view source" in my browser window and see the xml I'm looking for, but can't get to it with PHP. Arrrrgh!

I don't know php, and start to learning it. So I hope you can give me a full php page, not a segment. I don't think it'd be too long though. Luckily, I'm a programmer, so you don't need to comment it much, unless it is too convoluted. Further, if you can throw in handling of gzipped files, that'd be super. If you have Firefox,
How Can I Retrieve, Edit, And Update Text?
I'm trying to retrieve a text value from a MySQL database, put it into an updateable form, allow edits, and send back the edited text back into the MySQL database. I've been able to successfully retrieve the text and put it into the editable form, using htmlspecialchars function. Need Help On How To Retrieve The Respective Value Of Array From Another Table
I'm using explode() to extract and make an array() readable. I'm able to make the array() from dbase readable. categories_table { catid name 1 'test1' 2 'test2' 3 'test3' } implode_table { email catid test@local 1,2,3 help@local 2,3 } For example, if test@local logged in to the system, how can test@local load all the information of the catid he selected? Retrieve Multidimensional Array From Mysql?
I am developing a site to sell dvds. Each dvd can have multiple actors, I have created a select query that returns the film information and if there is more than 1 actor associated, more than 1 row is returned. I have tried to use the mysqli_fetch_array function to retrieve all the rows but this only seems to retrieve the first row. I assumed it would create a multidimensional array but I cannot find a second row. I have tried such things as $row[0][actor_name], $row[1][actor_name] but this does not work.
