How To Run Instert, And Select In 1 Block
I was trying to run 2 querys in the same block.

I wanted enter the zipcode they entered into a database for future analytics later, as well as spit out the results of the search.

I already have the search results part working, but i cant seem to get the insert to work correctly.

I have numbers retrieved from database which is quite big. Is it possible to give a comma seperator in the sql query or otherwise
how can I format with a thousand comma separator?

Deleting Last Comma
The code below displays pet names like so:

Fido, Bowser, Kittycat, Spot,

and I want to delete only the last comma. I tried 'substr' and 'rtrim' and both of those delete the space and comma between each name, not just the last name as I'd like, so I end up with:
Fido,Bowser,Kittycat,Spot,

How would I delete only the last comma, so that it is this instead?
Fido, Bowser, Kittycat, Spot

Even with trim and substr, I end up with:

What i've done is when the user enters the client list separated by commas..... this works, but I need to know how to warn the user when they have enter the client list with no commas.

Is there some sort of function which does this or is it a regular expression thing??

Seperating An Array With A Comma
I'm trying to seperate the output of an array with a comma. I can't figure out how to eliminate the last comma. Here is my code:

Removing A Comma From The End Of An Array
I am reading a file into an array using this:

$listFile = "add2db.txt";
if (!($fp = fopen($listFile, "r")))

The very last character in that $listFile will always be a comma. What I need to do is remove that last comma (and only that comma) from $buffer before I can continue on. What do I need to do to accomplish this?

Comma Delimited File
I am trying to read comma delimited rows of text. The problem is that
some fields may be encapsulated in "" - particularly the text fields but
not numeric fields.

Is there a simple efficient way to parse the fields with comma but also
strip off the "" encapsulating some of the fields with php?

The problem is the "" encapsulation is optional. Some fields will have
it, some won't.

Re Comma Separated List - Another Question
I can do the match perfectly but what i also need to do is create a third
list of comma separated values that are in both

eg:

List 1 => 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,11
List 2 => 1,3,4,5,6,7,10,23

Therefore

List 3 => 1,3,4,5,6,7

How do I populate this third list - I'm really stuck ....

Seperator Instead Of A Comma For Listed Items In DB?
I'm making a recipe database, and need to have DB fields in mySQL that
will have lists of values that would get sent to an array to be worked
on.

I anticipate that at times a comma will need to be used in the value
itself. So, what's a commonly used symbol or something that people tend
to use as a separator of a list that would then be used in the split()
function to send the elements into an array?

How To Check If It's The Last Result And Remove Comma
I am wondering if anyone could help. I have a loop that displays my results and places a comma after each. The problem is that when the last result is displayed, it shows the comma.

Example:

displays... test1, test2, test3,

Notice after test3, there is still a comma? How do I remove it and have it display... test1, test2, test3

I need to import a CSV file into a database daily. That operation in itself is simple enough but the trouble is that some fields are quoted because they have commas inside them. How do I handle this with my import script?

It would be much better if the CSV was created with all fields quoted or used a different delimited but sadly that is not an option.

Stripping Quotes Out Of A Comma Delimited File?
I have a flat file that I'm trying to stick into a MySQL database. One
record per line, multiple fields per record, and many of them are null
fields which are just double quotes without a space between. It's probably
nothing really major for people who have done this before, but I'm a bit
stumped. The file is comma delimited. Every field is surrounded by double
quotes. I've done quite a bit of searching, on the php site and elsewhere,
but I can't seem to get it to strip the quotes out so I can explode the file
line by line to grab the fields.

I need to create some kind of random number within a persons session that can be inserted into a customer id column for their orders, customer, and credit card tables.

Unless their is a better way to link a customers information together between a few tables besides using auto increment. Things could get screwed up for me if I use auto increment, especially if someone submits their information but does not actually place an order.

My question is " How can I create a random order number that can be used within a persons session and will stay the same throughout the whole program for that one person? "

Database Stores Default Number Everytime, But I Havent Set A Default Number??
Im having some problems with my database. Everytime i store a number which is longer than 10 numbers the script or database puts this number into the database: 2147483647. Its does this everytime no mather how i write the numbers and nomather how long the number is, it just needs to be over 10.

I have set any default value in the database and to be sure i havent i tried deleting the table, but same thing happends again???

What I am doing is getting values from a database and what I need to do is print out each of them and print a number for each one, like this.

Help With Getting A Number Of Posts
Hi, I've been trying to make a message board of sorts, and I'm having trouble getting the number of posts in each forum to show correctly. The two tables in mysql im trying to use in order to do this are a table called info, and a table called forumlist. Forumlist has two columns, one with forum_id, and one with forumname. Right now it has three entries, Test Thread, Game Thread, and Discussion Thread, with forum_ids of 1, 2, and 3 respecitively. In the table info, there is a bunch of columns pertaining to the author, the description, but those don't really matter, the one column that does in info is the column forum_id which is an integer I am using to keep track of which thread is in which forum.

Right now there is only one entry in the info table, and that has a forum_id of 1. I have been trying to get it to show that there is one total post in the Test Thread, and 0 in the two others, but for some reason it keeps saying there is one in the Game Thread, and 0 in the others. I tried changing the forum_id to 2 in the info table, but then it said that I had one post in the Discussion Thread and 0 in the others. It seems to be jumping ahead by one for some reason. I could use some help, here is my code:

How do i format numbers to two digit all the time : eg. 01 instead of just 1 .... 02 instead of 2 ..... but 11 is just 11.

Number Sorting
I have a database from which I extract the top ten rows, dependent on a certain value. However, when two entrys have the same value they get the same placement in the "top ten" thingie. I know I can sort them first by position, then by for example name, but that doesn't do it for me.

(1) Printing the values gets me;

1. Malmö
2. Limhamn
3. Jönköping
4. Stockholm
4. Västerås
5. Sjöbo
5. Södertälje
6. Väsby
6. Ystad
6. Örebro

(2) The problem is that it SHOULD say;

1. Malmö
2. Limhamn
3. Jönköping

6. Sjöbo

8. Väsby
8. Ystad
8. Örebro

You see the difference? In (1) "5. Sjöbo" should actually be "6. Sjöbo", since it's the sixth value, cause there are two cities sharing the number 4 spot.

I am outputing a list of 10 values.

10, 20, 30, 40, etc

I can add 15 to one of the values then reorder the values from smallest
to highest but i want to update every single value and assign it values
increamenting by 10

so after the update the second number of 20 and add 15 I get

10, 30, 35, 40

now i want to re output the values above as

10, 20, 30, 40

How To Number 42 Lines 1-14
I have 3 sonnets (14-line poems, fyi) in a file without blank lines and I want to tack line numbers onto the end of each line so that the first 14 lines will be numbered 1-14, as will the second 14 lines and the third. I've exploded the file by "
" so that I have each line as an array value. I've been using various loop fuinctions (for, foreach, while) to try to put individual numbers at the end of each corresponding line, but something either loops too much or not at all.

This is just an example. I know I could number 42 lines by hand, but I'd like an automated system to do it for much more line numbers.
