Installing PHP 5.2.1 On Solaris
I've been following the install guide on the PHP website and everything has gone fine up until where I'm stuck now. I've got Apache installed and running, and I've ran ./configure in the PHP directory with the necessary flags. However, the next step in the process listed in the guide is to do a make. BUt when I do that, this is what I get:

make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
There's nothing in the install guide that says I have to specify a makefile, and it isn't covered in the FAQ either.

Solaris IDE
im kicking around the idea of purchasing a sparc workstation because: 1) they are really cheap on ebay. 2) i always wanted to give one a shot. 3) they are really cheap on ebay. Since i do php development, is there any decent IDE for php development out there that will run on sparc sunos? anyone doing development on a sparc? I'm looking at something like a dual CPU sparc 1000 (dual 750's), and im also curious as to the performance compared to a windoz pc.

Compiling PHP On Solaris
Not sure if this is the best place to ask this, I am trying to compile PHP 5.2 on a Solaris 9 system. I need Oracle DB support so can't use the pre compiled packages on blastwave as I don't think anyof them include Oracle. Trouble On Solaris 8
I'm installing Apache 2.2, PHP 5.04, and mySQL 4.0.21 on a Solaris 8 machine using prebuilt binaries from sunfreeware.com. My apache install went smoothly - the only thing I'm having to work around is an inability to use /usr/local - it's an NFS mount to a central image, so I'm installing in /opt/local. After installing PHP and modifying httpd.conf, I get the following error on startup: httpd: Syntax error on line 110 of /opt/local/apache2/conf/httpd.conf: API module structure `php5_module' in file /opt/local/apache2/modules/libphp5.so is garbled - perhaps this is not an Apache module DSO? Now, I have to confess that I don't have mysql installed yet, but I would think that simply loading the php module wouldn't require this, would it? A search for this message shows one other user has seen it recently, but no resolution online. No hint in /var/apache/logs - no mention of php at all in any of the logs. Any clues as to what could be causing this?

Hi there. Had a look around google and found one post from someone with almost the same error and no reply. SunOS webdb 5.8 I have been trying to install PHP to work with Apache and it all works fine apart from trying to run php from bash. ../configure --with-sybase=/usr/local/freetds --with-tdsver=7.0 --with-apxs=/ usr/apache/bin/apxs --with-mysql=/opt/sfw/mysql --enable-sockets All fine... /opt/sfw/bin/gmake install # echo $LD_RUN_PATH /usr/local/ssl/lib:/opt/sfw/mysql/lib/mysql This all works fine with PHP and Apache but when trying from bash I get the error.. # /usr/local/bin/php /usr/local/bin/php: error: /usr/local/bin/.libs/php does not exist This script is just a wrapper for php. See the libtool documentation for more information. I tried a few more things without success and even tried creating `.libs` incase it was a permission problem when it was compiling - still zilch.

PHP On Solaris (2.6) And Integer Overflow
I have PHP version 4.4 installed on a Soaris 2.6 system and I'm getting strange results doing math/boolean operators. I have a hashing algorithm that does multiplication, bitwise operations and mod() calls interatively on the characters of a filename. On a linux platform the multiplications start to overflow (as I expect) and the overflow is just dropped. The lower three bytes are masked off like this: $result = $result & 0x00FFFFFF; and the loop continues. On the Solaris platform the multiplication fails very quickly in the loop, and it looks like the overflow bits are wrapped around onto the lower order bytes, eventually I end up with an interger value of 0x00FFFFFF because of the masking above. To solve the problem I had to compile the gmp_* function support into PHP and work with the gmp_* family of functions.

Can't Build Apache/PHP/MSSQL On Solaris
Having read everything I can, and compiled apache/php 30/40 times, I cannot seem to get a static version of PHP working with FreeTDS. I know the FreeTDS drivers for MSSQL are working, cos it took minutes to install the Perl Drivers. However, the PHP drivers just will not work ! The BBs/Forums all seem to complain about exactly the same problem, and the only success stories are for Linux. Is this because PHP isn't supported as well as Perl ? Has anyone out there got PHP running on Sparc to talk to an MSSQL server ?

Installing PHP On AIX 4.3
I have been attempting to install PHP on an AIX box with little success. - AIX is version 4.3.3 - Apache on AIX is 1.3.12 I went to the AIX website, and discovered RPMS built for AIX 4.3.3. (http://www-1.ibm.com/servers/aix/pr...x/download.html) So, I installed the RPMS for: - libpng - zlib - freetype - gd - php - apache 1.3.20 I shut down the previous version of apache (1.3.12) and started up the new one (1.3.20) and created a simple phpinfo() script. It reflected that php had been installed correctly, however, the RPM installation did not configure for gd, libpng, freetype, etc. The configuration is copied here: './configure' '--prefix=/opt/freeware' '--with-apxs' '--with-mysql' '--with-config-file-path=/etc/opt/freeware/apache' '--with-ftp' '--with-zlib' '--with-system-regex' '--with-xml' '--with-ftp' Because I really need the graphics libraries installed, I decided to compile from the source, which I have done many times in Linux, however each time I attempt to configure, the process gets halted by errors.

Installing Gd2
Where do I get the gd Supposedly gd2 is supposed to come with PHP 4.3 and up. I installed 4.3.4 a few weeks back (the windows installation) and removed the semicolin (;) from in from of the line in php.ini After a few errors I searched my system and could not find php_gd.dll or php_gd2.dll Where do I get this extension?

Installing 4.1 Or 5
When the install process gets almost to the end, an error message pops up saying the a file C:windowssystem32iisext.vbs cannot be found. The installation then stops and it appears to uninstall itself. I have got IIS6.0 running, although I'm not sure if if it's running properly? I have also got MySQL 5 running and that appears to be OK. I have looked everywhere for this missing file. Lots of references to it on the web, but I can't find anywhere to download it from.

Installing PHP 4.4.2 And PHP 5.1.2
I've been beating myself up trying to install PHP with an Apache server, and no matter what I try nothing seems to work. I'm running Windows XP with Apache version 2.0.55, I've tried installing PHP 4.4.2 and PHP 5.1.2 and so far nothing's worked. I've moved the various DLL files into the system folder, added the "C:PHP" line to the PATH variable, added all the needed lines of code to the Apache config file, and so far it's either broken Apache or simply didn't load.

Installing On Apache
I'm a beginner in PHP, am currently learning the language, and need top install PHP on my system so I can test it off-line. I installed apache and can't get PHP to work with it. I also cannot get it to work with my main site file in another location, only if I put them in the file directory in the within the apache directory. Any ideas? Installing PHP On Win95?
I'm successfully running PHP 4.3 on Win2000 on my desktop but my laptop is running Win95 and I noticed from the PHP site that PHP 4.X is not supported on Win95 (I actually noticed that after I tried to install it anyway!). I am not able to upgrade my OS on the laptop as it's a company one so what can I do? I tried installing PHP 3.0.17 and it doesn't complain about anything but it doesn't resolve the PHP code in the browser, it just displays the code as part of the source. I'd prefer to use PHP 4.X since that's what I have on the desktop but it complains about a dll called KERNAL, I think it exists but is not the one it expects.

I'm just installing PHP on a WIN2000 box and I encountered the following lines in the install menu script: "...Download the latest version of the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) for your platform, especially if you use Microsoft Windows 9x/NT4. MDAC is available at..." I'm having a problem making php with oracle. I downloaded all the needed modules and unzipped them to the specified folder. I configure php with amongst others: --with-oci8=[dir] The header files (such as oci.h) are in the installation directory. I come with an error: OCI_NLS_CHARSET_ID undeclared used in oci8.c 2181. It tries to create oci8.lo.

currently i'm developing simple web server which support cgi with python in win32. and i started from python's basic library, CGIHTTPServer. it support cgi but only for extension like .exe .py. so now i just wanna add php extension here's cgi handling schem of this webserver. first it check requested file's extension. and then if it is 'py' then it call's popen2('python requested-script'). now we can handle input and output file descriptor of this process. it's very simple :) so i add some code for handling php likewise. first i turned off the cgi.force_redirect. and called popen2('python some-request-script') but it shows 'No input file specified' i tested this thing's in python's interactive interpreter in directly then it shows right. let me show some code [color=blue][color=green][color=darkred] >>> files = os.popen2("c:phpphp.exe c: est.php") >>> files[1].read()[/color][/color][/color] "Content-type: text/html X-Powered-By: PHP/4.3.5 here's php" but when i run this code via http server, it seems like 'c: est.php' doesn't passed to 'c:phpphp.exe' i think php.exe waste it's stdin.

I Have A Problem Installing........
My setup (or would be setup): -Redhat 6.2 -Apache 1.3.12 (RPMS on rh62 CD) -PHP 4.0.0 -Oracle 8i R2 I ran PHP with MySQL support for a while, but now I'm porting to Oracle(orders from the man). The problem lies in when I'm done compiling and try to start httpd. It seems ok, but if I check with "ps | grep httpd" it's not running. I compile with "./configure --with-apxs --with-oci8".

Installing PHP On XP Problems
I tried to install PHP with Apache server and with IIS from windows XP. In both cases server works, but the system can not load a .php script but asks for a program with which the file was created. For IIS there is even an installer so there is no chance of wrong setup.
