I'm trying to execute the following SQL statement and get the following error.

I'm running PHP4, Apache 1.3.12 (Win32) and connecting to an Access database on a Win2K box.

I need to populate a list box and/or a dropdown list on a form. I have all
the bits and pieces together, all bar the code which takes the result of a
query and creates a list box.

PHP And Microsoft Access
Is it possible to use php to interface with an ms access database?

Our current database (customers, suppliers etc) is in ms access format and we need to run msaccess. I dont feel like converting the whole database over to mysql and we still need the original system, the idea will be that the staff can access the database on the road thru a webpage.

Exporting To Microsoft Access
I have a PHP website with a mySQL database and a client wants to be able to see the database on his computer using Microsoft Access.

I would like to be able to make a special backdoor section for him, where he enters his username and password and is given a link which will make take a snapshot of the mySQL database and convert it to a Microsoft Access database which he can download to his computer.

Is this possible?

Since he isn't very computer savvy I need a way as user friendly as possible to let him download the database and view on his local computer.

Microsoft Access -> PhpMyAdmin
Alright, so what’s going on is that I have coded an entire website with in mind to have an Access Database. So everything works great...

But now I am faced with the problem that I have to have my webpage work with phpMyAdmin, which works completely differently in running my sql statements and everything, ie: ->EOF, select statement, etc...

Is there a way for me to have a smooth transition for my code to work with phpMyAdmin instead of Access at the moment, because recoding all of this means an enormous amount of work with not much free time left on my hands. Code:

I've tested the resulting $SQLText string in Access directly and it works find there so this must be a PHP or ODBC issue.

Inserting A Date Into A Microsoft Access 97 Database
I was wondering if anyone could help me insert a short date into microsoft access 97 using php? i can insert text no problem but i can't seem to be able to insert a date properly. i have been using

Smarter Way Of Doing Dropdown List?
I've got a dropdown list that is acting as a filter on a table, so the user can select a value and the page is reloaded only showing the matching values from the database.

Now when the page reloads the dropdown was set to 'all' as it was first in the list, even if I'd selected a different value, this was confusing for users, so I added an initial <option> field which pulled the correct value from $_GET (code below) - however this is a little odd as it means the value appears twice!

Does anyone have a genius solution to this? I've seen a <select selected="yes"> sort of thing around, but I don't know how I can tell the php to add this value dynamically?

Autopopulate Dropdown List From Database
An events-registration page with a form containing a dropdown list for upcoming events, the events will be pulled from a table which is updated by...?

what i've gathered so far is that this can be done with PHP. I am a little unclear on the concept of how this is done. How does the updated information get input into the table?

1) can this be done (updating database) through a web interface by the client, or is it something i would have to do locally and then upload. If done by the client, can he delete/edit existing information--assuming he is not familiar with code.

2) what other things aside from html(good), sql(so-so), and php(newb) will i have to know?

i've seen a lot of good tutorials here and will have access to the necessary software. I just want to know if there is anything else i should know before i dive in head first without testing the PHP water, which i assume is frigid.

Dropdown List Of Files In Folder
I am preparing a form that includes a drop-down list consisting of the names of files in a certain folder on the server.

I only need to trap the file name (jpg), not the path and I'm not trying to upload the files or anything - simply allow the user to select one of a number of different image files (they're actually location maps).

As I've found tons of VB and C# sample codes, I was trying to transform

it into PHP code, using the COM objects. My aim is to create a simple
html, that creates a wav from a text. Here's what I've tried -the php
script part-:

Reading Microsoft Office Documents?
I need to be able to upload a Microsoft office document and then show the contents to the visitor, in addition i need to be able to write documents on the fly.

Is there a way of doing this, or will i have to spend days researching and programming my own classes to handle it?

PHP Will Not Read More Than 4096 From My Microsoft Sql Text Field.
I have a textarea that is saving to a mssql text (very large) field. The insert, update is working fine. However, when php reads the data using mssql_result function, I'm getting limited to 4096 characters read by php. I know that there are at least 6000 characters and I can see them using microsoft's query analyzer. This is not a magic quotes, single quote, quote, html entity or anthing like that. PHP will not read more than 4096 from my microsoft sql text field. Any ideas how I can get php to read more?

List Contents Of A Folder, Make List Of Links
Does anyone know how I can write a script that:

- reads in all the files in a particular directory
- displays the file names in a html list and makes a link of them:

Get List Of Messages From One Table, Message List Indicator From
I have two tables. One has a list of messages left by users using fields named mbxno for the mailbox and msgno for the message number. I have another table that has mailbox settings for each user that contains a field named "messagelist" to indicate if they want to be included on the message list or not.

What I'm trying to create is a list of the most-recent messages with a lookup on the users table to indicate whether a message in the list should be included in the message list based on the user's mailbox settings.

What I'm getting, though is a list that looks like this:

I think what's happening is that I'm using the wrong type of join and more rows are being created than necessary.

If I add "DISTINCT" to the query, I get a list of the most-recent messages as I expect, but the "messsagelist" value is sometimes wrong (again, probably because the data is getting jumbled). For example, the messagelist value for the second row (2214) should be 0, not 1.

I have a dropdown in which i want it to open a soundfile when selected. So, how do I go about this. I have a dynamic drop down that needs to be populated from different columns in a database. The problem I'm running into is that sometimes fields do not have a value. So I would rather those didn't print out. The code below prints out the blank fields.

I know I need to loop through and check for an empty value, but I'm drawing a blank on the how part. Code:

i'm looking for a way to do the following :

1. selecting data from a MySQL database
2. putting one field into a dropdown
3. after selecting a value from the dropdown follow some more php code

step 1 is no problem, step 2 is no problem with the html select statement however this leaves me on the client side. After this i'm not able to return to the server side to execute some more php code, with the onchange attribute i can start some javascript but i want ( read need ) to use php code. Concrete question : is there a way to create a dropdown in pure php code ?
