I am trying to get a drop down list to populate vbia php. What I have a is a script that allows a airline/user to enter airfare and price for tickets. It dumps them into a database and then allows the user to view/delete/add. I want the user to be able to edit the airfare. I have a drop down list that is set as a variable $ticket_from, $ticket_to. Populating A List Dynamicly
Is there an easy way to populate a list dynamicly? It stinks javascript here, but I don't know how to do it with that either. I have one list A that contains enteries with ID's as values. List B should then fill with information from a database according to wich ID is choosen in list A. Since alot of otherthings is entered on the page to I would like to nopt have to deal with sending all the data and loading the same page again. Is there a way in PHP to link to the same page and have all the filled textfields stay as they were? Or do I have to use post? I have the thought of loading all the data from the database and having it in an array or something and having a javascript picking and writing the choosen ones to the list. But that would be alot of excess data so getting it "live" from the db would be better.

is there a way to populate a list, or a menu form using php, and MySQL? Basically i have a list, and i am planing to import 2 variables, id, and name, bouth id and name are variables loaded from MySQL (yes there are multiple id's, and name's) Name would be the label displayed, and the value would be id. Smarter Way Of Doing Dropdown List?
I've got a dropdown list that is acting as a filter on a table, so the user can select a value and the page is reloaded only showing the matching values from the database. Now when the page reloads the dropdown was set to 'all' as it was first in the list, even if I'd selected a different value, this was confusing for users, so I added an initial <option> field which pulled the correct value from $_GET (code below) - however this is a little odd as it means the value appears twice! Does anyone have a genius solution to this? Add Variables To Dropdown List
I have a list of variables: $variable[0] $variable[1] $variable[2] The amount of variables changes so i've used $total = count($variable) to find the amount there are. How would i tell php to create a dropdown menu with the amount of options=$total and then fill the options with $variable[0] etc. I know i can use a loop to increase the value of say $i by one each time to that i can use $variable[$i] each time, i'm just stuck with adding the whole thing to a dropdown menu with the right number of option...

An events-registration page with a form containing a dropdown list for upcoming events, the events will be pulled from a table which is updated by...? what i've gathered so far is that this can be done with PHP. I am a little unclear on the concept of how this is done. How does the updated information get input into the table? 1) can this be done (updating database) through a web interface by the client, or is it something i would have to do locally and then upload. If done by the client, can he delete/edit existing information--assuming he is not familiar with code. 2) what other things aside from html(good), sql(so-so), and php(newb) will i have to know? i've seen a lot of good tutorials here and will have access to the necessary software. I have two tables. One has a list of messages left by users using fields named mbxno for the mailbox and msgno for the message number. I have another table that has mailbox settings for each user that contains a field named "messagelist" to indicate if they want to be included on the message list or not. What I'm trying to create is a list of the most-recent messages with a lookup on the users table to indicate whether a message in the list should be included in the message list based on the user's mailbox settings. I have put together a script that populates a dropdown menu from a database. My database contains a table called casinocredit, and it contains records that have been enterend over 2 different months (may and june). I have an mp3 player for my site. Now I still have to make an upload script but I am wondering something. How would I go about making the scritp write the needed information to the playlist.xml file? So for instance a member uploads a file called "Cowboys_from_hell.mp3" how would I insert this info to the play list? <track> <title>Cowboys From Hell</title> <creator>Pantera</creator> <location>cowboys_from_hell.mp3</location> </track> The tags are already in the playlist so I just need to insert the data between the tags.
