Displaying Data From Mysql Database In A Drop Down List On Form.
I'm trying to do is display data from two different mysql tables from the same database in a drop down list on a html form. I have a fixtures table with the player1(userid), player2(userid), gameid, game, score1 and 2, what I want is to use the userid to get the players first name and surname from the members table (as it is a unique id), I need to do this bit before displaying it in the drop down. I think i need 2 querys to do this but when I have tried it it just echo's a blank value or the userid not the forname and surname that I want. I'm using the fetch_array function but just can't see where I'm going wrong, Code:

Autopopulating Drop Down Not Saving Unless A Selection Is Made
I have a form that autopopulates and allows user to make changes where necessary. In this form are some drop down menus (hardcoded on the page). All the selections (50 states for example) are there. If I select a state it will then post to the database. If I don't select a state and just leave it as the previously selected state (not change the selection already made by a user) it puts a blank in the database.

Examples:
The <?="$rest_state_pr"?> will pull the state the user selected previously. If I change the slelection it saves the new selection, but if I leave it as the "default" It puts a blank in the database. Code:

Saving Selection In Drop-down Lists In PHP After Page Reload?
I can't find an answer to my quesiton anywhere.

Given a drop-down list with USA states and other text fields I pass
this information for further processing via PHP. If any of the required

fields is empty, the PHP script would return an error and reload the
form page asking to fill out those fields. All entered information is
saved... except for the drop-down list selection. I tried to write a
Javascript function which is echoed by PHP, but interpolation of PHP
variables in the Javascript section gives a syntax error message in
Javascript.

The PHP script returns, e.g., an "AL" string for Alabama. Of course, I
don't want to write PHP code for each option to make it selected.

A Dynamic Drop Down List
I need to create a dynamic drop down list. By this i mean that the webpage html form = select style will recieve all the values as based on a query to a mysql database. I have no problems quering the data base with PHP, But i need to make some kind of for loop that will add a new value to the selct form for each result from the database. my thought process go like this.

1. call data base to guery. (no problem)

2. make variable variables that will be created according to the number of results (these variables must be created according to results of query, not a problem i think)

3. make a form like this

2 Drop Down List Using MYSQL
I have a model table with the following fields: MODEL_ID, MAKE_ID, NAME.
And a make table with the following fields:
MAKE_ID, NAME.

The first drop down list (make) to select a make of a car i.e. Chevrolet, Ford. When a make is selected, then all the model for that paticular make appear in the second drop down list.

PHP And MYSQL Drop Down List
I need a script to create a drop down list which has vehicle makes. The vehicle make list should feed a vehicle model list so when I select a make all the models for the make appear in the model list. I have a make table which has MAKE_ID, make NAME and a model table which has MODEL_ID, MAKE_ID and model NAME.

I tried using a script using javascript array but wherever I have a query that pulls the NAME from the database there's always a carriage return after the NAME which messes up the javascript array. I'd rather do it all with PHP if possible. If not please give me one that works and I don't have to spend hours troubleshooting.

I am working on a directory of businesses which has 8 main categories and each category has several sub-categories. Example: Dining is a Category with Pizza, Fast Food, Chinese, etc. I have the sub-categories brought up in just a list on the left side of the page and when the user clicks on a sub-category it takes them from client_list.php to client_filter.php only showing businesses in that sub-category of the main category.

So only pizza places listed under dining. I am developing a PHP/MySQL project and as part of my initial setup and configuration scripts, the users can select a skin for the application, and a variable value ($skin) is updated to set the current skin, this works ok on it's own, but currently the user must manually type the skin name in a free-text box.

Ideally this needs to be a drop-down option box, and I would like this to be populated by listing the sub-folders within the '/skins' folder, so that it's always up to date. The folder structure looks like this:

How Do You Insert A Value From Drop Down List To SQL Table?
I am a bit new to PHP and SQL so this may seem like a dumb question.

I have already created a drop down list as part of a form which is
automatically populated with values taken from a separate database. When a
user goes onto this page and either leaves the default value or selects a

Error Correction On Drop Down List & Sessions
Hi I'm doing a site at the mo and I have to do error correction on a form. I have most of it done except one or two bits. What I'm having trouble with is drop down lists. What happens is someone fills in the form, it's not done properly so it gets redirected back to the form. Everything works right except the drop down list. The sessions carries over alright but I can't get the drop down list session to work. It marks the session as selected but it's not displayed the first option is displayed. So if you picked Germany and America was first on the list. After being submited America would be displayed but Germany would be checked.

I want viewers to compare state laws on a single subject.

Imagine a three-column table with a drop-down box on the top. A viewer
selects a state from the list, and that state's text fills the column below.
The viewer can select states from the drop down lists above the other two
columns as well. If the viewer selects only one, only one column fills. If
the viewer selects two states, two columns fill. Etc.

I could, if appropriate, have a separate htm page with the text for each
state -- california.htm for example. When the viewer selects California from

Or, I could conceivably use a text or mysql database with two fields for
each record: state_name and law_text -- but it would probably be easier to

Saving Data Between Pages
Is it possible to save session values between pages? I did a little script
to let the users login. I use this script to check username and password the
user introduces in a form in the main page, index.php.
If a user is found with username and password, than I create
$_SESSION['Login'] and assign it a value of true, else I assign it a value
of false. If a user is non registered, I send it to the proper page to
register, RegistraUtente.php, if he is registered yet, I send him back to
index.php
But here in index.php $_SESSION['Login'] has no value.

How About Auto Loading Data Models
Consider you have a model like this

Models are usually relevant to database tables. So if you have tables
with 10-12+ fields you may define accessor methods for all these
fields in your model. Now when loading data manually in the model
after submitting an HTML form you need to call them like this

..........................

For models with few accessor methods it may be easy to type manually
all these data. But for 10-20-30 its totally ridiculous.

Thats why I designed this small Automatic Data Loader class which
takes a model as first argument and and data array as second argument
and then loads data from that array to that model. How is it looking?

Now if you have two input object named "email" and "name" for example
in yoru html form and you call this loader as shown below, it will
load all the data from $_POST to the model automatically.

as the model is accessed with BY_REFERENCE style, so it will fetch
$model->setName() and $model->setEmail with appropriate $_POST data
and your model will be loaded automatically.

This comes really handy when you have to load models with many
accessor methods. I developed this object while working for Bangla
Chat Engine last night and Ha Ha HA, it really saves my time.

Caution: Using raw user submitted data from $_POST or $_GET is not
secured. You should filter them first.

Loading All The Data Of A Page Into A Variable.
I was wondering how you would go about emulating

Saving Form Data Without Submit?
I could need some advise on a form / form processor I am working on. Normaly I store all form data through php into a class variable for later use. I do this by submitting the form. However I would like to ease the usage of my form and would want each form field to store its' information "onChange".

I did this before with "onChange=thisformSubmit()", but that's not acceptable in this case. Is there any other sensible method to save fields individually? maybe using Ajax? Maybe there's a good tutorial somewhere?

Html Form Processing - Saving Data To A File...
ok.. basically, what I'm doing is setting up a very basic news script base on flatfile storage (mostly to teach myself PHP by doing, which is the best way I've found to learn).

set up the php and the html templates first, and all that works fine. I set up the admin menu, and have a edit config script that works great (edits the config and file locations values via an admin form)

Saving Data Into Database From A Dynamically-added Textbox
let's say i have a html form with textboxes that can be dynamically added with javascript.

i'd like to save each of the textbox's value into a new different row in the database.

so i'll have this in my html form:

Select Data In Drop-down Box
I have a two text box and one select box.

two text box will be filled with date values. (in the form of
dd-mm-year)
First text box is called "start date"
Second is "end date"

Thus, I want to put dates between "start date" and "end date" in select
box.

Is there any way to put automatically in option field?

and then, add date till startdate + difference.
