Date Picker!
Im in the middle of a building my 1st Php Website (just for education ) and need Help with a Datepicker, What i need is either Javascript or an Easy Way to do it in php..

I did make a Quick Pull Down menu that put in the next 7 Days but I dont know if its dreamweaver or what but when i tried to copy it to another page it got corrupted & the php and shows the actual php code and not the Resulting Date?

so although my scruffy attempt works im sure there is a better way using a real Datepicker..

what i need is a Picker that shows this in the forms box when date selected:-
Day - Date - Month Year ie ("Saturday 4th Feb 2006").

Calendar/Date Picker
I have searched for hours on end trying to find the perfect calendar. I would like one that:

1. Displays the selected date into drop-down boxes e.g 1 for day, 1 for month and 1 for year.

2. These drop down boxes can then be saved to database

3. Anything else goes really, as long as it looks good.

File Picker For Input
I posted something about this originally in the javascript forum, but I think it would have been better suited here. Guessing php for the file/directory browsing and js to pass the value to the form. I have a form and on that form is an input field that needs a path & filename. I'm afraid the user will mistype when entering, and would like for them to beable to use a file picker to browse the directories and select the file, passing that value to the input field.

i shows the date as of west coast time. so the time now is 1:40am april 6, 2007 my page will still show april 5, since west coast is 3 hours back. (10:40pm apr 5) how do i compensate for this time zone difference? i want my time / date to always reflect eastern standard time.

Adjusting Time Displays For User's Local Time
I have a news/comment site where stories and comments are accompanied by the date they were posted. Currently I'm doing that in the GMT format, simply because it's easiest.

What I'd like to do, however, is have the page display posts and comments with "your time," i.e., the local time of the user (example of what I'm talking about here).

I know how to get local time variables from a user with javascript, but I'm not sure how to pass that information to PHP, especially since I'd like to do this on the front page, which means no passing javascript information via query strings.

Displaying Time In Different Time Zones
I'm trying to get to grips with times, and as an exercise am trying to
create a function to display the time in various places.

The way I'm currently doing this is as follows:

// -------------------------------
putenv("TZ=GMT"); //set to GMT
$time_to_convert = mktime(15,0,0); //gives me 3pm GMT

echo(strftime('%d/%m/%y %H:%M',$time_to_convert)); //3pm

putenv("TZ=CET");
echo(strftime('%d/%m/%y %H:%M',$time_to_convert)); //7pm
// -------------------------------

That seems to work fine, and gives me the dates in the various places.
The question I have, is how can I determine if a given country is in
daylight-savings?

Essentially, what I want to achieve is a list that will tell me what
time it is in a given country right now. (A bit like the World Clock

Server Time Vs Browser Time
I want to set a cookie and have it expire an hour after it's set. It's
looking like this is only possible for browsers which are in the same time

the cookie should expire 1 hr later. But time() returns the time as it is at
the location of the server. If whoever loads my page is 3 timezones east of
where my server is, the time that I set is already expired as far as that
browser is concerned. Is this correct or am I completely nuts?If it is correct, is there any way I can set a cookie based on the browsermachine's time clock, so it will work the way I want no matter where thebrowser is located relative to the server?

Php - Time Until You Hit
Heya, I havn't worked with the time functions of PHP much, and im having an issue with something i thought would be rather simple.

All i want to do is display how many hours/minutes/seconds are left until you hit 17:30 or 5:30 pm. I thought ok thats easy. Get current time - 17:30. I thought it would work like lets say its 17:00

17:00 - 17:30 = -30 that what i want the - 30 minutes until 17:30

If you do this in PHP with mktime(19,30,00,01,01,1970); and time(); It actually comes out as 10:30. So i tried a range of other things but couldn't seem to get it to just return how long until the time i made. Code:

$thistime = time();
$mktime = mktime(19,30,00,01,01,1970);
$timeuntil = $thistime - $mktime;
<?php echo date("H:i:s a", $timeuntil);?>

Run that and you will see what i mean.
