A3 Size
I create a new document at the default A3 size however when I zoom in to 100% it is clearly not A3 size, it is much much bigger.
How can I get A3 to look A3 on my screen?

Image Size Related To Print Size
I'm using Photoshop 7. I create a new document 8.5 x 11 inches at 150 pixels per inch. I draw a circle 1" from the top of the image. The circle is 3" in radius. When I print the circle is nearly .25" smaller in radius and slightly less than 1" from the top. Why is the output not in the same placement and proportions as the image on the screen?

Canvas Size + Resolution= File Size?
Can someone please explain to me about file sizes and image dimensions. I have to put together a collage which is 165mm high by 258mm wide. If I click file new and choose default resolution (72) then the file size is ok, if I type in 300 dpi the image becomes huge. If i chosse 300 dpi then the images I was going to use seem tiny on such a vast workspace - Im confused why does the canvas become so large when changing resolution?

Working Size Vs. Print Size
The rule of thumb for traditional illustration work is to do the original about 1/3 larger than it will be printed to allow for some tightening up. My question is, when working in photoshop at 300 dpi, is there any reason to work larger than the print size?

Image Size, Canvas Size...
I have a created a new PSD that is 8 1/2 x 11.The canvas size is the same 8 1/2 x 11.I want to put a border around the picture (say 1/2 of an inch all around), and put the finished picture in a Picture frame. After it is in the frame, you would be able to see the entire picture plus the border. Q. Should I change (reduce image size) of the PSD to (for this example), 8 x 10 1/2.     Then increase the canvas size to 8 1/2 x 11. After I increased the canvas size, do a Paint Bucket fill with white (to create the White border)? then print the changed size PSD on 8 1/2 x 11 paper so that it will fit into a 8 1/2 x 11 picture frame I realize I could have just created the new PSD to be 8 x 10 1/2 in the first place.

Poster Size & Paper Size
I am making an independent film. And I've decided to use Photoshop to make the Poster...but theres one problem. We'll...3 actually. Hopefully someone could help me out and I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you can only answer one, I will still greatly appreciate it. 1. Tool Size - Brush Size
for some reason when I change brush size by the pallette or the [ keys I only see the cross hairs with a dot in the middle. I've tried ctrl, alt shift to reinsate all settings but still do not see a visual representation of the brush size.

Image Size Vs File Size
 When I save a file to jpeg the image size in photoshop remains the same as it was as a tiff file BUT according to the information that comes up in windows properties the file is much smaller (300k vs 2.9mg).  Can you advise me which is the correct file size?  If the correct size is the one showing in windows (300K) does mean that the file compressed in JPG and lost a lot of information?  and if this is the case how can I prevent that from happening and still save the file as a JPG?  [ I would like the image to remain the size photoshop shows it to be] . Thank you very much.

Concerning Size...
I'm doing a project with someone in a different part of the world, doing illustrations for a book, and I've been having some issues regarding size. The illustrations I'm doing are supposed to be about 11x9 inches and that's the size I've been making them on my pc.... however, when I send them to my contact, who's using a Mac, he's seeing the images as only about 2x1.5 inches and at 72 resolution, while I've been saving them at 300 res at full size. I'm really confused, is the problem lying with the jpeg or should I be saving it as a different file type?

Bit Size
I have a canon 40D which produces 14 bit files. When working in CS3 the only options for working these files are 8 bit or 16 bit. When I open a file from camera raw it imports into PS and indicates the file as 8 bit. Is there any way I can work on this file in an higher bit rate than 8 bit? My goal is to end up with the best possible files from my camera with as little image degredation as possible.

File Size
I purchased the photo CD from my wedding photographer. When I got it I noticed that the size of all the photos was between 600KB and 1,200KB. I went back to the photographer and told her the file size was too small. She claimed that when you open them they get really big; around 20MB. Anyway I went to her office and asked her to demonstrate that for me, and she was not able to. Eventually she agreed to give me the photos right off her camera which were around 4MB and above. The first time they printed it out, some of the photos were washed out. The photographer agreed to have it redone. At this point we are about ready to print it again. Before doing so I asked the photographer for a screen shot from windows explorer, showing the sizes of the original photos they used in the album. Sure enough they were all the same size as on the original CD she gave me. Most of them were less than 1,200KB. I want to ask the photographer to switch these out for the higher resolution photos she gave me the second go round on the CD. I think she is going to argue that it does not need to be done. The album designer in China also said that when the photos are opened in photoshop they get really big; up to around 20MB. does photoshop really have a mechanism to compress files down to less than a megabyte, and then decompress up to 20MB? Will I have print quality issues if they are using photos that were less than a MB? Unfortunately on the CD all of the pictures of the wedding party and the family have a big sunspot in the bottom left corner. Is it an indication that she did not use a lenshood?

Getting Target Size One Doc To Another
I need to automatically rezize a photoshop document by using an action. Sounds pretty simple, yes. But the thing is that the flow needs to grab the individual/specific size from ANOTHER open document (different from time to time) to be used as the target size.... I need to make the grab the target size from a variable, so to speak. I've tried to use the crop-tool to grab size and then use select all + crop on the other document, but no. Plus loads of workarounds. It has to be a full auto function to be run from a droplet. This is what it will be used for: A faksimil scan from a newspaper page needs to get a broken side like it had been ripped out by hand. A shadow on the ripped edge as usual. Easy to do by hand. But the action flow will use a "template"document holding a pre-made layermask built with the right edgelook. The Action will rezize this to fit the original faksimil dokument and apply the ripped edge+ shadow on the faksimil document in one go. By loading the selection from the layermask over to the faksimil.

File Size Changes
1. When I shoot a picture in RAW, it comes out of the camera at a certain size, say 10 megs. When I bring it into Photoshop (while bypassing the RAW converter by holding down the shift key and hitting 'enter'), the image size is 57 megs...even before I do any processing whatever. What caused the file size to go from 10 to 57 megs when the only thing I did was to simply open it in Photoshop? 2. If I shoot 10 RAW images, they all come out of the camera a different size, e.g., 9.7 megs, 10.2 megs, 9.8 megs, etc. Since the sensor in the camera is the same, why wouldn't each image come out the camera the exact same size when shooting in RAW)?

Font's Size?

Font Size 0
I have Adobe Photoshop 8 CS which I've used many times before without a problem. Recently I re-installed Windows XP (which I've also done many times before) and I noticed after re-installing Photoshop I cannot add text to images. Whenever I try, I am able to select the area where I want to add text but the cursor doesn't appear and the font size is set at 0.01. I try to set the font size higher and it continuously drops back to zero. Oddly though, I am able to add text to images in Image Ready without a problem. I've tried re-installing Photoshop again, cleaning the registry and temp files between installs and I get nowhere. I've never experienced this problem before and I'm usually the one giving help advice as opposed to getting it but here I seem to have no choice except to swallow my pride and ask. Would it be an issue with the font settings somewhere in Windows or has something perhaps messed up my registry?

Printing :: Getting Right Size
I created a document in photoshop cs3 and cs4 @ 7wX11h inches @ 300 dpi. When I go to print it the image it prints about 3/16ths too wide. I'm printing from a home printer just to show the client the product. Then i want to send to a printer for production. I need to get the sizing right!

Resolution VS Size
A friend took a digital photo with his camera best quality, tiff, and PS showed it had a 72 dpi resolution but a big size: about 70 x 60 cm. (I don't remember the pixels size but it looked high). I thought the resolution was very low for obtaining a good print but it can be printed with good quality at a 16 x 20 in size. Which is the equivalences between resolution, image size and pixels size? How you convert one mesure to another? Can I forget about resolution and care only about pixels size?

Logo Size
i have a logo from my workplace, and they want it blown up to like 10 times the size (A2 size). However its only like 100px by 100px, and it looks very distorted & blurred when this size.. Any ideas of how i could make it bigger, or render it so that its more solid in colour?

Size Display
when you open a file, how do you see the length and width of the image easily? So far I see where I can click on the little arrow button at the bottom frame of the window that contains the image and I click on the menu item for "Show" and then select "Document Dimensions" but it displays in inches and not in pixels.

Brush Size In PS CS4 Cut Off
When I make the brush size for any tool bigger part of it will disappear. Only the small brush sizes are shown as complete circles. This happens with all tools that use a brush size. If I make the brush bigger or zoom into the document only a small part of the brush size will be visible. This part of the brush is placed inside a square. The edge of this square cuts the cursor off at the bottom and right. If I move something with the move tool and it's a bit fast, the same square size will pop up, dividing the object into squares. The first one makes it impossible to work in Photoshop since I can't use big brushes (with either pencil, brush, erasor): I can not see the cursor when the brush is big or if the document is zoomed in. If the document size is 100% and the brush is big the same thing happens. Working on a brand new workstation. XP 2002 SP3. Intel Quad corre Q9550 @2.83 Ghz. I.98 Ghz 2.98 GB RAM. Graphics card NVIDIA Quadro FX 1700. Extra hard drive 1 Tb.

Canvas Size Bug
I was trying to add 5mm around the canvas, when i noticed something strange. I changed the measurement to cm, then added 1cm to each, Height and Width, then changed the Width measurement to mm (which changed both displays to mm) but only one of the setting changed to mm; the height still had the same value it had when displayed in cm. This only happens when both Height and Width are changed.

PSD File Size To Big..?
I know that Photoshop supports a maximum file size of 2 GB and maximum pixel dimensions of 30,000 by 30,000 pixels per image. My friend has a file size 2,10 GB that he closed and now he can not open the same with Photoshop. Is there any way that he can open this file at all?

Print Size/100%
I've done a photo merge and am working on it at a size of 12cm (h) x 57cm because my poor old mac is able to save changes faster at this size. The real size I want to print it at is much, much bigger - a banner. When i choose print size, it looks pretty good (about 30%), but if I zoom it to 100% its really jagged. Which do I believe in terms of print quality? Will it print how it looks at 100%?

Artwork Size
I usually design for the screen (72) but lately i feel that if im putting massive amounts of time/effort into a piece.... that I dont want to deny myself the option of getting it printed down the road. Now here is the catch...my camera is only 2MP. So the best i can do with that is an 8X10 @ 150dpi which isnt much (its ok quality.....i have an 11X14 @150 hanging on my wall thats decent). So now when i go to create a new piece i dont know what size to make it. I cant jam up the ppi to far cause i dont have that kinda quality photograph...but i dont want a small document set to 72 cause if i want it res it up i get an extremely small print. Like 2 examples...one piece i have i made 612x792 (8x10) but its at 72..so if i wanted to print it at 150 (at best) it's going to be really small (4x5... if that). Now another piece i made is 1000x1294 @72 (a large 8x10). Now with this size my 1600x1200 photographs fit fine and if i res it up to 150 i can still achieve an ok 8x5. So now what do i do. I cant make an 8x11 @ 300 ( i dont have that kinda quality) but i hate the fact that an image i put so much work into can only print like 3x4.

Canvas Size
im currently working on a project that requires a very large canvas. currently, photoshop will not create any canvas with pixel dimentions of over 30k x 30k. the only way i can currently fit my entire image is to drastically lower the image DPI, any way to change this limitation photoshop has, or if theres another program I can use to do this?

Size Of Slices?
i have just sliced black box with rounded corners, hence i slice the four corners and used css to change the background color of the rest of the box - so as not to export square items (as css can do this with changing the color only). The reason i am asking is that we are now in age of DSL and high speed internet so maybe i should have sliced the whole image rather than the four corners? This is where i get a little confused, of course the way i do it works but is it correct? I have also noticed some sites are using a "LARGE" background image in there CSS which contains content holders (with square corners) etc... which i think is great, but does the file size / speed suffer Once i have sliced and exported my images is it better to always put the images in as background images (within divs) rather than images thenselves?

Image Size
I'm trying to use some brushes, and to make them fit where I want. I have to rotate the image. When I do this the image and canvas change size. I always seem to end up with an image the size of a postage stamp. How do I fix this? I write down the sizes of the original canvas and image, but when I adjust them back to the original sizes. The image is pixulated (Hope I spelt that right).

Picture Size
I am trying to create a picture that is an 8 x 10 so I can print it for a frame. When I create the new document I choose 8x10 new RGB image (not sure what resolution I should use, I picked 200) The problem is that when I resize another image that I am dragging into my new document it blows up way to big even though I changed it to 8x10. I tried lowering the resolution to 70 but it still does not fit a 8x10 picture format.

Image Size
I've been trying to figure out this problem but i jus can't, i was wondering if any of you guys could help me out. When i want to print somethine i go to print preview. Then i resize the height and width of the image. I'm happy with the height, but i'm not happy with the width. So i move it a little wider, but low and behold the height moves with the width. Is their a way of rezising one without resizing the other ?
