Adobe Drive CS4
What is Adobe Drive CS4 and how can I remove it. It gets in the way of a number of keyboard shortcuts I have made over the years and I have no idea what it is or why I want it, so I would like to uninstall it but cannot find anything on it anywhere.

RAM Drive, Other SSD As PS Scratch?
watching the hourglass spin on another batch (open 1GB file, downsample to 20MB, save as tif) I'm wondering if the use of a RAM drive like the I-ram (4GB PCI SSD or ?) as my primary PS scratch would speed up a process like this. I do a ton of this kind of stuff. Presently I'm using a 35GB 10k Ultra SCSI for scratch. Most of the time is spent on disk grinding as the Task Manager shows about a 7-35% processor hit at any given time and PS scratch remains @ around 1.7GB. Also, would it be faster to include a "purge all" step in a batch like this?

CS3 Re-Install: CD Drive Not Seeing CD
I am having problems with palettes disappearing and going blank and image windows going completely white. So, I have decided to do a fresh installation of CS3. I have uninstalled both CS2 and CS3 and I want to re-install just CS3. However, when I insert the CD in the drive nothing happens on the screen. If I browse to the drive, it asks me to insert a CD! ;-( The drive detects the CS2 no problem as well as any other CD I insert, but not the CS3 CD.

Adobe Output Module-Adobe Updater...
Product: CS4 64 bit: Adobe Output Module-Adobe updater downloads 2 updates 75.9mb (Camera Raw 5.3). After download and permission to continue under user account control, I receive popup menu advising me that Installation Incomplete, close Adobe Bridge - 3 choices, which always fail. My Adobe CS4 and Bridge are not open. I tried this several times with the same result.I downloaded the zip file, saved, unzip, and still get the same notice - close Bridge.

Best Hard Drive Setup?
I'm putting together a new system partly to run Photoshop, Bridge, and Camera Raw, and I have a question about the optimal hard drive configuration. Software is CS3 running on Windows XP Pro SP2. With three physical drives, I would probably do it like this: 1. 10k RPM - OS, programs 2. 10k RPM - ? 3. 7.2k RPM - Assets Where is the best place for the Windows page file and the Photoshop scratch disk? Or would I be better off going with four (less expensive) 7.2k RPM drives, in which case the OS/programs, page file, scratch disk, and assets could all have their own drives? Many thanks.

CS2 Installed But Drive Name Changed
My C Drive boot sector recently failed due to motherboard problems, causing me to have to install another hard drive to have an operating system to run. I am still using my old hard drive for data, only now it is renamed as my F drive. When I try to run PSCS2 off my F drive I get the message "Your Adobe Photoshop user name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid. The application cannot continue and must now exit." Adobe's website says I need to reinstall PS, BUT I cannot find my install disks! I have a legal copy of CS2 and I cannot find it after scouring the house and it's nooks and crannies. Does anyone know if there is a data or text file that I could go into behind the scenes to tell PS to point to the F drive instead of the C Drive? I did this for my Quickbooks software, but can't figure out if PS has such a capability.

Installing From External Hard Drive
My Dell laptop crashed about a year ago, and I was able to have the hard drive backed up to an external. I now need my PhotoShop CS which is on the external hard drive. I need to know how to install PhotoShop, and others in the creative suite, from the external drive. I am having a problem figuring out which files need to be installed first, i.e. .exe and .dll files. The hard drive is an iMicro 3.5" SATA and IDE HDD I am currently running Windows Vista, Gateway Notebook **I can not find the original Creative Suite cds; I think they may have been "accidentally" thrown away by someone other than myself.

Opening CS On My Portable Hard Drive....
I installed Photoshop on my portable hard drive in hopes that I can travel with it without the need for a laptop since I have a computer at home and work. I would like to use it at both. I get an error at work that says.... Memory could not be allocated for the activation process. Please close all applications and try again..... Hard Drive Damaged, Error Trying To...
The hard drive on my laptop is performing erratically and CHKDSK can't fix it, so it's time for a new drive. In preparation for the new drive, I tried to transfer activation of Photoshop CS2. I get the following error dialogue box message: "The application or DLL C:Program FilesAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS2Activationen_USalmuirsc.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." The only choice for this box is to click the OK button. When I do, I get the following message: "Sorry, a serious error has been detected. Disappearing Hard Drive Space
When I rebooted and reopen the program, it would not allow me to open my project giving me a scratch disk full error. I checked my hard drive and noticed I was down to around 6GB of free space which seemed odd given that I have a 55GB harddrive. So I deleted a bunch of huge multimedia files, freeing up an additional 6 or so GB. Again it ran fine for awhile, then froze. I checked again, down to 3GB. At this point photoshop was closed, so it should not be using any resources. I repeated the process - deleted 7GB of files, reopened photoshop and worked until it froze. When I rebooted, I was down to 2GB of free space. I have freed up a little more room now (6.71GB total) and I can open and work in photoshop. When I do, the harddrive space goes down to around 1-2GB, but when I close the program, it goes back up to 6.71 so clearly this is temporary usage. However, I'm afraid to actually use it because it might freeze again. That seems to be the problem - when it freezes, the scratch disk space that is occupied does not get freed up the way it would if I closed the program of my own accord. It now has approximately 15-20GB of space that is eaten up with nothing and I want it back.

Hard Disk Drive Intensive Programs...
I have a Dell D630 Latitude which has a Core 2 Duo processor, 2 gigs of RAM, a SATA HDD @ 7200 rpm, running win xp pro with sp2. I have Dreamweaver CS3, Photoshop CS3, Illustrator CS3, and Flash CS3 installed on it. I run all these programs at same time and now my hdd is about to go. This is going to be the first one on this system but on my previous system, I had to replace my hdd 3 times before I just changed systems. But it seems, I'm still having the same problem on my new system. The old system was an IBM Lenovo T60p with a Core Duo processor, 2 gigs of RAM, a SATA HDD @ 7200 rpm, running win xp pro with sp2.

Scratch Disk On External Hard Drive
I have photoshop CS2 on my desktop computer (XP). The hard drive is partitioned and I have photoshop scratch disk on its own partition (10GB). I have photoshop CS3 on my laptop (Vista Premium, 2GB ram). There is only one hard drive in the laptop. It is already partitioned into three - C drive: windows + programs, S drive: system files, X drive: recovery. My question is do I keep my scratch drive on the C drive or can/should I partition an external hard drive (250GB) and put my photoshop scratch disk on there? The external drive is via USB.

Hard Drive Space Going Mega Fast!
I have 2 hd`s one 160gb and one 15gb. my 15gb is down to just 98mb again. last week I cleard space for an extra 3gb and just a week later its down to 98mb again! Is windows saving files without me knowing? I only save work on my 160gb.

Set The Primary Scratch Volume To A Different Physical Drive?
I have opened Photoshop (7.0) I get a message on the lines of: - You currently have Photoshop's Primary Scratch & Windows paging file on the same volume which can result in reduced performance. It recommends that I should set the primary scratch volume to a different Physical Drive. I have looked at my preferences which I havent changed (not intentionally anyway) and the First Choice is set as Startup and the others have nothing set. I only have my C drive and am unsure how to Zone another area for a second choice. Is it as simple as setting a folder somewhere on the drive. (I have 14Gb free).

Loading Recovered PS Files After Hard Drive Meltdown
i have been able to recover most lost data and images, jpegs etc using a recovery program... BUT for some reason not all my photoshop images/files will load, others try to load but i get this error message come up "could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of photoshop"

Can Adobe PS CS4 Be Used For 3D
I know Adobe Photoshop Extended can be used for 3d modeling but can just the normal Adobe Photoshop CS4 be used in the same way because i dont feel like buying it for $1000 but I need Photoshop for my 3d models for texturing. So can the normal Photoshop be used the same way as the Extended can and will not make a difference?

using RAW (using Nikon NEF format), but I'm sure I've done with with no problem. I have an image that I've opened in the RAW editor and adjusted the white balance, and saved the change by clicking the "done" button. When I view the photo's thumbnail in Bridge, I see my chagnes, and the XMP file associated with the changes seem to be there (the xmp file is larger than the default). I can also see the changes when I open the image in the RAW editor again. When I open the image in CS2, however (either by right-clicking on the image and doing an "open with..." or by clikcing the "Open" button in the RAW editor), I see the original image. It's as if CS2 is not recognizing the XMP file.

Adobe Camera Raw - CPU Or RAM?
Please read the whole post, but if you want to cut to the chase, my question is: for ACR conversions would I be better off with an (Windows) 8-core system and 6gigs of ram, or a 4-core system and 12 gigs of ram? I am a professional photographer who, after upgrading to some equipment that spits out serious file sizes, needs to upgrade his computer system. I shoot almost exclusively RAW and I rely primarily on Adobe Camera Raw to convert my files and open them in photoshop. While photoshop performance is a consideration, my biggest concern is to be able to open ACR images ridiculously quick. Right now, working off 21 megapixel images on my current system, it takes between 10 - 20 seconds to open/convert a single file into photoshop. I'm aiming for a couple of seconds. My current system (please don't laugh ... I know its bad):XP 32-Bitdual-core 2.00GHz3G DDR2 Ram (with 3G switch enabled)5400 rpm Hard DrivesRunning CS4 and ACR 5.3 Future Set Up Considerations:Vista 64-BitProcessor/RAMa) quad-core-Q9600 3.00 GHz with 8 gigs DDR2 (1150MHz)b) i7-920 2.66 GHz with 12 gigs of DDR3 (1600 MHz) - adds about $500 to price - worth it? c) 2 Xeon-quad-core-5530 2.40 GHz with 6gigs DDR3 (1600Mhz) - adds about $1000 to price - worth it?d) something AMD?!?!Hard Drives (7200rpm)2 for images storage (one as an internal backup)1 For operating system, applications, music, etc1 For scratch disk Basically, the question comes down to whether extra cores or extra ram will ultimately make the biggest difference in the ACR performance During my testing on my (sad) currently system, here are my conclusions (let me know what you think):Changing the 3G switch to allow the jump from 2 to 3 gigs of ram usage for applications makes no difference in performanceWhen I am opening up ACR files both cores show 100% usage (will that continue over 4 or 8 cores?)Photoshop in general seems to be more CPU limited in my case than ram limited (most of the time is says 100% efficiency but things still take bloody long From some more experienced users, or users who have quad or octa core system or systems with insane amount of ram, I woudl really appreciate your feedback!

Error 147:20 - Adobe
I recently received this error message after downloading the standard Adobe CS4 for windows trail from here at adobe.com. The installation completes and after launching CS4 I receive this message. "This product has has encountered a problem which requires that you restart your computer before it can be launched. If you continue to see this message after restarting your computer, please contact either your IT adminastrator or Adobe technical support for help, and mention this error code shown at the bottom of this screen. Error: 147:20 I'm unsure of what the root of this error exactly is, I tried looking through forums, calling adobe, and even searching the internets but I cannot find any help whatsoever. I restarted my computer various times, uninstalled and reinstalled and nothing... In addition, the download came with other programs such as "Adobe Media Encoder CS4" and "Adobe Extension Manager CS4" but when I launch those as well it gives me the same exact error message as stated above.

Cintiq 12, And Adobe PS & AI
the pointer may or may not move anywhere from full screen to micro movements. ie: hit the cintiq calibrate, the pointers fine, go to AI or PS, and the pointer is anywhere from on the money, to 4 inches to the left, and vertical movement is nearly non - existent. Thing is it's doing the same stuff in both apps. I deleted the cintiq settings, deleted the PS settings, haven't found a way to reset AI's settings. Any actual commands in either adobe app must be done with the mouse.

Keeps Sending Me To Adobe
when i Try to add a gradiant to a font it takes me to adobe help ? Does anyone have any idea why this is and sometimes it will also crash on me in the middle of my work. Adobe Bridge
Adobe Bridge and reading from three cd's worth of pics. As you can see from the attached screen shot, I'm getting strange posterization. Sometimes the thumbnail is posterized and opens correctly, sometimes the thumbnail is good, but opens up in ACR posterized, sometimes the thumbnail and image open correctly, and sometimes they're both posterized. I've cleared the cache several times. My verson of Bridge is up-to-date.

I am using the Classroom in a Book tutorial and have the following problems. I am using Windows XP Home Edition. 1. When I copy the Lessons to my hard drive they are a read-only file and I cannot apply another attribute. 2. When I try to open the Lessons in Adobe Bridge from the CD but will not open. It gives me a message "No items to display with current document kind filter". I can see the files in the left pane and the folders in the roght pane but nothing will open. 3. I have been able to do a workaround by using Widows Explorer, double click on the lesson and it will open in PS CS2 but it will not open in Bridge.

Adobe Acrobat Not Seeing TTF
I have installed a .TTF on my Windows 2000 machine. I know it is there because I can see it in the HTML browser. But Acrobat 7 does not recognize it. (It replaces the font with another). Does anyone know how to resolve this problem?

Adobe 6.0 And Pagemaker
I don't have the pagemaker program so I am unable to figure this out for myself. I have a few inmates that work on the prison newspaper, and they are having problems with bringing a picture into pagemaker, and trying to match up colors. If anyone can help that's cool. I tried a few different things with the time I had, but none of them worked. Problem: We brought in a picture from Adobe Photoshop 6.0 with the background pantone color of 117 into a document with the same pantone color. The problem is that both colors are correct but they don't match when both placed into pagemaker. It's kind of weird to say the least, but if somebody could shed a little light on the subject that would be great. I would have examples, but it's on another computer locked behind doors I can't get into right now.
