Canvas Size Question
I have a strange problem when i send my photo i created with photoshop to a company to make a print.
In photoshop i create a canvas with the size of 20x30 (300ppi). I put some photo's on it so it fit almost the hole canvas. Than i have a little space for a nice border around it. Finished. Send it to a company and when i receive the photo i check the size of it. It is exactly 20x30, so that is not the problem.
The problem is that i now miss some peace of my border. So if i wanna keep the border i have to send a photo with a canvas size around 19x29.

Canvas Size + Resolution= File Size?
Can someone please explain to me about file sizes and image dimensions. I have to put together a collage which is 165mm high by 258mm wide. If I click file new and choose default resolution (72) then the file size is ok, if I type in 300 dpi the image becomes huge. If i chosse 300 dpi then the images I was going to use seem tiny on such a vast workspace - Im confused why does the canvas become so large when changing resolution?

Image Size, Canvas Size...
I have a created a new PSD that is 8 1/2 x 11.The canvas size is the same 8 1/2 x 11.I want to put a border around the picture (say 1/2 of an inch all around), and put the finished picture in a Picture frame. After it is in the frame, you would be able to see the entire picture plus the border. Q. Should I change (reduce image size) of the PSD to (for this example), 8 x 10 1/2.     Then increase the canvas size to 8 1/2 x 11. After I increased the canvas size, do a Paint Bucket fill with white (to create the White border)? then print the changed size PSD on 8 1/2 x 11 paper so that it will fit into a 8 1/2 x 11 picture frame I realize I could have just created the new PSD to be 8 x 10 1/2 in the first place.

Canvas Size Bug
I was trying to add 5mm around the canvas, when i noticed something strange. I changed the measurement to cm, then added 1cm to each, Height and Width, then changed the Width measurement to mm (which changed both displays to mm) but only one of the setting changed to mm; the height still had the same value it had when displayed in cm. This only happens when both Height and Width are changed.

Canvas Size For Web Page
I need to design my first template using photoshop. the content area of the web site will be 980px ( width ) .. I like to add border to each side ( left and right ) .. i seen many sits using background image that spans the entire screen and has left and right boarder added to the background , which effectively looks like border on each side of content area. however, i was not able to figure what would be the best canvas size for this . as each site i looked at , background was set to different size .. my main content will be in center of the monitor .

Currently, i cant have my canvas over 30k X 30K pixels, and the only way for me to fit the entire project as one file is to drastically lower my image DPI. is there any way i can change photoshop's canvas limitation?

How To Reveal All Without Changing Canvas Size?
how do you reveal all layers in a photoshop document without changing the actual canvas size (to enable you to see layers larger than the canvas size)? Because with the Image -> Reveal All Command it just expands the canvas size, and the only way I know to reverse this is to press Undo, which doesn't work if you want to undo it 10 stages down the line. I've tried the Image -> Trim command but that simply trims the canvas to the visible pixels, so would either chop off information or leave the canvas too large (both unsuitable).

Decrease Canvas Size By Removing The Middle?
Is it possible to reduce canvas size by removing a set width or height to be removed from the center of the image? Here is an example situation. I have a graphic that I use for rounded corner effects in a website. For border and shading reasons, I am using images that span the whole width of the element, not using individual corner images. So, my image would look something like this: :.__________.: (bottom.gif, let's call it) I've had to create a number of these images in varying widths, based on whatever element it is to accent. What I'd like to do is have my base PSD image be, say, 1000 pixels wide, and when I need to create a graphic that is 200px wide, I would just remove 800px of width from canvas, but from the center, and have the sides collapse in together.

Panoramic Image/canvas/print Size ?
I have a Epson R2880 and want to print a series of panoramic prints on it, i have set up the print to be 8x24 inches. When I open the panoramic and give it the size of the paper, CS3 automatically resizes the print, so if i set the image to 8x24 the height of the actual picture is either 8x40 or 3.78x24 .... is there a way to get a real 8x24 print or will CS3 always resize to a fixed set of dimensions ?

Image Size Related To Print Size
I'm using Photoshop 7. I create a new document 8.5 x 11 inches at 150 pixels per inch. I draw a circle 1" from the top of the image. The circle is 3" in radius. When I print the circle is nearly .25" smaller in radius and slightly less than 1" from the top. Why is the output not in the same placement and proportions as the image on the screen?

Invisable Canvas
I just cut an object out of a picture and copied it to a new canvas. The object was not rectangular so I had some canvas showing. I'm not even sure how I did it, but I was able to find the command to turn the canvas clear, which is what I wanted. After I saved and exited, I placed that file into an InDesign document but the canvas was showing up white, not clear.

Scale To Canvas?
Is there a command that will let me scale an image to the canvas? I am importing a lot of images into PS and need them to be 600x600 or less. having to use transform on every one is very time consuming. I believe I have seen a command in photoshop called fit to canvas... not sure though any solution? I have also tried batch image resizers but we are pulling the images off the internet and it takes too long to save the files with the correct image name etc... if i could find a command in PS that would just resize the image to the size of the canvas it.

Can't Rotate The Canvas
I'm using PSCS and I can't get the entire canvas to rotate 90 degrees or flip vertically or horizontally (see attached screen shot). In fact Edit>Transform is dimmed unless I Select All, but then I lose part of the image unless I stop, make a bigger canvas, select all, rotate and deselect. Another workaround is, I can make the background layer into an O layer and then I can flip and rotate, but again, only the image moves, not the canvas. I used to be able to do it but not since I re-installed PSCS.

Canvas Texture
I have been using the action Hayes Island Variant on a couple of my photos, it makes them look like they are painted on canvas. The problem is that it uses the built-in Photoshop texturizer for sandstone and canvas, and in the more open areas like water and sky, you can see a repeating square pattern. I printed it out on glossy paper, and you can definitely see it. I want to get this blown up on a poster. Any suggestions on another canvas texture that doesn't look like this, or some other way to fix it?

Working Size Vs. Print Size
The rule of thumb for traditional illustration work is to do the original about 1/3 larger than it will be printed to allow for some tightening up. My question is, when working in photoshop at 300 dpi, is there any reason to work larger than the print size?

Poster Size & Paper Size

Hopefully someone could help me out and I would greatly appreciate it. Even if you can only answer one, I will still greatly appreciate it. 1. What would be the coordinates if you want to make a Poster? 2. How about a full paper. What size does the Photoshop picture got to be to fit a piece of paper perfectly? 3. How about DVD covers? Either just the front or the front and the back.

Image Size Vs File Size
When I save a file to jpeg the image size in photoshop remains the same as it was as a tiff file BUT according to the information that comes up in windows properties the file is much smaller (300k vs 2.9mg).  Can you advise me which is the correct file size?  If the correct size is the one showing in windows (300K) does mean that the file compressed in JPG and lost a lot of information?  and if this is the case how can I prevent that from happening and still save the file as a JPG?  [ I would like the image to remain the size photoshop shows it to be] . Thank you very much.

Canvas Resize Anchor
I have Version 10.0.1 and up to two days ago I could select resize canvas, change the pixels, select the appropriate anchor and all went well. Now, for some reason I can no longer select an anchor point. Absolutely nothing happens if I click on one of the arrows. I have checked Image mode and it is RGB 8bit. I have gone through all of the settings I can think of and no luck. I cannot remember making any change that would affect this function but apparently I did. I doubt the program just decided to quit. My OS is XP Pro but that hasn't changed. Nothing has that I can think of Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get this to function again?

Extended Canvas Issue?
I got photoshop cs4 extended with vista, and for some reason when i create a new .psd or if i import another .psd something really strange happens... the canvas has triangles on it and it deforms my pictures... the background itself is fine because if i want to move it around it look fine, it is just the canvas that deforms it. there is also black or white triangles that stay on top of my image and i can't do anything about it... i will try to add some pictures for you guys to see... one strange this is that when i save the image those triangles are not on the saved image...this is a good thing, but still a problem since i cannot work on anything.. i tried reinstalling it, but the problem is still there... I is a brand new computer that i bought on sunday with 4GB of ram, so i dont htink this is the problem...

Pixels On Edge Of Canvas
It occurs on all canvas size, small to large. Alot of the pixels across the bottom and up and down the right side basicaly arn't working. For example I take the pencil too and attempt to fill a singel pixel on the bottom of teh canvas. The history records the use of the pencil tool but nothing appears on the canvas. The same is for the marquee tool. If I go a few pixels above the bottom row and select by draging down it will go to the bottom. But if I try to only select the bottom row the marquee outline does not appear and I am told no pixels were selected. However when I use the fill too those same pixels along the bottom and up the right side are filled. After becoming extreamly agrivated and going nuts with the pencil tool I noticed that if I hold it down and and slide it toward one of the pixels I can eventualy get it, but only after penciling the surring 60 or so pixels. I have restared photo shop 4 times with no luck. I'm not drawing on the background layer and the color i'm using is not the same as a color below it.

Canvas, Resolution And Printing
If I make the resolution of a photoshop document canvas 300 PPI (pixels per inch), will it still print out at the original dimensions I set the canvas to? I am asking because I tried a target canvas size of 594mm width by 841mm height on two separate photoshop documents, one at 300 PPI and the other at 72 PPI and it resulted in a huge size difference between the two documents targeted at the same image size. I want to know if they will print at 594mm x 841mm regardless of resolution.

Two Seperate Pics Together On One Canvas
I'm going prematurely grey over it. Here's what I've done so far.I've opened the two files for the pics I want. One is for the backgound image the other has a quick mask I've applied for the foreground. I opened a new file and enlarged the canvas size. Then tried to drop & drag the background image into the new canvas. That doesn't work. However when I drop & drag the one with the qick mask it will co-opertate but the pic grows far too large in the new canvas.

Multiple Images On One Canvas.
There is a well known Photography studio chain that takes pictures in a white room and produces a multiple image canvas, which it frames and sells to you at an extortionate cost. Is there any easy way of producing the same result with Photoshop ? I have experimented with layers, but getting the pictures lined up in the right position has proved problematical. Ideally I'd like someone to tell me that there is a utility or plugin that allows you to create a canves, drag and drop, resize, add borders/effects and edit picture onto a grid, resulting in a professional finish.

Canvas Artifact Preview , CS3
When I open up, let's say a picture of a cat, of ordinary size (10x 10cm) and above in Photoshop CS3, I get some strange squarelike artifacts that disappears momentarely when i move my cursor over it. I've added a link to the picture to illustrate my problem. What i can't figure out is when these artifacts occur I'm able to save the image in, let's say .Jpg, and the jpg records the box-artifacts into my final version (se link). I also get strange results while zooming in and out on canvas causing the image to change the box-artifacts into diffrent patterns. Iv'e tried to update my drivers reagarding every graphical components in my computer but nothing seems to work. I've played with various settings in PShop but nothing changes. My system info: Photoshop CS3 Amd 64 X2Core 3.0Ghz, 2GB Ram Win Xp Servicepack 3 Ati Radeon HD 2900 pro Directx 10
