Colors Do Not Print Correctly With Epson

I am using the Adobe Master Collection CS4, and use an Epson RX650 printer, but for the life of me I cannot get Photoshop to print what is on the screen. The prints are dark, and no where near the ones on the screen.  I am using genuine Epson Ink, and Premium glossy paper, so as to remove this issue, is this a case of my screen needing to be calibrated? I have considered buying the Spyde Studio calibrator to ensure that this is correct, (do I need to?) and I have read as much as I can about setting up Adobe to manage the print settings and colours, but still no luck. My current settings are as follows In Adobe Bridge, my creative suit color settings are set to Europe General Purpose 2The in Adobe Photoshop (version 11.0.1) I am selecting under colour management, Document Adoby RGB (1998), Photoshop handles colours, Printer profile is Epson sRGB Colour Space, Rendering intent is Relative Colourimetric, and I have ticked the following boxs, Blackpoint compensation, Match print colours, Gamut warning and Show paper white.

Make CS4 Print Colors Correctly?
I'm using Photoshop CS4 on Windows XP, printing to an Epson Photo Stylus R200 printer. I've tried various settings: Photoshop manages color, Printer manages color, Photo, Photo and Text, Text, and so forth. No matter which settings I try, the colors turn out too dark and do not match or even come close to the colors on my monitor.

I tried printing the exact same file using Photoshop CS3, with the Photoshop manages color setting, and the print turned out great.

What has changed in Photoshop CS4 that is different from CS3 -- and more importantly, how can I make Photoshop CS4 print colors correctly?

How To Correctly Use Spot Colors
Using CS2, I've created one of those swooshy Macintosh Panther wallpaper images, with various layers of sweeping lines and tinted gradient arcs.

Now I want to create the image using just tints of pantone 519 but I'm unsure of how to work with pantone colours in photoshop. I've pulled up the solid coated pantone library and located the swatch, but how do I specify various tints of this colour?

I've searched the forum and come across spot channels, and have read the photoshop help entry on this, but still can't understand how to do it. From what I've read, I make a selection, then create a spot channel of the colour and set the solidity to 100%. If I want an 80% tint, I just adjust the solidity to 80%. Is this correct, or is the solidity more like transparency than tint?

In addition, how do I create a gradient between these two colours?

Final question - I have an element I want to import from Illustrator that uses the same spot colour. Do I have to deal with this any differently to the normal copy and paste as a smart object?

CS3 - Epson 9800 Print
I have a problem with CS3... When I want to print a 100x300cm or longer banner with Epson 9800 the print preview of Epson doesn't show the complete document. A1 to B0 jobs has no problem. At the print preview 1/3 or 1/4 of the banner is blank...With CS2 there is no problem.

I install the updates for CS3 but problem is still on.

I sellected the PDF printer as default.(I read this in a forum)

I have 2 9800, 1 9880 and 5 4800 on a network...

With CS3: If I save the banner in PSD, PDF, JPEG, TIF format doesn't matter. Same problem.

I try the job on Corel X3 as JPEG it doesn't read anything on some PC's, the print preview is blank. Some PC's read the document with Corel X3.

I think I have to go back to CS2.......

Print Preview Colors Don't Match Work Window + Print Sizes
So I am working on this document and it has silver background. I go to print preview (Photoshop cs3 and cs4 on Vista) and I get color looking more like bronze looking but when I do print, it comes out just like it should (in working mode which is Monitor RGB with Proof colors checked).

This setting is the only one I've used to make sure image/psd looks exactly like what it should when printing. I tried the default Working CMYK with and without Proof colors but it's still showing me the bronze look instead of silver. I've looked on the net and no exact easy fix for this was found. I really really appreciate any help.

Another simple question is regarding size. I'm working on a document size of 17.5 x 8.7 inches and the actual Banners will be printed at size 175 x 87 inches (5 banners each at 35inch wide but combined into a big one). So essentially, I'm working at 10% the size of what the final print will be and my file size is 760mgs. You can only imagine how big the file would be if I work on the actual size.

Print Colors Different
Hello! I am using Photoshop CS4 and I have a Canon Pixma MP160 printer. I go through a company, GotPrint.com, to print all my brochures and business cards but it seems what I send them is never what actually prints out. I understand that LCD monitors show a different display, being RGB instead of CMYK?? but how do I match it close enough? I have been trying to print out my new brochure on my printer at home until I get it to print the colors I want - but it's a huge hassle & a major ink cost changing all the colors (mostly brown for some reason) to look good printed even though it looks terrible in photoshop. I've tried setting it in the print window to Photoshop Manages Color instead of printer. In the profile drop down I was told to select one with my printer name in it instead of working CMYK profile. But I have about 10 different ones and none of them say CMYK or anything special. Can anybody point me in the right direction to learn the best way to do this?

Brush Icon Not Displaying Correctly
I just installed CS4 on a lovely new Dell notebook with WUXGA display (1920x1200) and am having a problem that I have never seen before. When the brush tip is small (up to 35 px at 100%)  I see the entire circle defining it, but as I move into larger and larger tip sizes the circle starts to disappear from the bottom right, becoming just a smaller and smaller circular fragment until it disappears entirely at around 300 px. If I select the center crosshair, this also disappears around 200px (when only a small circular crescent is left), and then reappears at around 400px (minus any trace of the circle). It is obviously some sort of display issue: if I change the image size the behavior is the same when the circle is the same size onscreen, so it is the display size and not the absolute pixel size which determines it. This happens whether I choose normal or full-size tip. Has anyone experienced this? It is not only annoying, it is positively serious, since at certain sizes I cannot even tell where or how large the brush is. Clear type on or off makes no difference. I have not noticed any odd display behavior with any other program.

How To Join Template And Picture Correctly?
I do book cover design use action script. There is basic PSD template, which has high resolution 300dpi and large image dimens. 2200 x 1450). I should insert a picture which has much lower resolution 96dpi and smaller size 430 x 640 pix. I need that this picture covered full area, i.e. had the same size as a front cover (at least same height). If I just copy and paste this picture it have very small size due different resolution and dimensions. If I just lower the resolution and dimensions of a PSD template to correspond my picture, this gives error when action script run (in Step2), and also it is inconvenient to work with small template. How to join template and picture correctly?

Error :: Could Not Print Because Of A Problem Writing The Print File
I'm having trouble printing in Photoshop CS2. Rregardless of which printer I try to print to, I get the message "Could not print because of a problem writing the print file". I have never encountered this error before.

The psd file I am printing is a wall banner, and is quite large (~200MB). It contains elements copied/pasted as pixels from Illustrator CS2. However even if I flatten the file, or save as a flattened tif, I still get the same error message.

Thinking that the psd file is corrupted, I tried printing an earlier version of the file, with no luck. I've even tried printing other, small unrelated files, and can't print those either. Even after rebooting the computer.

The computer I'm using has a dual core processor, 4GB RAM, a decent graphics card and is running under XP. I have gob-loads of HD space and also use a scratch disk.

I really only want to print the file myself as a proof. However, I'm concerned that the banner printers won't be able to print the file either.

I then upgraded my driver again and it doesn't work. I've opened jpg's as well as psd files and no matter what file I open the Print menu's are greyed out. I can print from Word and other programs. I also reset my preferences (con-alt-shift) and still can't select print. I've done everything but uninstall. I'm hoping not to do that. My computer is on: Vista Ultimate 32 bit SP1, 4gb ram. In addition to updating the print driver and graphics driver I updated: Ultimate Extra Sounds, Group Policy Preference Client Side Extensions, Samsung CLP-310 Printer driver, and Microsoft Tinker.

Epson P.I.M. II Plug-in V2.2 Install...
I am using a trial version of CS4 that I just downloaded & installed (works fine).  I tried installing Epson's ICC color profile for the 1280 printer with the P.I.M. II Plug-in v2.2 installer from the Epson website (http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/supDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes&oid= 14387&prodoid=28907797&infoType=Downloads&platform=All).

It doesn't install and gives the following error:"Adobe Photoshop 6.0/7.0/CS or Photoshop Elements 1.0/2.0/3.0 was not found on your computer. The plugin was not installed." Has anyone else encountered this?  Epson tech support was no help ("...Call Adobe").

Q: Does this error happen with the full CS4 version (not just the trial?)

Q: Perhaps CS4 includes the Epson ICC's with no separate installation of Epson software?  If I select print from CS4, there is a Epson Stylus Photo 1280 available in the Printer Profile drop down. I wonder if I am missing anything by not being able to install the PIM ICC profil?

When printing large images (i.e. 36x60) a portion of the image would be missing at the bottom (blank) The 10.01 update addressed this issue but it seems not completely. Checking this "Finest Detail" check box reproduces the problem.

Photoshop CS3 And Epson Printer

I tried different combinations and permutations of settings to no avail. Now I work on CS3 on the image, save it, and print it on CS2 which I kept on my computer, and has no problems printing. Can you please keep this as an on-going problem, since it has not been solved yet? Any feedback on this? Epson 4870 On Vista With CS3
I have an Epson 4870 scanner which I'm using with my Vista Home Premium (32 bit)software. When I first installed it, it worked fine. However, some update came along and made that a thing of the past. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling. (The drivers are said to be Vista compatible, and they were for a while) I've searched the forum and Googled, but the only new advice I've seen is to turn off the Vista UAC or whatever, which opens the computer to security risks. Even with UAC off, it still doesn't work. I've considered getting a V700 or V750, but the reviews I've read don't show a significant difference in quality over the 4870, and I don't have enough 8x10 transparencies to warrant purchasing for that alone. I've also uninstalled and reinstalled CS3, trashed preferences, jumped over the moon while spinning counterclockwise, etc.

Epson Printer Problems While Using

When I go to print, however, the only options are Matte and Photo papers. The sizes listed are A4, 5x6, 4x7, 3.5x5, 8x10, and Panoramic.

The picture will print on the paper, but it will not take up the whole page. Borderless is checked, so this is not the problem. The problem is the set paper size.

How do I print a full page 8.5x11 on plain paper through Photoshop on the Epson R800?

In the past, what I saw on screen was extremely close to the printed results.

I just started printing again, with CS3, and though the prints look fine on the monitor, when viewed in CS3's Print Dialog with "Match Print Colors" / Soft Proof selected, the image not only turns much darker, but there is absolutely no hint of highlight "pop" left----Even the effect of sharpening disappears. The white borders even turn to a dull, bluish gray & the entire image assumes a dark, flat, dull appearance, and that's the way it prints!

This occurs with image files that have printed fine previously, and have not been altered in any way.

Printing To Epson 4000 Printer
I just bought a new 4000 printer and the prints come out a little darker and with a little more magenta than what appears on my monitor.

The monitor has been calibrated using the spider software several times and each time it comes out the the same and I think that part of the process is good.

I have set my color workspace in Photoshop to US press defelts (Adobe 1998) and all seems well there.

The images have been scanned to 8000dpi using a High quality scanner from an outside source.

I open the image and convert to working space RGB, and do my correction to the image which includes more color saturation.

I go to print the image using Adobe1998 as source and the printer paper ICC as the output. I go to advanced options and make sure color correction are turned OFF and print.
The images on my printer always come out darker and with more magenta that what I see on the screen no matter what Icc profile I use for every kind of paper.

The softproof does not look that way.

When I print using same as source as the output with color correction sliders set to 0 the print will be much closer but still not quite like whats on the screen.

When I do it the correct way(the first way I discribed) why is my print comming out too dark and too much magenta?
