Convert Low Resolution Image To High Resolution
I am a Photoshop newbie and I have a series of graphics (all 72dpi from a website) that I would like to print in 300dpi. Is it possible to take a 72dpi .jpeg or .gif file and easily convert it to a higher resolution printable graphic? If Photoshop can't do it, is there any type of program that can?

Keeping High Resolution At Smaller Image Size!
i have a client who needs a big image (2000x2830) resizing to 595x842 and saving to a .pdf file and still keeping its high quality resolution even when its zoomed in on. So far i have resized the image (just using IMAGE-IMAGE SIZE and put in the numbers 595x842) but it has lost its quality when zoomed in although it does look good at 100% but i need it to look good even at 500-600%.

From Low To High Resolution
I created a graphic to use on the web (72 dpi), client called and now they want to print it postcard size so they can mail it out. The Original image is 480 x 611. Most of it is just text and a few rectangle marquee boxes to give color. There are three pictures used. What's the quickest way to replicate this? can I just create a new document at 300dpi and drag all my layers(except the pictures) into it from the low res one or do I have to recreate everything?

High Dynamic Resolution (HDR)
First off, Im a bit new to photoshop and to HDR's. I use an iMac and I have photoshop CS4. I have completed a few HDR's with only one or two looking decent. However, the "successful" attempts were made with 3-9 different images at different exposures. Im desperately trying to figure out how to create an HDR based of ONE image. I know it can be done, I just don't know how. Ive tried brightness and contrast, Ive tried levels ... and Ive even tried exposure settings ... the only thing with the exposure settings is that I HAVE NO IDEA how to work them. Can someone point me in the right direction? How to manipulate the exposure so that I can create 3-5 "differently" exposed images based on that 1 image.

High Resolution PDF Gets Striped
Well, now to my Q. My wife works in a print shop and she has been working with PS for a few months. And now she stumbled upon a problem. As the heroic husband I am I promised to help her out. Now, gathering the forces of good I hope for a happy end...(yes I just saw the Incredibles) She creates a gradient from 0% black to 100% black. The area is an A4 (210x297 mm). When she save this image as a high-resolution PDF the gradient gets striped. Both when viewed and when sent to the rip. Are there any secrets yet to be revealed about the PDF export?

CS4 With A High Resolution Screen
I am running CS4 on an 8 processor, 3 GHz machine with an nvidia fx3700 and a screen that offers 2600 x 1900 resolution. With all this power, the package is much slower than CS3 on a lap top. One can actually see the action of one's paintbrush trailing centimetres behind the cursor. Well, we can perhaps live with this, with the leaping menu bar and the many other oddities until Adobe fix the thing. However, what isa truly hard to accept is that it is impossible to resize the tool icons, symbols on the tool bars, silly menu stud-type things of floating menu items so as to allow work at high resolution. Drop down menus follow what we have told Windows to apply, and are thus legible. Anything in the application GUI is, however, invisibly small at 2600 x 1900, Even MS Office 2000 - ten years old - allows you to resize the icons and tools, for heavens sake, but it appears that a modern package that is aimed explicitly at people who work with images cannot do so. It all seems deeply retrograde, an instance where 'new' equals 'worse'. Perhaps I have missed something: so does anyone know how to resize the various menus and tools so that they can be read without a magnifying glass?

Scratch Disks On High Resolution
I am creating an extremely large file to be printed @ over 20 feet long. I've been in touch with the printer who told me that my original file, at 1/4 scale and 100 DPI was not high enough resolution, 1/4 would have to be 400 PPI, which is where I am now.

Forum Oddity, W.r.t High Resolution...
I started a thread on Windows/ Photoshop entitled "CS4 with a high resolution screen". People have replied to this, according to e-mail direct response. However, it is not on the list of forums, and neither does it appear on 'search'. To repeat: we have a high resolution HP LP 3065 screen, which supports up to 2560 x 1600 pixels. At this resolution, images are still less than print size, but CS4 is essentially unusable because the menu text and other icons do not scale. Does anyone know if it is possible to manage this silly interface to allow the user to see what they are doing? Is there even a visual disability option? Even MS Office 2000 - ten years old - allows "large icons".

Tile Printing With High Resolution Printing?
i have an image that is 28' wide by 60' high. i have to tile print it, but i have to print it out on film (see thru acetate). it has to be able to print at 1400 dpi. i know how to print at 1400 dpi on adobe photoshop, but i dont know how to tile print on that program. i have the image now in illusrtator, because it lets me tile, but i cant get it to print out for film (1400 dpi). im using a epson 1280 printer. i really need to be able to tile print this in high resolution on film. anyone know what i can do??

Image Resolution?
I have recently started stock photography websites as I am interested in pursuing selling my photography as such. A few of the sites I was looking at had requirements of 300 dpi. I assumed my photos were okay because I have a Canon Digital Rebel, but when I looked at the resolution in Photoshop, it was only 180 dpi. Well - so here I go and do batch processing to 300 dpi, and yes - I did this to all of my photos. Thousands. It took me a week during my spare time. Now I'm reading online that one should never actually enlarge their images - or "rezz them up" to larger sizes by selecting the "resample" box. Well - I did select the resample box. I didn't know! My question is this: Have I ruined my photos? Can I go backward? Can I repeat the process by selecting 180 dpi (which is what they were to begin with) instead of the 300 dpi that I changed them to? Well, I guess I know that I "can" do that, but is it unrealistic to presume that the images will be back to normal?

Changing Resolution Of An Image
I have just started producing photo books, and I am very pleased with the results. But then I realised that I should have changed the resolution of the images I sent to the printing company from 72 dpi to 300 dpi. I have just sent another book with all the images changed to 300dpi which should be good. But ..... I didn't do anything with the "resampling" tick box - I just left it ticked (mainly cos I didn't understand it). Should I have unchecked the "resampling" tick box?

How Does One [Image Size Resolution]
I have been a Photoshop user since it was on floppy disk. Now I use CS2. My hobby is photography and Photoshop, of course, is a natural extention of that hobby. Despite all the years of using it I am anything but a master. Maybe a master of slow learning. I got a degree in that. Currently I am assembling sport collages and therein lies the rub. Firstly, I work in jpeg. Everytime, no matter what I set my target size to (the frame) when I drag a photo in, it seemingly jumps to a larger size inside the frame. I am expecting it to be semi-locked at the size it is set to, normally 4 X 6, and maintained, relative to the frame, at that size when dragged to that frame. This latest frame is 24" X 36". I drag a 4 X 6 picture in it and it's bigger than the frame. How can I consistently constrain the picture size I drag in and what am I not understanding about this process?

Resolution/image Size?
I know it's wrtten down in black and white, and we have covered this before. I am mainly designing little hand out flyers printed on that thin, glossy, card board, 4 x5 flyers, and cd album covers. Is it safe to go with the color profile Adobe RGB (1998) setting? If not what is? When I create these projects do I create the canvas with the size I am printing out in? For instance 4.75" x 4.75", and I am not sure on the resolution to go with. The res always gets me. I read about it, and it doesn't click for me. It starts out with a default of 72, but when I view as print size it looks smaller on screen. I am doing a big project for a big Minnesota band, and I don't want to mess it up. Especialy dropping in font so it doesn't look "pixly", shrinking photos so they don't lose quality is another one I haven't mastered yet. I have 4 days after tomorrow to complete this project. It's all from scratch except for the font which they are putting on disk for me. Little time to research, so I am asking for a huge favor. I want to make a good impression. This is my ticket for a free billboard.

Change Resolution Of Image
I'm using CS3 and I'm putting together a small magazine. The printer who will be doing the printing insists that all images are 300 dpi, however, some of the images people have sent me to insert in the magazine are only 120 dpi. If I manually change it to 300 dpi in the Image Size dialogue box in Photoshop, does it actually increase the resolution? I was of the opinion that the original image has to be 300dpi and that it wasn't possible to alter it, but now I'm not sure.

I couldn't find this question anywhere else, but I can't be the only one who's come across this: I have an image in a folder...finder/explorer tells me that it's 638px X 479px, and 234KB. I open it in Photoshop and go to Image Size. PS says it is indeed 638x479pixels, but that it's 5.4" x 4.06" at 300pp and the "pixel dimensions" add up to 895KB? (Then, when I place it in InDesign, at 100%, it measures around 2.1" x 1.6"? What's going on? If I input those dimensions into the Image Size dialogue box in PS, without resampling, it would have to be 750.25ppi. Obviously it's not.)

Image Size And Resolution
I've noticed that when I open a jpeg file on Photoshop CS2 from my computer the files will open with different resolutions e.g. 72 ppi, 180ppi, or 300ppi. even when they are from the same camera set to the same compression i.e. superfine, and large. Why does this happen and what can I do if anything to prevent this? Does it matter if the resolution is set to 72,180 or 300 if I have these photos downloaded to one of the online photo developers like Walmart or Walgreens.

I like to have images in 300 dpi resolution. I notice that, if I specify a certain size image, say, 11 x 14 at 180 dpi, it prints out a different size than 300 dpi although the length and width are showing up the same .... 11 x 14. I've never really understood the correlation between dpi and resolution.

I have been asked to make a postcard, but the problem is I have only ever used Photoshop for web images, ie at 72 dpi. I was wondering, what resolution do I have to use for print materials? 300 dpi? Also, if I have an image taken from a website can I just put it in photoshop and change the resolution to 300 dpi, then use it in a print project? Is such a thing workable? Text Tool [Image Resolution]
i have photoshop cs2, and everything was fine until last night when mysteriously the sizing options for my text tool got seriously knocked out of whack. any normal-sized font pt just doesn't show up at all (it's so small you can't see anything). 1296 pt (the largest you can go) shows up, but still smaller than any normal 8-72 pt.

Enhancing Image Quality Resolution
I have a couple or three (probably more) small-ish sized images that have crappy quality (they're grainy/noisy-ish and whatnot y'know). My question is: in general, what would be the best way to enlarge the photo, make it look smooth, and more/less "professional quality" without losing any color? I know whichever method of doing this would require playing around with the settings in each step with each picture.

Batch Process Makes Image Resolution...
In my work I use a batch process to run an action that converts EPS files to TIFF files. I have been using this successfully in Photoshop 7 on a Win2000 PC for a number of years. The process is as follows... Open EPS file Flatten Image Save Close When I recorded the action I made sure that the resolution was set to 300dpi as we require the TIFF produced at the end to be that resolution. I am now testing PSCS3 on a WinXP machine as we are upgrading all of our equipment. When I run the action as a batch process the TIFFs that are saved end up being 72dpi - They should be 300dpi. This worked in PS7 on the Win2000 machine and I am using exactly the same process in PSCS3 on the new WinXP machine, but something must be going wrong somewhere for the TIFFs to be saved at 72dpi instead of the required 300dpi. Any ideas?

Best Resolution?
I am going to edit the photos from Photoshop CS3 Extended at the highest possible Resolution so the photos look amazing when printed from a normal printer or at a proper photo lab. What is the highest possible resolution I could use on the photos without making them look all pixelated (or what ever it looks like) when printed? I was told by a friend that 300 pixels/inch would yield better but is it possible I could go higher?

I'm preparing some images for stock they are all now 50mb tiff files about, 5000x 3000 pixels more or less. In the resolution box, the ones scanned by nikon film scanner are 4000. the ones shot digitally converted by Camera Raw are 240. And then I have a few from some Large jpegs that are 72. Does any of this matter? ie, what it says in the resolution box?

Default Resolution?
For some reason whenever i open up an image it seems to default that image to 240 resolution. I can't figure out why! Even if i output an image with 72 res, and reopen it, it'll go back to 240! Any ideas on what the heck could be going on guys?

Resolution Settings In PS 6
try to record those steps for action: Image>Image Size --> then change the resolution (a lower res p.e. 50dpi from a 300dpi pic) but want to keep checked the other setings (Constrain porportions and resample image) and click OK --> and stop recording the action keeps the height you have as result from your first (recording) pic !!! and make the next time you use the action all the pics the same height.

Resolution VS Size
A friend took a digital photo with his camera best quality, tiff, and PS showed it had a 72 dpi resolution but a big size: about 70 x 60 cm. (I don't remember the pixels size but it looked high). I thought the resolution was very low for obtaining a good print but it can be printed with good quality at a 16 x 20 in size. Which is the equivalences between resolution, image size and pixels size? How you convert one mesure to another? Can I forget about resolution and care only about pixels size?

Resolution Puzzler
I have a 120dpi image (image1) that needs to be 45 picas wide and 200 dpi. So I click off the Resample image button and type 200. This makes image1 a little over 40 picas wide. Not big enough. I thought I would try a different approach. I opened an image (Image2) that is already 200 dpi and 45 picas wide. When I drag image1 over to image2, my math tells me that image 2 would be smaller than image 1. But it's not! I have to scale the image down to the right size.

CS3 - New Monitor & Resolution
i just upgraded to a 32" HDTV as my monitor. i originally connected the monitor with a DVI-I to VGA. only issue with thatwas that the resolution was limited to 1280x1024. but everything looked GREAT. i upgraded the connection to DVI-D to HDMI to get the increased resolution. i have set the resolution to 1920x1080. everything looks great . . . except in PS. if i look at an image in Bridge, it looks good. but when i open the SAME file in PS, it looks like it was WAAAAY oversharpened. i know it may be hard to know what i am describing without seeing it for yourself, unless you have encountered this issue before. but i am hopeful that someone here knows not only what the problem is, but what the solution is. thank you. jp in the event that this info might be of value, my Operating System is Windows XP Pro; 64xVideo display card / driver version: NVIDIA GeForce 7900 GT/GTO

Printing Resolution
I'm getting used to PS6, playing around with effects etc, but the one thing I struggle with is resolution. Every image I open is in 72dpi and although I know how to resize the image and change the resolution, it just doesn't seem to be right. What I want to do is 1) get the image into 300dpi print resolution and then 2) resize it for printing. Also, I know I'm restricted to the maximum size of print, depending on the megapixels of my camera, but are there any guidelines for this. I tend to take photos using a 3MP camera set to the finest setting.

Bad Resolution To Good
so i`ve scanned some pics, and simply used ps to crop them and when i`ve printed them off they`re quite pixilated, especially when they did`t seem that bad on the screen on ps. on the print set up the quality levels are all high photo quality level, so that should`nt be a problem. I`m just wondering what can be done to reduce the pixilation. is there an effect that`s good for this??
