Grey Transparent Overlay On Canvas
I'm using MacPro bootcamp with Vista. Dual screen with Graphic Card ATI X1900.Everytime I use the Full screen mode I get an overlaying grey transparent color covering the canvas. I have to restart the program to reset the display. Open GL on/off doesn't fix it either.I have tried updating card drivers and CS4. As far as I know it only happens in Photoshop and not the complete master collection.

Transparent Shadow Overlay Gradient
I have a webpage that has a gradient background that extends down the page at least 800 px and is set to repeat-x. I have an auto centerd column which has a background applied to it. The background is set to repeat-y. The center column has a dropshadow applied all the way around it. The problem is that I am not able to get the drop shadow to blend in with the gradient as the page grows. Initially at the top of the gradient where it, the gradient, is the darkest, the drop shadow blends in. But as the gradient moves down, i.e., becomes lighter, the drop shadow ceases to blend in any more. is it possible to solve this problem? If so then how?

When I installed PS7 today as it was starting up after the installation it came up with a problem with my monitor I ignored it because I didnt and still dont think it is/was the problem. The problem I have is well...pink. Everything is pink, many shades of pink, I can even get some dark purples but thats it I have no access to normal colors, even when I change the RGB settings.

Overlay Layer For DVD
I am working with DVDit pro 6.0 and I am trying figured out how to make a background menu and the overlay layer that goes with it. I am able to make an overlay layer with the following path: Layer/New/Layer and choosing Overlay in the Mode section. The thing that I don't understand is how to work with this Overlay layer . I understand that the overlay is the subpicture but i'm a little lost. For example, if I have a button which is a picture and I want that the overlay color would be yellow. How to make this work?

Grey Mystery Box
I now scan an image or bring even an old one up into photoshop I am getting a little grey box in the upperleft hand corner and in it is a number 1 and some other symbol which I cannot make out. This does not happen when I bring the same images up in Paintshop or painter. I recently had to uninstall Zone Alarm and am wondering if this could have something to do with it or maybe it isn't even a PS problem but something on my computer.

Overlay Not Working?
I have using the overlay feature in Photoshop for two years now. It's always worked well, I put a solid color on one layer, a black and white image on a layer above it, choose overlay, and the black and white image takes on the color from the layer below, keeping all the contrast of the original photo. It's why I like this instead of just changing the opacity, which just lightens and washes the image out, even though the color shows through. Now suddenly when I try to do the same thing I've always done, it takes on the color but I get all these bright blown out areas. I have always worked in CMYK as it's for print. I tried making the image black and white and copying it directly from the grayscale file and pasting it into the CMYK file, and I've tried making it a grayscale image, and then turning it back into a CMYK before I paste it into the actual CMYK file I'm working with. Both ways have the same bad result. It's almost as though a preference accidently got changed but I can't find what it might be.

Grey Scale In PS7

What is the setting I'm looking for and how to I set it as the default?

I made this image for printing onto t-shirts, but the printer came back and said that it was far too low a quality. only 23dpi when they require at least 72 and preferably up to 300dpi. I tried to increase the resolution but fell back on trying to remake the image.

Grid Overlay Or X-y Coordinates?
That program by default showed (x,y) coordinates for pretty much any tool. This was really helpful when trying to get a circle around an object precisely. Is there a way to get this displayed in PS? I am using PS CS (Premium Suite-Educational version).

Color Overlay With Other Effects
when i wanna change the colour of a shape/photo etc i often use the colour overlay option becuase it lets me eye drop to the colour i want. The problem is that i cant apply effects to this picuture/shape later as the colour overlay still has priority, ie if i wanna put a texture on it it still shows the colour overlay. Is there a way to merge the layer so it takes on all effects and i can apply new ones?

Overlay For A Constellation Effect
I have a picture of two ladies posing and I want to change the picture into a constellation detailing their bodies. My first thought was to do a transparent overlay on top of a black background and then had hoped there was some way photoshop could take a point-sample, giving me their basic structure. I was unable to find any way of doing this so far and was hoping one of you could point me in the right direction.

How Do I Reduce The Big Grey Background
I just installed CS4 and I now find that I canonly see a single image at a time, as there always seems otbe a big gey background surrounding the current image. A right click allows me to chnage the useless background color, but not get rid of it. I can't drag from the corner to reduce the size. How do I make it so I can work with and see more than one image at a time?

Spacing And Grey Boxes...
How can I make the space between lines like the pic I attached, space them so its 5 or 6 pixels apart? It looks really bad doing it freehand,is there a way to just set the space so it looks even? And how can I add colours to the empty space? Must I use white background instead of transparent? Final question, how can I do those grey boxes like those on URL banner. And those lines that fade out plus how can I sort of make the lines "pop-up" or have that 3d effect, sort of like emboss I guess.

Pattern Overlay Not Working
Im working on this tut from grey cobra. It shows you how to get that worn out look. At one stage you're told to duplicate the background, go to its blending options, choose pattern overlay, chose crepe paper and use overlay as the blending mode. This is supposed to create a subtle noise effect on the appearance of the background. The screen shots in the tut show this. When i do it i cant see any change after the effect has been applied to the layer. Ive got 100% apacity and all that. Could anyone suggest a reason why it wont work?

Finer Shade Of Grey
Open a new doc in Greyscale mode, and use your Color palette in RGB Spectrum to select your hue of grey/colour. And to get a finer shade of grey/colour within the hue of grey/colour you're working with, click on the little arrow (top right of Color palette) and open up the drop down menu and select Current Color. This will give you a finer palette of grey/colour saturation to work with.

Grey/Pink Colour!
I recently came across with Photoshop. Basically when I try to use grey as a colour, it seems to have a pink hue to it and looks terrible. The grey isn't pure and looks all sorts of wrong. I've checked the colour settings and everything is default, my monitor seems fine as the usual grey appears perfectly on any websites. It's just on Photoshop, things simply don't look right. So I'm a bit stuck on what to do next, as anyone else had this problem before and is there a possible fix? To better describe, I have provided a picture of the problem, as you can see the grey looks wrong and as a pink hue.

Can I Use Wrinkled Paper JPG For Overlay?
I'm currently working on creating the following PS project: I'm all the way up to Step 13 (add wrinkled paper texture). However, I can't load the brushes that the guy uses to create his texture; I'm using PS 6, and I get the message that my program isn't compatible with the brushes, when I try to load the brushes. QUESTION: does anyone know of a workaround to make a wrinkled paper texture? I've googled the subject, and it seems that I should be able to make an overlay. So, I went here and downloaded the wrinkled paper JPG: I thought that I could just insert the wrinkled paper into my current project (by creating a new layer); then, maybe adjust the opacity, etc. However, I haven't been able to do this. Anyone have an idea on how I can use the JPG to make the wrinkled texture, or any other ways that I could go about making it? One more QUESTION: In the project that I'm working on, the guy keeps on recommending to create Clipping Mask layers (to hide lines that go beyond their intended border). However, I can't find this option in PS 6. So, I went in and manually erased the extra lines. However, just wanted to know: is there a Clipping Mask option in PS 6?

Image Overlay Question
How do you take a text image with a white background and make it invisible so when you put it on top of another image, only the text shows. The text has a shadow and a reflection, and it is it's own image. Also, does photoshop have any kind of wordart? I used powerpoint to add shadow and reflection and glow to my text, but it would be perfect if photoshop had some kind of alternative (I'm sure it does, I just couldn't find it).

Gradient Overlay Via Blending Options
I'm trying to make a wallpaper and I want to do a gradient overlay via blending options on a layer which already has a black and white gradient fill over it. So I'm trying to do a 2nd gradient overlay. Now, I've set the foreground colour to orange and the background colour to white on the main colour bit on the left toolbar. On the 2nd gradient overlay, I choose "foreground to background" and like I said I made foreground colour orange and background colour black on the toolbar but when I choose "foreground to background" on the gradient overlay it goes purple and blue? WTF is with that. It should be orange and black like I chose it.
