How To Access Lighting Effect Filter ?
I am using photoshop CS and im trying to use the Filter --> Render --> lighting effect but it is grayed out and I can't use it, as well as the lens flare effect.

Lighting Filter
I want to add lighting effects to photos, but the result always darkens the photo everywhere except where I set the new lighting, as if I turned the lights out and hit the image with a flashlight (or whatever other lighting type I choose.) Will the lighting filter just ADD the lighting effect without affecting the rest of the original picture? Something like a HIGHLIGHT? Or EXTRA lighting to the image?

PS CS2 - Win XP From time to time I observe the following phenomenon: I want to apply the lighting filter to a graphic. And nothing happens. The dialogue window won´t open, no effect. Only the history list registers: "lighting effects". I think I remember the problem from earlier versions. What takes it to make the filter work?

Lighting Effects Filter Lines
When applying the lighting effect filter to a photo I get thin horizontal lines across the image. Not the screen just the image. It does not happen with any other filter and does not happen on other machines. This machine is running VISTA.

I'm looking to acheieve this same style lighting effect. I know how to do this over a black background, using blending modes, lighting flares / effects etc...but I cannot get this "GLOW" and realistic looking bright light effect without a black background.

Lighting Effect
I am currently attempting to apply an image, and then filter -> lighting effects -> any light effect. When I apply the affect, at the bottom of my applied image, it appears as though there is a spot that was NOT hit with the "apply light effect." (So, basically, that spot looks normal while everything else is shadowed above it.) I am running Photoshop CS2, the image is in RGB, I've experimented by taking a layer and filter -> lighting effect to see if it had the same outcome, but it did not. It appears this is only a problem when applying the image.

i have been trying to do a lighting effect on some text but that option under render is not 'on' for me to select it. if i bring in a jpg those options comes on but then if i create a new sheet, that render option (and lens flare) is 'off'.

Lighting Effect ...
I'm creating an effect to some text, but for some reason the lighting effects filter in the filter menu is greyed out. I have rasterized my text, so it's not that. I have also checked that I have the lighting style files in the folder where photoshop is installed, I have even dowloaded and added some new. It didn't help.

Using Photo Filter Effect
I have this nice landscape photo that would have looked better had I used some gradual filters for the sky. I notice under the adjustments menu in filters - there is a photo filter, but is it possible to apply this to creat a gradual effect? I would like it very strong towards the top, and slowly tapering to the 'true' colour of the sky that evening. When I played with this filter it seems to blanket apply it!

Filter Effect In New Layer?
I have a picture of a face and the background is water. I want to make a water face and to do that i need to make a water effect out of the face. "Plastic wrap" is a nice filter to use. I select the face and applying the filter, but the filter is now "in" the face (merged), but i want the plastic wrap filter to be in a new layer so i can disable the face and have the water-face effect and the background left. How do i do that? If i make a new layer above the face and applaying the filter, i get a error because there wasn't any pixel to use.

Cross Star Filter Effect In PS7
Has anyone out there had experience with creating a cross star filter effect using PS7? I realize that in an ideal world the effect would be created on the camera lens, but who lives in a perfect world? Photoshop allows us to turn our imperfections into perfections. Funky Pixel Effect- Glowing Edges Filter
I was messing around the other day and I came up with this effect. In my haste to get something done I just saved the picture and moved on. Unfortunately now I am unable to remember the name or location of the effect I used. I am not sure if it is a filter or not. I am sure this is just a silly little thing and I am being dumb, however I have gone through every menu and every filter and I can't seem to figure it out. This image I believe I had inverted and maybe changed the color layout a little bit, but the effect changed both color and style.

Can't Access PS2 With Mac Pro?
I just got my new Mac Pro, and installed CS2. When I try and open Photoshop, I get the message " Could not initialize Photoshop because the disk is not available". I called Apple and they told me it was an Adobe problem. I uninstalled and re-installed CS2 three times, as suggested by Apple, but I cannot get Photoshop to work.

Can't Access Anything But Desktop When...
I have Photoshop CS3 on a PC running Windows Vista. When I try to batch or automate I cannot access any files other than the desktop. If I do file>automate>batch and then go to choose folder, the only folders I can access is the desktop. There are no plus signs and no other options except desktop. The same thing happens if I go file>scripts>image processor. Someone told me this could be a permissions problem with Vista.

Can't Access ImageReady
I recently switched to the OSX operating system from OS9 on my mac. When I did I had to reinstall Photoshop 7. But there are some things that have seemed to change since I switched. - I can't access ImageReady from the Photoshop toolbox anymore. It's dimmed out. The imageready icon is in my photoshop folder and it opens if I click it, but I just can't open it from the ps toolbox. - Also, I can't use the "save for web" option when I create an image. It's dimmed out as well.

I Can't Access Toolbar Help Items
I recently loaded, registered and activated Photoshop CS2 on my Windows XP system. Upon opening the program initially, a 'Welcome' screen automatically presented itself. I went to Tutorials: Learn the Basics. I then went to Help and worked my way through several how to's at the bottom of the window. I then downloaded some updates to the Photoshop software. Since then, whenever I try to return to either the Welcome screen tutorials or the Help > Photoshop Help or Help > any of the How to's, I get the following message: Error The operation could not be completed. When I click OK, the error message is followed by the following: The instruction at "0x00864a4d referenced memory at "0x01030b08". (or more recently at "0x00f40b08") The memory could not be "written". Click OK to terminate the program. I used the Photoshop CS2 disk to repair the program and near the end of the repair, I received the same series of messages. I uninstalled the program, and during the reinstall again received the messages. I'm able to run the program fine, but can't access the above mentioned Help features.

Cannot Access ModifySmooth To Make...
I am using Photoshop in CS4 for a PC. In designing ads for our Web page, I have always smoothed the corners of the finished ad by merging the group of layers, selecting all and choosing Modify<Smooth, choosing a set number of pixels, inversing deleting and voila--rounded corners. I need to be able to provide my in-house Web specialist with a finished jpg file. At least that's what I did in CS3 (or at least I think I did!). Why can't I do this in CS4?

Textures :: How To Access Texture From Folder
I'm a bit confused about the "Texture folder" in the "Presets" of Photoshop CS. What are these textures used for & how do I access them in Photoshop aside for navigating to the "Textures folder" buried in my C dirve. I assume they are associated with the Texture filter, but I have some new "Amazing Sci-Fi" textures I want to play with, if I put them in this folder, how do I access them when I need them? Creating Logo To Use In Microsoft Access
I have created a simple logo in Photoshop for my small company. In photoshop it looks clean and sharp. I saved it onto my desktop (can't remember in what format right now) I am also creating a database in Microsoft Access. I want to use the logo from Photoshop on my reports in Access. I transfered the logo onto the report. In Access it looked good. But, when I printed the report the logo came out grainy. It wasn't unreadable -- it just looked grainy (grey specks) all around the text lettering. My logo is relatively simple: There is only (1) graphic used along with text spelling out the name of my company. My Question Is: How can I make this Logo look ultra clean like font printed on a word document? I want the logo to look sharp with no grain. Someone on another forum suggested using Illustrator. Is this just for text? Can anyone tell me the steps to getting a really clean logo and what format should the logo be saved in?

Unable To Access Kodak PhotoDisc From...

Can't Access Open Dialog Window?
I try to open anything in Photoshop CS, the dialog window shows up for a fraction of a second and then disappears. Photoshop then immediately locks up as if the window is still there and I need to make a selection from there. Only way to do anything at this point is to CTL-ALT-DEL and close Photoshop. I can't think of anything I installed on the laptop lately, Photoshop has run without incident for months on this machine. The other items in CS don't seem to have any problems at all either.

Can't Access Submenus In Tool Palette With Cursor
So I know that you can access all the hidden tools in the tool palette by holding the cursor over a certain tool and then moving the cursor to the right, etc., something like that. And I've accessed these hidden tools with a simple click and slide of my mighty mouse. But suddenly no matter how much I click on the healing button, holding it down, and dragging to the right (or any form of action using the mouse to access the hidden tools), nothing happens! How can I fix this? It's incredibly irritating to me to have to use the shift+letter shortcut to get the hidden tools when I used to be able to just click and drag. I've already tried using the "reset all tools" button under the tool presets. What should I doooo?

Extract Filter Missing From Filter
I have Photoshop CS4 running on a 8 gig Vista 64 bit system. When I click on Filters, there is no Extract Filter. I did a search prior to posting and saw some threads talking about not moving files, icons etc from their original folder. I am un sure if anything has been moved. However, when I click on Filters, they all seem to be there (at least not greyed out), EXCEPT for the Extract filter. Any help would be apprecited and if you let me know where the filters should reside I can make sure they are in the correct location.
