I've made a selection with the magnetic lasso tool, but how can I save only that part of the image as a new image?

This has been my one and only problem with PS since I started using it for web work many years ago. Fireworks can do it, if anyone can tell how to do it in PS I'd be wrapped... I'm using CS3 extended. Say I have a doc 640x480. I select a small section to use on a web page, say... 150x100 with the marque and I want to save only that selection for the web. Code:

Save/load Selection
I am currently working on a project that requires me to resize and cut out every flag in the world. I have been given an Oval shape that every flag has to be exactly like. I have used the actions option to automatically resize all the flags, and now I would really like if someone could tell me how to save the selection that I am supposed to use, so I could make an action thing for that as well. My question is: How do I save a selection from one project, so I can open it in any other project?

Pen Tool Save Selection
When using the magnetic lasso tool a selection may be made and saved. With that selection still active another selection may be added to it and saved. This technique can be used until the entire picture is saved with each selection including all previous selections. I would like to use the pen tool instead of the lasso tool. Is there any way that I can do what I explained in the 2nd paragraph with the pen tool. I am using Photoshop 6 and XP.

Resizing Selection Of Image
Basically what I want to do is make a part of my image in the middle smaller without altering the rest of the image. I have tried to do this by selecting the part of the image I want to resize, and then changing the size of it. The problem is that when I do this, I am left with all this white space in the area where the now smaller image no longer covers (I hope this makes sense). What I want is for the image surrounding my selection to "follow it" so to speak, and cover in where there is now white space.

Moving A Selection For One Image To Other Picture
How do I move a selection from one picture to a new picture, and keep it from being transparent, so it sits right ontop of an existing background? I have an existing background, I can use the magic wand to select items from another picture, and drag them to the new one, but they always change colors to fit the background. I want them to remain the color that they are.

Selection Brush And Turning The Image
I recently just got Photoshop CS2 and there are some of the simpliest things that I cannot figure out. I use to have Photoshop Elements 4.0 and these things were easy as pie, oh well, hope you can help. On CS2, I cannot find the selection brush tool anywhere! could someone tell me where it is located. Or if there is a better tool that has "replaced it" and does the same thing? Also, when I move images into another "box" it isn't giving me the outline of the image where I can easily resize it and turn the image at an angle. Is there something I need to do to make it give me the outline [sorry, I dont know the actual word for what it is called]?

Select And Save Parts Of Image With Different Image Quality
A while back I took a Photoshop class and remember a lesson on where you could select a region of an image and save it for the web with a high quality and select another region of the same image and save it for the web with a low quality, so that the focal point was saved with a high quality and the background was saved with a low quality. I have no idea where my notes are from this class and can not remember at all how to do this. Can anyone direct me to a tutorial about this?

Quickmask Selection Is Turning Selection Opaque
I am trying to cut a person out of a picture with a deatiled background so I am using the quickmask selection and paint brush. I'm done selecting the person and have gone back into normal editing mode. I then inversed the selection created within quickmask to select everything but the person in the background. When I click delete, the background vanishes and the person become opaque.

Feathering A Selection Outwards After Making A Selection
If I have mad a selection with say an ellipse marque, of say 100px and now I want to fether that same selection outwards, ie to start the feather 10 px outward of the 100px selection so that the 100th px has a 100% transparency and the 110th px has a transparency of zero,thus making the new selection 110px, how could I go about doing it. With the current feathering of the selection, it feathers only in the marquee already selected, not outward, and you cannot place negative feathering px. I know that there is most likely some sort of a ration where you would expand the selection by a certain amount of px, and then apply a ratio of feathering to it to enalble it to feather outside of the 100px marquee.

Camera RAW JPG 'Save Image
In camera RAW, to save a JPG you click on the 'Save image...' dialogue and another window opens with the JPG options. To skip this window and directly save the image, you hold down the ALT key and click on the 'Save image'. Is it possible to reverse these settings, so that if you want the JPG dialogue to open you have to hold down the ALT key and to save without the dialogue, you just click on the save button?

How Do You Save The Alpha Image?
i have an image which has an alpha channel which allows certain parts of the image to be more transparent than others. When you de-select RGB channel and only leave the Alpha channel selected you'll notice that the image has now turned into a black and white alpha image, where black shows complete transparency, and white shows no transparency. Is it possible to save this black and white alpha image? Incase you dont understand what im trying to do heres a picture. I just took that pic off the net as an example of what i want (incase your wondering), so basically, all i want to know is, how do you save an image (like above) which shows the levels of transparency. At the moment, i have to use the printscreen key on the keyboard to capture the image, which is very annoying because its extra work and if the image is larger than the screen it requires alot of aligning.

when I work on my images, I always duplicate it as soon as I open it then close the original (working on the dup) so as to keep the original untouched. My friend open his original then save as, and keep on working, saving a copy? Save New Image Size
I'd like to work with a 1280x1024 *new* image size, but everytime I open up Photoshop 7, I am presented with the basic menu: Custom Default PS ect.... 720x540 all the way to 1920x1080 HDTV...etc. No 1280x1024! I've been looking at the menus until my eyes bleed, but I cannot find a way to put 1280x1024 onto the *new* image size menu. I am left with typing in the size EACH AND EVERY TIME I want to create a blank image size.

Save For Web In Action, Resize Image...
i create an action with a save for web command, i change the image size to 400x400 pixels. But when i run the action on a larger or smaller image the image size will change proportionatly. Not 400x400pixels. If i add to the action before i save for web to resize the image through the menu commands i end up with lost resolution.

Image Lose Smoothness On Save
I save my image into jpg/gif or whatever, it tends to lose a bit of detail or rather "smoothness." The image looks very nice and smooth in PS, but whenever I save it to use on the web, It looses a bit of its smoothness. Is there some setting or technique to fix.

I Didn't Flatten Image, But Later Can't Edit It [Save PSD]
i put copyright text on my photos, i didn't flatten image but " save as" in JPEG,click "save" then before i close the photos , it said "save changes to the adobe photoshop document ...before closing?" then i clicked NO. And now i opened these photos to change the size of the copyright text and year, i can't because there's no layer for the text, only a background which means the text and photo are in one layer. After Quick Mask - Can't Save Image
I am having NO PROBLEM creating a masked image by the use of the: Eliptical tool >Quick Mask >Filter >Blur > Gaussion Blur then tweak up color and settigs as to the proper steps in the course. How Can I Default My Custom Image Size On SAVE FOR WEB ?
I'm trying to see if there is a shortcut or way to save my images to the size I want on the SAVE FOR WEB feature For faster downloads I like to shrink my images to to 800 X 600 - so once I'm done editing them I hit "Save for Web" and then input those figures manually. Cannot Open Or Save Files In Image Ready
I have ps 7 with image ready. Whenever I try to open a file in image ready I get the following error message. "Could not complete this operation becuase an assertion has failed." If I open the file in PS first and then switch to Image ready it will work but then I egt the same error message when trying to save it. I have re-installed ps but still no luck.

'save To Web' From Photoshop To Image Ready Changes Original's Color Before Optimizin
Can anyone tell me what color settings I need to set in photoshop in order to avoid this from happening? It only happens once in a while and I don't know what I've done to fix it or screw it up. What happens is that when I'm in photoshop and I do a "save for web" my document jumps to image ready and when viewing '2 up' for optimization purposes and comparison, I realize that the original view is actually duller in color and does not look like the original in photoshop. The blacks are definitely not as black.

Removing Some Save Formats Types From SAVE Menu
In SAVE (and SAVE AS) menu of PS there are list of different supported formats such as PSD, BMP, GIF, DCM, EPS, PCX, PDF, PXR, png etc. But Mostly we use few of them. Is there a option to change this list and remove unwanted ones! ------------------------------- PS always wants to save the result by default in PSD format and as soon as you change it, (and file name already exist) it add "copy" add end of file. I want to replace the file. IS there a way to either disable adding "copy" or disabling the default save format?

"Save For Web" Keeps Desaturating Image!
I've noticed when working in Photoshop CS, that everytime I save an image as a JPG for the web (by choosing "save for web"), that it REALLY desaturates the image WAY too much. I don't know how to go about solving this -- I never encountered it in any of the other versions I've used. I found an odd workaround though -- I do a screen capture of the image (automatically saved as a PDF of the image on my Mac), then I open the PDF of the screen capture up in Photoshop CS, then I SAVE TO WEB. ONLY THEN, does it reproduce accurately with NO desaturation.

Save Optimized Won't Save As .gif
problem with ImageReady saving the optimized output as .gif file. I create a psd file in PhotoShop then edit in Adobe ImageReady. I create the slices from guides, set my output setting, then when I do File, Save Optimized Settings and try and change the Save as type, it will not let me save as .gif. Only .html or .jpg. Save For Web Only Let Me Save As Jpeg
I got a file that's only let me do Save for Web in jpg format. I choose png24, click save and it changes to jpg in the save dialog. Then I created a blank doc, copy everything from the problem file over to the new file and I can Save for Web in png just fine.

i previously commented on the marquee bug, where that jumps around the screen and have just noticed another one.. when the move tool is selected and you hold ctrl then click on a shape/image then normally it will select that layer/group but in cs4 it's making my selection jump off the page everytime on the click.

Selection Look 3D
I've seen interesting pictures where an area is selected and somehow altered (e.g., a color photo with a selected bw area). This is easy and even I could do it: what I am unable to do (and it has often very beautiful effects) is to give the selected area a 3D effect (shadows and all) so that it stands out from the rest of the picture.
