Human Tones Color Swatches
I know Bruce Beard has the hair and skin tone color swatches, but I could have sworn I've seen palettes for eyes and lips, too. Anyone know of any off-hand?

Replace Human Skin With Another Human...
How can i take a sample of human skin on an image and give a different image the extact same skin, i know you can replace the colour, andr HSL, but the skin never looks like the skin does on the other image, you dont get the shaes and blemishes etc. If i cut out a sample of the skin and overlay it on the image, again this just seems to lightnen the image.  Is there some kind of plugin that will sample the skin on an image and strech it onto another image and hence give some image the extact same skin as from where the skin sample was taken? Say i wanted to give nicole kidman, britney spears face skin what most advanced, realistic way of doing this, without just trying to matching one colour and replace the whole skin with one colour?

Making Color Swatches?
Does anyone know if there is a way to import a text file, or another type of file, into color swatches to make a custom pallet? We have to type in over 8,000 swatches, and I was hoping there might be an easier way to do it, rather than making a new color and then making a new swatch.

Gray Tones Look Red
I have CS4 and all my gray tone have a strong red cast to them. However, outside of PS, the color looks just fine. I didn't have this problem with CS2. I have combed the internet looking for answers, but the only one I can find is "Calibrate your monitor!". the colors look right in CS2, and the only thing I have changed about my system and/or monitor is my version of PhotoShop (CS2 to CS4).

How Do You Create Metallic Human Skin
creating futuristic metallic skins.....? If any of you have seen VTC advanced photoshop course by Jayse then you know what I am on about. He creates metalic looking skin using curves, displacement maps, curves etc...but on his last "15 - Nicole Face" lesson there are steps which are skipped.... My question is does anyone know how he adjusts the curves to create highlights on the images (One looks like he has played around with the curves and animated it...I don't know how he has done this).

Matching Skin Tones
I have a number of photos to retouch and balance skin toning. The basic problem is that the young lady in the photographs has two distingt skin tones but no clearly defined 'tan line'. The differences are detectable and visible (between her back and backside for instance) and I guess caused purely by sun exposure pigmentation versus those bits that never see the sun!

Making Human Skin Texture For Game
I am a game coder/artist using 3ds Max. To date, I have used very simplistic methods of making character skins. I need to step it up a notch and start making more realistic (human) skin textures for humans models in this game I'm working on. I have been searching the web for several days on this topic and finding little luck. Here are the problems I am encountering: 1. Most skin tutorials for cgi I've found are for high-res, pre-rendered images in Max or Maya ,and not for games. They use several shaders and bump maps and complex multi-texturing that I cannot use in a game. 2. I found one fairly decent skin making tutorial but it used a clouds effect that really only works for light-skinned characters. I tried to modify for darker skin characters and it looks really bad. 3. In general, I have not found much for this at all on the web.

Facial Tones And Neck/jaw Shadowing
I have a large picture that has ballpoint ink written on part of it. I had no trouble getting the background edited since it was basically the same color. I did end up cloning two different parts of the background and covering it twice to get a blended effect which worked great. The problem is facial tones. There is ink covering the neck area on the left and the right and the head is at an angle. I haven't been able to pick a color or gradient that works. I tried to clone a different area of the face but that didn't work either. Then I zoomed way in and got each square (pixel?) to show up but it would take me hours to color in each one and there isn't any part of the neck that isn't covered in ballpoint ink so I can't even pick the right skin color/tone. I downloaded a Gimp program but honestly since I don't know what all those tools are, I don't know which one to use to get it right so I'm hoping someone here can say "use this for this and that for that" so I don't have to trial and error each tool/effect. Or, if there's another free photo editing program that's easier to use, point me in that direction.

Dodging/Burning - Protect Tones
In PS CS3 I had set up something very useful on my Wacom tablet. I had two buttons mapped to two different actions. They would do the following: 1) Load tool preset for Dodge, 25px soft round, 10%, Highlights 2) Load tool preset for Burn, 25px soft round, 10%, Shadows With PS CS4 this doesn't work because of the new "Protect Tones" checkbox. If Protect Tones is on, the tool preset will not change from "Highlights" to "Shadows" automatically. It just gets stuck on whatever it was on previously. To make matters worse, Protect Tones turns itself ON every time you switch from Dodge to Burn, even if you've saved a Tone Preset with Protect Tones turned off!

Multicolor Screen Printing With Half Tones (not CMYK)
I have been using photoshop to create screens for about 5 years. I have never gone beyond single color screens with halftones. This is nice because I can work on a back ground color, and represent my artwork in a single color, and simply make areas for halftoning by making the artwork color less opaque. This is kind of a hack though, and it is even more obvious when using layer styles which use the background color for a shadow or highlight. It seems like there should be an easier way to make this work... but I'm not a pro, and sometimes I get lost in the terminology. Essentially what i want to do is make photoshop work in a limited number of colors, and blends of those colors. This can be done in CMYK, but I want to work with even less color. For example blue background (instead of the assumed white) and artwork in yellow and orange. The only way i can think to do this, is to work in CMYK, and use the base colors for my artwork, and just live with not having an accurate representation to look at while I am working. There has got to be an easier way.... right??

Swatches Palette
I'm running Photoshop CS3 Extended in 32 bit Vista. Whenever I need a layer filled with 50% Gray I have been accustomed to select it from the default swatches palette (last box on the right side of the first row). However, I have just discovered - perhaps belatedly - that the RGB values that this selection produces are NOT R 128, G 128, B 128 but can vary between 131 and 147 depending on the color profile of the document that I am using at the moment. I can verify that it is not 50% Gray by then changing the blending mode of the new layer to Overlay which, at least in theory as I understand it, should produce no color change to the underlying layer. However, I do observe changes. I have also confirmed with others that this behaviour is the same for CS3 running in XP on a different make of computer.

Colour Swatches
Is there a way of organizing the colours in a swatch to something other than the default. You can delete, or add, but you can't drag them to new positions to arrange. I'm creating some swatches of my own, but the order of the colours is not to my liking. Just can't figure out if they can be organised by Hue, Brightness etc, or moved around individually.

Sharing Swatches
I'm trying to share the Skintones swatch from Illustrator to Photoshop. I selected it, saved it for exchange to the desktop and hit the Load Swatches button on the swatches palette in Photoshop. I get the little spinning Vista thing but that's it. Photoshop looks for .aco and, of course, the swatches are saved as .ase. Changing the file format to include .ase doesn't seem to do anything and the swatches don't show up in the list of libraries. Is it possible that the skintones swatch is one of the many that CS2 won't share?

Custom Swatches
I did the search and found a few posts that explained a few methods for this but the results were not exactly what I was looking for. Is it or isn't it possible to create a blank swatches table - add "only" the colors you want and be able to load that palette again as needed? I saw a few posts that say to use the images>mode>index color route - then save as a color table. But... when you load from the swatches dialog it adds the colors from the table to the existing swatches... What I would like is have separate swatches palettes containing only the colors I saved - this would be for project work.

Calculate Percentage Of A Color!! (know The Total Amount Of A Certain Color)
How do you know the total amount of a certain color from an image (in percent%)? Is there a way to calculate it? Let's say I have an image with a white background and a red figure. If the whole painting is 100%, what's the percentage of the white background or the red figure? I need to know how to calculate this (accurate) I make paintings with only 2 colors (a 'background color' and the 'main color') To put an objective price on my paintings I decided to calculate the amount of 'main color' (or background color) and base my prices on this information. This is the only way I could price my art fairly an objective.

Matching Transparent Color To Solid Color
I have a solid green rectangle. I would like to create several similar green rectangles at various levels of transparency that will perfectly match the color of the solid green rectangle. Is there an easy way to do this? I have tried matching it by eye, and can get very close: the original solid green rectangle is R:135 G: 174 B: 155 after making a copy of the solid green rectangle, say, 90% transparent, I can play with Hue/Saturation to get around R:136 G:175 B: 154, according to the eyedropper. But I don't see any way of fine tuning the RGB/HSB/etc. absolute values in the transparent version.

Color Picture To Color + Black And White
I have a color picture which I took, of a red berry bush. I want to remove all the color except for the red from the berries. I know how to lasso the berries, but I can't remove the color from the bush/background and leave the red berries. Note: I did this once a couple years ago, and can't remember how I did it..I have some memories, but probably remember just enough to make me dangerous. I have done some searches but obviously the results are numeorus and I haven't found what I am looking for yet. I know the solution involves selecting the berries and then inversing it and then setting all 3 colors to 0 for the background. What I can do is 1) lasso the berries 2) inverse what I can't figure out 1) it seems like there was 1 step about layering which enabled me to get started, but I don't remember this, it does seem like I am missing something very basic when I try to do this 3) Where is the color scale, the only thing I can find is the grayscale option which switches the entire project to black and white.
