Is There A Way To Know How Many Pixels You Have Selected?
I'm doing science fair right now and i need to figure out how many pixels are in a certain selection (a laso). Is there a way other than knowing the width and height, a way to know exacly how many pixels are in a selection? or even how many pixels of a certain color are in a selection? if there isnt, does anyone know a program that can do this?

No Pixels Are More Than 50% Selected
I'm having problems with the magic wand tool. I try selecting an area which works fine but when I try to subtract an area from it I get this message: "Warning: No pixels are more than 50% selected. The selection edges will not be visible." I googled this and came up with a few solutions but none worked. The most common solution was to reduce feathering to zero. When I tried to do that I got the message: "A number between 0.2 and 250.0 is required. Closest value inserted." Any idea what I'm doing wrong and how to get rid of these annoying error messages?

No Pixels Selected?
I am trying to work throught the photo restoration book. I am putting together a photo that has been torn into pieces. I have to select each piece using the lasso tool, use the option key with magic wand to select it in more detail, then make a new layer to store each piece in. The first torn piece worked out fine, when I tried to select the second piece, I used the lasso successfully, then tried to hold down the option and click the magic want, it said that there were no pixels selected. I have run into this problem before.... I started over and over reselecting this piece and every time, it said that there were no pixels selected.

Creating A Vector From Selected Pixels
I have drawn a vector shape and want to apply 4 colours to it. I have drawn 4 squares with the colours I want and then merged the layers so it becomes 1. I then "selected the pixels" on my shape and cut out that shape from the 4 squares of colour i created. However, when I resize my shape, it blurs as it is not vector anymore. Is there a way to do acheive the above but keep the shape a vector?

Square Pixels Or Rectangular Pixels For Video
If I am constantly making frames in photoshop for use in the video world (ie. They will be on TV) the pixels need to be rectangular (or 4x3) in aspect and not square. I know in programs like After Effects and Combustion you can set when saving an image whether or not it is square or rectangular pixels. How do I do this in Photoshop if it can be done?

I was wondering if anybody knew what Photoshop does to an image when you select text in the text tool. I've decided I want to use this effect on part of my image, but I can't figure out how to make it. It's a certain kind of inversion, but using "Invert" does NOT produce the same results. Marquee Selected
I was working on some web design stuff, and I was using the rectangular marquee heavily. Accidentally I hit some keys, and then the marquee didn't mark a rectangular area anymore, but an odd rectangular-elliptical shape. I didn't change the tools or anything, the rectangular marquee was still selected.

Marquee Selected Size
I've just started using PS CS2 and i can't figure it how to view the size when using marquee tool. For example when i want to select something i want to see the current size of marquee while i'm moving marquee around. It's really hard to select for example 153×44 with marquee when i have no idea how big current selection is. Hope you understand what i mean. Also, is there any way to measure for example how many pixels is between two let's say bots. I know that you have ruler but that doesn't really. Basically similar to above with marquee size. When you draw a line, it shows how long this line is.

im using Adobe PS 7.0. Im trying to So I have picture of A person standing in a city with clothes and everything. The thing im trying to do is changeing the color of his jacket (only) but every time I try it changes the color of the whole pictures or something else. Image>Adjustment>HueSaturation>Changeing from master to other color>then pressing ****+ and taking some samples> then when im draging the Hue or saturation its changes the whole picture. Selected Area Empty
I want to move and rotate a selection but PS (CS3) gives the message it can't be done because the selected area is empty. However, if I rotate or move in the background layer or a duplicate background layer the whole image changes, I also move or rotate the backgroundstuff while I only wanted to rotate the selection.

Layers Not Selected As Defult For PSD...
I find all the Layers are merged into one! I usually I make a dozen or so files before choosing the best one to go back and edit. After starting up again today I realised that I needed to make a slight alteration on a previous poster and discovered that there was only a single layer contained within the PSD file with all the content merged together! I checked other files and they were all the same! This means I have at least 20 PSD files that are practically useless! I cannot understand why Layers was not selected as default in the save as window!! I certainly never turned it off in the save as window and no one else uses my computer... Unless it had something to do with the fact that when I was saving PDF files of the same documents and unclicked the "preserve Photoshop illustrating capabilities" in the second window that pops up so the PDF would not be as big... but even so I did not click it in the save as window... and therefore assumed it would only apply to PDF files! If this is the reason then I'm bloody annoyed that they would implement such a stupid feature! What other use is there for PSDs then to preserve the layers!? I have never had this problem before on other computers or copies of Photoshop... Unless this has something specifically to do with CS3? I dont suppose there is any way to retrieve my lost layers so I can edit the files? Or do I just have to start all over again?

Levels Adjusment To Only Selected...
I regularly have to adjust ranges of colors in indexed images. I usually use "Image -> Adjustments -> Replace color..." to do this since it effectively allows me to pick multiple color table entries and apply Hue, Saturation, and Lightness adjustments to them. What I could *really* use now and then, however, is the ability to apply a Levels adjustment to the selection. Unfortunately, I can only seem to apply a Levels adjustment to the whole indexed image, not just ranges of color table entries. I can't convert to RGB first because the color tables I end up with have to be applicable to the same image (the pixels in the image have to continue to reference the same color table index; converting to RGB and back breaks this association). if there's something I'm overlooking? The "Lightness" adjustment in the "Replace color..." tool just doesn't cut it for the level of adjustment I need.

Open Selected File Within Action
Is it possible to put as part of an action 'open the file that's selected in the file browser'. At the moment I select files and then run a batch process, or open the file and then run an action, but can I skip that stage? What I have in mind is being able to look over the file browser to see which action each file needs to have run, but to be able to just click an action button and for it to open that file and run the action, etc.

'File Type Being Selected By Keystroke'...
In previous versions, when in the file requester, with the File Type field focused, I could type the first letter of the format I wanted (ex. J for Jpeg), and it would select it. That was a nice little feature that sped up the saving process (...didn't have to open up the File Type pulldown, and scroll through the selections until I found the one I wanted). Is that now gone in CS3 (extended), or is there some setting I can change to get that back?

Text Looks Selected And No 'jpg' Option
Whenever I add text, there's a little black and white border around each letter. It looks like it's highlighted, but it's like that even after I save it. Another thing is that while I am doing anything to the picture, nt just text, the colors are inverted. if i try to save any kind of a document, there is no 'jpg' option. I think there are some other options missing, too. I just used it last week, and I could save it as jpg and use text at that point.

Save In PSD And Keep Selected Area Intact, How?
I have a little dilemma at the moment. I've spent a good half an hour or more using the Lasso tools to select a bunch area's while in a very high resolution so I can use a filter on certain areas. Well that filter is bugged for some reason. And I need to restart Photoshop. But when I save it as a PSD. And open it again. My selection is gone and I'm left with my unselected image. Measuring Pixels
I've done a lot of web design with photoshop. Often times it's best to make a large picture and then cut it up into smaller pieces to fit the spreadsheet layout of an html page, but I've always found it very time consuming. I basically have to make rectangle marquees until I get the correct dimensions, usually making a conservative estimate, then zooming in to slowly count the pixels needed. Is there a way to type in a pixel number to automatically select to that point?

Blocky Pixels
I work for a small magazine and were running a feature on old school games, my question is this. The foreground is going to have a screen shot of lets say Super Mario Brothers. How can I enlarge the foreground image so that the pixels stay blocky and nothing gets smoothed out. Low Down The Number Of Pixels
I'm trying to draw using my wacom tablet, altough theres too much pixels in my file and the line dosen't goes strait and I have less control. When I'm drawing in a very zoomed-in file like 5000% insted of 100%, the line comes out much better. My Problem is After I've done drawing in my zoomed-in file, when I'm trying to enlarge what I've just draw from about 5000% to 100% everything looke blur and not well. Pixel/Cloning question: I have 2 images- one imports as 16.7%, 4000/3000 pixel dimension, 180 res, the other at 33.3%, 2400/1800 pixels and 72 res. When choosing the pixel size for the cloning brush, how does the number of pixels I choose relate to the image size that photoshop has imported your image as? Pixels On Edge Of Canvas
It occurs on all canvas size, small to large. Alot of the pixels across the bottom and up and down the right side basicaly arn't working. For example I take the pencil too and attempt to fill a singel pixel on the bottom of teh canvas. The history records the use of the pencil tool but nothing appears on the canvas. The same is for the marquee tool. If I go a few pixels above the bottom row and select by draging down it will go to the bottom. But if I try to only select the bottom row the marquee outline does not appear and I am told no pixels were selected. However when I use the fill too those same pixels along the bottom and up the right side are filled. After becoming extreamly agrivated and going nuts with the pencil tool I noticed that if I hold it down and and slide it toward one of the pixels I can eventualy get it, but only after penciling the surring 60 or so pixels. I have restared photo shop 4 times with no luck. I'm not drawing on the background layer and the color i'm using is not the same as a color below it.

Resizing And Transforming Pixels
I am taking photos off the web into photoshop, transforming them and reloading them back on the web. Whats the best way to ensure the utmost quality on my images? Being that they all come in diffrent resolutions per inch and I am forcing them into a document that is 1700 x 1314 at 200 dpi. Redrawing Pixels And Lagging
For some reason, recently, when i paint in pshop CS2, every 10 or 12 strokes, my computer lags and I have to sit here and wait for it to catch up, and draw the last couple of strokes I made. It is REALLY irritating when painting for he obvious reason that it delays creativity. I have a dual 2 ghz G5 with 7 gb of RAM AND 550 GB of space, so it CAN'T be my comp. Any Ideas why it's laging so badly. Also, in the last couple of weeks, for some reason, pshop is redrawing my pixels on the screen, making it very difficult to paint. Basically, when I paint, or drag the screen around, it keep residual pixels from my last angle, and they don't move until I drag my brush through them, making it impossible to paint accurately. I have to zoom out and then back in to clear it.
