problme with photoshop cs, i have used just some layers so many times but after reinstalling photoshop i faced to this message,"Could not complete your request because the layer is not a valid text layer"

CS2 Serial Number Not Valid
I recently got a new laptop, and I want to transfer the CS2 activation from my old desktop to my new laptop. I deactivated CS2 on my old computer, but when I try to activate it on my new laptop, I'm told that the serial number isn't valid.I use Window's Vista.

CS4 Valid Key Showing Invalid
We have a 5 user license for Photoshop CS4 extended, and the first machine I've tested on has returned a red cross indicating an invalid license key when this is entered. However, the same key has subsequently been accepted for 2 other Windows installs on very similar machines. This is a full install license as it has successfully installed CS4 alongside CS3 on one of the clients. I have tried uninstalling all Adobe Photoshop related products including Bridge, etc from the problematic machine (and also ensured the HKLMSofwateMicrosoftWindowsCurrenversionUninstall key is cleared of such products) restarted and attempted install again but it's still not accepted. I'm suspecting this one workstation has something left over in the registry or perhaps a file/folder that is confusing the key check.

As i didnt know what i was doing, i accidentally replaced the icons with others of the wrong resolution without backing up the file first and now i get a "not valid win32 app" message. how to fix this or post their icons ( you would have to extract them form the photoshop.exe file)

Copying Arabic Text Into A Text Layer...
I paste Arabic font (a sentence in Arabic in Word for example) onto a text layer in photoshop, it compleatley switches the direction of the text and the sentence doesn't read as it was in word. This leads to us going through a very complicated process of saving it as a pdf and then importing as a vector. Does anyone know how we just import Arabic text from another document so that PHotoshop (using CS3) renders it the right way around (words and individual 'letters')

Photshop CS on XPP machine. I've created a new image by combining a car jpg and a scenery jpg. In the new image the car is floating over the scenic background. I have this new image saved as both a jpg and a psd. I'm able to add text to the new image but I can't add effects to the text, like Stroke or Drop Shadow etc. I've tried creating text in another new document and adding effects, but if I copy it onto the carscenery image, the effects vanish.

No Text Layer
I just upgraded from PS7 to CS3 Extended. I am playing with an image getting used to new tools. I try to add a test layer, it show that I created a layer and I can see the text on the right side layers palette but not on my image. Gradient layers show up, as will solid layers and filters etc.

Same Text Layer On Several Different Pictures
I do a little wedding photography and like to give the married couple a disc with all the un-edited pictures of the day for them to choose in the comfort of their own homes. The problem is i want to put text layer written 'SAMPLE' across each picture and then flatten each one before saving it to stop any editing on their behalf. Do i really have to go through this for each one (usually over 100 pics) or is there a quicker route or even alternative to this?

Layer Masking W/ Text
I'm making this image that illustrates a famous dadaist quote and one thing im trying to do is make a couple words out of a painting. This is unclear so I will explain. I have made a layer that only has rasterised white text on it. There are three words, each spread out about two inches from the other (vertically). One of the words has a pretty interesting blur effect on it (this is significant). There is a painting I like. I want the white text to be filled with the corresponding areas on the painting. This means the text will actually be made OF the painting. Now i considered just clicking on the outside of the text hitting select inverse and just going to the layer with the painting and cutting out the selection of the text. However, if you remember, one of the words has an interesting blur effect which will then be lost, but I want the blur to be retained. On that note, I know this has to be done via a layer mask over the painting layer, BUT i cant paste the white text into the mask nor can i retype it without a new layer being created.

How can I get the text layer appears as text when applying "Save optimized as" to be HTML and images? For example: Suppose I have a simple psd file, which includes a text layer contains the word "Hello World". Using ImageReady I can convert it into a web page. I want the resulting web page has the word "Hello World" as a text. i.e, The mouse cursor turns into " I beam" In other word, the word "Hello world" will be available in the page's HTML Source. I tried to find some thing about this in the manual, but I can not find any thing. Making the slice type "No Image" is not an option, because I have seen PSD web templates with text turns into real text on optimization and slices which include the text is image type.

Layer Style With Text?
having some problems selecting layer style's with a text layer, I can get them easly enough with a normal layer. but when I add a text layer, trying to get the drop shadow or outer glow etc is nearly impossible. I can double click all I like on the layers palette, and nothing happens. I know they are available, I have used them before. I'm adding 3 text layers to an image composite (jpeg converted from raw 8 bit in CS 1 and the 3 text layers are the top 3 of 17 layers) and want all the 3 layers with the drop shadow. Is there another way of applying layer styles? I have allready put the drop shadow on the other 13 layers (even copy layer style doesn't seem to work on the text)

Text Layer Needs To Be Updated ?
I save a CS3 .psd file with text layers (they are actively installed on my XP system, they appear in the Photoshop type tool's drop-down list). I close the file. I reopen it three minutes later (because I found a typo). Upon opening, PS says: > Some text layers might need to be updated before they can be used for vector based output. Do you want to update these layers now ? When I click on "Update", the file opens fine, all text layers display properly and can be edited.

File Name Needs To Become A Text Layer
I have a job which will require many steps of post production. One of the steps is to take the filename and paste it into the lower left hand corner in white type. I have done that sort of thing with picture packages before, but none where the picture needs to be 11X17 inches. Is there a way to "access" the filename in a copy and paste move for the file you are working on?

Adding Text Layer To An Image & Trying...
I am trying to add a simple text layer to some relatively small JPEG files - each file is only about 3 or 4 MB in size before any editing or additions are made to the files. I am using P-shop CS2 on a PC with Windows XP SP2.When I add a few lines of simple text (with no special effects) to any of these files and attempt to save the edited file as a .TIFF or .PSD file with the text as its own layer in the file - the resulting .TIFF or .PSD file is a 30 or 35 MB file which is hard to work with because of its size. These files have only two layers in them - the text layer and the base image. It just does not seem logical that a simple text layer would make a file increase in size by 10 times. I would like to try to save the edited image files as .TIFF or .PSD so that I can go back and make future edits to the text layer.I have tried to save the edited file with the text layer as a .zip file but these files are also still very large - 20 MB or so.Maybe I have some basic file settings wrong that are making the files so large? Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can add a simple text layer to a relatively small image file, save it as a .TIFF or .PSD file and keep the resulting file size manageable?

Text Layer Name Auto Update
When you create a text layer, it automatically names the layer whatever you type. If you go and rename the layer, it keeps that name regardless of what you type on your document. What I want to do is revert the layer back to doing it's auto naming thing. Is there any way to doa that? I can't just do "undo". Its an old document. I know I can copy the text into a new text layer and it will name it the way I want to, but I don't want to do that if I don't have to.

Multiple Text Instances On A Single Layer?
Up until now, I've been using Paint.NET as my main paint program. It worked well enough but had a few specific limitations that forced me to request the company I work for to purchase Photoshop CS2, which they did. In fact, the IT dept just finished installing it. I'd like to have a single text layer with multiple instances of text, but everytime I go to add additional text, CS2 "conveniently" creates a new layer for me. Is there any way to tell CS2 to "Stop that!" and let me create as many individual instances of text on one layer as I want? I am labeling buildings/roadways on aerial photos and don't need to have 40-50 text layers per photo.

Unable To Use Move Tool For Text Layer
I try to move text in a layer with the move tool. I highlight the text layer, select the move tool, and move the tool to the text. As soon as I click on the layer with my mouse, the highlight moves to an image layer below the text layer. I can move the text using the arrow keys, but that takes forever.

How Do I Keep Multiple Text Lines In A Single Layer?
How do I create multiple lines of text in a single layer. Everytime I finish with a line and want to go to the next, I hit 'Enter', but that completes the text. If I click on the layer image again, then it creates another layer. So basically if I have 10 lines of text, I end up with 10 layers of text as well. Needless to say, this becomes to much trouble if I have to center each line of text and add blending options to 10 layers instead of one.

Adding Layer Mask To Hue/Sat Layer Multiply Blending Mode
I adjusted the curves in the Hue/Saturation layer so just the illuminated slopes of the mountains (layer "DEM") are yellow. About the 3rd Layer: I think I would like to create a layer mask (out of the layer 3rd from top) to add to the top layer. My hope is that the black in the 3rd layer will not allow the yellow to be seen as much. On this layer the black represents lower elevation and the white represents higher elevation. My Goal If just the mountain slopes at higher elevations are illuminated with yellow tint, it gives the effect of alpenglow, or sun falling on high peaks before it sets completely. How would I go about doing this? A tutorial suggests Multiply Blending Mode, but I'm not sure if this is right because I haven't succeeded. Base Layer Layer Style With Clipping Masks
I'm using a clipping mask on a layer. The base layer that the clipping mask is referencing has a layer effect applied (in this case an inner shadow). I want to make it so the layer effect is only applied to the base layer and NOT the clipped layers. Below is an example of what I'm talking about. as you can see, layer 1 has the base layer's inner shadow applied to it. I want the inner shadow to be hidden by Layer 1, but the clipping mask to still apply.

Difference Between Selecting Your Layer And Clicking Add Layer Mask
Is there a difference between selecting your layer and clicking Add Layer Mask Icon versus having that layer selected, hold down ctrl and select Add Layer Mask Icon? Also regarding working in Lightroom, if I modify a jpeg, select another image from filmstrip to work on and then go back to the first image for more work, are those actions degrading image even though I never physically save and close.

I could have sworn that in previous versions of Photoshop, before version CS4, that if there was a link icon between the layer thumbnail and the layer mask on that same layer, if you move one or the other, they both move. Duplicating A Layer/folder Adds The Layer
Every time you duplicate a folder or a layer, it adds the word "Copy" at the end. Is there a way to get rid of this? I've been looking for a solution to this for the past 2 years. I spend 8 hours a day in Photoshop creating Comps. I'm crazy about having my layers clean, therefore I use a lot of folders, etc. I probably waste an hour a day removing the $%)?#* Copy word at the end of layers/folders. How To Create A Hilightes Layer And A Shadow Layer For Same
I need an easy way to fix a high contrast image such as an interior home shot where the windows are blown out and you can't see outside detail,but the interior is either correctly exposed or is underexposed. Basically what i need to do is combine the correctly exposed interior with the correctly exposed windows, showing correct exposure for both interior and exterior detail. To get the correct exposure i have been taking a shot in which i meter the windows, and without moving the camera, take another shot in which i meter the interior. Here is where i get stuck. the way i've been doing it, which takes way too much time for my purposes, is to either use the magnetic lasso tool or the polygonal lasso tool to select the area of the properly exposed windows, and then cut and paste the selections to the other layer. The problem with this is, it takes quite a while and i usually have to go back and do some cloning around the edges to fill in the spots that got missed, which takes alot of time as well, because it usually takes me several tries to get it right. Is there an easier way?

Two Bevel Layer Styles On A Single Layer
does anyone know of a way to have two different bevel layer styles on the same layer or a way to get the same effect? I'm testing out some new ways to paint normal maps in PS and one way is to add a diagonal cyan - magenta bevel and then ideally to add a black - white bevel over the top of that in the opposite direction. I know you could just collapse the first style then add another one but I don't want to do that.
