Printing Resolution
I'm getting used to PS6, playing around with effects etc, but the one thing I struggle with is resolution. Every image I open is in 72dpi and although I know how to resize the image and change the resolution, it just doesn't seem to be right.
What I want to do is 1) get the image into 300dpi print resolution and then 2) resize it for printing.
Also, I know I'm restricted to the maximum size of print, depending on the megapixels of my camera, but are there any guidelines for this. I tend to take photos using a 3MP camera set to the finest setting.

Resolution - Printing
someone sent me a file with a resolution of 72. it is striclty graphic (not sure if that matters) but very colorful (kind of psychedelic looking). I have altered it and now want to make a poster that is in the range of 22x30 inches. when i printed it 6x8 it was incredibly vivid. when i am in photoshop and i change the image size and view actual pixels, it is also incredibly vivid. at 200 percent zoom it is still incredible vivid. **will it print to poster size of 22x30 and still be vivid at this low resolution?** **can resolution be lower for graphic files vs a picture from a camera?

What Resolution For Printing?
resolution (pixels/inch) of images in photoshop intended for print with an inkjet printer. Obviously, the higher the resolution the better, but there has to be a cut-off at some point (since infinity is not an option). So, what do you think the cut-off is to where there isn't a noticeable difference?

Canvas, Resolution And Printing
If I make the resolution of a photoshop document canvas 300 PPI (pixels per inch), will it still print out at the original dimensions I set the canvas to? I am asking because I tried a target canvas size of 594mm width by 841mm height on two separate photoshop documents, one at 300 PPI and the other at 72 PPI and it resulted in a huge size difference between the two documents targeted at the same image size. I want to know if they will print at 594mm x 841mm regardless of resolution.

Im printing this on an Epson Stylus CX4600. It supports 1440DPI Printing. Ive tried setting the resolution in photoshop to 1440 on the printer section (edit/preferences/units & rulers). Ive tried printing on photopaper, glossy photopaper, matte paper, and regular paper. Ive set the printer for best quality, normal quality and everything in between. But still everytime I print, it does not look as it does on the screen. It prints out fairly blurry, you cant read any text thats on it, except the top part, and thats even blurry.

Resolution And Printing With Out Interpolation
If I want to to print an image at a certain size in photoshop but do not want to have the image resampled up or down I can basically do this 1. go to image, resize and uncheck the resample image box and type in the resolution at which I want to print = lets use 300ppi just for kicks. 2. Now that will depending on the resolution of the image this will resize the photo the the max size that can be printed at that print resoultion- period. Then is the image is say 5x8 and I want to crop to 4x6 I can set the crop tool to 4x6 and leave the resolution fields blank, to crop with no resampling. Is this correct so far? Now want I need to know is how do you do the math to figure out max print size from a given resolution- if I have an image that is 800x640 say- how do I convert that to inches to see the max size that can be printed without resampling- am I just dividing both fields by ppi?

Changing Resolution Of Images For Printing
I have just started producing photo books, and I am very pleased with the results. But then I realised that I should have changed the resolution of the images I sent to the printing company from 72 dpi to 300 dpi. I have just sent another book with all the images changed to 300dpi which should be good. But ..... I didn't do anything with the "resampling" tick box - I just left it ticked (mainly cos I didn't understand it). Should I have unchecked the "resampling" tick box?

Printing / Resolution / Document Size
I was designing a membership card for a company and set a resolution of 300 and I can't remember what document size I set originally. Anyway, my sizes now are as follows: Pixel Dimensions: W 700, H 410 Document Size: 5.93cm X 3.47cm Resolution: 300 pixels/inch When I save my psd as any image type, my image is MUCH bigger than 5.93 x 3.47. How can I save it so that it is the size I want, but still the good image quality (resolution) and so I get the same size when I print it.

It's not printing to the edges of the paper (4x6) and the space it's leaving on all sides isn't even. If I choose borderless it's even worse and if I print a larger picture on 8.5 x 11 and pick center, it's not even close, I'm talking inches off.

Resolution?
Since resolution is such an important factor to whether a pic is sharp and clear, how is photoshop able to increase the resolution of the pic? From what I heard, the picture is broken down into more pixels when the resolution is increased. If so, how can it distort the pic? I also have this senario which I'm facing now... Since it's rather confusing, I have broken it down into Steps... Steps 1) Open picture A in photoshop 2) Transformed picture A smaller so that it is easier to work with (less lag) 3) I created some layers and merged all the layers together 4) Copy the merged layer into another Art piece in Photoshop 5) In the new Art piece, I transformed the merged layer back to the original size As I transformed the merged layer back to the original size, will it become distorted? Or will the resolution remain around the same?

What's the quickest way to replicate this? can I just create a new document at 300dpi and drag all my layers(except the pictures) into it from the low res one or do I have to recreate everything?

Resolution VS Size
A friend took a digital photo with his camera best quality, tiff, and PS showed it had a 72 dpi resolution but a big size: about 70 x 60 cm. (I don't remember the pixels size but it looked high). I thought the resolution was very low for obtaining a good print but it can be printed with good quality at a 16 x 20 in size. Which is the equivalences between resolution, image size and pixels size? How you convert one mesure to another? Can I forget about resolution and care only about pixels size?

Resolution Puzzler
I have a 120dpi image (image1) that needs to be 45 picas wide and 200 dpi. So I click off the Resample image button and type 200. This makes image1 a little over 40 picas wide. Not big enough. I thought I would try a different approach. I opened an image (Image2) that is already 200 dpi and 45 picas wide. When I drag image1 over to image2, my math tells me that image 2 would be smaller than image 1. But it's not! I have to scale the image down to the right size.

Picture Resolution
I reduced the size of a couple of pictures in Photoshop, but the dpi also reduced based on the size. I have saved the picture with this resolution. Now the problem is that when i am trying to get this printed, the website asks that the picture be atleast 300dpi to get quality pictures. I cannot not reduce the size of the images, as these pictures need to be embedded in a word file. My question is - if i increase the dpi for the existing saved pictures will it help or should i go about reducing the size of the original picture and also maintain the dpi right from scratch.

Reducing Resolution For Web Use
i'm just learning some basic 2d (i work mainly in 3d) and am in the middle of reducing/cropping some of my images so that they fit neatly on a web page. i have a couple of questions: 1. when i reduce (resample) an image, in the resample dialogue there is no easy way to just reduce by a given multiplier (e.g. 0.5) and at the same time, see what the resulting size will be. for example - i have an image that is 2592*1944 pixels. i would like to be able to enter a multiplier and see what the resulting resolution would be /before/ i commit to the new size. this is possible in a very old version of corel photopaint that i have and so my first question is can this be done in photoshop or do i have to resize elsewhere?

Resolution And Clarity...
I have been doing a lot of work on posters (24x36) and banners (usually 96x24). Both the banners and posters are viewed closely (within 5 feet) and need a good resolution for viewing and clarity. However, I have been working at full size with these images (24x36 @ 300ppi) and it can become painfully slow to do this. Do you have any suggestions for reducing the file size (or resolution size) to make the work process quicker without losing quality?

Image Resolution?
I have recently started stock photography websites as I am interested in pursuing selling my photography as such. A few of the sites I was looking at had requirements of 300 dpi. I assumed my photos were okay because I have a Canon Digital Rebel, but when I looked at the resolution in Photoshop, it was only 180 dpi. Well - so here I go and do batch processing to 300 dpi, and yes - I did this to all of my photos. Thousands. It took me a week during my spare time. Now I'm reading online that one should never actually enlarge their images - or "rezz them up" to larger sizes by selecting the "resample" box. Well - I did select the resample box. I didn't know! My question is this: Have I ruined my photos? Can I go backward? Can I repeat the process by selecting 180 dpi (which is what they were to begin with) instead of the 300 dpi that I changed them to? Well, I guess I know that I "can" do that, but is it unrealistic to presume that the images will be back to normal?
