Replacing One Fabric Texture/color With Another
I am looking to take an image of a seat and change the current material to a different material. The new material will be both a different color and a different texture so just changing the color with an adjustment layer will not work, but may be part of the process. I need this to look very realistic; complete with shadows and highlights.
Is there a way to take a sample from the material I want to use and apply it quickly? I have been using photoshop for a while now and can't think of a way to do this. I am thinking this may be a job for a different program, but if I can do it in photoshop that would be wonderful.

Coloring A Fabric - Color & Texture
I have a piece of fabric that I'm trying to colour with a variety of different light & dark colours (blues, yellows, reds, black, white, grey, etc). The fabric colour that I'm trying to fill is a light grey which shows the texture (shadows, pattern, etc) of the fabric. In the layers pallet I have the fabric layer set to multiply and placed above the colour layer so that the colour comes through. My problem is that I'm having some difficulty in colouring in the fabric. With lighter colours it's not a problem, but darker colours appear to saturate the selection too much which results in a loss of texture definition - the cracks in the texture appear that they are filled with paint. At the moment I have been playing with a combination of fabric layers set at different blend modes & opacities: multiply, screen & overlay which works to a certain extent but I'm not happy with the realism of the results especially for the darker colours. With that said I have 2 questions: 1. Does anyone have any good experience with colouring selections which maintain colour & texture accuracy (to see what I mean, design a shoe at NikeID.com). You can see how they colour a lace in a variety of light & dark colours accurately (accurate colours while maintaining good texture). More generally, what's the 'best' approach here to blend (or some other method) the full spectrum of light to dark colours? 2. Ideally, what colour should the underlying fabric be? (white, grey, black?) And why? I notice that it's easy to colour a predominately white fabric with light colours but increasingly difficult to colour the selection the darker the target fill is.

Painting / Replacing The Texture Of An...
I've got about 20-30 photos for a pottery distributer. The problem is, they don't have photos of the pottery items in one of the textures they carry. So, in short, I need to know if it's possible to do the following. Replace the color & texture of the fish pottery (on the right of the attached file) with the speckled texture of the pottery on the left. I've already isolated the image of the fish using the pen tool, and tried several blending modes. But nothing I do seems to look quite right.

Replacing Texture On A Blurred Area?
I was retouching a leather jacket last night and had to warp a section and then refine using the clone stamp. The end result is fairly blurry. I tried to "steal" the texture of the jacket from another section of the jacket but was unhappy with all my efforts. Mostly I tried the Pattern Stamp after using Pattern Maker, but this changed the color too much for my taste. Perhaps I was creating the stamp pattern incorrectly. I tried adding a little monchromatic noise, which was OK, but I'd rather get back that nice leather texture. Can anyone describe a method to "texturize" one area using the texture from another area?

Replacing Colors With Sample Color
I have scanned our baseball teams calendar schedule which has the days colored-coded; red for home games and white for away games. Also, they certain special home dates colored in a light blue. I want to replace all the light blue days with the same red that is already in use on the rest of the schedule. I can find no way to use the red as the sample color, or transpose the RGB values shown into corresponding Hue, Saturation and Lightness values used in the Replace Color tool. I do this every year and in the past I kept a old copy of Paintshop for this single task, but have finally deleted it and want to figure out how to do this simple task using my Photoshop 7.0.

Replacing Color Doesn't Work?
I have a background image that I made from some cloud effects and adjusting the levels....it resulted in black ringish type circles. I want to replace the black with red, but the color replacement tool won't work. I select black (and the little box that previews all the black has selected the rings) but everytime I select a replacement color, it just changes the lightness of the black...not to the red color I want. It's on RGB 16-bit color.

Auto Replacing All Colors In A File With Another Color Set
I have a vendor who only prints 8 specific colors. Thus, all my art must use 1 (or all) of those 8 colors. No overlays - just solid chunks of single colors. I get designs from customers that run the gamut of color. I'm wondering if I can do something in Photoshop to simply convert art of various colors to contain only the 8 "approved" colors. It would seem that it would have to somehow be intuitive. If RED is an approved color, but the customer provides MAROON, Photoshop (or whatever program) would change that maroon to red (instead of purple, for instance). But I'd be happy with even a simple method to do this. Thanks!

"color Replacing" An Index Colored Image
I'm using Adobe Photoshop 9.0 cs2 and I need help with a large color replacement project. I'm an amature video game designer making a level for the classic P.C. game Doom 2 and I'm creating a new weapon and monster for the level I'm creating. For the monster I plan to alter the colors of the frames of the original monster and change the dimensions of key features. use an indexed color mode that were extracted into individual .png files. Today I made the big mistake of changing the frames over to RGB mode so I can use the color replacement tools available in that mode. I should have done one frame first then convert it back to indexed color mode because the frames look terrible when converted back from RGB mode. What it is doing is using all the colors of the RGB color spectrum to replace various colors. Unfortunately what this means is that its using colors that are not in the color palette I loaded in the original pic and when I convert it back it looks terrible. There are enough colors in the doom color palette to produce the look I'm after but the automated conversion process from RGB to indexed colors does not pic the best matches in most cases. By doing this I am taking an image consisting of about 150 different shades of color down to about 75 different shades of color. I cant find any color replacement tools for indexed colored images and its going to take me forever to do all frames pixel by pixel so I need one of two things to be able to accomplish what I need. Either a better way of converting these images back, or some tool I can actually use in indexed color mode. If there is a way to select a pixel and change all other pixels of that exact color to a new color then I can just do it pixel by pixel that way. I need something here or I'm going to lose hours of work. If there is a way to load my color table into RGB mode to limit what colors it uses that might work too. I would just leave the pics in RGB mode if the game im editing for could use that format but unfortunatly anything I convert to RGB will have to be converted back to 256 colors for it to work in the game.

Displace Filter On Red, Green And Blue Fabric
I am trying to map hundreds of fabric pattern to a window curtain for catalog purpose. So I am thinking to shoot the displace map with white fabric so that the displace map will clearly distinguish between the black, gray and white. Then I took a step further, I am thinking to use a green fabric with red border on the bottom of the curtain so that I can tell photoshop to map pattern A with green and pattern B with red. However, I am concern that since green and red panel with shadow and highlight isn't exactly the same as white fabric with shadow and highlight; therefore, the displacement of the fabric pattern will be different between white background and colored background. How do I solve this? Is there any way to tell photoshop to convert colored fabric to a "white" fabric with all the shadow and highlight accurately represent?

Replacing A Sky With A New One?
I have a picture of a beach and sky, I want to replace the sky with one generated in Bryce, which I have already done. I used the Magic Wand on the beach photo in order to select and replace the sky but whenever I move the new sky in, it comes as a whole lock and doesn't just show through the magic wand selection I've created. I'm sure there must be a way to "replace" this sky. Can you help please. Secondly, I'm trying to add a plug in to the filters folder but the Edge Effect I downloaded was a "atn" file, all the effects seem to be "8BF" files, how can I download a plug in, there doesn't seem to be any other "atn" files.

Replacing Sky
I want to take the sky from one image and use it on another image. I can do this in Photoshop Elements just fine...but can't seem to get it to work in CS3. I open both images and select the image with the sky. I then use the Move tool to drag it over to the image I want to work on. The problem is, it moves over as a very small image and I can't figure out how to resize it. In PSE, it moves over and has the "marching ants" around the edge so I can grab a corner and resize. In CS3, there are no "marching ants" on the edge.

Replacing Text
I know to the decent PS user this is some pretty easy stuff but with my lack of knowledge and press for time, i need some outside assistance. I am making some changes to my site and trying to change the text on both a button and the rollover image of the same button. Right now both of them say "Products" but need to be changed into "Solutions" I'm no PS idiot when it comes to making new buttons but because the guy who orignally made the images only provided me with the .jpeg and not the PSD, i cannot make the changes seemlessly. Because i don't know how much time it will take to make the changes to both images (they need to be identical in both font style and placement (the "S" in solutions needs to end in the exact same place as the "S" in the oringal products). I am willing to constipate the kind fella who is willing to make these changes. (in USD of course!) via paypal. (If you wish ) I uploaded both the normal button and the rollover to tinypic. Let me know if you need another means of the image.

Replacing Picture With Another One
We are making drawings of a house (plan view) and we want to give texture to floors. We where wondering which way is best (cutting a part of a picture, using mask or using pattern). But the biggest problem we have is, we want to be able to easily change the chosen pattern with another one. For example we put a picture of tile of 30x30cm on the floor, but the client wants other tiles. How do we change the pattern with another one as easy and as fast as possible, because we have to make 20 different drawings. We should be able to attacht some kind of file and replace it by another one. Kind of like x-ref in autocad for those who know that.

I tried changing the brush size before putting them into the first but it didn't change the size of the eyes, it just gave more area around them.

Replacing Colour With Transparency
i've got a question: how do you replace a colour(in a gradient situation) with transparency, so the gradient portion containing that colour becomes semi-transparent with the other colour(refer to the attached jpeg)? I know that if it's direct gradient tool you can just change the gradient settings, but i'm thinking something like replacing the blue sky so the clouds remains there with gradual semitransparent edges.

Replacing Tile Around A Pool Under A Waterfall
For the orange ring pic: I was thinking about grabbing the luminosity of the waterfall and putting it above the replacement tiles. (Using various forms of blending.) here are the samples and what I did. (i know the tiles are not distorted properly. I was trying to get the see through effect of the water first.) I've never done this type of thing. (I've read about it before.) I want to make it look good since I won't be at this temp job long and I want to make a good impression. (So they will ask for me to come back later on.) For the patio pic: i'm not sure what to do about the shadows. I'm thinking of the same technique for the water edge. And I will be using 2 different tiles to replace the existing ones.

Tried all the erazer tools, selection tolls, well nearly everything, and am still not happy with result. As i mentioned before it could be just my lack of patience..does a procedure like this take long to do it properly, as im taking about 15 mins with no luck.
