Windows Always On Top?
How does one keep the windows / panels always on top? That is, when moving around images within Photoshop, I'd like it so the images are not able to cover up the panels / windows on the right side. I know my CS3 version did this automatically, but I can't seem to find a setting for this in CS4.

Cs4 + Windows 7 RC
I just installed the trail version of photoshop cs4 on the 64bit version of the windows 7 RC.Initially I had some problems, similar to when I tried to install it on Vista Home Basic 64bit (which is not supported by cs4 at all) The thumbnail was displaying correctly what should have been in the canvas, but the canvas area itself was not displaying anything other than grey.then I switched off the Windows 7 Aero theme and suddenly everything was working, which is neat. I would have liked to keep aero on, but whatever works...

Windows 7
I was given a couple of of Windows 7 release copies a couple of days ago by a Microsoft rep and I'm thinking of loading one on the laptop, at least, but I'm also considering loading up on the new desktop, but I was wondering how 7 addresses memory. I'm currently running 4 gigs of ram on XP Pro, but I can easily and economically upgrade to 8 gigs.

CS3 For Windows On A Mac
I need to load CS3 for Windows on my new iMac. I have Fusion, but I need to know if I need a specifically Mac version of Windows, or if I can install a PC version of, say, XP, once Fusion is in place. Any advice will be appreciated. Also, I find that PS 7.0 won't load on 10.5.6. Is this the way of things?

CS4 In Windows...
I have installed Photoshop CS4 in Vista Ultimate 32 bits, in the installation i don´t have any problems. When click to run Photoshop, Vista launch a message saing me to close de application, so i can´t start Photoshop. Then i update de drivers of my Graphics card (ATI HD2900), and i try to start photoshop with the new drivers. The photoshop starts without problems. I open it and i click in the right pane of styles, and Windows launch another message to close de application. After that i start Photoshop and i read a message that says that Photoshop have desactivate the aceleration of GPU because there were some problems. I go to the menu of performance in settings and Vista launch another message to close de application when i click in performance to open the settings. Then i try to open another time the application and i try to open a *.png image file and i paint something in it, then i click in the "X" to close, but the application doesn´t close (i prove with "X" of the application and with the "X" of the image tab). I have to close it with de Task Manager. Then i try to open a *.jpg image file and Vista launch another message to close the application.

Windows 7?
if I should go ahead and buy one now (Vista) or wait til October (Windows 7). Since I use Photoshop CS4 and Lightroom 90% of the time I'm curious as to what sort of communication takes place between Microsoft and Adobe as to program functionality. Do the large software providers get beta version so they can make any alterations to their software before the fit hits the shan? I know that there are always bugs with new versions of Windows, but I'd really hate it if PS and or LR just plain didn't work at all for any amount of time. Also, has anyone been using the beta version with either PS or LR, and if so,

Please rerun your monitor calibration software" The picture does appear to be light. I have adjusted the contrast, bright and everything else and it does not seem to have made any difference. Blacks don't show up as black they show up as a light black. Not a true white either. What can I do to correct this?

Opening Windows Behind
Recently my classroom of XP 64bit machines have been doing the following. Occasionally, when we click on preferences in the print window (CS3) the epson preferences window opens up behind all of the images on PS. Sometimes clicking on the PS desktop will bring it to the foreground, other times I need to find the window and drag it - still in the background - to a vacant area of the PS desktop. Obviously there is something going on between PS and Epson. Any ideas?

Migrating From Windows To Mac
I have lots of photographer friends who made the jump from a PC to a Mac, Adobe will do a one time switch for the cost of shipping the software. You must sign a Letter Of Destruction and destroy your Windows version of their software. I started all this on Nov 24th 2008, Adobe customer support claims no problem, just fill out the LOD and email or fax it to us. Well I did let it slip a little with the holiday and company. So I fax and email the LOD to them. Only to find out the customer service person pointed me the wrong LOD. So I start over and fax and email the right LOD. I wait and wait, I call back on Jan 2 and get the run around and am told to call back Mon or Tue, Jan 5 or 6th. So I call back on the 6th. The customer service person says, no problem, it was approved on Jan 2, so why could they not have told me that on the 2nd when I called. They tell me that that I should see the disks in 3 - 5 day, 10 at the very most. No software on Jan 16th, so I call back and again I am told to call back on Mon or Tue. So I call back on the 19th and spend 50 minutes on the phone. I should also mention that I was told to download the trial version of Photoshop and will have my discs in hand before it expires. Guess what, it expired on Jan 17th. So here I am, a professional photographer with no working software and who knows when I will see the Mac version of the Master collection.

Windows 7 Memory Use - CS-4
My XP machine is maxed out with 2 gig of chip memory (AMD dual core). Please, no laughing. It does run Photoshop CS 4 at an acceptable speed with 500 meg. PSD pictures. Apparently, there is a way to set up the system drive to dual boot to Windows 7 or XP with a "virtual hard drive" set up. How much less memory does Windows 7 use as compared with XP Home? With the early order half price for 7 Professional, it might be a way to give Photoshop some more memory (5%, 10%, 15%,?%) without having to get a new mother board and new memory chips at a far lower price. I am using Photoshop in a non-work environment. My full time job, hasn't given me a pay raise, in the last 8 years, that matched the increase in health insurance cost, I am willing to accept less than optimal performance boost at an affordable price. And, as I'm paying off a month old Epson 3800, every little bit of savings helps. I am aware that I might/will have to reinstall Photoshop under this set-up.

It Photoshop had a standard Windows 7 Aero title bar. Today it has no title bar, just a bit of space above the menu line. Bridge still has a title bar, however.

I've tried to search for the project by dragging the photoshop window out, in case it has minimized and been placed down thew bottom right hand corner, but found nothing.

Windows 7 64bit Cs4
*all* of my cs4 master suite works great - no issues on any app - except the 64bit version of photoshop... it wont launch at all - and yes i have the 11.0.1 update (adobe updater says everything is current and file properties verify new version on both 32 and 64bit exes) running as administrator doesnt help either. also problem occurs when win7 boots in safe mode. i'm running build 7100 of win7 64bit and have 6gig ram on an i7 system with a gtx 285 so i'd love to utilize the benefits of 64bit.... when i attempt to launch the 64bit exe i get an alert dialog error saying "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application."Â and that's it. never makes it to the splash screen or begins loading any dll, it's immediate error.... and like i said, 32bit version works fine from doing cursory google searches and whatnot, i am led to believe it may be a memory addressing issue which i've been unable to investigate or that perhaps my .net framework was out of date? but i checked the framework issue and win7 includes the newest version...

I got this in CS3, but always chose ignore, becuase everything always looked OK in other programs. Now though, this is not the case. how do I get the colour also to look correct in Windows? and the prompt which I ignored previously. and the calibration software from the manufacturer of my display is less than helpful, as neither "Natural Colour Pro" or Magic Tune Premium" do anything, that is, if I start the program from the start menu, they appear to do bugger all.

Memory- CS2 Windows.
if you have a large image open (15MB jpg from a digital camera) every time your do something to the image the memory usage for PS jumps by a couple of 100MB. Before long PS it using its max allocated memory (in this case 1GB) and from then on everything you do in photoshop crawls. Worse still, if you close the image (but leave PS open) the memory usage stays where it was and PS still crawls. The only "fix" is to restart PS.I've tried testing this on multiple machines and multiple images but the same thing keeps happening. Is there anyway to get PS to release the memory it's no longer using other than restarting it? Even if I clear the undo history it doesn't release it. This happens even if I just rotate the image a few times.

Upgrading Windows
I was planning on trying out the windows 7 RC on my laptop but had a quick question before i did. My laptops currently configured in such a way that i can install 7 as an "upgrade" rather then a complete new install, keeping my programs and files intact. However, I remember in the past from when I first installed vista, if i tried to launch photoshop from a different partition(eg, photoshop is installed on the XP partition but i'm using vista), it would fail with an error saying something to the effect that licensing had stopped working. Will this happen if i "upgrade", or should I just install 7 on a different partition to be safe?

7.0 On Windows XP - Lock-up
I am using Photoshop a lot for more simple tasks, like re-sizing pictures. Lately I have run into a problem: when I have opened a file and choose the Image/Image Size from the toolbar, Photoshop sort of locks up and will not let me make any modifications to the file. I can escape the lock by pressing the [Esc] button, but I am not allowed to do any re-sizing. At first I thought this had something to do with the layer being locked, but even when renaming or copying the layer, and unlocking, the same lock-up happens when I try to re-sieze the new layer! This is a recent problem, didn't use to happen, so I may inadvertently have changed some kind of setting in Photoshop. But a search in Help or this forum has not come up with any solution.

CS2 And Windows Vista 64 Bit
I have just loaded Photoshop CS2 onto my new laptop which has Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit as its OS. All working well except I notice that, when I made adjustments to a layer (for example, using curves to colour adjust,or even just brighten midtones),it takes a long time for any change to take place to the values of colour sample points which I may have applied to the background layer. I usually place four colour sample points on my background image to monitor changes as I make adjustments. When I used Photoshop CS2 on my previous laptop which had Windows XP as its OS,changes were instant. I have the cache level set at 6 in Preferences with 70% available RAM set.

Windows Print Comparision
I have been working on this for a while and cannot get what I want as printer output. I have a Pantone Eye-One Match3 terminal calibrator and I am set to luminosity of 120, Gamma of 32 and WP of 6500. My monitor is a Dell 2408WFP,24 inch. My printer is a HP Photosmart 8750. When I bring up a photo in Photoshop is looks great. I take my shots in raw, but my workspace is set up for RGB. If I open the same photo up in Nikon Capture 4, it looks the same as Photoshop. The problem is Windows and printing. If I look at the picture in Windows picture and fax viewer, it is too saturated. I get the same result when printing on the HP printer, even though I manage the print with Photoshop and use an HP printer profile for the paper that I am using. Any thoughts as to why the mismatch between Windows/printer and Photoshop/Nikon Capture?
