Contour Editor
We have this contour setting for almost all the blending options like dorp shadow , inner or outer glow etc ...I opened the contour editor where I can make my own contours by deforming the curve.I can see the horizontal axis repersents the input value while vertical denotes output value. I was wondering what these input and output actually are.If I could know what physically they represent then I can predict the result of different contours or cutom contours beforehand. So can somebody please tell me what they actually are in general so that I could predict the result of different contour settings?

Contour Lines To Follow Rolling Landscape?
I need to reproduce wavy contour (blueprint) lines which will follow the undulating landscape on a lot of images I have. As per the attachment, they almost have a neon glow and are in a grid format. I can do a grid but adding the wave filter doesn't allow me to adapt it to suit the pic.

Contour "Cut" And Paste
I just want to draw a simple line drawing, then cut out the contour of the drawing (not a rectangle) and paste it into PowerPoint. I want to create my own "clipart" that can be animated in PowerPoint -- without having the "transparent" rectangle around it -- because the "transparent" rectangle in Photoshop becomes a "white" rectangle when pasted into PowerPoint.

Drawing In PS
I'm starting a website and decided it was time to get into graphics design so I can make graphics for my site. I'm using photoshop (duh), how to draw in photoshop. A while back I was messing around in flash where you can draw and it will smooth everything out immediately after you stop drawing. I was wondering if there's a way I can have it do this in photoshop too, because when I draw using the pencil tool it gets all wobbly and crooked. If there's any way I can draw smooth lines without having to cut back on caffeine.

Drawing ?
how to use the shape & pen tools to draw simple vector illustrations that can be scaled up and down with no resolution problems. For example, I know how I could quickly make a moon like the one near the top left (use something like the pen or ellipse tool to create a white-filled shape, then put a black stroke around it, then adjust the shape's curves and points with the pen. It's easy because it's a completely closed shape. ----- Question 1: But what about the cloud next to it? If I followed the same steps as above, I'd create a shape with the basic outline, apply the black stroke, and be left with a completely white middle (instead of the desired curves that extend into the shape itself). How do I easily include that little detail? ----- Question 2: In the example image, there's a cloud with a lighting bolt. How would I make a vector version of a super-simple lighting bolt like that? It seems to me that I should be able to draw a line (with the line tool), add a couple of extra points on that line (with the pen tool) and then shift those points around until the line makes a zigzag. But it seems that when I draw with the line tool, it's actually making a very long rectangle (defined by four points, not two). That means that when I add points and begin dragging them around, I end up with a filled shape like a bow tie or something. But I just want a simple line that I can bend and add points to if necessary, not a full shape.

Drawing Lines - How?
I am quite new to photoshop and am working through a few tutorials. In one of them it asks me to draw a line. Now I thought this would be really easy. I clicked the Line tool and tried drawing it where the tutorial said, but all i got was a selected section and in the layers window it showed something about a mask. According to the tutoria it shouldn't do this. I undid it and tried again, still the same problem. I tried deleting the mask and the work area just goes black. Can someone please tell me how to create a Line without the whole mask businees. P.S: I am using Photoshop CS on Windows XP.

Vector Drawing
I have a minor problem - besides of not knowing anything about Vector Drawing, I also mostly use Linux at home. I have a font which I want to make part of a logo, however this logo can only be installed on Windows. So I tought of first converting the font into a graphical image (72dpi) and then import this in my Vector Drawing application (inkscape). However will I have a good quality logo like this. That is will I be able to change the dpi of the logo and not loose quality? Or the best solution is to always use the font directly in the Vector Drawing application? Btw- I understand here most probably everyone use Adobe Illustrator and I be more then happy with answers aimed for this application.

Drawing Tablets
I was just wondering how many of you use tablets to do your photoshop work. I think I have come to the point where I could really use one to enhance my abilities. I did a search on here and came up with the Wacom name and I researched them a little bit and it looks like they have a great product. But I'm not really ready to pay 100 bucks for the smallest one. I'm looking more in the range of 40-50 bucks tops.

PS CS4 With OpenGL Drawing...
I've just upgraded from PS CS3 to PS CS4 (default 32 and 64 versions) and I'm having problems with seeing image files above a certain size (even moderate size) with OpenGL Drawing enabled. Disabling OpenGL Drawing results in very slow image display (very easy to see the blocks being drawn one at a time), much slower than with PS CS3. I'm running Vista 64 with latest updates. I'm trying to get PS CS4 32 running properly first, but PS CS4 64 seems to be having similar problems. GeForce 9600 GT video card with latest driver 178.24 (updated yesterday and rebooted many times since then). That card is in Adobe's list of tested cards. Main monitor (where I display Photoshop images) selected as primary in the driver dialog. I put palettes/panes on my 2nd monitor. I use Ultramon for 2nd monitor taskbar functionality. Turning Ultramon off doesn't seem to help, although I may need to disable Ultramon from launching on reboot. No plugins installed yet in PS CS4 (32), as per Adobe kb advice. 4GB of RAM with Memory Usage set within Photoshop's Ideal Range. For testing, I've been opening a few different size (px and bytes) RGB image files in Photoshop by dragging them from an Explorer window into the Photoshop window, then clickin in the Photoshop window to make Photoshop active and show its palettes. First with OpenGL Drawing enabled in Performance, default Advanced Settings. JPEG, 3600 x 2600 px, 4.5MB - opens and displays ok (short delay before palettes appear) - zooms and rotates smoothly TIFF, 2 layers, 800 x 600 px, 16 bits, 2.5MB - opens and displays ok (short delay before palettes appear) - zooms and rotates smoothly TIFF, 1 layer, 3600 x 2600 px, 16 bits, 54MB - doesn't open properly, shows checkerboard instead of image, with checkerboard in navigator and layer icon in layers pane - histogram is fine - zooming and rotation are not smooth (jumps to new position/size) - duplicate layer caused PS CS4 to stop working, with a close program dialog - open PS CS4 32 again, no OpenGL message today, and OpenGL Drawing is still enabled (although I got the OpenGL Drawing message more than once yesterday) TIFF, several layers, 3600 x 2600 px, 16 bits, 306 MB - doesn't open properly, shows checkerboard instead of main image - icons in layers pane look fine, same as navigator image - checkerboard zooms and rotates smoothly - duplicate layer is still checkerboard, back one history state stopped working / close program dialog - started PS again, opened 1 layer TIFF, closed and tried to open multi layer TIFF again, but stopped working / close program dialog again I then tried the same images with OpenGL Drawing disabled in Performance. 3600 x 2600 px JPEG - ok, but slow, blocky redraw 2 layer 800 x 600 px TIFF - ok, but slight delay in redraw (smallest of all the files, both in px and bytes) 1 layer 3600 x 2600 px TIFF - opened ok, but slow, blocky redraw multi layer 3600 x 2600 px TIFF - opened ok, but slow, blocky redraw From what I've read in various Adobe kb notes, it sounds like there's some kind of conflict with my video driver, but I haven't been able to figure it out. I even tried the registry plugin from the Adobe kb to disallow OpenGL Windows, but that didn't seem to make any difference. It didn't even stop me being able to select and use OpenGL Drawing in PS CS4.

2d (CAD) Line Drawing?
I am currently working with an image that I want to have end up being a 2d line image in a CAD program (or illustrator, i can go illustrator -> cad) I started by using the cutout filter on the image, to make it have 4 layers. Then, I used the magic want tool to make each cutout layer its own photoshop layer. This is where I am stuck. I cannot figure out how to move forward from this. I tried putting the image into Illustrator, but when I get it in there, with the 4 layers from photoshop, I cannot get teach cutout "block" to be its own vector; it is just recognized as an image file.

Drawing Of Room
I am doing a Marketing Course at Uni and part of my assignment is to design a shop how we would like it set up. I have drawn 2 pictures (with Pencil and Paper!) looking down on the shop from a slight angle. Since doing this, our lecturer has told us that if we wish, we can use some software to also draw them, as long as we also hand in the hand drawn pics. As most of us don't know how to use Photoshop, we've been told that we can get someone to do it for us and we just have to make a note on our assignment of who drew them and what software was used.

Way To Do Some Anti-aliasing On My Drawing
I'm looking for a way to do some anti-aliasing on my drawing. I have a drawing that I scanned in and I cut out a few components of my scan in MS Paint. I did this by drawing the outline manually in one color and then coloring the background with that same color and then copying it with that color as the see-through color. The problem is that the contours look terrible on a black background since MS Paint can't help with anti-aliasing. Instead, I've got these cut-out drawings of objects with a thin white glow around them. That is, when I cut them out, it was extremely hard to move along the lines EXACTLY. I tended to cut more outside the lines than in, and so I took a lot of the white background with it. I need a way in PhotoShop to get rid of those white lines and then do some better anti-aliasing. How can I do this?

Using Open GL/ Advanced Drawing With HDR
I've just switched to using Vista and now have a new vid card (GTX285) so I'm using the OpenGL stuff for the first time. I can't get my head around how to use the Debugging section to get accurate results with linear data images. I'm looking at 32bit .exr renders and normally they have a gamma of 1 and I make adjustments in Pshop before going to 8bit, but how what setting in the Advanced Drawing settings can I trust? Depending on what I have set there the image looks very different, but also converts to 8 bit looking very different. What is the default workfflow setup that best matches what CS4 does *without* the OpenGL stuff active - but still makes use of the acceleration?

Drawing Arrows With PS CS2/Question
I'm stuck at doing a simple task with Photoshop CS2. I have a JPEG with many mountains in it that I want to label (name and height). So I use the text tool to create the names+heights labels and then I want to attach an arrow for each one. So I use the line option from the shape tool to do this. Problem is that it will draw the arrow, but there's no option to confirm it, so when I draw the next arrow the previous one is erased. So how can I confirm the arrow so that the next one can be drawn?

Drawing A Hole In A Wall

All I have done right now is added some cracks coming out of the object, but I just made the object black and put it on top of the wall, so it doesn't look like a hole, more like a sticker. Anyway, any suggestions on how to make it more realistic looking? I was thinking I might need to somehow randomize the outline of the object to make it look like it cracked through the wall,
