Copy/paste Shape Into SAME LAYER
I'm trying to make a compound shape by copy/pasting a shape into the same layer and using Add to Shape area...
the regular copy/paste commands aren't working and it needs to be in the same layer so Duplicate Layer won't do it...

CS4 64-bit - Copy & Paste...
I am running Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I am having trouble copying and pasting things. The issue is that after I copy something/Print Screen, it takes several pastes for Photoshop to finally realize the change. Basically, the first couple of times I paste, the thing that was previously copied gets pasted it. I don't know if it's making a difference but it switches the paste to the latest thing that was copied faster after I minimize and maximize back the program. It's extremely annoying especially because then I have to either undo each time/delete the layers. Plus, I do a lot of frame comparisons between different video sources and it's hard to tell whether the thing being pasted was changed or not.Â

Copy And Paste.
how I can simply copy and paste an area of an image back onto the same image? On my previous graphics software it was simply a case of highlighting the required area, click 'copy' then click 'paste' and bingo! To copy and paste on Photoshop seems much more involved including a number of complicated steps.

Copy & Paste
When i copy or copy merged and paste into a new canvas or layer, i get like a small Gradient round the sides of the image, the Gradient goes white. I know its a Copy problem because if i paste the layer selection into MS Paint it still gets that gradient around the sides.

Copy From Here...paste Over There?
So when you copy and then paste a selection, photoshop almost always pastes way far away from where I copied. Why does it do that and how can I make it stop? I commonly need to be able to copy something and then paste in the exact same spot.

Size Changes During Copy Paste?
size changing when I copy and paste a layer from one file to the next. I will use a hypothetical for an example but the concept and process has been confusing me on many projects. •Ok I have a new document blank page 5’’x5’’. •I would like to put a circle on there covering approximately 1/4. •I open up another file 2.5’’x.2.5’’. Place my circle on there going almost all the way to the edges. (lets pretend the circle is detailed and I do not want to resize it again) •I copy my circle, go over to the 5’’x5’’ image and paste. The pasted layer is always much larger then what it started. Not a 2.5’’ circle. I know about smart images and how to resize without distortion. My problem always occurs when I copy and paste. Well not problem but operator error.

Copy & Paste Problem
I am working with a PSD. I am trying to copy a rounded button from the PSD and pasting it on a new image so I can use for a website. The image needs a transparent background. So I delete all the background layers (so it's transparent) from the PSD and copy the button. I then paste the button on a new image with a transparent background. Everything is good up until this point. However, when I go to save the new image it blurs the rounded edges from the button. This makes the button look bad on the webpage.

Copy/Paste Icons
I've just installed Elements 2 after using Elements 1 for ages and have been used to the copy and paste icon in the top bar, but in 2 they're not there. Is there a way to do this, rather than use the Edit pulldown?

Exact Copy-paste
I have two png images with embedded alpha channel. It is wall (pic1), and it is wall's shadow(pic2). They positioned exactly as they should, but on different pics. If I select all area with wall picture (pic1), and copy past it to shadow picture(pic2) - wall appears at different, then original, location. So, basically, how can I copy/past wall into shadow picture, with the same position, as wall has on it own picture?

Copy + Paste In Exact Same Position
Have 2 files open with same dimensions. I have a little number on the first file I would like to copy & paste to the second. I want it in the same exact position on the second file as it appears on the first. I thought if you dragged the layer from the first file onto the second while holding shift key would do it, but it only places the number on the center of the page.

Copy And Paste Exact Sizes
Selecting and copying is of course trivial with the marquee tool. I have a single image; I wish to consider it as 5x5 and take, exactly, each of the 25 pieces separately. I cannot judge this perfectly by eye.

Copy Then Paste With Specific Position?
I'm batching my signature onto a bunch of photos at the bottom righthand corner. I put my preferences to percentage rather than pixels so I could try things for most sized-photos. My dilemma now goes like this: I record, open my signature, copy & paste to the other image (works fine). The signature shows up in the middle of the other image and rather than moving it manually where it'll be different for vertical and horizontal photos, is it possible to align right and bottom or get specific with entering numbers such as 90% horizontal and 90% vertical placement? Basically, when you copy & paste to a different open file, is there a way to specify exactly where it should go when you paste it, or do you have to manually move it?

PSCS Copy & Paste Powers Down Laptop
I have been having an ongoing problem with Photoshop CS & CS2 on my HP laptop which runs XP Home. Whenever I'm in Photoshop I can click "Copy" with no problem, however, the instant I click "Paste" - my laptop powers off instantly. It does not happen in any other program (Excel, Word, Illustrator, etc) - only Photoshop. The problem originally started when I had CS (yes,it was a legitimate version!). After buying CS2, I uninstalled CS and loaded the brand new legitimate copy of CS2,

Preventing Paste Onto New Layer
everytime I copy nd paste, it always adds to a new layer. This can be annoying because the new layer lacks the blending effects. Ive got situations where I have tried to copy and paste a section which has been floating as a layer with effects on, and it pastes down onto a new layer looking completely different due to no effects. Is there a way to paste back onto the same layer. Or even better, a way to disable adding a new layer each time I wanna do a new action. It is alright sometimes, but layers can get a bit crazy when I have one for each line.

Can't Copy Layer Set
I am trying to take apart this big graphic I made and it is "in pieces" because I made each part for it using layer sets to stay organized. I was trying to copy the layer set to another new file. When I did, there was nothing there! The layer set was there in the new file, the layers, the layer styles, but the layers were empty!

Copy To New Layer
Simple gray scale photo of kite in sky. The kite is not completely surrounded by sky, part of it is out of the shot. I want to make the sky flash the gray it is now to white(gif). I used the polygonal lasso tool to select the sky. I dont know how to copy it to a new layer so I can change the exposure and make one frame with the original layer showing, another with the exposed layer showing. After I select with the lasso, all the items under "layer" are grayed out including "new". I tried the new layer icon at the bottom of the palette but no go. The closest I have come is edit>copy but where to put it? Also, if I lasso the kite, isnt it subjective which is the background and which is the foreground?

Copy Adjustment Layer Settings?
I have an action that creates an adjustment layer (curves) which stops and prompts you to load the saved curves file. If I double click that step to edit, I can load the "saved" curves file and it will run flawlessly. BUT...if I move the curves file or share this action with someone, the action will no longer function since the saved path is incorrect. Is there any way to open up the saved curves file and just write that into the action? There are a lot of settings and I would have a very hard time recreating the curves adjustment from scratch.

Copy A Layer's Shadows To Another Layer
I have a layer that has the exact shadowing I want on another layer. Actually what I really want is to keep the image (colors etc) on one layer and just apply the 'shapes' and 'shadows' from another layer to it. I've tried putting the layer with the image I want to keep above the shadowed layer and creating a clipping mask and that didn't do anything. I tried changing the opacity of the image that I want to keep to like 30% and that works, but it fades it out too much. I tried creating a pattern with the shadow layer and applying it as a texture to the image layer and that didn't work well either.

It seems to disappear after the new layer is created. Is there a better way to accomplish this, what am I missing?

Shape Layer Has Pixelated Edge When You Zoom In
I created a Photoshop document, and selected the Ellipse Shape Tool. On the Tool Options Bar I selected "Shape Layer" I drew an ellipse, and a new Shape Layer was created. I then used the Zoom tool to zoom in on the edge of the shape. The path that defines the edge was a thin, sharp line. But the color at the edge of the shape has a pixelated, chunky look. Why isn't the color at the edge just as sharp as the path? Since the shape's edge is defined by a vector, I would have thought the color's edge would be sharp, not pixelated.

I did it in Elements but want to learn how to do it in CS2.
