Fade To White Edges
I'd like to have the border or edge of my picture gradually fade to white. What is he best way to do this. I tried to use a large airbrush with pressure at 50% and white paint. It's works but my hand is not too steady. Is there a more accurate way?

Fade White But NOT To Grey
I am trying to reduce the Opacity of some white text so that it looks faded. However I want the background that this appears on to be black. The problem is that it changes to grey the lower the Opacity. I understand that this is because of the black background but can not think how to get around the problem.

White Edges Around A Masked Object
I used a quick mask to remove a background from an image and when I place the image into Indesign CS2 (Using Photoshop CS2) I can see a small white edge around the masked photo. This is going to print at 2400 dpi four color and I don't want my customer looking at it and saying it's not up to par. Is there any way to remove the effect I described?

I have tried saving in a multitude of ways but cannot get those stupid jaggy edges to go away. Is it Photoshop, Acrobat, Publisher?

Smooth Edges, But Then Changes To Rough Edges When Saving
I tried the following in Illustrator, So basically, I created coloured text inside Adobe Illustrator and however much I zoom into the text, the text always appears to have smooth edges. Once I click on 'Save For Web', the edge all around the text becomes rough and aliased. I chose GIF and PNG, but it still happens. The text is on a transparency background. The same problem applies to images when I am creating a logo.

Fade Out
I am working on a header for a site. The left side image faded in nicely by layering it over black, lowering the opacity and blurring the right edge. I also sat the black layer a bit further in and blurred it to get a smooth edge. However, I cannot get the same look on the right side image. After about 2 hours trying, I am at wit's end. But I am still a newbie to PS and I have no doubt there is a better way to do this.

Can't Get White Color To Stay White...
I installed Photoshop CS4 and am using a Samsung flat panel monitor. I do web design and print design. Here is the problem: Web design:Color profile is set to Monitor ColorProof color is set to Monito RGBProof Colors is checkedWhen I save image through Save For Web, it looks fine in the preview box but in some browsers it has blue tint (even the white color now looks blue)I tried embedding the monitor coor profile into the exported JPEG and tried converting to sRGB and it always is a problem Print design:When I make a new CMYK document 300dpi the white now has a yellow tint. I tried to paint the entire image white (and the foreground color is clearly white) then go with the eyedropper it says its fff6db (yellowish)Proof Color: working CMYKCMYK Color: US Web Coated (SWOP) v2Color Managment Policies are all off What I want is an explanation of how I can make sure that the colors are correct on my screen such that what I see on the monitor is exactly what everyone will see on their browsers. And that there are no color shifts. I had version 6 at work and its fine, when I converted from RGB to CMYK the colors just got a little washed out but the whites remained white.

Does CS3 Do A Alpha Fade Like...
I want to fade a background texture so that it isn't so bold. In Flash I would do this with the alpha controls, but I Googled alpha for photoshop and it wasn't what I was looking for. I've tried playing with the partially transparent gradient, using mulitple layers, but I'm not getting the desire results.

Inner Bevel To Fade Out
The way the inner bevel fades into the background at the bottom. The way I have tried to approach it is to make a foreground to transparent gradient, then cut out the inner part and bevel the gradient and crop it. My problem is that when I bevel it, the outer edges turn just a slightly darker color than the background. So you see just a faint out line of the gradient box.

The image on the left is what comes out from the script & the image on the right shows how I want the reflection to fade into transparancy. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! P.S. I'm a Photoshop n00b so please try to be simple in the instructions. EDIT: I forgot to mention that the image needs to remain at it's original 60px × 224px, the fade to transparency cannot change the image size.

How To Slowly Fade A Photo Into Nothing
I want to use Vellum section dividers in my portfolio for the same reason everyone else likes them: they're translucence. Saba's Blog: arts, culture, visual material, and good readin' - The first 2 photos are Illustrator files. They have a solid white background and the black text. Then, I pasted the fading images. I made these images fade on Photoshop, by using the gradient tool, and setting the fade on top of a mask. But this doesn't work. It does not fade to nothing....but rather fades to white. I need it to fade to nothing so its somewhat translucent on my vellum. if print like this on vellum, the image won't fade into the transparent sheet vellum sheet, but would rather fade into a white square (which will print on the vellum and therefore not be translucent). When I make the image fade on Photoshop, I want to see the checkered pattern underneath, not another layer of white. Simply put, my image fades to white (the white layer beneath it). I want it to fade to nothing.....so i can paste it on something else, and can see through the faded, part to whatever is underneath.

Fade Two Sides Of An Image
I'm trying to create a header for a website, 500x100, that has a photo image, 300x100, in the center that has both right and left edges feathered. On the left edge it would fade to white, on the right edge it would fade to blue. Seems like I've seen similar things on other sites. First I thought I'd just place a blue rectangle on the right half of the piece and place the image over it in the center with both edges feathered. But if I feather one edge (with the gradient tool), trying to feather the other edge undoes the first edge's feathering. I still don't really get working with layers. Then I thought I'd just feather the left edge of the image and place a blue rectangle with a feathered left edge over the right edge of the image. But when I draw a rectangle, the gradient tool doesn't work and I can't feather the edge. If I select the tool and click in the rectangle I get a message that the content of the layer isn't directly editable and I can't figure out how to make it editable. At this point, I'm not even sure what method I should be using to accomplish this task. Should I be feathering one edge and blurring the other? I think I did get it done once before by starting with an image that had lots of extra height, feathering all 4 edges and cropping off the top and bottom feathered parts but this image doesn't have that much extra to work with. I'm sure these are stupid questions but the tutorials, tips and how-to's I've looked at always seem talk about how to feather one or all edges, not two. It doesn't help that I'm still not really familiar with all the tools and terminology. I would certainly appreciate at least a pointer to what methods I should be using. I feel like I'm trying to use a chisel as a screwdriver.

Fade Unsharp Mask
This tutorial applies the filter 'unsharp mask' on the 'stone texture copy' layer (pic 1). After that the same filter on the layer beneath 'stone texture'(pic 2). After this: Edit-Fade Unsharp Mask (pic 3+4). I'm doing exact the same steps but I don't get this 'Fade Unsharp Mask' but only 'Fade..' and this is greyed out. If you notice he uses the unsharp filter on the stone texture and not the masks. I tried this in cs3 and cs2 and both give the same result.
