Creating Jagged Image Borders
I am creating an image border using the rectangle marquee, and making it jagged by applying a Stylize > Wind filter to it. Using Wind there is no way to adjust the jagged edges, is there any kind of third party plugin that gives me more editing features?

How Do I Create White Borders Around Photos?
I have well over 100 old black and white negatives to scan for my wife so that she can put these old family photos in a scrapbook. She wants me to make these prints look like the old fashioned white-bordered with serrated edges. After scanning the negs and before saving them as jpeg files in photoshop...can someone please tell me an easy way to put 1/4" white borders around each print?

Jagged Edges?
When I want to delete the background and just have the object or person in the picture, I use the magic wand tool to delete the background then clean up with the eraser. BUT the outline of the object always looks jaggedy. This doesn't happen when I use photographs with the white background. Is there some sort of trick I'm missing? Or do I just need more practice with the eraser tool?

Jagged Fonts
i have a a problem i'm hoping someone can help me with. i've been using photoshop for awhile now and have had it installed on my computer for at least 3 years without problems. however, just the other day i've started having a problem with my fonts. whenever i use text, the edges of the text have a jagged appearance. they have a very pixilated look to them instead of smooth lines. i havent been doing anything differently nor have i changed any settings. this is happening with all of the fonts. anyone have any idea what's going on and what i can do?

EPS/AI Files Look Jagged When...
When importing an EPS or AI file and then rasterizing it (doesn’t matter what resolution) the image looks very jagged/pixilated… even and 600res - a lot mort than it should – or should I say used to when I imported. Did I accidentally mess with the settings? Anyone experience this?btw this website always seems so SLOW acting (for the past 5 years)

Jagged Edge
I want to create a ICO file from a GIF format image. It becomes ugly when I convert it from PSD to GIF, with a transparent background (fig 001.jpg). I want the edge of the circle smoother as it is in PSD file (fig. 002.jpg).

PDF Text Jagged
when viewing pdfs exported from photoshop cs4 using acrobat pro 9. If I open single pdf, it's ok, but whenever I open another pdf, all text is jagged. Then if I close all pdfs and try opening the second one, it's ok again. It looks like acrobat is not able to render texts correctly in newly opened pdf when another pdf is already opened. This happens only with pdfs exported from photoshop (file->save as->pdf). It does not really matter if the first opened pdf is from photoshop or not, all other opened pdfs from photoshop are crapy. I tried different settings when saving pdf but the results are always the same - jagged type (it does not even look like aliased, it's completely screwed and unreadable) in second pdf. It is funny because text present as smart object from illustrator renders fine all the time. Therefor I think the problem is between photoshop export and acrobat, vectors are rendered with no problems. I tried opening on different pc (also with acrobat 9 pro) with the same result. Systems are vista on exporting pc, the second pc is running windows7 beta. However on the third pc with windows XP and adobe reader 9 everything works fine.

Jagged Text
I created a new image 500x500 pixels at 72 pixels per inch resolution. However when I added some text to this image it came out all jagged and of poor quality. I then created a new image with a resolution of 300 pixels and the text in this came out perfect, however where in the first image the text was about 18pt in the second image I had to drop the text down to about 9 point to be the same size. What resolution hould I be using for web page design and how do I get around the poor quality of lower resolution? I expect some drop in quality but the text at 72 pixels was no where near usable.

The Jagged Edges
Yesterday I needed to design a quick business card for the band that i work for. It's super basic, just the band's logo on the front of the card and their web address on the back. The problem I had was that the curves in the logo were jagged and not smooth; I was only able to smooth the edges by adding a stroke to the logo. My question is, how do you make curves not look all jagged? This is the version of the card that is being printed so you can see the logo.

Edges Are Jagged When Importing To CS3
I have CS3 but just got the trial for CS4 now as well. I have been having a problem with photoshop CS3 for quite some while but accounted to Photoshop in general until I started using CS4 today. When I import a tiff (after working on the NEF/RAW in Nikon Capture NX2) into CS3, the image appears with very hard and jagged edges (eg. along the outlines of a face, cloth, etc.) instead of being smooth. In NX2, these edges are smooth, but not in CS3. Moreso, when viewing the same tiff in CS4, the edges ARE smooth and don't have this jagged or extra hard look. I guess this can also seem like it is extra over sharp. You can notice it at 16 percent, but also at 40 percent and more magnified as well.

Thumbnails Are Coming Out Jagged
I'm trying to take images that are about 300x300px and convert to 100x100px. When I change image size in PS and constrain proportions, the result is a jagged-looking image. The resolution is set to 72 px/inch and the Resample Image box is set to Bicubic. Am I always gonna have jaggies in this scenario and what can I do to make it look smoother? Also, does it make a difference if it's gif vs. jpg?

Aliasing / Jagged Text & Lines
I create text, Ctrl+T to transform, rotate. The characters look horribly jumbled like their baseline shift is all different. I really don't want to make my text rasterized and then rotate it because I'll probably want to edit it again. For small text I've tried cutting on/off fractional widths and different anti-aliasing modes and it doesn't really help. Also, sometimes when I add a stroke to rotated images, the stroke looks horribly aliased and jaggedy. I can't always work at 300dpi because many images are supplied at 72dpi.

Jagged Text In Website Design
I seem to be having a problem with jagged text when trying to design a webpage in PS. I have the resolution set to 72dpi because it is only for the web. However I have noticed that any text I add seems very jagged. I have tried applying smooth, criss etc which seems to fix it a little bit but not as good as it should. One strange thing I did notice was that I had added a text banner to my page which was jagged. Then later on I added another one and it seemed perfect. Im not sure what I did to the second one to make it better than the first lot of text I added.

My Curved Corners Are Always Showing Up Jagged In Browsers
I am using Photoshop 7.0 I am trying to create two simple rounded corner gif banners for a web page, but can't seem to get the corners "un-jagged". I am by no means an experienced PS user but here is how I go about it: I create a new image 830X40 pixels to fit my web page, fill it with a gradient fill to match the web page colors and then create another image at 50X50 pixels with 72 ppi resolution. On the latter image I draw an circle on the canvas with the elliptical marquee tool with anti-aliasing checked off and feathering set to 0 and fill it with the foreground color, then I draw a square on 1/4 of the circle with the rectangle marquee tool, copy that and paste it into the 830X40 image as a new layer and move it to its corresponding end. Then I erase just enough of the first layer to get my rounded corner. The process is repeated for the other end switching to background color to match the other end. I then choose "save for web" with all layers visible, and save it as a gif file called "topbanner.gif" with the transparency button checked and no transparancy dither. I then flip the whole canvas and save it again as "bottombanner.gif" with the same settings. The problem is it looks ok in PS, but when I view the page there is still somewhat jagged edges. (My monitor is set at 1280X960 32 bit color) I have played with the dithering options when saving as a gif, but to no avail. I have also used higher resolutions (eg. 100 ppi) for the circle image but that doesnt seem to help either. Should I be using image ready to do this? (which I know even less about)

Best Way To Select The Borders Of Face?
What is the best way to select round the borders of a face? I've been teaching myself to do this using the magic wand, but it's quite time consuming - lots of undoing, trying different tolerance settings, zooming in/out, using polygonal lasso to 'add to selection' the deselected areas etc Because the hair is dark and the skin is light it seems like quite a long process? So I'm wondering if this is the best way, and how the pros do it? eg Would they just manually draw round the edges?
