Printing From An Action In PS4..
I have a new printer and recently upgraded to PS4 from PS2.in PS2 I could run a batch action on a folder of thumbs sheets and they would all print... not it stops at the print dialog box... any suggestions? I have to create the action in PS2 as PS4 was not cooperating.

PS CS4 GPF When Printing From An Action
I have two printers, so when I'm batch printing I run an action which I recorded, one step of which does a Print Setup to select the correct (normally non-default) printer. If I've done this manually once then all is well, but if I forget to do it then Photoshop will GPF when I run the action.

CS4 Printing In An Action Creates A...
I have CS4 on a Windows platform, as a trial. I wanted to see if the printing issues that keep me from using CS3 in production were solved before I bought it. Pretty much right out of the chute, I ran into problems. I use actions to get photos formatted to print. The action at the end, it calls Print (in CS2 was called Print with Preview). This Print step is done with modal control to allow different printers or settings to selected. This action works fine in CS2 and in CS3. In CS4, the print comes out as a negative image. I have deleted the step from the action and re-recorded it in CS4, still comes out as an negative. Interestingly, if I use a CS2 Print command (not the new Print Preview version) in the action, then it works fine. The problem is extremely repeatable in different action or to different printers. If I disable the print step in the action and just print it without the action, it works fine.

Tile Printing With High Resolution Printing?
i have an image that is 28' wide by 60' high. i have to tile print it, but i have to print it out on film (see thru acetate). it has to be able to print at 1400 dpi. i know how to print at 1400 dpi on adobe photoshop, but i dont know how to tile print on that program. i have the image now in illusrtator, because it lets me tile, but i cant get it to print out for film (1400 dpi). im using a epson 1280 printer. i really need to be able to tile print this in high resolution on film. anyone know what i can do??

Photo Printing - Not Printing To Border
i've tried both borderless and non, I've also realigned by cartridges and updated drivers and program. When I'm printing with Photoshop CS, didn't do it on 6.0, it's not printing properly at all. It's not printing to the edges of the paper (4x6) and the space it's leaving on all sides isn't even. If I choose borderless it's even worse and if I print a larger picture on 8.5 x 11 and pick center, it's not even close, I'm talking inches off.

No Action In My Action
i am trying to build an action where the end product is a channel listing that has all the channel (R-G-B-L-C-Y-M-K (forget LAB a-b)). this will allow me to look at all the channels for contrast and subsequent extraction. i'm actually able to do this as i RECORD the action. but when i RUN the action, nothing happens. in recording the action, i create a DUPLICATE IMAGE, then convert the new image to LAB. i then drag the "L" channel to the original image. it goes into the original image as an alpha channel which i rename to "Lightness." i then convert the duplicate image to CMYK and then one-by-one DRAG the individual channels to the original image. at the end of this process, i have all eight channels visible in the channels palette. this is what i want. but then, when i RUN the action on a new image, the action fails to RECORD the "drag step and drop" step. the "L," "C," etc. channels are not dragged during the running of the action. why does the "drag" step not record in the action

Action
Hue/Saturation and Brightnesss/Contrast are steps in my Action. I always pause the action so that i can put in unique paramenters for each image. But before i get to the actual H/S or B/C action, a "New Layer" dialogue box pops up first. I never name the new layer so this is a wasted dialogue. is there a way to skip this step and pause only in the H/S or B/C step itself? I am trying to streamline my workflow by eliminating useless steps.

Resize Action With Pdf
I'm currently having problems with the batch feature regarding pdf files which I can't figure out. My main task is to automatically resize several (50+) pdf files in a folder, save them for web as jpg and then close the original file without saving it. I've tried to make an action for this, but I only end up getting errors or Photoshop trying to overwrite the same file all the time when saving the images. I did manage to make a successful action which worked as batch if I had all the files open in Photoshop, but that's not really what I'm after since I then have to open all the 50+ files first manually. What I would want is for Photoshop to go through all the pdf files in my source folder - resize them - save for web - close original image wihtout saving. I'm currently using Photoshop CS2 if that's any help. Is there anyone who can help? A step-by-step solution would be greatly appreciated!

Using A Brush Within An Action

EPS Files To JPG Action
Having problems converting about 2000 EPS files to JPGs. First off when setting up an action to import, colour correct and save as a JPG, it keeps asking for the size and dpi - no matter how I save it, it always wants to import as 72 dpi when I need 600dpi. Is there any way around this so that it remembers that it is 600dpi that I need to save it as? Also when using the action it keeps asking for the dpi/size - if I was to use the "Override Open" command it loses its shape and imports as RGB which I dont need as it *has* to be CYMK. Is there any work around for this?

Edit An Action?
I have recorded a fairly complex action in photoshop but I could do with changing a couple of parameters in some of the steps. I can't see how I can edit the values. I can view the figures used but I cant change them. It took me ages to record it and I'd rather edit it than have to take a change of getting everything right next time.

Error With An Action
I have created an action to put a little icon in the bottom left corner of any image and size and orientation. Works fine on a single image. When i try to batch it through Bridge to do several images it fails. Any ideas why or how I can go about troubleshooting this problem? I have tried removing actions withing the script (action) but then other weird stuff happens. Why would it work on a single image, or any single image for that matter but not when using it in a batch.

Creating Action
I am trying to do the following: I have a bunch of huge 5.3 megapixel pix on disc. I want to create an action that: 1. opens all the pictures on the disk 2. resizes them 3. applies USM 4. then saves them to a different folder on my HD I tried to create the above action and it goes through the steps but does not resize them. What seems to happen is that it opens the first picture and performs the command but subsequent files opened do not resize etc.. I'm using Photoshop CS 8.0

Duplicating layer, top layer set to multiply, using a layer mask, brushing with black to bring back the foreground (keeping sky dark) then flattening and saving to folder. When I try to automate this action over an entire folder all that happens is that the entire image is darker as if the mask did not work...

I work sometimes for a press agency. They use the IPTC informations, and put them in the picture too. Action: Save As
I have a question about actions. When I create an Action that involves File, Save As.. it hardcodes the directory name I was using during recording. I want it to use the same directory as the open document. Is there a way to do this? I.e., when I record the action on the file /path1/xyz.psd, and then try to run it on /path2/abc.psd, it will save the document abc.psd in /path1 rather than /path2.

Text In An Action
I’m trying to create an action to resize my images, convert to rgb, add some copyright text and save it. The problem is when it gets to the text part it stacks the text one letter on top of another. Very frustrating... I have a powerbook 1.33ghz with osx 10.3.8 running Photoshop CS. I tried all the usual suspects (pref, plist, fonts,info window, reset tools, etc...) I then created a new Mac OS account, downloaded a trial version of PS so it was completely fresh (except for my computer’s OS) I then created a new action in the new PS with the new account. Same thing the text stacked (This is just the action, the type tool after it is reset works fine.) I then whipped out my credit card and called adobe (not happy about not being able to fix it myself.) $39 dollars later, I talk to a very nice tech support guy. We isolated the problem down, created a new action with the default text settings ‘typing the word “test” in the middle of the image.’ I then ran this on one of my images, same thing text stacked. I then created a new blank document (5x7 at 300ppi) and ran the action, this time it worked. While the tech guy went to ask someone else a question, I made a new document that was 600ppi, not 300ppi, and ran the action, the text was stacked. When I told the tech support guy this, he tried it on his computer and had the same results. I asked what to do and the tech support guy said I should use two actions one to resize and one to add text. That stinks, I regularly work on hundreds of files at a time and running multiple actions on the same files is very time consuming.

I am having problems using a batch action (I haven't used one before) I'm running a simple action, it rotates the image (almost all my photos are portrait format) then does a curves and sharpen. My problem is it doesn't save the images, I created a temp folder on desktop and specified that, but it opens the image runs the action then opens the save dialogue box I have to click it to save every image, I can't get it to save for me.

Re-sizing Action
I have created an action to re-size images as I have 700 to do. BUT when I try to batch process I keep getting the Jpeg option box open to set image quality. This only happens when trying to batch process original straight out of the camera images. If I try to batch already saved images it works ok. Does anyone have any idea how to get around this? PS CS3 - Any Action Make 100% CPU And...
I have PS CS3 on Win XP SP2, 2 GB RAM, nVidia geForce 8500GT with updated drivers. Until 2 days ago everything was perfect (smooth movement and action in PS CS3). Suddenly every move I make (draw a simple line, move or resize window, painting with paint brush etc) become very choppy and fragmentated and CPU raise instant to 100%. I uninstalled PS CS3 and reinstalled again, but with no luck. Any ideea about what is happening here? Thank you! PS: Other programs like Fireworks, Flash, Illustrator etc work very nice and smooth with maximum 20-30% CPU usage.

I figured out what the resolution is. Problem was with keyboard drivers. I unistalled the drivers and then updated them and that seemed to resolve the issue. All actions are back in working order.

LZW Compression Action
I need to create a Batch process that takes a directory full of sub-directories (which contain uncompressed Tiff files)and re-saves the TIFFs with LZW compression in the same directories WITHOUT creating any new files. My problem is that when creating the action the only way I can save with LZW compression is by using the "Save as" option. This creates new files and when I run the action it dumps all the files in whatever directory I am saving in while creating the action, instead of saving them in their original locations.

Batches In One Action
I'm a photographer and would like to do 3 batches for 3 folders (I do photokit creative sharpening so I have 3 folders for the different sharpenings each) I'm also a bit lazy and would like Photoshop CS to do these batches automatically without me having to go through the menu each time to select the "new" folders that should be batched. For this purpose I wanted to define the 3 batches into one action. How To Record An Action That Saves In...
I made an action that I have to use for many images. The action creates an image, saves it, then closes it. The problem is when I try to run the action, it saves over the previous image. Using Action And Batch To Reduotone
Hey guys, I am working as a volunteer designer with an organization that publishes a guide listing sponsors that donate services of financial support. This guide is duotoned, and the colors of the duotone will vary with the season - light and dark blue for winter, light and dark green for spring, yellow and red for summer, etc. the colors for every season is different, and all of the graphic elements in the guide must be reduotoned to match the color scheme in order to be printed properly. I have been running into problems. I want to use the action and batch utilities in Photoshop in order to change the duotone colors of the pictures, but I want to keep the levels graph for each file. I don't want to change the levels graphs for each file, I just want to change the duotone colors I have been doing the following: 1. collect all graphic elements into a folder. these are all .eps format, and have been duotoned already. The darker pantone is the first color listed, the lighter pantone the second as a standard, so that the colors won't be assigned to the wrong levels graphs through automation. 2. Open one of the files. create an action and record image->mode->duotone, and change the colors of the duotone. stop recording. Close the file without saving. 3. go to file->automate->batch..., select source folder as in 1., select destination as another folder (empty). select action set and action as in 2. The pantone colors are changed properly. My problem is the following: the levels graphs for each of the files being duotoned are changed to the graphs that were present in the graphic that I used to make the action. Is there a solution to this problem? I don't have any real experience in writing scripts for Photoshop, but am willing to learn if it is not too complicated. I have photoshop 7 at home and CS2 at the office.

Stop Action In Save For Web
Is it possible to insert a "stop" in the action for save for the web, just before actual save. Basically i want to be able to name my file manually (use distinctive names), but just to automate the picture size option and quality (which don't change). I know that i can write an action for an image resize and than save it with my desired file name, but i was wondering if i can do it all in "one shot" without the altering of original image.

Edge Detection Action

Batch Action Support
I need to change the size of 200 pics, then save them for web at a certain format. Problem is, that right now the batch saves the pics I want with the name I used previously, when I created the action, while I am actually aiming for it to save the file (in a new folder) with it's own name, so it would not have to ask me to replace the existing file.
