Image Distortion
I recently installed an upgrade from CS2 to CS4 on my Vista laptop. It is fully registered and updated. I seem to be having an issue with Photoshop. Any file I open, jpg, psd, pdf, etc. opens with lines and squares all over the image. I can't quite figure out what could be causing this. I thought maybe video card, but it too is current. I have included a picture to display what I mean.Â

Image Distortion ...
I'm creating some website banners. They're beautiful. When I save them and open them, they look great. When I link to them on the web, they look awful. They're distorted - badly. I've rebuilt the images several times and each time, I get the same result. Is this a resolution issue?

Seperate Image Resize And Image Compression
I have completed a project and I need to verify that, based on what I implemented, image should be resized but quality of image (both JPEG and GIF) should not be reduced. My question is it possible to verify the result using photoshop or some other tools? How? My college said it is hard to check if an image looks different because of image resizing or because of quality loss or because of both. He said I have to create some log files to trace the result. It is a little too much work for me.

Resize Raw Image
The raw image, in PSCS. is so large when I open it up that I don't see the controls at the bottom or the sides other than the eye dropper, magnifier and hand on the left side? My intial reaction was to take the magnifier and decrease it, but that didn't help me see any controls.

Resize Image In CS2 Or CS3
I can no longer simply type in a new image size using the same method I have used for years--did Adobe change this with a update download? The only way I can now change the image size is by using the up/down arrows.Running WindowsXP--I have both CS2 & CS3 installed.

Batch Image Resize
I tried to build an action to scale a batch of images by 75%, but when I actually run it, it plugs in the inches from the file I built it on. So the image I built the action on ended up 8.25" wide, but it's a portrait. If I run the same action on a picture that was taken in landscape mode, it doesn't scale that image by 75%, it scales it to 8.25" wide. How do you force a scale by percentage instead of absolute measurement?

Resize Image Based On Data Within?
So here's the problem. I managed to delete a photo from my digital camera. Now I need it back. I recovered the file, but strangely, it's not actually recovered. Now, I know file recovery is hit and miss, and since this was a photo from the camera itself (not a memory card), things get more complicated. Anyway, I manged to get back the photo...sort of. The file I now have is 160x120, instead of the 3040x2288 it should be. Now, if this was an actual thumbnail, I would expect the file size to be pretty small. Instead, this little 160x120 image is 2.16MB. This leads me to belive that somehow I can get the real photo (or at least something better than the little image) back from the file. There has to be a reason for that much extra data, right? Does anybody know how to do this? I figured Photoshop might have some advanced sort of raw file reading or some sort of rebuilding/recovery. Alternatively, someone could point me to a good recovery program (or even some other way to do this). If it helps, the camera that the file came from is an HP Photosmart M627.

How To Resize An Image But Still Keep Alot Of Detail
Im creating some textures for a Maya project I'm doing. The images I have right now are .psd's at 1024,1024. Im finding out now that the res might not be high enough to produce good results in maya. So I want to double the texture file to 2048,2048. But I dont want to lose any of the current detial or have it start to wash out and/or become pixelated. Is there a,filter, tool, plugin, or anything that could atleast aid me in keeping some of the detail? Thanks for all the replies.

CS3 Action To Resize Image (landscape...
I find many references on the web to CS3 actions for resizing images. But I haven't found anyone dealing with the problem of the image orientation (landscape or portrait). I want to have an action to resize an image to 72dpi (or 96?, which is best?) and constrain the width/height to 1024pixels. How can an action determine whether the image's orientation is landscape or portrait?

Drag Resize Doesn't Resize Dual Brushes
It has come to my attention that the new drag-resize feature only changes the master diameter of the brush but leaves the dual-brush diameter intact. It is the only shortcut that does this resizing improperly. I would like to know if everyone else experiences the same problem. Is it a bug or is this way of resizing intended? I mainly do digital paintings and this small bug makes the feature useless for me. I hope that it will be fixed at least in cs5.

Batch Process To Resize Image But Limit...
I'm trying to create an Action that will resize images to a constant and absolute width (600px), and save as a JPEG with a filesize of less than 160kb. I've tried Image>Image size... and Save for web with only partial sucess. Image Size does not allow you to set the filesize as a parameter - you can only set the dimensions and resolution and hope that it comes out under 160kb. Save for Web does have an optimise feature, which does work for an individual image, but not for a batch. The optimisation is done by adjusting the quality of the jpeg, but when you save this as an action, it does not record this as "optimise the image for 160kb". Instead it saves just the quality % used when recording the action. Any other images processed by that action will just be saved at that %, regardless of their filesize. Is there a way to write the action so that Save for Web will dynamically optimise each image? I'm using CS3 Extended.

Batch Image Resize From One Size To 3 New Diff Sizes, Possible?
I got stuck doing a grunt job for the company I work for. I really need some automation to get this done faster. Problem: I have multiple folders.. in each folder contains a small image called 100x100.jpg I want to run a batch process using a created action to take the above file and instantly resize it 3 different ways and save all three files. I created an action doing the resize 3 times.. I made 120x120.jpg, 90x120.jpg and 88x88.jpg from the first one so now there's 4 files in that folder. Imagine having to do this manually for 30 websites, 30 folders each. So, I keep getting the REPLACE FILE? popup.. it worked fine when I did it recording the action. But when I run the droplet or batch, it won't write the files to the folder and seems like its replacing or trying to overwrite something.. doesn't make sense.. and I need to do it recursive style.. all folders inside one root folder.. so the batch operation should go into all folders, resize the image creating 3 new ones, for each subfolder.. saving them in their respective folders, NOT a new destination folder.. again, each 100x100.jpg has its own folder, there's 30 folders, each with one of these files in it.. diff pics of course, just same filename.. Please, if someone can give me a step-by-step to try, I'd truly appreciate it.

Wave Distortion
two things: I'm using CS3 on a PC. I'm using the wave filter to distort an image. writing down all the characteristics ie, # of generators, wavelength, amplitude, scale ect. Is there anyway to recreate that EXACT wave pattern on a particular image once I've left the program? It seems to generate another algorithm even if I input the same numbers. Also, I'm distorting an image at 72dpi as a test. When I replace the image with an exact replica at 300dpi and apply the wave distortion, I'm unable to get even remotely the same results. the wave patterns are much tighter. I've moved around all the characteristics with no result.

Now, when I attempt to "Save As", wheather it's a GIF or JPG and try to view it outside of photoshop such as in Frontpage or wherever, my grays turn to shades of blueish hues. Now it looks ok with the blues but i really want it to be gray, becuase that was what was inteneded. I checked the color mode it's RGB 8 bit (16 bit is grayed out) that's it.

How To Create Lens-based Distortion?
With any lens, there is an inherent distortion. I've seen grids at photozone.de in their lens reviews. If possible, I want to use Photoshop to create the same distortion my lens would create. For example, if I photograph a sheet of graph paper, the result would be a distorted grid. Can I get photoshop to take an UN-distorted grid, and distort it in the same manner? How complicated is this, if possible?

Wave Distortion Playing Games With Me
I've been working on a new website and came up with something pretty clean/simple which I really like (so far anyways). I was just getting it ready to show to the client, and I ran into some trouble. Every time I go to export it (I've tried restarting it a few times to see if it helped, didn't...this is save for web btw) I get these waves of color where there shouldn't be any. Check out this link to see what i mean. I'm curious if anybody knows why this is happening, because I've tried playing with all my export settings and I haven't gotten very far. I've tried flattening all my background layers which are involved with the color, still nothing.
