Checkbox/Option Forecolor With Manifest

Hello guys!
How can I change the foreground color of a checkbox/option button when using manifest files? Without the manifest it works fine (just change the Foreground property), but when I use the XP visual style the foreground color is always black.
Is it possible (without adding a label next to the checkbox)?

Thanks
Fergo

Can't Change Checkbox Forecolor
Hi

I'm trying to develop an application using XP Styles (InitCommonControls, the manifest file and that stuff).

However, I'm not able to change the checkboxes forecolor. It remains black, no matter what color I try to set. This happens both in checkboxes contained in pictureboxes and contained in a form.

Can this be a bug? Have any of you experienced something like this? Any solution?

Thanks in advance

Passing Checkbox/option Button Values Between Forms
Hi, I'm new to VB and was hoping that someone could answer this for me.

I've never written a VB app that used more than one form until now. I want to add a second form just for program settings that has some checkboxes and option buttons on it. The thing is, I can't figure out how to pass the true & false values of the checkboxes/option buttons from the 'settings' form to the 'main' form. I'm guessing this has something to do with variable scope, but I'm still having trouble with it.

If anyone could help with an example or an explanation I would appreciate it immensely =)

Adding Backstyle Property To Checkbox And Option Button
hello,

I am trying to make the background of the checkbox and option button transparant (they are situated with other controls in a transparant frame over a nice picture). Unlike other controls, these 2 controls don't have a backstyle property, so i was thinking to add this property by making an activex control based on these 2 controls. I have searched the internet for such a control, but i didn't find anything. i am working with visual basic 6

so, does anyone has an enchaced checkbox and optionbutton and can u send it to me? (wodkaorangewithlotsofwodka@yahoo.com)?
or can anyone explain how to add the backstyle property to these controls with activex??

thank u

An Option Group With Option Values From A Field
All,

I'm using an Access application that I want to make more user capable. I want to have a form that uses an option group that has its options dynamically generate from values in a field. In other words, I have a field that says ItemID, which contains a number of values that change from time to time. I want to feed those values into my option group so that a user can see what ItemIDs are available for selection and allow them to "select" them in order to perform some type of function on their selection. Any thoughts?

How To Select An Option From An Option Box On A Webpage Using WebBrowser
I know that if I have a WebBrowser control and I navigate to a certain URL I can manipulate certain fields on the page form.

For example, if there is a text box on the form and it has a name say "user" then I can do this:

WebBrowser1.Document.All("user").Value = "James"

but how do you do an option selection? Say the option box on the form is this:

<select size="1" name="Color">
<option>--Select A Color --</option>
<option>Blue</option>
<option>Red</option>
<option>Yellow</option>
<option>Black</option>
<option>Green</option>
<option>White</option>
<option>Brown</option>
</select>

and I wanted to select Yellow from the list. What is the correct code line to do this?

WebBrowser1.Document.All("Color").??????? ?????????

Checkbox = True For Only 1 Checkbox In A Group
With the older versions of Word, I used to be able to put a couple of check boxes (Very Good, Good, Poor) in a group after a question and make it that only one of the boxes could be true for each question in a survey. Now in word 2002 I tried to do it and can't seem to find the group option. I have been away from this type of work for a long time and wonder if it can only be done via code now?

If you can point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

Thanks.

CheckBox In Access To CheckBox In Word
I have check boxes set up in Access and I have corresponding check boxes setup in Word. I am using the following to get the text boxes to transfer to Word:

Code:
Set MyObject = GetObject("c:access testP742001-01.doc")
MyObject.Application.Visible = True
If Me![TITLE] <> "" Then MyObject.Bookmarks("Text1").range.Text = Me![TITLE]
How do I do the same for the check boxes. I have tried to search this out. Trial and Error has not proven successful either.

Thanks.

Displaying A Checkbox In Access As A Checkbox In Vb
The checkbox in access is called Completed. i am trying to populate a datagrid based on a SQL statement in VB, including this checkbox, but in the grid, it is only being displayed like a text field - is there anything i can do about this? here is my code for it - any help would be appreciated!

Dim checkSQL As String
    checkSQL = "SELECT OrderGenerate.OrderNumber, Client.Company, OrderGenerate.Completed " & _
                " FROM Client INNER JOIN OrderGenerate ON Client.ClientCode = OrderGenerate.ClientCode " & _
                " WHERE (((OrderGenerate.OrderDate)=" & dToday & "))"

Res With Manifest
Well Basicly I got the XP theme Manifest wich looks like this

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
<assemblyIdentity
version="1.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
name="CompanyName.ProductName.YourAppName"
type="win32" />
<description>Your application description here</description>
<dependency>
<dependentAssembly>
<assemblyIdentity
type="win32"
name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
version="6.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"
language="*" />
</dependentAssembly>
</dependency>
</assembly>
And when I use

Code:
Public Sub LoadDataIntoFile()
On Error Resume Next
Kill (App.Path & "" & App.EXEName & ".exe.manifest")
Dim myArray() As Byte
Dim myFile As Long
myArray = LoadResData("MANIFEST", "FILES")
myFile = FreeFile
Open (App.Path & "" & App.EXEName & ".exe.manifest") For Binary Access Write As #myFile
Put #myFile, , myArray
Close #myFile
End Sub
It comes up with an error next time i try running the program, I took a look at the Manifest file before and after and it seems the only difference is that when it uses the PUT it seems to append an extra blank line at the end of the file which in result basicly corrupts the format and gives me a Nice error trying to load the Manifest file. Anyone know a workaround for this?

Manifest
I tried to do windows xp styles..but yet to understand how to apply it...I added the file to my directory of my program but nothing is happening.

Using A Manifest
I'm not really making anything right now, i am just tinkering around with
a manifest file. After about a day of trying to get it to work (with no success)
, i did some more research on it. I discovered that that manifest only works
with vb6 when the user uses the vb5 version of the windows common controls.
I also noticed that everytime i threw a command button on the form
and compiled the source code, i got an error right off the bat. (System Error
&H80070583 (-2147023485) Class does not exist)

I guess my questions are, is there a manifest file that will work with the vb6
version of the windows common controls and why do i get a system error just
by adding a comman button to the form?

Manifest
I was wondering are there any manifest files for vb6. Like a XP manifest or something??

Manifest
I tried adding that text file, and then 24,1,1301..but whenever i try and run the .exe it just makes a error noise and doesnt run..anyone with a solution?

XP Manifest
Just a quick question... I added a DBCombo box to my form but the XP Manifest doesnt 'skin' it like the rest of the controls...

also anything you put in a Frame doesnt look right either. Are these limitations of the Xp Manifest? Are there work arounds to these issues?

Help Me With My Manifest! It Was Working....
Hi,

I am using VB6 to make a program. I have 2 Projects which create two EXE's. One is Options.exe and the other is Backup.exe (the main file).

Firstly, the Options program.

It consists of:
- Frames x 2
- Text Boxes x 3
- Command button x 2
- Folder List Box x 1

I have a Manifest file on the VB6.EXE file in Program Files, and the Options display perfectly. However when I create the EXE, copy the Manifest and rename it, I try to run Options.exe with Options.exe.manifest, and I just get the Windows Error Sound, and nothing else happens.

It totally confuses me as I have used this manifest on other projects just a couple of weeks ago, I am sure I'm using the V5 of the controls (if I actually use any)

When I compile the Backup.exe, it works perfectly. It consists of::

- ProgressBar x 1 (V5)
- Label x 1
- FileListBox x 1

and I'm using the same manifest file.

I'm totally bemused, so if anyone can help, please dear god do, I've made practice projects with different controls, compiled it and it still won't work. I just made a form with a command button and a text box on, and it still won't work the the manifest, however it works with ProgressBars, labels and filelistboxes.

HELP!!!!!

Cheers,

Chris

Manifest Problem
Hi all,

For applying XP style visuals in my application, I use manifest file. But it seems there is a bit of a problem with it.

1. If there is any control on a frame, then it does not gets the visual style & is shown as blacked out.

2. This is strange. In my appliation, there is a wizard type interface which has a few forms each having Next & Previous buttons to navigate. Along with these, there is a Clear button on every form. Now when i see the compiled exe, then the visual styples are applied to it. All the command buttons in the applications are shown as in XP except the Clear Buttons
The buttons with Caption as "Clear" have the same conventional look all thropughout the application.

What could be the problem?
Could somebody guide me through

Thanks in advance

Manifest XP Styles
I have successfully installed the .manifest from posts on this site. This is the result that I get.

Things to notice:
The Frame around Marital Status is not like the other frames (option controls used inside frame) and the command buttons are not drawn correctly.

Here is the fix ---
From previous threads, I have read that placing a picture box on the screen would solve the option control to display correctly. I applied this theory to both frames within a frame (as in my case) and command buttons within a frame

I set the border style property of the picture box to 0 - None. Place the picture control inside the frame and then place the control inside the picture box.

Hope this helps for anyone else dealing with manifest files or XP Styles

XP Manifest Wrapped With Exe?
A few people have been telling me around the IRC chat its possible to wrap the .manifest by means of Resource File, or Related Document. So far Ive come up dry trying to figure out how this works.

Basically my goal here is to get the .manifest into the exe so I dont have to carry along the .manifest when I give my program to someone.

Right now I'm using:

Code:
Private Declare Function InitCommonControls Lib "Comctl32.dll" () As Long

Private Sub Form_Initialize()
InitCommonControls
End Sub
and Divil's manifest file:
http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/show...threadid=15816

for my manifest, perhaps I should be trying to use this .bas instead?
http://www.xtremevbtalk.com/show...light=manifest

Slow Manifest
How come, when i use a manifest file to give my app the "XP look", my program loads over twice as slow? How can i optimize my app, or manifest file?

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?>
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
<assemblyIdentity
version="1.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
name="CompanyName.ProductName.YourAppName"
type="win32" />
<description>Your application description here</description>
<dependency>

version="6.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"

</dependentAssembly>

Manifest Problems
I seem to be having problems when using a manifest file to use XP's common controls (black appearences).
Heres the Manifest..

Heres a screenshot..

Also how can i include the manifest resource into the application rather than it being external? ive seen this done with the messenger Plus 2! addon for msn messenger.

Many Thanks.

XP Theme Manifest
Hi,
Is there any way to include an XP manifest file (to enable "visual styles") in a VB application without having to manually include a .manifest file with the application or having to use a resource editor to add the file every time it is compiled?

I have previously read threads that say adding the manifest as a "related document" will work, but every time I do this, it is added as a module and does not compile. Also using Project > Add File doesn't work either...

Any solutions?

Public Function InitCommonControlsVB() As Boolean
On Error Resume Next
Dim iccex As tagInitCommonControlsEx
' Ensure CC available:
With iccex
.lngSize = LenB(iccex)
.lngICC = ICC_USEREX_CLASSES
End With
InitCommonControlsEx iccex
InitCommonControlsVB = (Err.Number = 0)
On Error GoTo 0

Embed Manifest Into Exe?
Is it possible to embed a manifest file into your project so when I compile it the manifest is also in the project? This is the code for the manifest (makes the program use xp style)

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
<assemblyIdentity
version="1.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
name="Microsoft.VB6.VBnetStyles"
type="win32"
/>
<dependency>
<dependentAssembly>
<assemblyIdentity
type="win32"
name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
version="6.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"
language="*"
/>
</dependentAssembly>
</dependency>
</assembly>

2 Manifest Files In One ?
Hello,

I have two manifest files that work perfectly alone , one to pseudo register a DLL and a other that use VB6 look like XP.

I would like to merge the two files together , but I have no glue where to start.

You are welcome to copy past this script , it took me a while to find them.

Below you find the to manifest files :

VB6 LOOK LIKE XP

Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes"?>
<assembly xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" manifestVersion="1.0">
<assemblyIdentity
version="1.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
name="RS232"
type="win32"
/>
<description>VB code converter.</description>
<dependency>
<dependentAssembly>
<assemblyIdentity
type="win32"
name="Microsoft.Windows.Common-Controls"
version="6.0.0.0"
processorArchitecture="X86"
publicKeyToken="6595b64144ccf1df"
language="*"
/>
</dependentAssembly>
</dependency>
</assembly>

PSEUDO REGISTER A DLL
Code:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<asmv1:assembly xsi:schemaLocation="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1 assembly.adaptive.xsd" manifestVersion="1.0" xmlns:dsig="http://www.w3.org/2000/09/xmldsig#" xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2" xmlns:asmv1="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1" xmlns:asmv2="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v2" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<asmv1:assemblyIdentity
name="Project1.exe"
version="1.0.0.5"
language="neutral"
processorArchitecture="x86"
type="win32" />

<file name="Project2.dll" asmv2:size="20480" xmlns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:asm.v1">
<typelib tlbid="{da30bb75-3d8e-400c-af35-4674c38e8e0f}" version="2.0" helpdir="" resourceid="0" flags="HASDISKIMAGE" />
<comClass clsid="{82c809d3-424b-4027-963e-37a25ec0cad4}" threadingModel="Apartment" tlbid="{da30bb75-3d8e-400c-af35-4674c38e8e0f}" progid="Project2.Class1" />
