I use the following connection:

Having Trouble Programatically Setting Up The Connection String For OLE Connection
I am using VB to retrive a string I have in an access database. With the following code:

(myDB is declared publicly elsewhere... Public myDB As New ADODB.Connection)
Code:
Dim sPath As String
Dim myRS As New ADODB.Recordset
Dim sQuery as String

sPath = Environ("PeMMP_DB") & "ProvData"
myDB.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & sPath & "PeMMP_DB.mdb;Password='pemmpadmin';Persist Security Info=False"
myRS.Open "SELECT Queries.Query_Text FROM [Queries] WHERE (((Queries.Query_Num)=" & sQNum & "));", myDB 'Model_Num value must be changed manually
sQuery = myRS.fields.Item(0).Value

I have it working when I take the variables out of the path, but I need to allow the program to pass variables in. Any help or suggestions are greatly app.

Also I am writing this in a VBA envronment but need to port it to VB6 when ready. Are there any issues with database connections and recordsets I need to be aware of?

Thanks very much.
Craig

Connection String Not Accepting The UserId When Opening Connection With Sql.
Hi,
I tried opening a database connection with sql
using the following code :

Dim lstrDbServer: lstrDbServer = "CD3CD3"
Dim lstrUserId: lstrUserId = "Administrator"
Dim lstrPassword: lstrPassword = "system"
Dim lstrDBName: lstrDBName = "Pubs"
Dim ConString
Dim connPubs

ConString = "Provider=MSDataShape;DATA PROVIDER=SQLOLEDB;Data Source=" & lstrDbServer & ";User Id=" & lstrUserId & ";Password=" & lstrPassword & ";Database=" & lstrDBName & ";Connect Timeout=10"

set connPubs = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")

connPubs.Open ConString

I got the following error :

Error Type:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server (0x80004005)
Login failed for user 'Administrator'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Why am i getting this error.
When i installed sql Server 2000 i set the sql server username as Administrator & Password as system.
Is there some way i can find out the username & password that i had entered while installing, just to check the spelling.

Do get back to me.

Firebird Sp In Vb6
in MSSQL a stored procedure are like this:
Create Procedure "ProcName"
As
Select "fields" From "Database"
End Procedure

If i have a conection obj and a recordser obj i use:
Set Rs = con.Execute
And that returns a recordset for use in my app.

But in Firebid the Sp are like this:
For Select "fields" From "Database"
Into :"OutVariables"

This Sp dosn´t return a Recordset for my app.
What can i Do to have a recordset in VB6.

Please sorry for my english.

Connection String For String Array In Memory?
Hi All,

I created a user control and put it on a form with a data repeater and ado
control. My understanding is that this configuration requires a connection
string. However, my database is in memory in a string array (e.g. redim
sa(x,y) as string). How would I write a connection string for an array in
memory?

Thanks,

VB And Firebird Fbdll4vb.dll
Hello,
Today I have searched internet to find out how I can connect to firebird database using "fbdll4vb.dll". But I could not find any answer.

I wrote a simple application that uses .mdb but now I want to use firebird database. Because I was told that using a single dll I would be able to distribute my application instead of distributing whole db server. But I could find how to call dll from VB.

I would appreciate any help and information
Thanks in advance

Firebird Problem
I´ve been using a firebird database (db.GDB) in my project.

There is a datagrid connect to an adodc in my project that gets all the infos from that and dysplays them.

When I delete a record the datagrid doesn't update.

I´ve also tried to commit

Any ideas?

Code:

Private Sub btn_del_Click()
Dim cn As New ADODB.Connection
Dim rs As New ADODB.Recordset
Dim sql As String

If MsgBox("Are you sure you want to delete this record?", _
vbQuestion + vbYesNo + vbDefaultButton2, _
"Delete Record") _
<> vbYes Then
Exit Sub
End If

sqld = "DELETE FROM table WHERE id = " & id & ""
cn.Open
Set rsd = cn.Execute(sqld)
cn.CommitTrans
cn.Close

With Adodc2.Recordset
.MoveNext
If .EOF Then .MoveLast
If .BOF Then .MoveNext
End With

sql = "Select * From table"
cn.Open
Set rs = cn.Execute(sql)
cn.Close
DataGrid2.Refresh

When I close and opens the project again it works after I delete a record

DSN Less Connection String...help?
Hai Everybody,

Any body help me to build a connection string to connect to a remote servers sqlserver database. I tried it using an udl file but it is not showing the servers name which are connected to our machine.

Thank You.

ADO Connection String
I am using an ado data control and I want to specify a connection string and point the data control to a database at runtime.

datAccounts.ConnectionString = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.3.51;Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=marketing.mdb"

The problem is that everytime I get an error stating that the data source name was not found and a default driver was not specified. When I use the connection string builder in the properties menu, that is exactly the result I get.

Is there any way I can point it to an Access database at runtime?

Whom shall I fear?

Connection String With RDB
I'm trying to use VB6 and a DSN to connect to the DB. Of course the DSN by itself does not work.

I know there is other data that needs to go into the string. I'm just not sure how to format it:

It has to be something like:

"DSN=MyDSN;Server=RDBServer;Class=generic;User Name=MyName;password=MyPassWord;attach statement=attach 'filename e1_my_data_rdbfile'"

Because when connect using Crystal Reports or ODBCTST.EXE those are the questions I need to answer.

ADO, WindowsXP

Thanx In Advance,

Connection String/SQL Help
I am very new to visual basic and I need some help in getting the right code to make my program work. I am trying to make a connection for adding a new record, deleting a record, and updating a record. I am using an Access 2000 database to hold the information.

Database Location: C:My DocumentsMy Database.mdb
Database Password: AF123

The table that I am trying to add/update/delete to is: Monthly

The Fields in the "Monthly" table are:ID
Bills
Amount
Date
Due Day

The textboxes on my form that relate to the "Monthly" table:

text1.text=ID
text2.text=Bills
text3.text=Amount
text4.text=Date
text5.text=Due Day
command1 button would be used to Add a new Record
command2 button would be used to Update Record
command3 button would be used to Delete Record

For example, I would like to be able to delete or update the "Monthly" table using the information from the textboxes. If text1.text =3, then I would like to be able to update the database table "Monthly" where the ID=3

If anyone has any quick examples or a few minutes to give me a couple of examples using the data that I supplied above, I would really appreciate it.

ADO Connection String.
Hi,
I am trying to specify a path in an ADO connection string.

I have the following....

ConnectionString = Provider & "Data Source = " & Text1.Text

The problem is when a path is put into text1.text I get an error. Because I think the connection string just can't handle the path.

Any ideas on how to get around this.

Thanks.

Connection String For Different PC
Hi ewveryone ....
I have never had to deal with this yet... and not sure if it will be a problem when deployed or not.
I am almost ready to deliver a program to a small home based business.
I have made the DBase and created the VB project at my home.
The connection string and commands are all based on where I have the DBase on my PC, but when I put the DBase on their work PC(only one, no network), it will obviously be different than where I have it. Is this going to present a problem? and if so, suggestions on how to get around this is very appreciated.

SQL Connection String
what is the sql connnection string for ADO? I don't know why I can't find it.

Connection String
Thanks for suggesting that I download Database.Zip. It has been extremely helpful in getting me started with ADO. I do have a question about the sytnacs of the Connection String. The code below was copied from the example. sConn is used as the Connection String.

Dim sConn as String

sConn = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" & App.Path & "db1.mdb" & ";Persist Security Info=False"

My question is:

I need to set up a connection to an Access database with ADO. The only thing that is a little hazy is that OLEDB parameter. For the above database would I use ADODB instead? Please advise me.

Thanks.

Help With Connection String
Im need to connect my connection in data environment by code for refreshing. Im having a problem with the connection string.

this is my code:

Quote:

DataEnvironment1.Connection1.Open "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=C:MyDbase.mdb;Persist Security Info=False"

I directly copied the connection string from the ConnectionSource property of Connection1 in DataEnvironment1. however, i keep getting this error:

Quote:

run time error 3220
Supplied provider is different from the one already in use

what might be causing it? The connection works with data environment. any help will be appreciated, tnx in advance

Connection String
I want to connect a VB form to a MS Access table using ADO and setting the connection string at Form_Load event using with the App.Path syntax so the application can run as a stand-alone.

The only options I can find are:
1.Connect setting everything Programmatically
2.Connect setting everything in advance through the Properties (app.path does not work)

The code Below does not work and I can't understand why?

Private Sub Form_Load()
On Error GoTo Err_Form_Load

Dim strConnection As String

strConnection = "Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.3.51;" & _
"Persist Security Info=False;Data Source=" & App.Path & "MudPITVB.mdb"

Me.adProgram.ConnectionString = strConnecction
Me.adProgram.CommandType = adCmdTable
Me.adProgram.RecordSource = "tblprograms"

Exit_Form_Load:
Exit Sub

Err_Form_Load:
MsgBox "Error Number: " & Err.Number & " - " & Err.Description
Resume Exit_Form_Load
End Sub

Please...I know this is probably very basic but I would appreciate any help?

Help! SQL Connection String?
Hi,

We just moved our web site from an NT machine to a Windows 2003 server. The web site comes up fine, but wherever we are using ASP pages that connect to a databse, we receive the following error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

/my_conn.asp, line 5

The my_conn.asp page is actually an include file that contains our connection string. We are still running SQL 7.0.

<%
Dim my_conn
Set my_conn = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
my_conn.ConnectionString ="Driver={SQL Server};Server=ourservername;Database=ourdb;Uid=ouruid;Pwd=ourpass;"
my_conn.Open
%>

We think there may be a problem with our connection string. ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!
