Crystal, Vb, Xp Pro = Server Not Yet Open
We have a crystal report (v8.5) viewer embedded in a vb6 app, using a vfp ole connection which has been working fine on many installations.

One of our users just got XP Pro, and after reinstalling our program, crystal gets "server not yet open" when attempting to view the report. I've checked the versions of cryst32.ocx, crpaig80.dll, mfc42.dll, msvcrt.dll, craxdrt.dll, crviewer.dll, and all have the same versions as our install & various test machines. And the vfp data is in a local folder. I've also grabbed a copy of their db files and they run fine on my 2K machine.

The only other variable is that they have installed a version of the ADP payroll software that uses an older version of crystal. ADP has supplied them with a modified version of crpe32.dll which allows both versions of crystal to function, but that was in place on their old Windows machines, and worked as advertised, and I've tried putting back the original crpe32.dll from 8.5 and still get the "not yet opened".

This is the only installation I'm aware of that uses XP Pro. And, we've tried it logged in as adminstrator too, so it does not appear to be a permisions problem either. Any ideas?

Server Not Yet Open - Crystal Question
I tried the reporting forum ................

I get this error, not because of a missing ODBC, but because
of permissions. If we use the system administrators login
for the ODBC the report loads with no problem. The current
ODBC is setup for the db owner and it still won't work. Not
too sure what to do.

Using VB6 To Open Crystal Report And Export It To Pdf
I wrote a script to query up about 50 ids.  Loop thru them and open up the crystal report and pass the ids then export it to pdf format.

I have 2 questions.
1.  Instead of doing the below statements each time is it possible to do a refresh?
    Set Report = crxApplication.OpenReport("test.rpt", 1)
    ...
    Set Report = Nothing
    Set crxApplication = Nothing

2.  Sometimes VB closes after it attempts to export. Any ideas?  This occurs just before I set the report = Nothing.

VB6, Crystal Report 8.5 And SQL Server 2000
hi, i'm newbie in VB+DB+Reporting...
i wanna ask a few thing...

i've seen "most" of other post that has similliar problem but none has solve my problem

ok.. i'm using VB6, CR8.5, and SQL Server2000 (i'm in learning session, so just made little DB with only 2 tables)

in VB i can connect to SQL Server via ADODB and can "browse" via RecordSet...
basicly, anything related to SQL Server has successfully "implemented".

after DB, i wanna use CR in VB (using CRViewer, not CrystalReport).. here is my code :

Dim application As New CRAXDRT.application
Dim rep As New CRAXDRT.Report

Set rep = application.OpenReport("D:wetest.rpt")
repForm.CRViewer1.ReportSource = rep
repForm.CRViewer1.ViewReport
repForm.CRViewer1.Zoom (98)
repForm.Show vbModal

when the code is run, CRViewer is running, but there is no Server connection.. ("Server has not yet been opened")...

i've try other post before, like adding
application.LogOnServer, but i don't know what should i type in "pDLLName".
and/or use ADODB as rep.database.setdatasource *adodb rs* but still can't connect...

but when i save my "wetest.rpt" with "Save with data", CRViewer can display the report but can't refresh it. it says "Method Refresh in ICrystalReport4 failed"... i assume this cause by no server connection ??

ok, maybe its stupid question, but what kind of compenent/reference used if i want to use Crystal Report "perfectly" ??

anyone can help me ?? THANKS A BUNCH!!

PS : what is "Add Crystal Report.." that everyone talking about ?? i right-click at project, but there is no "Add Crystal Report" thing. And they said they use Wizard... what wizard ??

Set Appn = New CRAXDRT.Application
Set cReport = Nothing
Set cReport = Appn.OpenReport("D:ksilvbproj3Report
eport1.rpt", 1)
cReport.MorePrintEngineErrorMessages = True
cReport.EnableParameterPrompting = True

Sql Server 2000 + Crystal Report 8.5
Hi
I have a field in my database with type of Big Integer.If this field contains 10 number or less crystal report shows its data but if it contains more than 10 number it shows 0.Can you help me to solve this problem?

Helpppppp!!! About Crystal Report And SQL Server
Dear All,

I need help badly.

Question I
I always do my report design on Crystal Report. And the version that I use is Crystal Report ver. 7.0
No problem at all in design time or coding time. But one thing that getting on my nerves. My crystal doesn't want to print out to my printer.
At the first time, when I design it, and try it, it will preview on my screen, and then when I want to print it out, it's okay, my report will print out on my printer.
But, don't know why and how, yesterday, my report didn't want to print out (only preview on screen, but when I want to print it out, it didn't come out on my printer.

Can anybody help me ???

Question II
I already ask about this here, but never got the answer till now. I have a database on SQL Server (ver. 7.0). At the first time when I create the database, I already set the transaction log size into 80 MB, but now I think it's too big just for a transaction log. Now, I want to change it to 20 MB. But, an error occurs. It said that I can't set the size to the little one, I should set to the bigger one.
Could anybody tell me how to change the size into the smaller one ???

Any help will be appreciated. I need it badly. Help...
Thx in advice.

Connecting Crystal Report To SQL Server
I have an application that uses a number of Crystal Reports to connect against a choice of SQL Servers.

At runtime the Crystal Reports should connect to the same Server/Database that the application is connected to, however I am having trouble producing a report if the Server I try to connect to, is not the Server that I used when designing the Crystal Report.

ie. If I design a report using Server A and try to run the report when connected to Server A, everything works fine.

However, if I try and run the same report when connected to Server B, I get the message 'SQL Server error'.

(The report I am using is nothing complex and the Databases on each Server are identical in design.)

The only thing I am trying to change is the connect property.

Code:
rptReport.Connect = "DSN=myDSN;UID=myUID;PWD=myPWD;Database=myDatabase"

If this makes sense, can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong??

Any assistance would be grately appreciated - I've been stewing on this one for about 5 months now.

Thanks

SQL Server & Oracle In The Same Crystal Report
I've got to re-design some reports. Currently they are all going against
a sql server database. However, starting this November some of the data
will live in an Oracle datasource with the remainder staying in the departmental
sql server datasource. According to business objects/crystal it is
not recommended to do the join in the report:
http://support.businessobjects.com/library/kbase/articles/c2008838.asp

I've got several ideas on how to do this:
1) Create a .NET wrapper and pass data from the vb6 application, join the data in the wrapper
     using a data table and return an ADO recordset that can be passed to crystal. I've already
     written a .NET com wrapper to read some JAVA (our blessed language for talking to the data store) web-services
     and pass (via VCOM interop) back to the vb6 program.
2) Re-write the reports to use sub-reports for the Oracle portion. I would need to get direct database
     access for this. I can get access to the Oracle package through iSQL or TOAD -
     don't know if this works within crystal.

Any ideas which would be the best way to go about this? I'm part of a pilot team re-engineering
some applications and want to set some standards on how we should approach this in the future.

Logon To SQL Server Using VB In Crystal Report
I am using SQL server, crystal report 9 and VB 6 to make a report program.
Now, I need to Logon to the server in the crystal report viewer using VB6.

Below is my current code
Code:Dim crystalApp As CRAXDRT.Application
Dim CRReport As CRAXDRT.Report
Set crystalApp = New CRAXDRT.Application
Set CRReport = crystalApp.OpenReport("Q:IT DeptReportProgramSalesReport.rpt")
frmGenReport.CRViewer.ReportSource = CRReport
frmGenReport.CRViewer.ViewReport
frmGenReport.CRViewer.Zoom 100
Set crystalApp = Nothing
Set CRReport = Nothing
Can I pass the logon information to the crystal report viewer?
What should I add?

Crystal Report - Server Yet Not Opened
I have made application in VB6 with Crystal report8.2. The database is MS-Access. I dont want to set DSN so i used connection string in my coding. connection String is like this:
accessconnect = "DRIVER={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};" & _
                   "DBQ=sarvayogam.MDB;" & _
                   "DefaultDir=" & App.Path & ";" & _
                   "UID=;PWD=;"

    Set con = New ADODB.Connection
        con.ConnectionString = accessconnect

For VB coding that works fine. but In report coding I have written one line:

       CRXReport.Database.LogOnServer "pdsodbc.dll", "Kids", " ", " ", " " where Kids is

the DSN name i set from Start->setting->control panel ->ODBC Data Source(32-bit).

but if i install software on the client machine without DSN i get an error:

"Server yet not opened"

can there is any way by which at the time of installation of the software only, DSN is set automatically? or what can i do at the time of package development so that customer need not require to set DSN explicitely to use my software. please help.

If I do so and run my prog i've got the error message: "Server not connect/opened? yet"

Open Crystal Report File From VB Automatically.
I've been trying to figure out a way to create a VB program that will automatically open a Crystal Report file when I click on that file from Windows Explorer. What I did was make a simple form with a Crystal Report Control on it. Then I associated the *.rpt file type with that program so that when I click on that file type, Windows will launch my program to try and open that Crystal Report file. I figure it must be some kind of DDE solution, I think. It can't be that difficult of a thing to do. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I figure it must be some kind of DDE solution, I think. It can't be that difficult of a thing to do. I just don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Open Crystal Report In A VB6 Activex Control
Hi,

I've created an ActiveX control in VB6 and now I want to include un CR in it.
I can add the CR Viewer Control component but I have a message when I want to add the CR Control component (thread vs multithread).
I think that I can't open a CR in an OCX but I would like someone to confirm that and explain why. AND so, what can I do?

Thank you.

Refrencing 2 Server Table From A Sp For Crystal Report?
Hi, all.
My Comp's Sales Crystal Report needs a stored procedure that have to reference more than 2 tables from different Server..
like following

FROM ReportSALES AS R LEFT OUTER JOIN SSS07.MyFASHION.dbo.MySTORES AS S
ON CONVERT(int, R.STOREID) = CONVERT(int, S.STORE_ID)
(ReportSALES : comes from PPP server and
I passed Login info to Crystal Report for PPP server)
Crystal Report generates err..
AS I think, it gives err.. since Crystal Report knows only One Server's login info..

Is it possible? If so, how can I do it?
it's urgent...help..

Thank you all...

Crystal Report Viewer Err - Server Has Not Yet Opened
Hi all.
I'm using the Crystal Reports Viewer in VB 6 with CR 8.5.0.216. I've got the object installed and opening a report but I am having difficulty refreshing the report. When I attempt a refresh, I need to log on to the server to get the data out but do not understand the arguments for the
LogOnServer method (if this is even what I'm supposed to use). Particularly the pDllName but the rest are kind of vague as well.
If there is a better method, feel free to debunk my current effort since I am not certain of the servername and such.

here is my code.

Public Appn As CRAXDRT.Application
Public cReport As CRAXDRT.Report

Private Sub Form_Load()

Set Appn = CreateObject("CrystalRunTime.Application")
Set cReport = Appn.OpenReport("C:Program FilesDisplay BoardPmWorkOrder.rpt")

Appn.LogOnServer "p2ssql.dll", "T01App02", "Maximo", "myID", "myPass"

cReport.DiscardSavedData

cReport.RecordSelectionFormula = "{WORKORDER.WOEQ9} like 'T181' and {WORKORDER.SUPERVISOR} = 'PCC' and not ({WORKORDER.STATUS} in ['COMP', 'CLOSE', 'CAN'])"

CRViewer1.ReportSource = cReport
CRViewer1.ViewReport

end sub

Also, I've started getting an error telling me that pdssql.dll can't be found. I'm looking straight at the code and it says p2ssql.dll. Why is it fudging the name when it looks for it?
Thanks all
