Error 3464 Data Type Mismatch
We are using VB 6.0 and Access 2000

In an SQL statement in a VB program we are getting Error 3464 - Data Type Mismatch.

The pertinent code is as follows:

Dim stDrawNum As String
Dim iIssueNum As Integer
Dim RS as dao.Recordset
Dim DB as Database

(datDuplicate is a data control on the form)

stDrawNum = datDuplicate.Recordset("Drawing #")
iIssueNum = datDuplicate.Recordset("Issue #")

Set RS = DB.OpenRecordset("Select * from [Lucent]" _
& " Where [Drawing Number] = '" & stDrawNum & "'" _
& "and [Issue Number] = '" & iIssueNum & "'")

It is at this point that we get Error 3464. The Issue # in the database is an integer. If we use only 'stDrawNum' in the SQL statement, no error occurs, so it is the 'iIssueNum' that is giving us the problem. I had this problem before and it had nothing to do with the data types, it was something else that was causing the error, however I forget what it was. Can anyone help me here please.

Error 3464 - Data Type MisMatch
Hi,

I am writing a SQL query in VB6 and for some reason I am getting a data type mismatch error. I am using an Access 2000 database.
____________________________________
If rsOperator("Department") = 5 Then
        LockedUser.Visible = True
        Locked.Visible = True
        fraSuper.Visible = False
        frameLogin.Visible = False
        Picture1.Visible = False
        SQL1 = "Select Operator.* FROM Operator where Operator.Locked = 'No'"
        'mShowMsg mMessage14
        Set rsOperator1 = dbBPL.OpenRecordset(SQL1, dbOpenDynaset)
        'mShowMsg mMessage14
        LockedUser.Caption = rsOperator1("OperatorID")
    End If
________________________________________________________________________

This query is directly after a query which functions properly:
SQL = "Select * FROM Operator where OperatorID = '" + txtUID.Text + "'"
   Set rsOperator = dbBPL.OpenRecordset(SQL, dbOpenDynaset)

I am new to VB and would really appreciate it if any one could help me.

Thanks
Ashish

Error 3464 SQL Server Versus DAO VB Type
I have a select statement that I am running through DAO to an SQL server database. The select statement looks like this after interpretation of the variables used (I got this through the debug window with a "?strSelect"):

Code:
SELECT serial_no,event_date,event,event_desc,UIC,Source,reg_no,
run_time,iwr_results FROM Events WHERE part_no='2064219' and
event_date >= '1/1/2005' ORDER BY serial_no,event_date
The open recordset statement looks like this:

Code:
Set rsRecordset = AFTA_DB.OpenRecordset(strSelect, dbOpenSnapshot, dbSQLPassThrough)
When i run this select statement through SQL Analyzer, it returns the appropriate records. In my VB code, I am trapping error 3464. I am sure the issue is with the dates, since if I create criteria without dates, it works just fine. The SQL Table Events has event_type datatype smalldatetime. I use text boxes to obtain the start and end dates. Here is the code I use to build the start date of the select statement:

Code:
If txtStart_Date.Text <> "" Then
mstrSelect = mstrSelect & " and event_date >= '" &
CDate(Trim$(txtStart_Date.Text)) & "'"
End If
Any ideas for me to pursue?

Thanks

SQL Error: Char Data Type Conversion To Datetime Data Type Error
I created an application which, in one instance, queries an
SQL Server 7 table based on a date entered.
I have installed it on 4 machines (one NT, two 98 & one 95).
It works fine on all but one of the 98 machines.

On this !one! machine I receive the following error:
Error 2147217913 was generated by Microsoft OLE DB provider
for SQL Server The conversion of a char data type to a
datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime
value.

I get the date from a datepicker with the format
"dd/MMM/yyy HH:mm:ss"

Help!

Thanks in advance

Error 3464 Help
Hi guys.

I am using VB6 with Access and I am having trouble with a 3464 error. This has started to happen on my code since I changed StartYear and YearGroup from a string to an integer within my database. I know the error has something to do with it becoming confused as whether to pass the information as a string or an integer. I changed the data to an integer because it wasn't displaying in ascending order in my combo box and looked confusing. Anyways, here's my code.

Code:
Private Sub FieldUpdate()
Dim StartYearSelected, YearGroupSelected As Integer
Dim StartYear, YearGroup As Integer
Dim sqlstr As String

StartYearSelected = cmbStartingYear.ListIndex
YearGroupSelected = cmbYearGroup.ListIndex

StartYear = cmbStartingYear.List(StartYearSelected)
YearGroup = cmbYearGroup.List(YearGroupSelected)

sqlstr = "SELECT * FROM Results WHERE StartingYear = " & "'" & StartYear & "'" & "AND YearGroup = " & "'" & YearGroup & "'"
datEdit.RecordSource = sqlstr
datEdit.Refresh

End Sub

I read somewhere that the quotes around variables in SQL in VB changes whatever it is into a string which makes sense to why the problem is occuring. I've tried working around this but have not found a solution. It's probably something fairly basic so any help would be great.

(When the error occurs, it highlights datEdit.Refresh)

Error 3464 Help!! >.<
I get error for below coding.

Private Function history()
If Not his.EOF Then his.MoveFirst
Set his = dbsNormah.OpenRecordset("Select * from [Adult Medical Record] where [Patient ID] ='" & lblPatientID & "'")
If Not his.NoMatch Then
rtbMedHis.Text = "No record"
Else
rtbMedHis.Text = his("Medical History")
End If
End Function

and i get runtime error 3464

Someone can please help me up. Thank you ^^

Run-Time Error 3464
When running the following SQL statement from VB I get a run-time error 3464.

frmCloseAllocatedCall.dtaCloseAllocatedCall.Database.Execute "UPDATE AllocatedCalls Set ClosingDescription = '" & frmCloseAllocatedCall.txtClosingDescription & "' , LogEndDate = '" & Str(Date) & "' , LogEndTime = '" & Str(Time) & "' WHERE (SIRNumber = '" & frmCloseAllocatedCall.txtSIRNumber & "'); "

However, when I hard code the SIRNumber e.g. 62. The line runs fine!

I have checked at run-time what frmCloseAllocatedCall.txtSIRNumber equals and it is the relevant number "62".

Has anyone got any suggestions as to why this command won't run???

Thanx in advance

Run-Time Error '3464'
Hi.

Writing my code i encountered this error and I can't figure what the problem is...

here the code:

VB Code:
Function PopulateGrid()Dim ws As WorkspaceDim db As DatabaseDim rsMeld As DAO.RecordsetDim sql As String'Dim Meldungzeit, Von, Nach, NaechsteMeldung  As StringDim mob_stat As String Set ws = CreateWorkspace("new odbcworkspace", "admin", "", dbUseJet)Set db = ws.OpenDatabase(App.Path + "db1.mdb")Debug.Print (FahrzeugNr)sql = "SELECT Von FROM Meldungen WHERE FahrzeugNr =" & CStr(Me.List2.Text) & " AND DefStat = 0 "[u][b]Set rsMeld = db.OpenRecordset(sql)[/b][/u]Do Until rsMeld.EOFIf rsMeld.Fields("Stat_Mobil") = 0 Then    mob_stat = "mob"Else    mob_stat = "stat"End IfMSHFlexGrid1.AddItem (CStr(rsMeld.Fields("MeldungZeit").Value) & vbTab & CStr(rsMeld.Fields("Von").Value) & vbTab & mob_stat & vbTab & CStr(rsMeld.Fields("Nach").Value) & vbTab & CStr(rsMeld.Fields("NaechsteMeldung").Value))rsMeld.MoveNextLoopEnd Function

The line
VB Code:
Set rsMeld = db.OpenRecordset(sql)
raises error 3464, translated "non consistent data" or similar.

The "Meldungen" Table contains date, time and other stuff but in text or numeric format.

It's strange because the same code works fine in another function that opens a different access Table with similar data

Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Nexus7

See this:

Form2.Data1.DatabaseName = "passwords.xls"

Form2.Data1.Refresh
Form2.Data1.Recordset.AddNew
Form2.Data1.Recordset("Password") = p2.Text

Error: 64k Max Data For Type
In my declarations for a module I have a few different Type calls that declare my variables:

Code:
Public Type TLVERTEX
X As Single
Y As Single
z As Single
rhw As Single
Color As Long
Specular As Long
tu As Single
tv As Single
End Type

Public Type Composition
TrStrip(0 To 3) As TLVERTEX
ColorTR As Long
ColorTL As Long
ColorBR As Long
ColorBL As Long
Color As Long
End Type

Public Type DXTiles
Public ListDx(500,500) as Composition
End Type

Public DXTile(100) as DxTiles
For some awkward reason when this code runs it returns an error that I can't surpass the 64k Data Max. Well, I know there is ALWAYS a way around with programming, so can someone help me? I may not be utilizing all the tools I have to make a different solution. Basically these calls make a tile map that is 500,500, and then the last call tells the game that it has 100 layers. Erm... Yea..

Thanks for help...

frmAltas.Text1.Text = rs!Id
frmAltas.Text2.Text = rs!Apellido

Data Type Conversion Error
Im getting runtime error 3421 "Data type conversion error", whilst executing this bit of code in Access 2000:

Dim rs As ADODB.Recordset
Dim connection As New ADODB.connection

Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("SELECT [ADDRESS] FROM [UNIFORM_PROPREC1] WHERE [UNIFORM_PROPREC1].[ADDRESS] like '" & Me.txtAddress.Text & "*'", connection, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic)

Me.txtADDFind.Text = rs.Fields("ADDRESS")

The ADDRESS field in UNIFORM_PROPREC1 is a text datatype as is the me.txtAddress.text.

Any ideas? Is this code just fundamentally wrong ?!

Error Data Type Mismatch
I am running a SQL query in VB to search for anything in the comments field defined as Memo, not text in Access database.

When I run search, I got the error data type mismatch....

"WHERE (([DAILY WORK].[Comments])like ' ""*" & [txtCommentSearch.Text] & "*"" ')" & _

(The above code all in one line)

I tried txtCommentSearch.Memo but still not working. The txtCommentSearch is the field in VB that I want users to enter any keywords to search.

Can anyone help me, please? Is the wildcard right in VB statement?
Thanks.

Data Type Conversion Error
What does this error mean?

Data Type Conversion Error
Hi, I am getting a "runtime error 524, data type conversion error" on a dbcombo. This has only happened since I have loaded msoffice'97 onto my computer. I am using visual basic 5. The all the other dbcombos in my program work fine except for this particular one. The program works fine with visual basic but when I compile and test it on the same machine, It brings up this error.
Also all the dbcombos are linked to 2 tables, 1 to populate the combo and the other is where the value is stored. It is only on the first field in the table where the problem is.
Also It is asking me for a dependency file for dblist32.ocx. Whould this be the problem as I can't find one.?
Can someone help me.

Data Type Conversion Error
i'm getting a data type conversion error with this code...can someone help?

Code:
With rstInfo

If .RecordCount = 0 Then
txtfname.SetFocus
Exit Sub
End If

Dim Counter As Integer
Counter = 0

.MoveFirst

.OpenRecordset ("select * from repairtable where custfName = " & "'" & lstlookup.SelectedItem.Text & "'")

Call update_form

End With

this code is inside a lst double click event. the update form just puts the text from the table to the textboxes. On debug the code lights up...

.OpenRecordset ("select * from repairtable where custfName = " & "'" & lstlookup.SelectedItem.Text & "'")

Error Converting Data Type
I made a StoreProc and I get the following error message.

"Error converting data type varchar to real."

Here's the StoreProc:

CREATE PROCEDURE AjoutRoutePreliminaire
@SecVoulue varchar(255),
@SousSecVoulue varchar(255),
@pExempt tinyint,
@pBarcode tinyint

AS
INSERT INTO RouteSSS (section, soussection, image, tagid, pid, isole, type ,attrib, manif, modele, noequip, ligne, iiid, barcode, itid, exempt, note, taille ,fuitedef)
Select I.Section, I.SousSection, I.Route as Image, P.TagId, P.PID, P.isole, P.Cod3TypeEquip as lType, L.Nom as ligne,
P.ID_IMAGE, P.Barcode, P.id_point, P.exempt, P.note, P.taille,
P.Cod4AttribEquip as Attrib, P.Cod4ManifEquip as Manif, P.ModeleEquip as Modele, P.NoEquip, P.fuitedef
FROM (ImageDef I RIGHT JOIN PointDef P ON I.ID_IMAGE = P.ID_IMAGE)
LEFT JOIN LignePro L ON P.ID_LIGNE = L.ID_LIGNE
WHERE (((I.Section) Like @SecVoulue) AND ((I.SousSection) Like @SousSecVoulue) AND
((P.Exempt) < @pExempt) AND ((P.BCFlag) >= @pBarcode))
ORDER BY I.Section, I.SousSection, I.Route, P.TagID;

And Here's how I call it:

1> exec ajoutroutepreliminaire @SecVoulue = '_%', @SousSecVoulue = '_%', @pExempt = 1,@pBarcode = 1;

I cannot see why it tries to cast a real.

The problem is with the % sign. If I change it for text it then works. Maybe i'm not using the appropriate wildcard character?

Thanks

Data Type Conversion Error
i'm getting the error on this code

VB Code:
With rstInfo If .RecordCount = 0 Then txtfname.SetFocus Exit Sub End If Dim Counter As Integer Counter = 0 .MoveFirst .OpenRecordset ("select * from repairtable where custfName = " & "'" & lstlookup.SelectedItem.Text & "'") Call update_form End With

Data Type Text Error
I am using the data type Text in my SQL7 database.

When I try to save data to these fields I get the following error.

Run-time error '-2147217900(80040e14)':

Code page transalations are not supported for the text data type. From: 1252 To: 850.

My code is simple.

Rs.open "Select ......
rs.addnew
rs.fields("MonDesc1") = text1.text
rs.update

Anyone have any ideas why I'm getting this error? I have used the data type text in the past and have not received this error.

Thanks

P.S. I can use data type ntext but I would rather not since ntext takes up twice as much spaces as text.

Data Type Mismatch Error
Hi

I am getting a data type mismatch error with the following code...

dim Num as integer

Connectdb.Open "c: est est.mdb"
recdb.Open "Select name,value " _
& "from table1 WHERE value='" & Num & "'", Connectdb, adOpenStatic

I have also set "value" as number in DB(design view). Should I change this to text?

Any help would be appriciated

Thanks

Data Type Conversion Error
Hi,
I have a date/Time field (Required = No) in my database. Whenever I try to update this field with an empty value, an error message say "Data type conversion error" appears.

Table.Addnew
Table!Date = "" <---------------------
Table.Update
Table.Close

Can anyone help me to resolve this problem?

Thank you very much.

Data Type Conversion Error In ComboBox
Hey there,

I have a combobox in my form that is connected with a field in a table. Then everytime there is a movement in the DBGrid1 (also connected to the table), I tell the program that it has to change the combobox content. I do that because sometimes the field connected to combobox have nothing and it's a manner to force a default value to this field, when user is navegating through the table. What I mean is, if the field is empty, the first time someone pass by that record the value of the field will be setted to 1 (default). Well, this is my idea, but I can't do that because whenever there is a movement in the DBGrid1, VB returns a "Data Type Conversion error".

Let's see the facts:

The combobox info (properties window):
Name = cmbCliTipo
Datafield = clitipo
Datasource = cliente
Itemdata = 0 1 2 (one on another)
List = Loja Vendedor Crédito (one on another)

The field clitipo is an integer.

My code is:

Code:
Private Sub DBGrid1_rowcolchange(LastRow As Variant, ByVal LastCol As Integer)
If Cliente.Recordset.CliTipo = 0 Then
cmbCliTipo.ListIndex = 0
ElseIf Cliente.Recordset.CliTipo = 1 Then
cmbCliTipo.ListIndex = 1
ElseIf Cliente.Recordset.CliTipo = 2 Then
cmbCliTipo.ListIndex = 2
Else
cmbCliTipo.ListIndex = 0
End If
End Sub
I would be very grateful if someone can help me to know what's wrong. I know it's a stupid question, but, in fact, believe it or not, I have the VB 6 Little Black Book (Steven Holzner) and I have browsing through the net and I have not found anywhere a combobox setting cakewalk...

Thanks in advance!

3421: Data Type Conversion Error
Hi all,

I have database related problem. I make a access database password protected. I am trying to access the database. But I am getting the error,

Run-time error 3421
Data typeconversion error.

Following is my code.

***RESOLVED*** Data Type Conversion Error
I need to be able to divide two currency values in an MSFlexGrid to come up with a percent value.

The challenge is that I need to have error handling to be sure that if the user puts in a $.0 currency value I do not get an error.

Ex.

Private Sub MSFlexGrid1_LeaveCell()

With MSFlexGrid1
.TextMatrix(1, 1) = Format(.TextMatrix(2, 1) / .TextMatrix(3, 1), "0.0%")
End With

End Sub

Data Type Mismatch Error 13 In SQL SET Statement
Hello All;

I have a problem retrieving a recordset. I have an access .mdb database created in Access 2003 as access 2000 format.
There are numerous tables within the .mdb and all of them return an Error 13 Data Type Mismatch when I use a
SET statement as below. I have even created a simple test table with 1 text field and 1 record and still same reults.
I have used this same type of statement in many other projects without problem (although the databases were created with Access 2000)
In the code below, the Variables for Database_Path and Database_Name are correct or it would not open.

*** This is declared in a startup module ***
Public TAcc_WS As Workspace
Public TAcc_Db As Database
Public Param_RecSet As Recordset 'Recordset of Parameters Table

*** This is code in another module called shortly after the above ***
'Sets up Workspace & Database.
Set TAcc_WS = DBEngine.Workspaces(0)
Set TAcc_Db = TAcc_WS.OpenDatabase(DataBase_Path & DataBase_Name)

*** This is the SET statement I use ***
'Set Recordset
Set Param_RecSet = TAcc_Db.OpenRecordset("SELECT * FROM Params2", dbOpenDynaset)
or
Set Param_RecSet = TAcc_Db.OpenRecordset("SELECT Params2.* FROM Params2", dbOpenDynaset)

I use DAO and have DAO 3.6 on the system (XP Pro SP-2) and referenced in the project.

I have tried running the exact same SQL statement in Access 2003 and works 100%.

I have stared at this and tweaked it for hours - no luck. Am I missing something?
Perhaps a different pair of eyes can help.

Thanks,
Fred

Valid Name, No Data Record Of Requested Type: Error
Hello,

I downloaded this vbSendMail project and I was wondering why I get this error when I try to send an email?

"Your attempt to send mail failed for the following reason(s):
Valid name, no data record of requested type"

I have attached the .zip project so you can see it for yourself.
Does anyone know what this is connected to?

Any help will be rated!

Thank you and have a great day!

Error Converting Data Type Datetime To Smalldatetime
Hi Everyone,
I'm having a little problem adding a record that contains 3 smalldatatime fields. I'm getting the following error:
Error converting data type datetime to smalldatetime.

Here is the code:
   Set mCommand = New ADODB.Command
   mCommand.CommandType = adCmdStoredProc
   mCommand.CommandText = "nf_AddOrder"
   Set mParam = mCommand.CreateParameter("@OrderId", adInteger, adParamInput)
   mParam.Value = nOrderid
   mCommand.Parameters.Append mParam
   Set mParam = mCommand.CreateParameter("@ProgramId", adVarChar, adParamInput, 10)
   mParam.Value = nProgramId
   mCommand.Parameters.Append mParam
   Set mParam = mCommand.CreateParameter("@OrderDate", adDBTimeStamp, adParamInput)

   mCommand.Parameters.Append mParam
   Set mParam = mCommand.CreateParameter("@DeleiveredDate", adDBTimeStamp, adParamInput)
   mParam.Value = nDeleiveredDate
   mCommand.Parameters.Append mParam

   mCommand.ActiveConnection = ado
   mCommand.Execute

  I get the error as soon the Execute function is called. The fields and the parameters of the stored procedures are declared as SmallDateTime. Has anyone seen this one yet. Thanks for any info.

'error Converting Data Type Varchar To Smallint' In SP
OK - I'm not a happy bunny and this is driving me absolutely mental

I've a Stored Procedure with an input variable called '@TotalRam' which is a smallint. I have another four which are varchar - but they are OK. In my VB app - I create the parameters, store them in a collection and punt them off to a DB Connection class - sound OK so far.

Well, everything works apart from this 'numeric' variable. If I take it out - everythings work OK. If I leave it in - it announces the following error when I execute the SP...

"error converting data type varchar to smallint"

So, here's how I'm generating the parameter (which is sent to a Database Connection class that returns a recordset)...
Code:Set parInputValue = New ADODB.Parameter
' Total RAM
With parInputValue
    .Name = "@TotalRAM"
    .Type = adSmallInt
    .Direction = adParamInput
    .Value = 256
End With
...which in my eyes is OK. Its a numeric value to start with, specified as a SmallInt in the Parameter - it is also specified as a smallint in the SP and in the underlying table?!?!? But the damn error keeps cropping its head up.

So in short - has anyone encountered this before? Am I missing some setting or extra chunk of code?

Just for your info...

The DB Connection class works like a dream - it is fine.
The parameters in the collection are successfully added to the Command object before its executed.
If I access the Stored Procedure say through an Access Project and provide it with the appropriate values - it works!
I've tried converting the value of the parameter, i.e. Cint, Clng, Csng, Cbyte, etc. before setting it in the parameter but no donut
I don't want to send over the parameter as a varchar and convert it - I want to nail this down

I checked a 101 tutorials on SPs and checked out example source and I cannot see any discrepencies but there code and mine

[ Resolved! ] Error Converting Data Type Varchar To Int?
I hope this is an easy one. I've been pulling my hair out for a couple of hours but it seems everything is correct. But all I get is an error. I've got a stored procedure (MSDE) which accepts 4 parameters (2 integers, 2 varchars). I'm passing them. Here is the stored procedure:
Code:
CREATE PROCEDURE UpdateRecords(

    @in_intSQLType INTEGER,
    @in_intCustID INTEGER,
    @in_strActive VARCHAR(3),
    @in_strIcon VARCHAR(35)

)

AS

SET NOCOUNT ON

BEGIN

    IF(@in_intSQLType = 1)

         UPDATE tblCust
         SET custActive = @in_strActive
         WHERE custID = @in_intCustID

    ELSE IF(@in_intSQLType = 3)

         UPDATE tblCust
         SET custImage = @in_strIcon,
             custActive = @in_strActive
         WHERE custID = @in_intCustID

END

Here is what I have for the VB code:
Code: ' check the connection
    If conSQLHandler.State <> 1 Then

        ' open the connection
        conSQLHandler.ConnectionString = strDBConn
        conSQLHandler.CursorLocation = adUseServer
        conSQLHandler.Open

    End If

    conSQLHandler.CursorLocation = adUseClient

    Dim adoParam1 As ADODB.Parameter
    Dim adoParam2 As ADODB.Parameter
    Dim adoParam3 As ADODB.Parameter
    Dim adoParam4 As ADODB.Parameter
    Dim cmdSP As ADODB.Command: Set cmdSP = New ADODB.Command
    Dim rsSP As Recordset: Set rsSP = New ADODB.Recordset

    With cmdSP

        .CommandText = "UpdateRecords"
        .CommandType = adCmdStoredProc

        Set .ActiveConnection = conSQLHandler

    End With

' MsgBox "intMobID: " & VarType(intCustID) & vbCrLf & _
' "Active: " & VarType(strActive) & vbCrLf & _
' "Icon: " & VarType(strIcon) & vbCrLf & _
' "SQL Type: " & VarType(intSQLType)

    Set adoParam1 = New Parameter
    adoParam1.Direction = adParamInput
    adoParam1.Name = "@in_intCustID"
    adoParam1.Type = adInteger
    adoParam1.Value = intCustID
    cmdSP.Parameters.Append adoParam1

    Set adoParam2 = New Parameter
    adoParam2.Direction = adParamInput
    adoParam2.Name = "@in_strActive"
    adoParam2.Type = adVarChar
    adoParam2.Size = 3
    adoParam2.Value = Trim(strActive)
    cmdSP.Parameters.Append adoParam2

    Set adoParam3 = New Parameter
    adoParam3.Direction = adParamInput
    adoParam3.Name = "@in_strIcon"
    adoParam3.Type = adVarChar
    adoParam3.Size = 35
    adoParam3.Value = Trim(strIcon)
    cmdSP.Parameters.Append adoParam3

    Set adoParam4 = New Parameter
    adoParam4.Direction = adParamInput
    adoParam4.Name = "@in_intSQLType"
    adoParam4.Type = adInteger
    adoParam4.Value = intSQLType
    cmdSP.Parameters.Append adoParam4

    Set rsSP = cmdSP.Execute

    Set cmdSP = Nothing
    Set rsSP = Nothing

Note the msgbox above where I set the adoParams ... those VarType are returning the correct variable datatypes. So, this all runs OK until it get to .Execute line. At that point, it throws an error stating:
Quote:-2147217913 / Error converting data type varchar to int.

The database fields are correct (intCustID = Integer, custActive = VarChar(3), custIcon = VarChar(35)).

I've tried including / excluding stuff like CInt(variable) but it always throws the same error.

Can anyone see what I am doing wrong? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. I've tried just about everything that I can think of. Judging from the code side of things (and the debugging.print and msgboxes that I've put up (and removed from this post)), I think everything on that side is correct. But something is happening with the SQL side of things.

Again, any and all idea's/suggestions/help is greatly appreciated. And thank you in advance for any that you can give.

Error Converting Data Type Numeric To Decimal
why i'm getting the error above when i'm updating the records??

In my code i'm not converting any data types:
the field in my table is decimal type:
i defined my variable in the stored procedure
declare @NonRateableExtent decimal(11,2)
then update the record with the value 17183844, that's when i get the error but any value smaller than this no error is thrown

Invalid Field Data Type [error 3259]?
Each time I move from the current record I get the following error message:

Invalid field data type. (Error 3259)
The data type specified in the Field object's Type property is not valid. Choose one of the valid types as shown in the Type property Help topic.

I have solved the problem by entering the line Response=0 in:

private Sub Data1_Error(DataErr as Integer, Response as Integer)
Response = 0
End Sub

But what does this means? and how can I set the field data type to the correct format?

Thanks in advance

Need Response ASAP! Data Type Conversion Error
Our requirement is: User should be able to enter the no value in the datetime field in our case

it is time in the format HH:MM hours:minutes and still the database should store that value as

blank and no other value not even as 0:00.

In MS-Access 97 SR-2 we have table 'T' with datetime datatype field 'F'. We have a query 'Q'

defined on this table to insert record into this table 'T'. We are executing this query 'Q' from

Visual Basic 6.0 and our application requirement is such that user may sometimes not enter any

value in the date field and still the insert query should work.

Here is my query in MS-Access:

Select query:
--------------
SELECT reptime
FROM table1
WHERE id=8;

Insert query:
-------------
PARAMETERS preptime DateTime;
INSERT INTO table1 ( reptime )
SELECT preptime;

Here is my Table definition:

Name:table1

Fields Datatype
idAutonumber
reptimedate/time (short time format)

Here is the code from Visual Basic which gives error as "Data type conversion error":

Private Sub Command1_Click()
Dim db As Database
Dim qd As QueryDef
Dim rs As Recordset
Set db = OpenDatabase("d:personalira.mdb")
Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("table1")
Set qd = db.QueryDefs("insert")

With qd
.Parameters("Preptime") = vbNull
.Execute
End With

Set qd = db.QueryDefs("select")
Set rs = db.OpenRecordset("select")
'rs!RepTime = MaskEdBox1.Text
Text1.Text = rs!RepTime
'rs.Update

End Sub

Problem: When we are exceuting this query using QueryDef from VB application we are getting "data

type conversion error" message. When we did little investigation we found that, when VB is trying

to send some empty string to this date field in MS-Access Database doesn't accept any empty

string.

Here are the options I have tried?

1. When I tried to pass a Null value to the date field in the database when there is no value

entered in this date form variable. MS-Access table is storing that date value as 0:00 which is

no good because user treats it as valid time value.
2. When I tried to execute the query inside the MS-access by passing no value to this date value

it was accepting and the date value is stored as blank but same is not true when I am trying to

sent the blank date value from VB.

Is there any solution for this?

SQL Server - The Conversion Of A Char Data Type To A Datetime Data Type Resulted.....
Hi All

I have developed an application with vb6.0 and sql server 2000 database and working well on my desktop.

While client saving records in db, sometimes they are getting following error.

"The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value."

I'm using ADOs and code like this...

rstCustomer("joindate") = mskJoinDate
rstCustomer("jointime") = mskJoinTime
rstCustomer.Update

' Here mskJoinDate is maskedit control, contains date in dd/mm/yyyy format only.

' Here mskJoinTime is maskedit control, contains Time in hh:mm format only.

' Both are datetime fields in database.

' These two fields won't contain any other data because I have done perfect validation before assign values to recordset.

Anybody have idea about my problem? Please help me to solve this.

Thanks in advance
