Client Logo In Form Caption ? *RESOLVED*
Is it posssible to add a client logo or icon in the caption of the form? I read how to add trademarks and such, but didn't see any thing on adding a logo or image. Solution For A Logo? *Kinda Resolved*
What is the best solution (size and speed wise) for my programs if I want an animated logo? Do I use GIF file and animate it? Do I use flash file and use flash ocx to animate it? Do I create an AVI file?
Logo is about 7 seconds in length (animation part) and it is looped.

Display Form On Excel Startup
I have a form I need to display as soon as I open the workbook. It should be the first thing the user sees. How can I accomplish this?

SysTray Not Display At Windows Startup
I made several applications using tray icons and loading at windows startup. All of them are working well except sometimes (not always) the tray icon do not show up but the process is there.
Anybody met the same situation?

If I kill the process and restart the app the tray icon appears and everything is fine.

I read somewhere that it might be because of the load sequence of the applications and tried different method to delay my apps tray (timer, using startup folder instead of reg. to launch the app at startup) but so far no success... this annoying (because not consistent) problem is still there.

Help will be greatly appreciated.

Changing Startup Position Of A Form Display
Let's say i have a huge form (almost full screen) and by default I want to load it in a compact mode ( a expand button would show it in full-size). Lowering height and width properties at loadup works fine but additionaly I want the compact mode to display a part of the form that is not at (0,0) instead it's somewhere in the middle. Changing top and left doesn't work, ir still starts drawing the form from 0,0 (top left).

I hope I made myself understandable. :P

ImageList Controls Always Display Larger Icons On Startup
I have an ImageList control I am using inside a program to display icons. The default icon size I would like to display is 16 x 16 and the ImageList control is set to 16 x 16 on its property page; however, whenever I load up my program and run it from within VB it displays a 32 x 32 version of the icon. After I stop the program and display the property page for the ImageList, and run the program again it immediately begins showing the correct size icon.

How can I force the program to display the right size icon the first time?

I appreciate any guidance people can offer.

Solved One Problem, One To Go -- Combox Doesn't Display Info At Startup
I am working on a dbase app using VB 6, Access 2k, and referenced MSActiveX 2.7. There is two problems with this program. First, the combobox data does not show anything at startup. if I move to another record the data appears in the combobox but not before.
Dim PathName As String
Dim recSet As ADODB.Recordset
Dim strSQL As String
Dim mboolAdding As Boolean
Dim mboolShow As Boolean

' from Zip table, this one mostly works
Private Sub ZipLoad()
   Dim ZipRS As Recordset
   Dim strSQL As String
   'strSQL = ""
   strSQL = "SELECT Zip_ID, "
   strSQL = strSQL & "Zip "
   strSQL = strSQL & "FROM tblZip "
   Set ZipRS = New Recordset
   ZipRS.Open strSQL, dbConn, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockReadOnly
   With ZipRS
   Do Until ZipRS.EOF
      cboZip.AddItem ZipRS("Zip")
      cboZip.ItemData(cboZip.NewIndex) = ZipRS("Zip") ''
   End With
   Set ZipRS = Nothing
End Sub

' here is the second problem. This combobox errors with "Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal." Which I don't understand since I modeled it after the other combobox that is pretty much working except for the data not visible at startup. I added a table to Access called tblState that has State_ID, (just numbers 1 - 50) and State (has abbreviations CA, CO, etc.)
' from State table
Private Sub StateLoad()
   Dim StateRS As Recordset
   Dim strSQL As String
   'strSQL = ""
   strSQL = "SELECT State_ID, "
   strSQL = strSQL & "State "
   strSQL = strSQL & "FROM tblState "
   Set StateRS = New Recordset
   StateRS.Open strSQL, dbConn, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockReadOnly
   With StateRS
   Do Until StateRS.EOF
      cboState.AddItem StateRS("State")
      cboState.ItemData(cboState.NewIndex) = StateRS("State_ID")
   End With
   Set StateRS = Nothing
End Sub

Private Sub Form_Load()
Set recSet = New Recordset
' Set the location for the mdb (pathname)
    PathName = App.Path & "db_First.mdb"

' Create a connection to the database
    Set dbConn = New ADODB.Connection
    dbConn.Open ("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=" _
                  & PathName & ";Persist Security Info=False")

   ' setup recordset to return info from the database
   strSQL = "SELECT * from tblFirst"
   recSet.Open strSQL, dbConn, adOpenKeyset, adLockOptimistic
   If Not recSet.EOF Then
     With recSet
         txtFirstName.Text = !FirstName
         txtLastName.Text = !LastName
         txtAge.Text = !Age
         cboZip.DataField = !zip
         cboState.DataField = !State ' error here "Item cannot be found in the collection corresponding to the requested name or ordinal."
         txtRelationship = !Relationship

      End With
   End If
   ' close record set
    Call ListLoad
    Call ZipLoad
    Call StateLoad
End Sub

Private Sub ListLoad()
   Dim lstNamesRS As Recordset
   Dim strSQL As String
   strSQL = "SELECT First_ID, FirstName, LastName FROM tblFirst"

   Set lstNamesRS = New Recordset
   lstNamesRS.Open strSQL, dbConn, adOpenForwardOnly, adLockReadOnly
' lstNames.Clear
   Do Until lstNamesRS.EOF
      With lstNames
         .AddItem Trim$(lstNamesRS("LastName")) & ", " & _
         .ItemData(.NewIndex) = lstNamesRS("First_ID")
      End With

   ' test
   Set Me.lstTest.DataSource = lstNamesRS

   ' highlight first entry
   If lstNames.ListCount Then
      lstNames.ListIndex = 0
   End If
End Sub

...I know I bent a few rules here as this code or much of it was in a different post about a week ago but I thought this post was cleaned up and easier to read.

thanks for any thoughts, musings, dejections, ridicule...

Loading New Font At Startup *RESOLVED*
I want to include small fonts in the resource file for my application. This is to overcome a problem when users have 'large fonts' selected, if this setting is OEM then small fonts are not installed until the user has changed from 'large fonts'

I have written some code that extracts the font from the resource file, and adds it to the system table. This code gets run from my splash screen, however when the main form loads it does not use small fonts but has decided to use Aerial instead.

If I run my code for a second time, but without running RemoveFontResource on exit from the first run, then my app uses small fonts ok.

Can I add anything to my code to ensure that my main form uses small fonts as designed:

Heres the code I am using

VB Code:
Option Explicit Private Const HWND_BROADCAST = &HFFFF&Private Const WM_FONTCHANGE = &H1D Private Declare Function AddFontResource Lib "gdi32" Alias "AddFontResourceA" (ByVal lpFileName As String) As LongPrivate Declare Function RemoveFontResource Lib "gdi32" Alias "RemoveFontResourceA" (ByVal lpFileName As String) As Long Private added_small_fonts As Boolean Public Sub Check_for_Small_Fonts() Dim a As LongDim byte_array() As ByteDim file_no As IntegerDim found_font As Boolean For a = 0 To Screen.FontCount - 1   If Screen.Fonts(a) = "Small Fonts" Then found_font = TrueNext added_small_fonts = False If found_font = False Then    byte_array = LoadResData(101, "CUSTOM") ' get font out of res file      'Create temp file      file_no = FreeFile   Open App.Path & "/smalle.fon" For Binary Access Write As #file_no      Put #file_no, 1, byte_array   Close #file_no        ' Add font to system table   If AddFontResource(App.Path & "/smalle.fon") > 0 Then      added_small_fonts = True      SendMessage HWND_BROADCAST, WM_FONTCHANGE, 0, 0   End If   End If End Sub Public Sub Remove_Small_Fonts() If added_small_fonts = True Then ' only remove if added by Check_for_Small_Fonts function   If RemoveFontResource(App.Path & "/smalle.fon") > 0 Then      SendMessage HWND_BROADCAST, WM_FONTCHANGE, 0, 0   End IfEnd If End Sub

Thanks for any help

*RESOLVED* Windows Registry - Startup

[ALMOST RESOLVED] Form Startup Position (new Issue)
I would like to have a form "save" the position on the screen so that after the application is closed, it reopens in the same location. How would I accomplish this?

I'm assuming that I could save the forms' coordinates to a file during Unload, and then on Form_Load set the StartupPosition to those values... but I have NO idea on syntax, dispite looking on these forums and the net.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Display MsFlexgrid At Last Row ***(Resolved)
Hi All,

I can't seem to find this, but I'm sure it's really simple. How do I start the display of a flexgrid control, at the last row of the data contained within the control. So the user does not need to scroll down to see the most recent entries. I'm loading it from a recordset through a SQL stored proc. The number of rows returned will change depending on the lookup. I've tried a few things, with no luck. I've searched this site, with no luck. So can someone please point me in the right direction. It's Friday, and the brain is already ready for the weekend.

** RESOLVED ** Form Display Question ....
I have an MDI based app.

When the user finishes with the app I need to check if any amendments have been made to a bunch of records, by checking a flag.

If they have made changes I need to create a CSV file based on the record/s.

Whilst this is going on I want to display something on screen to inform the user whats going on.
If I use a form to display this there is always the danger the user may switch sessions whilst the processing is going on, and if they switch back the form will no longer be there.
Obviously I can't use a modal form ..... so my question is ....

Is this the best way to do this ? using a form I mean, or does anyone know of a "neater" way ?

RESOLVED - Display Results From SQL Query

This may appear a silly question but how do I print the results I
attain from an SQL query into a pic box....

What I want to happen is a user must enter a id number then

Display Speed - Labels *** Resolved** Thanks
I have to update several hundred files and want to show the name of the file currently being updated. So, at the begining of processing each file I put the file's name into the caption of a label. However, it never displays the new label contents except when the last one is finished. It seems the machine doesn't actually have time to do the display. AM I making sense? If I put a break on the line after I update the caption and view the object, the message is there, but when running without the break, the label stays blank.

Any thoughts?? Thanks in advance

Display Recordset In MSHFlexGrid ** Resolved **
I am trying to display a recordset in a MSHFlexGrid. I have done the same function several times in other VB projects with no problems. Only now I am getting a "Run-time Error '30023'" . My MSHFlexGrid does return the database fields, but no records. I have set a variable = to a field in the recordset and it returns a value, but will just not populate the FlexGrid. The only thing that is different is that I have set up a new user in which I am connecting to the SQL Server database. My code is the same as well as well as the connection properties. I have went to the SQL Server and made sure all the settings, permissions, and properties are set for the new user. I'm sure I have missed something that is probably obvious but just cannot determine what it is. The following is the code I am using to retrieve the rst and populate the FlexGrid.

strSQLGetInfo = "Select * From MaintenanceSchedule Where District = '2'"
    rstMaintenance.Open (strSQLGetInfo), cnnFleet, adOpenStatic, adLockOptimistic, adCmdText
    If rstMaintenance.EOF = True Or rstMaintenance.BOF = True Then
        MsgBox "There are no vehicles scheduled for maintenance this month.", vbOKOnly, "No Scheduled Maintenance"
        Exit Sub
    End If
        Set grdFlexGrid.DataSource = rstMaintenance
        grdFlexGrid.Visible = True

Picture Search And Display ** RESOLVED **
Hello. Is it possible to search a folder for a file and then display the file, instead of the file information? (I'm using Access 2000 by the way)

When you search in Windows, you search for a string and get a list of results. You get the file name, location, date, etc. Instead, in my search (based in a form in Access) - when I have a jpg file in the results, I want it to show the file as an image on the form. It's like the 'thumbnail' view. Does that make sense? Thanks.

Display SQL Results In Textbox Or Label ***RESOLVED***
I am new to VB but pretty experienced with SQL. My problem is getting the result of my query to display in a textbox or a label. Here is my code (very simple SQL!):
Private Sub cmdOK_Click()
Dim m_DB 'define the database connection
Dim m_RS 'define the recordset
Dim strSQL As String 'define SQL statement
Dim strUser As String 'define SQL database user name
Dim strPW As String 'define SQL database user password
strUser = "jhaney"
strPW = "firefly61"
strDate = txtDate.Text

'set the db connection and recordset objects
Set m_DB = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
Set m_RS = CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")

'connect to the database
With m_DB
.Provider = "SQLOLEDB.1"
.ConnectionString = "DEERFIEL-FXUUUO"
.Open , strUser, strPW
.DefaultDatabase = "Berks"
End With

strSQL = "Select Count(Eligibility.member_id) From Eligibility"
m_DB.Execute strSQL
lblEligResult.Caption = strSQL
End Sub

This places the SQL statement in my label, not the results of the query.
I think my problem has to do with showing the recordset - I have searched the threads but can't find an answer. Please help if you can!

RESOLVED : Display A Number Without Scientific Notation
I have some numbers that I'm tracking through code and after running some formula's, I display the results to the user in a checkbox. Because these values can get large, I'm using a data type of Single for the variable. However, when I goto display the value in the textbox, it formats it to scientific notation. Is there anyway to avoid this. Its probably something simple but I cant figure it out.

Thanks for your help.

RESOLVED: How Can I Display The Current Control Which Has The Focus?
I have many controls on a Form1 and I set the TabStop property accordingly to allow for nice TABing through the controls. Now, some of these controls are on frames which are not visible at the time of TABing. The problem I am having is when I TAB through the controls, I see each successive control becomes highlighted when it gets the focus, however, there are times when no controls seem to have focus at all for about 5 to 6 presses of TAB.

What I believe is going on is that the TABing is going to another control which is not visible. Now I understand this can occur, so I usually set the ENabled property to False for the controls which are not visible so TABing should not stop on them.

Anyway, to make a long story shorter .... I would like to TAB and have the name of the current control which has the focus be printed using "Debug.Print" so I can determine what control is being given focus when I perform the TABing.

Does anyone know how I can do this? or perhaps have a better idea of trying to figure out why my TABing disappears.

Display Contents/open Combo Box ~ Resolved
A long long time ago in a galaxy far away a programmer used send keys in Access. Now that lazy programmer (not me I promise) has gotten into trouble since Vista has come along. Long story. To surmise, I need to get rid of send keys in the Access app.

Now to the one that I haven't been able to find different code for. When we open a form, at times we place focus on a certain combo box and send Ctrl + F4 to it to open the combo box and display the contents. I don't want to replace these with list boxes for various reasons. Is there a property setting or command I can use to display the contents without using send keys?

Blizzard Logo
Does anyone know what software Blizzard used to create their animated logo that shows in all their games? Or Microsofts' in the game Halo?

That Logo In The Top Left
can you change what is in the menu when you click in the icon in the top left hand corner of an application (or when you right click on it on the taskbar)

Logo Design!
Hi All!

How would I make a logo such as the ExtremeVB Logo?
Or some other cool logo perhaps?

I'm also not too familiar with Photoshop.

Logo To Be Used In Reports
I want to implement the option that allows the user to upload
or specify a path for a Company Logo, Save it into the dabase
as a text path then print it on Crystal Reports.

Q1. The field in the database should be text type?
Q2. When the Open File Dialog Box opens should I save the file name as text in the database?
Q3. How Crystal reports can display this path or text as an icon, Image, etc.

Thank you,
