ActiveX Dlls - Runtime Error 453 - Can't Find DLL Entry Point...
Yo yo yo

What I want to do is creat my own dll. So far my attemps have failed, and the add-in tut from the msdn library is &*(ed up for me so I hope that the intelligence of all you fine people out there can help me

First I created my DLL
1. I click on new project -> ActiveX Dll

2. In the class provided I entered in the code
Code:
Public Function echoes() As String
    echoes = "bar"
End Function

3. The purpose of this function is when I call echoes() it will return "bar"

4. The dll was compiled at "x:programmingvbdllexperimentdllexperiment.dll", and everything else was saved

5. The test call program was created
Code:

Private Declare Function echoes Lib "x:programmingvbdllexperimentdllexperiment.dll" () As String

Private Sub Form_Load()
    MsgBox echoes
End Sub

6. I ran the program and I got the following error

Does anyone know what the problem is?

&"Can't Find DLL Entry Point In MyDLL.dll&" Error Message
Hi,

What does the VBA error mean when the watch window for a particular function says "Can't find DLL Entry point in C:MydirectorypathmyDLL.dll"

What is an entry point and what might be causing the error?
I think my VBA syntax is correct so it's possibly the DLL itself that's not working? That would be strange since the DLL was provided in a book on how to write DLL's for Excel using C++.
This DLL was the very first example and I copied/pasted the C++ directly from the CD ROM that came with the book.

The DLL compiled fine in VC++ 6 and without errors or warnings, so I'm really surprised that the DLL didn't run in Excel via my VBA function declaration:

Declare Function get_system_time_C Lib "C:Documents and SettingsJohn DoeMy DocumentsGetTimeDebugGetTime.dll" (ByVal trigger As Long) As Double

Error 453: &"Can't Find Entry Point X In DLLTest&"
I tried to access a dll created from Fortran program using the Fortran Powerstation Programmer's Guide... Apparently i followed the step by step coding. However, i still faced the problem of finding the entry point in DLL...

My Command Button code
Private Sub Command1_Click()
Static arr(1 To 5) As StringArray
Call FORSTRARR(arr(1))
For i% = 1 To 5
Text1.Text = arr(i%).strings + Chr$(13) + Chr$(10) + Text1.Text
Next i%
End Sub

My Module in VB
Type StringArray
strings As String * 24
End Type

Declare Sub FORSTRARR Lib "c:Fypc6014FYPfortvb.dll" (Myarray As StringArray)

Source code for the fortran Program Which was compiled to .DLL
SUBROUTINE forstrarr (arr)
CHARACTER (24) arr(5)
arr = "This is a string from Fortran."
END SUBROUTINE

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Error 453: &"Can't Find Entry Point X In DLLTest&"
I am trying to access a DLL written in VB from a VB form but I get the message < Error 453: "Can't find entry point E12 in DLLTest" >
Can anyone pls, pls help???

I have compiled "DLLTest.DLL" with an extract of the code as follows
===================================
Function E12(Optional i, Optional e12Val)
If i > 0 And i < 1.1 Then e12Val = 1
'
End Function
===================================

The Form1 code is as follows:

===================================
Private Declare Function E12 Lib "DLLTest" (ByVal i As Integer, ByVal e12Val As Integer)

Public Sub Text1_KeyPress(KeyAscii As Integer)
' other code here
Call E12(i, e12Val)
' otehr code here
End Sub
====================================

The DLL is located in the same folder as the VBProject & associated form files. It obviously can "SEE" the DLL but cannot see the function "E12" within it. I have taken care in the syntax. I have tried to use an alias etc.. but nothing seems to work...

Can you help?

Thanks

Help With Can't Find Dll Entry Point
Hi all,
I would like to create some routines that I know will be used in multiple programs and would like to do this so that if the routine is updated all programs referencing the routine don't have to be recompiled. To my understanding the best way is to do this through a dll.
My problem is I can't get even the simplest dll to work.
I've been trying to follow some of the examples given in VB but I keep getting the message Can't find dll entry point ....

I created a simple activex dll called junk
In junk there is Class1
In Class1 I have

Public function arrgh() as integer
arrgh = -100
end function

Now I create a simple exe function
Module1 has
Option explicit
Declare Function arrgh Lib "junk.dll" () As Integer

sub main
Dim test as integer
test = arrgh
end sub

So what am I doing wrong? Or is a dll not the proper approach to moving code off that needs to be reused?

Thanks in advance.
Oh I've also gone up and set the Project -> References so junk.dll is checked

Can't Find DLL Entry Point
I have build an IIS Application (DLL) using Visual Basic 6.0. It works as it should through the internet via the ASP file created when compiling the project.

What I would like to do, is also have a standard visual basic exe access functions in this DLL.

I have functions declared in the dll as:

Function Foo (A As String, B As String) As String
...
End Function

In my new program I use:

Private Declare Function Foo Lib "parhname/IISFoo.dll" _
(A As String, B As String) As String

In the code, I can now use Foo("strA", "strB") and all compiles fine.

When I run the program I get:

Can't find DLL entry point Foo in IISFoo.dll

I have tried to include the IISFoo.dll in References with no success; upon compile time, Foo is undeclared.

What gives?

Can't Find DLL Entry Point
???
I used API functions before and DLL's too, but when I made my own, it doesn't work! It says: "Can't find DLL entry point" !!!
And the name of the function is OK, I'm not using any Strings as a parameter. My problem is non of the things MSDN says. I tried to make a dll in c++ and in vb, but I can't use both of them in VB.
I declared it like this:
Private Declare Function FuncName Lib "C:....libname.dll" ([parameters]) [As type]

And it doesn't work!!! Do I need to register the dll or something? The one I compiled in C++ i ran in C++ and works fine... Has anyone had similar problems? Does anyone know how to solve it?

Can't Find Dll Entry Point In...
Hi Everyone,

     I've been trying to make a simple dll that would alert such as those in a message box.

the code i used in the Dll is: (in the class module)

Public Sub ALERT()
    MsgBox "Hello!"
End Sub

compiled it as a dll name hi.dll

I have declared the code in a new the project as such: (placed in the module)

Public Declare Sub alert Lib "c:hi.dll" ()

Another code in the form on the command button as such:

Private Sub Command1_Click()
alert
End Sub

The problem is I get this error message:
Can't find dll entry point in...

I got the dll to work when I use referencing but I need it to work through The Declare statement so I am able to update the Dll and no longer need to recompile the whole exe. Help... anyone.

DLL: Can't Find DLL Entry Point Sum In MyDLL.dll
I posted this message again under a different Subject name because I hope the exact error message will trigger some expert's attention. Hope you don't mind...

Hello,

About a year ago, I created a DLL in Visual C++ 4.0, to use in my Visual Basic application (VB5 sp2).
In the meantime, I installed a fresh NT4 installation, so I had to reinstall VC++ 4.0 in order to rebuild my DLL. However, the DLL doesn't work anymore. When I try to access it from my VB5 (or VB6) application, I get the following error message:

"Run-time error '453':
Can't find DLL entry point sum in myDLL.dll"

I also tried a perfectly worked out example I found on the web but it gave the same error message - so I guess it's possible that I do something wrong while compiling and building the DLL with my VC++ 4.0. I also installed my VC++ 4.0 on a W95 machine, but it doesn't help. Please let me explain how I create the DLL and hopefully you may find a clue...

When I create the DLL I do the following:

1. I have a myDLL.cpp file somewhere on my harddisk containing the following code:
double __stdcall sum(double a, double b) (if I leave out the __stdcall I still get the same error message)
{
double DataValue;
DataValue = a + b;
return(DataValue);
}
2. I start a new project (from scratch) and I start by creating a new workspace for DLL
3. I add the file myDLL to the project with Menu->Insert->Files Into Project
4. I compile the myDLL.cpp file -> no errors, no warnings
5. I build the myDLL.dll file -> no errors, no warnings
6. When I try to access the file from my VB application, I get the error message
7. When I try an old version of myDLL.dll (*from the same source*) that I built a year ago,
I get no errors and everything works fine.

Am I doing something completely wrong?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!

Can't Find Dll Entry Point - Def File Question
I am new to creating DLLs with VB6. I am getting the error message: "can't find dll entry point".

I have defined the function as a PUBLIC function within the dll, but it doesn't seem to be recognised.

I have found references to something called a .def file.

However, I can't seem to find what should be in it or what I should do with it once created ... and if to import it into the .dll project, how to do so.

I wonder if one of the experts could please tell me what to do.

Thank you in anticipation.

DLL Entry Point
hi folks,
I have written an Active X DLL and a test application to test it.
In the test application module, I have declared the dll with the calling function. The function is called form the test application. When the function
is called i am getting the following run-time error :
Run-time error '453' :
Can't find DLL entry point <function name> in <dllname>.dll

I have taken care of the following :
> I have checked this dll , in the Project -> References of the Test application.
> Have registered the dll.
> Also, tried by putting the dll in the win/system folder and registering it.
> Checked that the function name is the same in the calling function and that defined in the dll.
> Made sure that the number of parameters passed and the datatype are correct.

However, i continue to get this error.
Can someone throw some light on this.

Thanks in advance.

Add-In Entry Point
Hi@all!

I know how to add an ActiveX DLL as an Add-In to excel. This Add-In is launched at startup. Now I have one simple question: Where can I find the initialization function of the Add-In (That is, the entry point of the Add-In). I am very new to VB so I am a bit confused about that. I created the ActiveX DLL using VB 6.0 and got the standard form Form1 but this form isn't shown at startup. Is there something like a main() function?

Can anybody tell me where I can find it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

DLL Entry Point Problem
I am trying to create a DLL of a lot of the functions I use. I created an ActiveX DLL and compiled it into "MyFunctions". One of the functions in this DLL is called "PrintJustify". I placed it in my WINNT/System32 directory and registered it using RegSvr32
When I try to call PrintJustify in a program I get the following error: Error #453 - "Can't find DLL Entry Point PrintJustify in MyFunctions." I have no idea what I am doing wrong.
I would greatly appreciate any help from anyone who has some knowledge of how to properly create DLLs.

Entry Point Not Found In VB6 Installation
Hi.

I created a softwares and with VB6 Package and Deployment wizard, i
also created the installation package which worked perfectly in
most machines.

However, if i try to install it in machines with certain machines,
the following error message will appear:

"Entry Point Not Found

The procedure entry point ??1CLcaServerLock@@UAE@XZ could not be
located in the dynamic link library LCAENG.dll."

I can bypass this error message by clicking "Abort" or "Ignore" and finish the installation. However, the program can't be launched.

Few questions here:
1) What does this mean? Does it mean that the installation cant locate
that procedure in the DLL which it's supposed to be able to locate?
2) How can i disable this kind of dll check in the installation?

Thanks.

DllRegisterServer Entry Point Was Not Found
I have written an app that uses an ActiveX.exe. when i built the file it generated a Dll.

I have no problems when i am using the file on the computer i created the app but when i package and distibrute the app it doesnt work. On closer investigation i have found that the application is unable to create the ActiveX object.

If i try to register the dll file manually i get the following error:

my.dll was loaded, but DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.

What could the error be?

Finding A DLL With A Specific Entry Point
I have inherited a VB6 App. that calls a DLL using loads of different Entry Points.
Most of the Entry Points work fine. However, when calling the DLL using an entry point that doesn't work, I get
"Run Time Error '453';
Can't find DLL Entry Point EnableManualWrapup in antapi2"

I have found loads of ANTAPI2 DLL's on the various drives I have access to. Is there a bit of software that will tell me what entry points each DLL has ??

This file can not be registered.

Procedure Entry Point X Not Found In Gdiplus.dll
My project uses 0nerr0r's great GDI+ wrapper classes. Everything was fine until I have tried to create an installer with InnoSetup. I have runned the installer a few times. The installer modified some system settings that prevents now the compiled .exe to run, however the project runs fine from the IDE.

when I try to run the compiled exe I get the following error:

"The procedure entry point GdipBitmapConvertFormat could not be located in the dynamic link library gdipluss.dll"

Here's how the setup looks in InnoSetup:

Dll Was Loaded But The DllRegisterServer Entry Point Was Not Found
hi,

I am trying to access a API function from "winmm.dll" to rename files. When i tried registering the DLL using regsvr32 it gives me this error message.

"winmm.dll was loaded but the DllRegisterServer entry point was not found.
DllRegisterServer may not be exported, or a courropt version of winmm.dll may be in memory. Consider using PView to detect and remove it."

Can anyone pls help urgently.

The Procedure Entry Point SetFileSecurit I Could Not Be Located In The
Hi,
I support a peice of software written in visual basic, on opening the application it displays the message "The procedure entry point SetFileSecurit I could not be located in the dynamic link library, MS DART.DLL"

I tried runnig the CD through again which hs a repair function but this did not work, I installed jet 4.0sp8 and tried to install mdac 2.8 but it kept crashing on attempting to install mdac. I email him an mdac and jet repair kit and ran the mdac fix which reregisters all the mdac dll files.
This did not fix the problem so I checked his version of msdart and it was different to mine. I emailed mine over and he replaced his in windows system 32 but then when searching for the file it kept reverting to the previous version he had had alredy had. Even after rebooting it kept reverting to the original version.
The user is on XP sp1. Any suggestions on this error?
Thanks.
